Despite the support of awesome fans, witty tweets, Lacrosse Playground and some wonderful backers, our Kickstarter project failed.

We have to admit, we’re disappointed. That project was our last hope for a summer clothing line this year.

What Went Wrong?

Everything happens for a reason, and the failure of our Kickstarter project came about from a couple different reasons:

The platform

Looking back, Kickstarter was a bad choice for a funding platform. The pledge system confused a lot of our potential customers, and required them to sign up before pledging. By making them go through more steps, it turned some of them away.

The pre-order system

Kickstarter is essentially a pre-ordering system. You make a pledge, you get your clothes when they’re made a month or so later. While that works great for us, allowing us time to produce the clothing, it’s an inconvenience to our customers. People don’t want to pay money for clothes they’re not going to get for another month or two, especially when the summer is only three months long. Which brings us to another point…

Timing

Due to Amazon payments taking forever to approve our account, our project didn’t launch until two weeks after we planned to launch it. Lesson learned: plan ahead. If you’re launching a Kickstarter project, get that shit done as soon as possible. Don’t wait until you’re ready to launch like we did.

If you’re going to launch a project like this, you really have to have your stuff together. Since we were making a summer clothing line, we were in a rush to get the project out there. We didn’t have time to prearrange press releases and blog posts, and that really hurt us. We had to contact blogs, newspapers, and magazines as the project was going on.

Demographics

We love our customer base. High schoolers, college kids, you guys and girls are champs. That’s why we make clothing for you. But you’re also broke, just like we are. You’re more than willing support a company you like by spreading the word, but you’re much more stingy with where you spend what little money you have. And when everyone’s a supporter, but no one’s a backer, it doesn’t work out in our favor.

Now What?

We’re at a crossroads my friends.

Nothing is going to be made this summer. That’s already set in stone.

The future of this company is a bit more uncertain though. Right now, we’ve got two options:

Shut down for good. Give up the clothing business and go back to our college lives.

Wait. Slowly grow Lax With Class through Twitter, blog posts and Facebook. Then, when we go back to school, relaunch the tuxedo lax pinnie for frats and sororities.

We’re leaning towards option two. This project helped us make some great connections, and we’ve always been some go with the flow kind of guys. Option two gives us some more time to see if this is something people would really want.

If you’ve got an opinion, feel free to share it in the comments.

And as always, stay classy my friend.

Here at Lax With Class, we’ve built up a laid back culture about having fun and looking good.

But what about the days when you have to get serious? Those weekdays when 8AM classes are calling, and the last thing you want to do is get up out of your nice, cozy bed.

It’s tough to get up on those days. It’s even tougher to pull it off and still look good.

But it’s possible, and we thought we’d share some ways the Lax With Class team manages to do it.

1. Have an Awesome Alarm

You gotta wake up before you can start looking good. And if you’re waking up to an alarm that sounds like a siren, you’re doing it wrong.

Your alarm sets the mood for the rest of your morning routine. We’re a big fan of waking up to music, but maybe your thing is the sound of waves crashing at the beach. Maybe it’s the sound of sizzling bacon being cooked by your supermodel girlfriend. Hey, whatever works.

To recap:

Awful alarm = Awful morning

Chill alarm = Chill morning

2. Don’t Make Decisions in the Morning

Long weekends of partying make for rough Monday mornings.

We don’t know about you but when we wake up it’s dark, hard to see, and we’re usually tired as hell. Not a good time to be picking out clothes.

What’s a bro to do?

Lay your clothes out the night before.

It’ll save you time in the morning and, added bonus, you won’t look like you got dressed in the dark.

3. Hats are your friend

If you’re like most of the bros at Lax With Class, you’re probably rocking some nice flow. While we love to let the lettuce rage, things aren’t always looking so nice up there in the morning.

No worries, throw on a hat.

Boom. Bed head’s gone.

Summing it up

These techniques may not work for everyone, but bros who have tried them are reporting improved style, more time for activities and swag increases of over 9000%.

Give our tips a try, and stay classy my friends

Our original Tuxedo Lax Pinnie has been through a lot. From surviving DayGlow (and the ensuing events that followed) to stopping traffic on Ocean Highway, MD, it’s seen many bros and chicas comfortably through their beach hangouts, lax games, parties, hookups and everything in between.

What started as an idea from a couple of friends for their beach week in Ocean City, MD is slowly expanding into states across the U.S. To celebrate, we collaborated with a local graphic designer to produce a fresh new design for our next batch of lacrosse pinnies.

What’s different?

We added the rose on the right to give your tuxedo lax pinnie an extra bit of classiness. Besides that, the tuxedo now features 4 buttons instead of 3 because good things may come in three, but better things come in fours. Then there’s just a few subtle design updates to keep you looking classy.

When will it come out?

Well, that really depends on you. We currently have 15 vintage tuxedo lax pinnies left. Once that stock is out, the new design will start being printed.

Like the new design? Shoot us an email.

Stay classy my friends.
