SAN ANTONIO – May 5, 2021 – Rackspace Technology®(NASDAQ: RXT), a leading end-to-end multicloud technology solutions company, announced today its relationship with McChrystal Group, a renowned advisory services and leadership development firm that helps organizations identify opportunities to improve their performance so they can operate optimally in today’s complex environments.

Leveraging AWS, Rackspace Technology worked closely with the McChrystal Group leadership-development organization to transform a time-consuming and labor-intensive process that was being used to analyze surveys by implementing an automated natural language machine learning (ML) data processing solution. The team then selected the right tools and ML models to ensure the delivery of high-value data derived from processing responses to open-ended questions. The solution transformed a time-consuming and labor-intensive process using an automated natural language ML solution.

“McChrystal Group’s previous survey review process relied heavily on manual processes that were both time consuming and labor-intensive. To decrease the level of effort and time, the McChrystal Group looked to us to develop an automated natural language processing solution that would save considerable time and have the ability to identify key topics that were cropping up in the answers to open-ended questions,” said Jeff Deverter, CTO, Solutions at Rackspace Technology. “Our team was focused on how to increase productivity through the adoption of technology that would drive immediate business results for McChrystal Group and doing this expedited the results – especially when evaluating thousands of surveys which increased time to value for McChrystal Group’s clients.”

The solution uses Amazon Athena, AWS Glue, Amazon S3, Amazon SageMaker, and Amazon Translate. The automated ML natural language processing solution enables the company to replace a time-intensive manual process that consumed considerable resources with an automated process that is significantly faster, more consistent, and replicable.

Brave Software

Rackspace Technology worked with Brave Software, Inc, a company that provides a free, open-source private and secure web browser for PC, Mac and mobile environments, to improve the scalability of Brave’s software, increase the team’s efficiency and reduce infrastructure costs by 50 percent.

Once on AWS, Rackspace Technology made critical improvements in automating Brave’s ML processes by employing ML Ops Foundations to provide an architecture pattern for Brave. These cloud-based data pipelines provided a consistent structure for ML development, training and deployment, accelerating the process of publishing new models from several days to several hours. As a result of improvements to ML testing and functionality.

PipeSearch

PipeSearch, a U.S.-based software company that connects and supports the global pipe industry, worked with Rackspace Technology to expand data modernization and ML capabilities to aide PipeSearch’s efforts to revolutionize the pipe industry with a modern supply chain solution.

The Rackspace Technology team designed a data flow plan and extract data to be fed into a searchable database and provide normalized descriptions, allowing easy access to customers. The solution also allowed the team to identify data it was unsure about, which was then used to retrain the model, further strengthening results.

Brave worked with AWS Premier Consulting Partner, Onica, a Rackspace Technology company, to improve the scalability of Brave’s software, increased the team’s efficiency, and reduced infrastructure costs by 50 percent. Rackspace Technology used a wide range of AWS services to build cloud infrastructure tailored to Brave’s needs.

Once on AWS cloud, Rackspace Technology made critical improvements in automating Brave’s machine learning processes, employing MLOps Foundations to provide an architecture pattern for Brave. These cloud-based data pipelines provided a consistent structure for machine learning development, training and deployment, accelerating the process of publishing new models from several days to several hours.

Before working with Rackspace Technology, Brave’s processes for training and deploying machine learning models were slower, involving manual steps spanning several days. Brave needed a more robust pipeline and fully automated processes.

SAN ANTONIO – April 1, 2021 – Rackspace Technology TM (NASDAQ: RXT), a leading end-to-end, multicloud technology solutions company, announced today its collaboration with Blackline Safety Corp. (TSX.V: BLN), a global leader of gas detection and connected safety solutions, to help drive critical software innovation and platform improvements that will support its expanding customer base and employee contact tracing solution.

Blackline Safety provides wearable safety technology, personal and area gas monitoring, cloud-connected software, data science services and data analytics to leading enterprises around the world. In early 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic started to take hold, Blackline saw an urgent need to support its customers’ ongoing safety needs with new industrial close contact tracing capabilities. The company engaged with Onica, a Rackspace Technology company and an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Premier Consulting Partner, to help support the rapid development and deployment of their close contact tracing and reporting solution.

Blackline Safety has experienced rapid growth since the launch of its first G7 cloud-connected safety wearables in 2017. End customer’s desire to leverage the data collected by their Blackline Safety solutions drove the creation of the Blackline Vision data science team as well as a suite of data-driven tools and services.

As part of a larger effort to upgrade its data streaming and processing infrastructure, Blackline needed a partner with Big Data expertise that could help re-architect aspects of its current platform to enable faster scaling and real-time data processing from a growing number of products in the field. They also required additional resources to build out a data lake that could support new industrial contact tracing reports and visualizations.

“In this period of accelerated growth, it was becoming difficult to balance critical software innovation with the need to grow our team while simultaneously managing critical improvements to our platform,” said John Moura, director, Software Development and Operations, Blackline Safety. “We knew that investing in our cloud infrastructure would support our next phase of growth, but it was critical to select the right partner with deep experience and a proven track record. We found that partner with Rackspace Technology.”

Rackspace Technology worked with Blackline Safety to migrate from its conventional data ingestion and database storage system to a modern infrastructure on AWS, which was better equipped to support Blackline’s future growth and innovation. Rackspace Technology also implemented a solution using Amazon Kinesis and Amazon EMR to collect high-volume data streamed from Blackline’s portfolio of G7 devices in the field via integrated cellular and satellite connectivity.

With this new infrastructure in place, data is ingested and routed using a number of tools to preserve its integrity. The data is then enriched, transmitted and assembled in Amazon Redshift with the support of Delta Lake. The immediate impact of this collaboration enabled the deployment of higher data rate reporting from connected wearables, helping Blackline Safety clients make informed, data-driven decisions about their businesses.

An additional achievement of the collaboration was support for the launch of the Blackline Vision team’s highly visual and interactive industrial contact tracing infrastructure. The solution provides automated visualizations that highlight close interactions between employees over designated periods of time using secure data from their Blackline Safety wearable devices. The teams successfully ensured information is strictly maintained for each client organization, only providing access to designated users through strict user access controls, supporting the safe and informed return to work initiatives.

SAN ANTONIO – March 30, 2021 – Rackspace Technology TM (NASDAQ: RXT), a leading end-to-end multicloud technology solutions company, today announced it has worked with Qwake Technologies, a provider of revolutionary visual communication technology for firefighters, to accelerate Qwake’s cloud native approach. The company’s product allows firefighters to more effectively navigate and communicate in low visibility environments through its local and connected platform which leverages the use of an Internet of Things (IoT) architecture. In addition, Qwake secured a government contract with DHS to commercialize the C-THRU Visual Communication integrated hardware and software solution.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), fires claim over 180,000 lives each year. The long-term impacts of fires also include property damage, lost productivity, and disruption to the environment. To help minimize danger and damage, Qwake Technologies set out to develop the world’s first IoT-enabled, wearable solution, to support the C-THRU breakthrough Visual Communication technology.

Qwake piloted the C-THRU Visual Communication with the Boston Fire Department, Menlo Park Fire Department, and several other forward leading fire departments.

The augmented reality (AR), helmet-worn device includes cellular and WiFi connected technology that helps firefighters navigate and maintain awareness of their surroundings. Data is transmitted to a tablet application that provides the incident commander real-time video feeds and accountability tools to coordinate their efforts. Finally, a cloud archive provides real-time incident analytics, damage assessment, and training forensics to better understand the incident, both during and after it has concluded.

To make this technology a reality, the company partnered with Onica, a Rackspace Technology company and AWS Premier Consulting Partner, to implement the cloud-native ecosystem required to support this cutting-edge IoT and augmented reality device.

Qwake Technologies’ AR Navigation and Visual Communication platform is the first and only cloud-enabled firefighting solution of its kind and represents a significant technological advancement for a segment that hasn’t seen much technology innovation. The device, which enables two-way visual communication and personal navigation, allows an otherwise smoke-filled house to appear clear and direction able. It has already been piloted by the Department of Homeland Security and the Boston Fire Department.
