Hello, everyone! I just wanted to apologize for my absence these last couple months. Things have been crazy busy, and blogging just fell by the way-side for a time.

I will be starting back up with product, game and book reviews the beginning of next week, as well as giveaways, too.

Review and Giveaway: Bluapple

I was recently given the opportunity to review a great money-saving device in my home - The Bluapple! The Bluapple is a small, blue plastic apple that goes in the refrigerator with your fruits and veggies and helps to keep them fresher, longer!

How Does the BluApple Work?

Ethylene gas is given off naturally by fruits and vegetables as a signaling mechanism in order to coordinate uniform ripening. However, once concentrated in your refrigerator or other storage areas, the presence of ethylene gas continues to speed up ripening and hasten spoilage.

The BluApple is designed to provide effective ethylene gas absorption for three months in a typical home refrigerator produce bin or storage container. The active ingredient does not "wear out", but continues to absorb ethylene until it has reached its capacity. A One Year Refill Kit rounds out the BluApple ethylene gas management product line, allowing consumers to reuse BluApples and not add them to landfills.

We all know fresh fruits and veggies are important, but they are also SO expensive! Even with a household of 5 adults, we sometimes have a hard time eating all the produce we buy before it can go bad. The Bluapple is helping us with that problem! I just put the Bluapple in the crisper drawer with whatever produce I get from the store or our local Farmer's Market, and it absorbs the ethylene gas that produce creates as it ripens. My household loves strawberries, and we are lucky enough to live near a strawberry farm which sells fresh, just-picked strawberries from a local stand in the spring and summer. We buy a gallon bucket of strawberries at a time, but we cannot eat them all at once, and we all know strawberries go bad very quickly. So this time I put the Bluapple on top of the bucket after I cut the first batch of strawberries, and we still had fresh strawberries a couple days later!

My household also loves raw veggies, like carrots, celery, radishes and cucumbers. I tend to buy some of each every week at the store, and now I know that they will not go bad since they just go in the crisper drawer with the Bluapple!

Recently I was given the opportunity to review Truebars from Bakery on Main. These delicious granola bars are gluten-free, non GMO, and are also casein and dairy free. I received the Butterfly Keychain and I had it engraved with my mom's initials. I gave it to her because she always needs a keychain to put different keys on for work.

I have to admit, I was a little disappointed when I opened this one up - it is not playable AT ALL!!! I was hoping for a little tiny game of Clue that could actually be played, and the packaging even says "limited playability," but there is NO playability. All that comes with it is the board, a tiny magnetic die, a tiny magnetic gun, and a tiny magnetic knife. The board is magnetic so the pieces don't fall off when you "play." Nowhere in the description of this item does it say it is not playable, so I was disappointed. However, it is cute, and it will end up being attached to my game bag. In case you didn't know, I am a huge board game geek!!!

I was very excited when I saw the creative hats at My Kayla Rose's Etsy Boutique. Bonnie's designs are so fun and playful that I really wanted to incorporate one of them into Emily's birthday party! I chose the zebra print with the hot pink feather boa detail around the base and on the top. I think this hat is a wonderfully girly design that brings a small amount of flashiness to the party.

So far, Emily has been exceptionally interested in the hat, just not on her head! She had so much fun playing the game of pulling the hat off of her head that I could not help, but snap pictures in between laughing at how much fun she was having!! I can just imagine when she gets older and wants to play dress-up how much fun she will have with this hat added to her dress-up collection.

Bonnie at My Kayla Rose offers a nice variety of hats for any celebration including Mini Mouse hats too (adorable!).
