I’ve carried my trusty Buck Nobleman in my pocket for years. With my initials and clipart laser etched onto it (see photo) when I misplaced it, it would always turn up eventually.

Things I like about the Buck Nobleman as an every day carry pocket knife:

• The blade keeps an edge fairly well.
• It slides in and out of pocket easy, nothing catches.
• Small enough it does not bulge and I can still fit my hand in pocket around it to get at bluetooth earpiece.
• Easy one hand open and close with thumb notch.

But after seeing a customer order the Buck Redpoint, I started to reconsider. After trying out the Redpoint for a day, I made the leap.

• Serrated blade! Part smooth, part serrated. This was the main reason

Special care must be taken when cleaning acrylic products. You should avoid household cleaners like Windex or 409. The chemicals in these products can dull and craze the clarity and beauty of acrylic.

The best way to care for your Acrylic awards is to clean with warm water and a small amount of liquid soap such as Ivory, rinse and dry.

The same principles apply to acrylic furniture and decor.

For minor smudges, you can breathe a breath of warm air and use a soft cloth to buff it clean.

Always use a clean, soft cloth to avoid scratches (paper towels are generally not “soft”). If you have a lot of acrylic awards with large surface area that you must keep polished, consider buying acrylic cleaner from a plastic supply shop.

Everyone is talking about green living and caring for our earth. Those of us who are concerned with making a change soldier on in the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi who said, “It’s not too late at all.  You just don’t yet know what you are capable of.” We all hope he is right!

With this goal in mind, we look to consume less, reuse items frequently, and recycle them after they are used to their fullest capacity. I love my stainless steel water bottles. Between my wife and I we have more than a dozen – a few 24oz, multiple 40oz (my favorite size), 34oz, Thermos Hydration Bottle, Thermos Backpack Bottle, Thermos 2Qt, Stanley Bolt/Overtime bottle and more.

I can drop them down a mountain or in the parking lot and they just get more character. The laser etching never wears off.

I’m sure you have some stainless bottles you enjoy too. Have you ever noticed that sometimes they can start smelling after weeks of constant use? It is a mystery how that happens when all I put in there is water.

Here are a few tips for cleaning your stainless steel bottles.

My favorite method that gets it clean and odor free, plus it is quick and easy to do most anywhere:

• Rinse out with warm water
• Using dish washing soap, get sponge soapy
• Scrub as much as you can reach, and use handle of a long handled spoon to move sponge around bottom half where you can’t reach (large wood spoons work nice)
• Put lid on and shake vigorously
• Rinse soap out, and let air dry, or immediately fill up with water

If that doesn’t do it for you, here are more cleaning tips:

• Add little bit of bleach to bottle, fill with water and let sit for 15 minutes. Keep bottle out of reach of children. Rinse thoroughly.
• Using the rice method: Put small amount of rice on spoon, put a little soap on top of rice, pour rice and soap in bottle. Fill bottle about half way with warm water. Put lid on and shake, rattle, turn upside down, swirl so the rice comes in contact with edges of bottle. The rice acts as abrasion and helps clean inside of bottle. Rinse thoroughly.
• You can also use white vinegar to clean inside of bottles: Pour 2 tbsp. white vinegar into bottle, put lid on and shake. Remove lid, fill halfway with warm water and scrub with sponge or brush. Put lid back on and shake it again, and then rinse thoroughly.

Other tips:

• Always store bottles with lids off so that any left over moisture can evaporate.
• If storing, ensure bottle dries completely before putting in storage.
• If the cap needs cleaning, use the soapy sponge or a little bit of vinegar.
