This review is being posted after 7 months of ownership.

I moved to digital TV this past winter. The worst thing about going to a nice TV was it made my other TVs show their age. So I treated myself to more than one. I bought a total of 4 different brands thinking that I would have a REALLY nice TV in my living room and something less spectacular in my bedroom. I ended up returning a more expensive TV to get a second Phillips because the Phillips looked and sounded better side by side.

Others smarter than I may talk about technical specs that make this an inferior TV. I am not interested in that debate. I know which one looked best when I had them side-by-side in my home.

Watching blu ray movies is nothing less than awesome (when you get a GREAT movie recorded in blu ray.)

FYI, I looked mostly at 120Hz LCDs, but did try one plasma TV. And in case you were wondering, yes, these are quite a pain in the behind to repackage and take back to the store. But I have no shame when I am spending this much money and I can look at the output side-by-side and I realize the cheaper TV looks better.

So you want this TV it looks like pure sex and the wife is not beating you over the head about the price right?? ok ill try to keep this short and sweet is it worth the money??? YES but you have to remember if you have any cable company or even fios understand they broadcast in 1080i not 1080p but that ok the picture syill will look great on this tv the halo effect that most hd tvs have is almost non issue here it also come with a light sensor that adjusts your picture according to the light in the room it is truly a wonderful feature that you will enjoy but want to see the true power of this tv ?? put in a blue ray disc and prepare to crap your pants , and yes there are problems as you will find that people have had with this tv on the net but remember ALL tvs have problems no matter who makes them and the problem with this one was fixed long ago with a software update and this one should have that update installed already so not to worry also if you are a gamer the 2 ms response time will make you smile from ear to ear oh and i have to admit the speakers that come with this unit are some of the best i have ever heard on a set but i have home theater and no TV speakers can compete with that look at it this way if you don’t like it you can always return it but i assure you you will not .

Customer Review: Defective out of box – lousy customer service
Bought the tv as a Circuit City close-out. Was defective when I brought it home. I assumed Sharp would replace it with new since it is 2 days old. They are insisting on a repair after a week wait. I had to call twice to get that info. Very disappointing customer service. Very disappointing experience with Aquos so far.

About one year ago I purchased the Sharp 52″ LCD TV. I am very happy with this purchase. The picture has excellent sharpness and color, with no color banding as experienced with some of the earlier versions.

This TV has performed perfectly with no problems. A very nice feature of this TV is the automatic picture level control, which controls the level of brightness of the video under variable room lighting conditions, especially on a partly cloudy day, when the lighting constantly changes.

The audio is good if you do not use maximum bass setting, as setting bass level too high overdrives the built-in speakers at high audio levels. The audio is surprisingly good at normal settings with the bottom mounted internal speakers.

Don’t be afraid to explore all the video settings to achieve the picture that will please you, as it takes some experimenting to get this right, but it’s worth it.

I highly recommend this TV after using it for almost one year. This is my 3rd Sharp TV….all with excellent reliability.

Customer Review: Excellent ‘No Glare’ in Window Filled Room
This TV is now over a year old and we love it as much as the day we pulled it out of the box. We had tried a 58″ Samsung plazma that was beautiful, but our bank of west facing windows in bright 300+ Colorado sunny days simply did not agree with the mirror like reflective glass of plazma. I really wanted that 58″ to work and have been accused of being a Sony guy opposed to a ‘Sammy ?’ guy. I didn’t know there were those kind of people out there. This 52″ Sony handles the sunny bright Colorado bank of windows incredibly well ‘with absolutely no glare’…ever. Full curtains drawn or not. I would have never believed it! While I wouldn’t think twice about a plazma for a ‘darker’ room with low light and no glare, to get those super deep blacks, this TV is breath taking, and grabs our attention with it’s outstanding HD pictures. And no, I’m not a Sony guy opposed to a “Sammy” guy, whatever that is supposed to mean.

I’ve owned this 52 inch LCD tv Since May 2008 from an authorized Sony dealer. Its initial quality was nothing less than spectacular. Deep blacks. No bleeding. Exceptional clarity. Breathtaking colors. It was registered for warranty the same day online with Sony’s website.

Over the last three weeks, I noticed SEVERE bleeding of the blacks during any tv or movie and when it’s a blank screen. I’ve seen an odd double blur around actors and objects (artifacting?). It does Not leave a trail like ghosting. I’ve tried switching all of my video/audio equipment without success.

I called Sony to come out to repair. They blew me off for three weeks. After getting tired of my 3 times a day calling, they sent a guy out. He said YES my problems were legitimate… BUT IT’S NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY! I am extremely upset at Sony and their business practice. A friend of mine has the 42″ version and is beginning to show the same faults. He bought a third party warranty and got his tv repaired. Is this the beginning of SONY’s fall from grace? Check their tanking stock price and see how much money they lost for fiscal year 2008.

Customer Review: Great TV but Warranty difficult to deal with
I purchased this TV for about $2300 along with a free Sony Blu Ray BDS350 from Circuit City’s going-out-of-business sale in Jan 2009. The TV is great and I recommend it highly. HD and blu ray blew me away. I went back within the 30-day limit and bought Circuit City’s 3-year warranty for $300+, as I kept getting told that things can go wrong with these big LCD’s. I was told that the CC warranty covered more than the usual things, and that they would often simply replace the defective TV with no hassle.

On April 22, 2009, I reported Mura (clouding), which had a flashlight effect from six points on the sides of the screen. It doesn’t show during TV viewing except during very dark scenes, and became more annoying to me as time went on. I first called the Circuit City warranty guys thinking the set might just get promptly replaced, but no such luck. They immediately turned me over to Sony saying “the one-year Sony warranty is in effect.” (My receipt for the CC warranty shows it began at date of purchase and ends Jan. 2012, so apparently, in reality, I bought a 2-year warranty not a 3-year, and paid $300+.) Sony dispatched their repairman who came and looked it over on an early Sat. morning when the TV was not warmed up enough for the problem to show. He believed that, and said he would come back. He told me Sony needs proof of a problem and to try to get pics of it so, not owning a camera, I bought a drug store instant camera which did get sharp pics of the TV screen with or without flash. But it just picked up the TV with its black screen with none of the white clouding showing on the snapshots. The repairman, thankfully, did bring a “real” camera on his next visit, took pics and left with the promise that Sony would call me in about 5 business days with the verdict. By June 17, they still had not called, so I called them and was informed that they did have a new back panel on back order and would call me for an appointment when it came in. It might take weeks. Then, a few days later they called me because they had the part. They promptly came and tried to install it — taking ALL the guts out of the TV, unplugging all the wiring inside it, EVERYTHING, down to the plain black frame itself, then went to replace the panel but found they had ordered the wrong panel. They put everything back together OK, and I’m still awaiting the correct replacement panel.

I asked while they were working, “what if the new panel is the same way?” and they said “then, that’s how it will have to be I guess.” So, I think in that case I would try to go after the CC guys and threaten to make the warranty a disputed charge on my credit card unless they do something, but we’ll see.

I’ll update this review when I get the new panel.

Customer Review: Disappointment
After much, much research opted for this set over the similar Samsung mainly due to reviews of the Samsung which mentioned “poor customer service.” Paying this much I wanted the best TV & Customer Service should I need it. Being a Sony, expensive at that, I didn’t think I would ever need it anyway.

Purchase, delivery throught Amazon was awesome as always. Bought Sony components including amplifier and blue ray, and Peerless (wonderful) mounts for all.

Mounted and installed easily. Beautiful! Absolutely awesome picture. In blue ray it was literally better than actually “being there.” I thought 16:9 and 4:3 controls were odd, but I was fine with that. I was amazed and very happy with entire purchase…….for about 90 days!

Suddenly and without warning, the bottom third of the screen goes fuzzy. Really, I can describe it as the bottom third refreshing at such a slow rate the previous frames are visible for a good 5-10 seconds. Now this is only the bottom third of the screen mind you, the remainder is fine. It does this regardless of the source.

I contact Sony’s Customer Service through website and easily order service. I precisely describe problem. Sony automated site says it’s under warranty and they’ll dispacth a repairman. The first technician available is a week out.(You can pick the date-neat enough) Instructions are you must remove from wall and leave where tech can get to rear of tv. Technician arrives, looks at picture for 5 seconds and says “you were absolutley right in your decription. You need an entire new screen!” He says that will take 3 weeks to arrive.

It’s been over two now and I haven’t yet heard from them about scheduling a date. That’s were we are. Meanwhile TV still sucks and the wall is a mess.

Amazon got me the TV is less than a week. I’m going to literally video the “rescreening” process and make sure the TV is in like-new condition. Sony should have replaced the TV immediately. How much does two techs trips and a new screen cost. I’m sad. Hope you have better luck. I’m very disappointed in Sony.

Customer Review: Great TV. Very pleased so far.
I’ve had this TV for about 3 weeks now and I am very pleased thus far. I did an agonizing amount of research and this seemed like the best deal for a 52″ TV. I went with the 120HZ as I heard it enhanced viewing sports and was a definate plus with Blu Ray (which I do not yet have). I cant really judge this feature as I have no point of reference. HD programming looks outstanding as do DVD’s. I expected bad sound and this was the case. But a few days ago we switched from Direct TV to Comcast and my wife and I were stunned at how much better the TV sounded. Night and day. Why this is I do not know….
The blacks on this screen are very dark and look outstanding. Just watched “The Descent” which is an extremely dark movie and it looked just great.
Anyway I recommend this TV if you are looking for an affordable 52″ from a reputable manufacturer.

This tv is great i love it you need a blueray to see what it can really do but even in 1080i and 720p it is good buy it!! You will like it. Setting are easy too and goes great with my samsung home threater system.

So far I am pleased with my TV. However I am not to happy with the remote control, the mute button and other bottons are too small & will tend to slip below thremote face. I contacted sony but got no satisfaction from them. they said I should buy a universal remote. thats no help. maybe Amazon can do somthing. please TRY. thank you.
Customer Review: Greatest Present a Single Guy Could Receive!
I have had this TV for 8 or 9 months now. I received it as a house-warming gift from friends and family. I tell you what, it has been a wonderful thing so far. I’ve had no problems with it at all! The picture quality is outstanding when watching HD channels! It’s pretty decent when watching non-HD channels as well but really great with the HD channels. The sound is terrific as well. My family and friends did a tremendous job in researching and picking out a TV for me and I cannot thank them enough! I totally recommend this set for anyone who is looking to buy an HDTV for themselves or like my wonderful family, for a present to for someone who totally was not expecting it nor feels they deserve such a thing.
