Chester Green Rainbow Guides

Chester Green Rainbow Guides has places available for girls aged 5 & 6 and a waiting list for younger girls.

We meet from 5-6pm on Tuesday (term time only) at Chester Green Community Centre, City Road.

Rainbows are the youngest members of Girl Guides (before Brownies).
Rainbow meetings are full of games & activities which allow Rainbows to think for themselves - it's an opportunity to complete the Rainbow programme to look, learn, laugh and love, but mainly Rainbows have fun!

Membership of Girlguiding UK is voluntary and is open to any girl, regardless of faith, race, culture, nationality or any other circumstance, provided she is able to understand and willing to make the Rainbow Promise:

I promise that I will do my best to love my God and to be kind and helpful.

Fees (subs) are only £10 per half term.

Public Meeting - Flood Risk Strategy Tuesday, 21st October

The Little Chester Residents Association are calling a public meeting to discuss the recently acquired information from the environment agency. If you've tried to get buildings insurance through Zuric, then you'll know just how relevant this is to residents in our area!

The meeting will be held in St. Pauls's Church Hall on Seale Street on tuesday, 21st October, 2008 at 7.30pm

These proposals will have a big impact on Chester Green and we invite all residents who are interested in the area in which they live to come along to this meeting. Representatives from the Environment Agency will be present and are very interested in YOUR VIEWS!!!

Soul Cafe @ St. Pauls Church - Sunday, 5th October

Last year saw lots of events in the studio, so this time and by popular request we're moving back into the church for our brand new autumn and spring programme.

Derbyshire Constabulary Male Voice Choir - Friday, 28th October

A performance by the excellent Derbyshire Constabulary Male Voice Choir will be held at St. Pauls Church on Friday, 28th October at 7.45pm. They 'raised the roof' last year to an audience of their peers and are back by popular demand, but this time open to the public!

Refreshments will be available and tickets cost £5.00. The event is organised by Bev Hunter with all proceeds going to St. Pauls Church Roof Fund.

The choir are performing for free and there will be a collection at the end to cover their expenses.

Pocket Panto Returning to Chester Green

Last year, Pocket Panto performed a production of Dick Whittington which was brought to Chester Green Community Centre.

This year Pocket Panto are bringing a new show, "Aladdin", to the Chester Green Community Centre on Sunday 30th March at 2pm. Doors open 1.45pm. Tickets £4 Adults, £3 Children, available on the door on the day. To reserve call: 07861 377228.

Songs from Musicals in Chester Green

On Saturday 20th October Chester Green Methodist church is hosting a concert featuring "Perfect Harmony" - Emma Shute, Catherine Hart & Dan Armstrong - who will be performing a selection of songs from Broadway and the West End (including West Side Story, Miss Saigon, Les Miserables etc). The concert will be at Mansfield Street Methodist Church, which is off City Road in Chester Green.

Light refreshments (hot drinks, soft drinks, biscuits, cakes) will be available during the interval.

Tickets are a fiver with proceeds from the concert supporting the work of the Church in the local community.

Well Dressing Weekend - Sat 18th June and Sun 19th

This year the well dressing will be the well in the vicarage and the blessing service will begin at 2pm (Sat 18th). In the evening there will be a Ceilidh from 6.30pm to 9pm. Food will also be available. Sunday 19th service at 10am will be an open air event (weather permitting).
