Etsy shop launch

Hello blog land, remember me? I'm still alive and well and using my time to pursue a few different things these days such as swing dancing and working on my shop. Speaking of which, after giving Storenvy and the Rose Street Artist's Market a crack, I decided to relaunch my shop on the Etsy marketplace over the Easter weekend. All the old favourites are up and I'm currently working on some new designs that will be available in the next month or two.

I may come back to blogging sometime this year, but in the mean time you can find me over at my Etsy store as well as on Facebook and Instagram. I've also closed my old 'Shop My Wardrobe' shop but will be selling my clothing from time to time on eBay. Au revoir for now and take care!

Clearasil Look Good Feel Good ebook

A few months ago I participated in a Clearasil campaign where I blogged about a day in my life and tested out the Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamins & Extracts Scrub and Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamins & Extracts Wash. The last part of the campaign, an ebook featuring tips on how to feel confident and look good, has now also been completed! Tip #2 My tip to feeling good is to find an exercise you really enjoy and do it regularly. Any exercise that gets your heart rate up and you enjoy such as dancing, running, Pilates or cycling, releases endorphins and can help you feel more happy and confident.

Orla Keily S/S 2014

One of my favourite Spring/Summer collections for 2014 so far is definitely by Orla Kiely. The collection looks very inspired by the movie Moonrise Kingdom (worth a watch if you haven't seen it yet) and the 60's era. Presented on a set that looks like a safari camp, the collection evokes a touch of childhood nostalgia with it's specimen jars, butterfly nets, binoculars and scattering of books and record players. Excuse me while I go join camp Orla Kiely!

The Gatsby Spring Soiree

After the excitement of the Australia Jitterbug Championships (my dance partner and I came second in the Up & Coming division - amazing!), I spent the next weekend getting all dressed up for the Gatsby Spring Soirée. After getting ready at home I headed to a friend's hotel for pre-drinks then we all went to the main event.

It was a great night and the costumes were amazing; so many well dressed people in one place! So here are some photos I took on the night plus outfit details on what I wore. Hope you all had a lovely weekend as I did. This past week I've been busy practicing my swing dancing moves with my new dance partner as we're entering the Australian Jitterbug Competition this coming Saturday. As we've only been dancing for a week together, we'll be entering the Up & Coming category just for fun and to support our friends who are also entering!

In other news, while I was away visiting my family in Adelaide, I found the perfect pair of high-waisted gingham pants; very exciting for someone who lives in in skirts and dresses as a good pair of trousers are hard to come by. Au revoir for now!

A day in the life + Clearasil giveaway (CLOSED)

Recently Clearasil approached me to test the newly launched Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamins & Extracts Scrub and Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamins & Extracts Daily Wash. Their new range is designed for ladies who are looking for a skincare regime that prevents breakouts while also nourishing their skin. It's been years since I used Clearasil; back in high school I had problem skin and used the toner, face wash and spot cream to try and get it under control. Even now in my mid-twenties I sometimes have breakouts and know how much having good skin affects your confidence.

So when I heard from Clearasil I was happy to try their new range and share a day of my life with you for this project. Myself and a number of other blogs are also holding a competition to win a $500 experience of your choice to enjoy with confidence! Details on how to enter the competition are at the end of the post, and here is a peek into an average weekday of mine:

7:45am - My alarm goes off, I hit snooze a couple of times then lay in bed for a while as I check emails and messages on my phone. Check to see what the weather looks like outside... looks like another chilly day in Melbourne.

8:05am - Say good morning to my kitty, who likes to prompt me out of bed by nibbling at my head and running around on the bed.

8:15am - I wrap myself up in my dressing gown and head into the bathroom to start my morning skincare routine. Currently I'm using Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamins & Extracts Daily Wash to cleanse my face in the morning before putting on my makeup. Cleansing in the morning helps wake me up and makes my skin feel refreshed, particularly on those groggy, sleepy days. I feed Eva and eat my usual breakfast of a one and a half pieces of rye toast and a cup of coffee while getting ready for work.

8:44am - My daily makeup consists of Garnier BB cream, Inglot primer, Everyday Minerals powder foundation and blush, Revlon Lip Butter in a natural pink, L'oreal mascara on top and bottom lashes and Rimmel eyeliner in a cat-eye flick on my top lid. After doing my hair with curlers or a curling iron (depending on how much time I have) it's time to pick a perfume.

8:45am - And something to wear.

8:55am - Plus choose one or two pairs of shoes for the day (one pair of heels, one pair of flats). I pat Eva goodbye, grab my bag, and leave (usually run!) to catch the tram to work.

9:50am - For non-morning people such as myself, one of the perks of working in retail is the later opening times. When I arrive at work I'm greeted by the cute fellow employee I'm working with that day.

10:00am - Time to dress up for the day!

12:00pm - On an average day we help customers, pack and post online orders, keep the store neat and tidy and re-merchandise when needed. Today we re-merchandised the front window with a Great Gatsby theme.

2:00pm - In the lull after lunch time we put new stock out on the floor and admire the new arrivals. Nearly every day I'm adding things to my quickly growing wish list; Alannah Hill is a very tempting place to work!

4:20pm - Amusing ourselves while it's quiet by climbing into the window and pretending to be mannequins.

6:00pm - After closing up the store, I head into the city to meet my gym buddy for a workout. We aim to go 2-3 times a week to do cardio, weights and sometimes a class. I love having someone there to keep me motivated otherwise I tend to get lazy.

7:30pm - After working out, my gym buddy and I head to our favourite Japanese cafe for ramen and chicken katsu (I'm now greeted as the katsu girl since I order the same thing every time). When I stick to a skincare regine that keeps my skin looking good I feel more confident and don't need to bother with reapplying my foundation after working out. My current routine of Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamins & Extracts Daily Wash in the morning and Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamins & Extracts Scrub in the evening is keeping my skin happy at the moment.

8:20pm - Time for some dessert before we head home. I usually get a little bit of my favourite Tutti Frutti frozen yogurt or two small chocolates - quality over quantity!

8:25pm - Can't go past Haighs for delicious chocolate. We recently discovered the Almond Krokants - best thing since sliced bread.

9:30pm - After a long day there's nothing I love more than getting home, slipping into favourite pyjamas and warming up in front of the heater while saying hello to the kitty.

9:50pm - Before bed there's either emails and blog-related things to do or readings for uni. Having a sweet but hyperactive kitten with a penchant for chewing on everything in sight makes is very hard not to get distracted.

10:45pm - Time to get ready for bed; I brush my teeth and wash my face thoroughly with Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamins & Extracts Scrub. I use it every second day and find it helps keeps my face free from those annoying little flakey patches of skin. It also smells delicious.

11:00pm - I like reading for a while until I doze off most nights. At the moment I'm getting through Moby Dick as I feel I should know the story if I'm selling little Moby Dick book brooches and necklaces in my shop.

Here's a winter outfit I wore just before I got my braces off! I would have posted it a lot sooner but photos seem to have gotten lost on my computer and I only just came across them again this week. Some of these pieces, such as the Gorman jacket and Modcloth stockings, are still on my list of favourites this winter and are getting a lot of wear. The lovely Russian designer Ulyana Sergeenko has been one of the most inspiring people for me fashion-wise this year so, even though she's not a blogger, I'm dedicating this 'I ♥ your look' post to her. I really admire her string sense of style; she always manages to look perfectly polished, feminine and whimsical all rolled into one. The way she manages to look fashionable without looking like everyone else is a goal I'd like to achieve more in my own day-to-day style too!

Gatsby Winter Ball

Since starting swing dancing with Swing Patrol about a month ago, I've had more opportunities to get dressed up because of all the balls and events that have been held during the Melbourne International Jazz Festival. With the Great Gatsby movie coming out earlier this month, 20's fever seems to be setting in and a lot of the events have been 1920's themed. Luckily my workplace has the perfect dresses for these kind of special occasions, so I bought my beaded flapper dress from there!

Gatsby-inspired wishlist

After going to my first swing dancing ball this past weekend (I dressed 1920's in a beaded, flapper-style Alannah Hill dress) and impatiently awaiting the release of the Great Gatsby (finally seeing it this weekend!), I'm feeling inspired by all the decadent dresses, jewel-encrusted accessories and fur/feather jackets and shawls. May inspiration

Can you believe it's already the last few weeks of autumn? I love Melbourne in autumn, it's so pretty and green with lots of piles of leaves to swish through. I'm looking forward to the mid semester break so I can head back over to Adelaide and visit my family. Have a lovely weekend!

Autumn florals

This is what I wore on my Berlei shopping trip last week. Thanks to my lovely friend for accompanying me and taking these shots. I love how pretty and green Melbourne becomes in Autumn. I've been getting a lot of wear out of this floral dress from Choies since receiving it a while ago; it's so easy to just throw on with tights and a coat when I'm in a rush and I love the touch of the little white collar. Berlei Dig-free review & $1,000 giveaway (CLOSED)

When Berlei approached me last month with the wonderful opportunity to try out their new dig free hosiery and host a giveaway with $1,000 of prizes for my lovely readers I jumped at the chance! Firstly, I took Berlei up on their offer of a review and went on a shopping trip with my best friend while wearing the Berlei Dig-free stockings to test them out.

We started out on Chapel Street at Topshop and Sportsgirl, then went to the city to shop around in Typo, Novo, Cotton On Body, Target, David Jones, Dotti and Forever New. I wore a pair of the Berlei Dig-free opaque tights in 100 denier. I'm a huge fan of stockings and stay ups, which I wear nearly every day, so was keen to review these. The usual brands I wear are Ambra, Razza Matazz, Voodoo, Platinum, Target and I've also tried various supermarket brands.

I found the Dig-free tights a lot more comfortable than the usual tights I wear as the waistband is made from one large tube which doesn't cut in at the top. Also, there is no front seam so these tights didn't leave that annoying line down my stomach at the end of the day like other tights do.

Berei's Dig-free tights come in two sizes, average/tall and tall/x-tall, so as I'm an AUS/UK size 6 I went with the average/tall. I found the length perfect; they gave even coverage and good warmth and didn't wrinkle at the ankles. Because I'm on the petite side, I found the waistband was a bit loose for me, but the tights still stayed up without any problems all day.

After an afternoon coffee break we ventured into Target to have a look at the new sleepwear range by Arabella Ramsay for Bambi. I love the prints and designs from this collection and think it's a great start to Arabella Ramsay's foray into sleepwear. As you may already know if you follow me on Instagram/Facebook, I snapped up the blue floral pyjama set quick smart!

Picnic at Hanging Rock

I've never been to visit hanging rock before, though now that I'm in Victoria it's definitely on my list of things to do. I read the book Picnic at Hanging Rock early last year and its still stayed with me; it's a well written and slightly chilling book that I'd definitely recommend. The national park that my sister and I visited this day reminded me of the book as it was very scrubby and lonely looking in parts.

The Lolita mini book necklace I'm wearing is now available to purchase on my little shop, along with a Moby Dick version too. This cute bird-print skirt from Chicwish is still available from their store in a similar navy version but I am also selling this one on my blog shop if you're interested! LMFF 2013 highlights

I hope you all had a lovely weekend (and are still enjoying the long weekend here in Australia!). Last week I went to the L'Oreal Paris Runway #7 event at the Melbourne Fashion Festival, where Gorman, Jolet, Karen Walker, Kuwaii, Leonard St, Limedrop and Secret South presented their collections. They were all great collections and the venue was huge this year. These were my favourites from the show...

The Karen Walker show featured 60's inspired outerwear in toffee and pink, soft polkadots and lady-like shirt and skirt combinations. I also loved the tan ankle boots and fluffy, relaxed knits from the show.

Limedrop had quite a mix of looks, my favourite being the gorgeous cloud-printed pieces, which reminded me of the past Sretsis collection, and also the head-to-toe gothic doll looks which were all black and topped with a black floral crown.

Gorman had a lot of super wearable looks that I just wanted to throw on right then and wear out. I loved the mixing of textures and prints in this collection, such as leopard print with salt and pepper grey knits, as well as the eye-catching silver ankle boots with the wooden heel.

Last but not least, Leonard St definitely stole the show for me with their adorable swan print pieces, chunky-knit beanies and scarves and backbacks full of barley. It prompted me to buy my very first beanie with a big pom pom on top yesterday!

After the show I caught up with lovely bloggers Connie from K is for Kani, Cecylia from Cecylia.com and Cheryl from Business Chic. I wore this new top and shorts set from Asos along with a furry Miss Selfridge bag and tapestry wedges from Rubi Shoes. I'll be doing an outfit post with them very soon as this set is my favourite thing in my wardrobe at the moment!

I've just updated my little shop with some new jewellery, including kitty & bell charm necklaces, bunny cameo necklaces and brooches, and Chanel mini perfume earrings. The Lolita and Moby Dick mini books are now available as necklaces and I've added a modelling shot to each item to give a better idea of how it looks when worn.

I'm excited to announce that shipping is now free worldwide! Also, does anyone have any experience with the pros and cons of an Etsy store? I'm considering opening a shop on there too but I'm not sure if the extra exposure would be worth the fees. Let me know in the comments if you have any advice!

Also, my sister is currently selling her own necklaces that she created for a Alice in Wonderland themed exhibition. 'Drink Me' is a one-off edition of five glass vials with a tiny piece of paper from the original book inside each one. Red Valentino Fall 2013

This adorable collection from Red Valentino has me planning some cute, cold weather looks that include velvet hair bows, embroidered accessories and knee high socks. I love the hair and makeup look too and wish my hair was long enough to do one of these over-the-head braids. Perhaps a braided headband will suffice?

I love March and this cool change is getting me in a DIY mood. I'm currently working on a Orla Kiely animal cardi and am also planning on making a velvet bow headband like the one used in this collection. Speaking of March, it's my blog's fourth birthday this month! I'm planning on celebrating with a giveaway very soon so check back soon.

Mercedes-Benz launch party

While I was away in Adelaide I had a really good time seeing my family, relaxing and unplugging from the online world for a while. While I was there, I was invited by the lovely Jenelle Witty to go to the Mercedez-Benz launch party at the art gallery. My sister accompanied me and we had a few glasses of champagne before galavanting around on the grass taking photos then watching the fashion show.

I found this dress a few months ago at a random store at the Spencer Street outlet in Melbourne; it's the perfect thing to throw on on really hot days. It reminds me a lot of some of the pieces from the Alice McCall Babushka collection that I was (and still am) obsessed with at the start of summer! I've also been working on these new rosebud chain belts in blue and pink, which will be available to purchase in my little shop very soon! Summertime sadness

While the hot days here in Adelaide is giving me awful heat stroke, it's still nice to get away for a bit and spend some time with my old friends and family. Tomorrow I'm heading into the city to see my sister's new studio and check out the Coffee Chocolate Wine exhibition in the evening (how could I say no?).

I've also been admiring a lot of the Autumn/Winter collections that have been coming off the runway and editing photos of the new items that will be popping up on my little shop later this week. Before I left I restocked the Lolita book brooches and the perfume brooches so there are a few more up for grabs now!

Working at Alannah Hill makes it really hard to save, particularly now that they've started to bring in the beginnings of the Autumn/Winter collection. Now that it's half way through the last month of summer here in Australia, I'm already planning ahead for my favourite season! Although I already have several similar tops, I adore the knit tee, knee high bow socks and pale pink jacket - these have all gone straight onto my wish list.

I'm off to Adelaide later tonight for a two week holiday to visit my family and friends there.
My shop will still be open during this time, but please note that orders won't be posted until 1st March when I return. Hope you all have a lovely valentines day whatever you choose to do!

I've been a follower of the lovely Claire from Stolen from Grandma for some time now and thought I'd share this look of hers with you as it's one of my favourites.
