It was such a beautiful day I couldn't resist taking photos. Especially when I had yet to show off my favourite new striped top from Club Monaco and the CHRISHABANA Cross earrings that arrived in the mail today! This top is part of the S/S'10 Collection for Club Monaco and isn't in stores just yet. I love that the back hem is longer than the front; it's the perfect length to wear with leggings. It also has cute cap sleeves, which I forgot to show because it was a little chilly out.

H&M trench coats and I have a history. I bought a regular length trench coat in the same colour last year, returned it and have regretted it ever since. Now every time I go to H&M, I check to see if a similar jacket is in stock, but to no avail. Until recently, I came across this short version with the option to have the sleeves rolled up to a 3/4 length. It was a done deal. I bought it and haven't looked back. I especially love the tortoise shell buttons.

The beige trench is a classic coat that every girl should have.

I love the metallic sheen on this beige dolman-sleeved sweater that I bought at the grand opening party for LYNNsteven in Gastown. The owner of Gastown's newest boutique, Nicole Dennis Durnin, is an absolute delight (and I'm not just saying that because she has the same name as me!), so be sure to drop by when you're in the neighbourhood and have a look!

Personally, I always worry about large body-engulfing-type sleeves because of my petite stature, but this surprisingly works! Either that or I was so determined to make it work, the sweater just didn't have a choice in the matter haha. I'm loving the beautiful weather we've been having in Vancouver lately, aren't you?

I hardly ever wear my hair pulled back or up, but lately I've been so busy running around trying to maintain 2.5 jobs that sometimes it's just easier to have my hair tied back and out of my face. I like the top knot because it's a sophisticated chic look that can be worn for work, every day, or even a night out on the town.

This necklace is actually a pocket watch/locket/necklace and I remember buying it awhile back because I fell in love with the filigree design. And if you're wondering, yes I am crazy; it was freezing cold without tights on. Sunshine in Vancouver is so deceiving at times... and my pasty white legs are in dire need of a tan.

It's a relatively easy style to pull off but I can see how some people may have trouble with it, I'm considering doing a video tutorial, so I'll keep you posted!

I thought I'd try something new and have a section for photos I've taken throughout my day to document where I've been and what-not. I remember the first time I got a digital camera (for Christmas, I believe) and I took that thing with me everywhere and I took pictures every chance I got. I missed that, so with the weather starting to improve, I figured I'd pick up one of my favourite past times and incorporate it into my blog. I hope you like it!

I almost didn't buy this leather jacket, but I'm glad I did. I've always wanted a black leather jacket because it's a staple but I thought I'd change it up and go with a gunmetal grey instead. This is my new favourite blouse, I've been wearing it with everything (high waist dress pants, shorts, and boyfriend jeans) - I absolutely LOVE it, especially all the tiny grey polka dots!

If you're wondering why my tights look a little messed up, I made the mistake of wearing them with a sequined skirt. A little unintentional DIY resulted in a pair of slightly destroyed tights, which I still think looks great. Also, I tried a multicoloured manicure because I always wear rings on my index and third fingers. I didn't want to leave my pinky and ring finger out so I thought I'd paint them a different colour - what do you think?

I met up with Jeremy for a photowalk in the heart of Gastown, Vancouver over the weekend and these are some of my favourite shots. I love this floral jumper because of how the colour pops against the urban landscape. I almost wore the jumper tucked into a pair of high waist dress pants, but I'm glad I opted for lace tights instead.

I've been wanting this sweater from Club Monaco for awhile but they never seemed to have my size in the grey. As it turns out, I bought a small instead of an extra small because I love the way the loose fit draped on my shoulders; plus it's more comfortable! This is my favourite way to wear it with a lace top underneath so it looks like a one-piece with a lace inset. I like playing with contrast. The soft grey of the top and sleek edge of the liquid leggings create a perfect harmony; at least in my mind. The yellow flower ring was a gift from my mom hence its unknown origin. She said she saw it and thought of me (thanks mom!)

My apologies for being extremely behind on my blog and replying back to all your wonderful comments. I'm definitely going to have to try harder to keep up, esp now that I have a second job at a restaurant (oh the things I do for shoes! lol) I'll have to be better about my time management and priorities. I really appreciate your continuous comments, support, and most importantly your patience; you guys are incredible!

I've had a few comments and emails regarding my makeup so I'm currently working on a makeup post :)

If you couldn't tell from the photos, I can't wait for Spring to arrive. Sure it'll probably mean more rain, but it also means we are one more season closer to the warmth and sunshine of the Summer time. Not gonna lie, I miss wearing a lot of my peep toe shoes!

P.S. These jeans are so comfortable, I've fallen asleep in them before.
Now that's my idea of comfort.

So I almost purchased a silver sequined blazer, but this Chanel-esque jacket caught my eye and I bought it instead. Now I'm just trying to figure out whether I "NEED" it or not.

Update: The jacket has been returned, oh well.

I bought more scarves! I got a bright lilac one and a steel blue one for colour, but I want to get another black scarf and a grey one as well because they're staples and I wear a scarf practically every day. I got these scarves at $7.50 CAD a piece from F21! They're 100% viscose and drape quite nicely. Talk about dirt cheap.

Lately, I've been looking for a light foundation that has a nice, dewy finish and I finally found it! I love Laura Mercier products and swear by them. I know the line is a tad pricey but personally, I spare no expense when it comes to what I put on my face (only the best!). This illuminating tinted moisturizer is no exception. It makes my skin glow and I absolutely LOVE it.

Wow I can't believe I've reached 100 posts! Time sure flies. I love these lace/fishnet tights. I bought them at the F21 in LA. I wish I had bought more. These Acne Metropolitan suede pumps are the first things I bought after my shopping ban, but with Christmas and the holidays, I didn't get a chance to post about them and kind of forgot about them too. But my favourite part of this outfit is the vintage fur collar which I bought at the Salvation Army store for $10! I'm still trying to figure out the best way to secure it to the lapel of my blazers. Any ideas?

I love the sequined shoulders of this sweater along with its particular shade of grey. I'm a sucker for all things monochromatic. If you didn't notice in my last post concluding Mission: Impossible (my 40-day shopping ban), my shopping du jour was a massive pile of clothes in shades of black, white and grey. I say I can't help it, but I can, I just don't want to. These Loeffler Randall ankle boots are my favourite purchase from Barney's in LA. I almost didn't buy them, but I couldn't resist the tri-coloured suede.

Wow, I think this is the longest post I've ever written. Appropriate given the title of this post. To keep it brief, the shopping ban did start off slow and proved to be difficult (shopping withdrawal), but eventually I got the hang of it. I made sure to keep myself focused on creating new outfits based on my current wardrobe to deter from shopping. It does get easier and it definitely helps to train yourself to ask questions like, "Do I really need this?" or "Do I already have something like this?" to avoid unnecessary and impulse purchases.

Since the end of my shopping ban, you can imagine I had quite the hey-day when Boxing Day arrived. Quite the contrary. I didn't wake up early nor did I wait in any ridiculous line ups. I slept in and took my sweet ass time getting Downtown. I hit up Gastown, then made my way to Pacific Centre and ended up on Robson Street. All in all, I fared well and only ended up with 2 items from Aritzia. The rest of my purchases are from earlier today.

The funniest thing happened to me when I was at Burgoo having brunch. I ran into an old co-worker Natalie and two of her friends, Anna and Milynne. As it turns out Anna reads my blog and follows me on Twitter! (Hi Anna!) So it was my very first encounter with one of my readers and she was an absolute delight, albeit shy to approach me at first but once we started talking shop (fashion and shopping), it was all downhill from there. To Anna and Milynne, it was a pleasure meeting you two! Hope to run into you again some time around this little city we call Vancouver :) I also had an almost encounter with Nicole (Hi Nicole!). She's better known as #nicolethemathwhiz (inside joke) and I know her through Twitter. She was working when I was in her store shopping so we didn't get a chance to chat but hopefully next time! :)

My apologies for neglecting my blog and you my dear readers. However, I do want to take the time to thank you all for visiting and leaving comments, I appreciate each and every one of them. I also want to thank you all for your wonderful support since I started my blog back in August. It's been a lot of fun and I plan on continuing to blog through to the new year and see where that takes me.

Unfortunately, as you all know, it's ridiculously cold out; hence the lack of blog posts. I have technically completed my shopping ban and came out successful. I started on the 1st of November and ended on the 10th of December. However, I will continue my project and post outfits until I reach Day 0. At times it was more difficult trying to create an outfit with my existing wardrobe than it was to not shop (believe it or not). But I did have a new-found appreciation for the clothes I already have while discovering new ways to wear them. All in all, I started this shopping ban not knowing if I could do it or how well I'd fare, but I am now living proof that it IS possible to NOT shop for 40 days straight!

This will be my last post until the new year, so thank you all again for everything. I wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I love this faux leather jacket and bought it solely because of the colour. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what it is. It's like a fleshy-nude with a tinge of blush. I love folding up the sleeves to show the really cute floral print lining underneath. Definitely not the best jacket for the weather we've been having lately, but if you layer on enough, it's bearable. I'm beginning to think I may have to hold off on finishing this project until better weather or longer days...

This is my idea of 'comfortable chic'. I don't think I've blogged about these boots before. Not sure why since I wore them almost everyday after I bought them earlier this past summer. Given it's a pain to put them on because each boot has about 4 straps that you have to manually do up. But once you get the hang of it, these bad boys are good to go; not to mention comfortable to boot (har har). I love this jacket too, it was the perfect summer jacket, but unfortunately nowadays it's too cold to wear on its own. Therefore, it works well as a layering piece especially with its flowiness.

After a week long road trip to Los Angeles, it feels bittersweet to be back in Vancouver. Bitter because of the freezing cold temperatures that my body refuses to adapt to and sweet because I left my laptop at home and I missed blogging! I was in LA for two nights then traveled to San Francisco for another two nights. There was a lot of driving in between and we hit up almost all of the outlet malls along the way. Overall it was a good trip filled with good memories. I definitely needed to get away and have a change of atmosphere - it's refreshing and I'm glad to be back. Although, I can't say the same about work but I digress. I think I've exhausted my will to shop, imagine that.

Day 29 of mission: impossible

I'm loving the beautiful, sunny days we've been having this week - minus the cold, hence why I'm wearing leggings and not tights. When it starts to snow, my legs will start to look thick because I will be layering tights under leggings while trying to jam them into long johns somehow. I am not made for cold weather and if I could afford to, I would make like a Korean snow bird and head south for the winter. However, I'm going to the next best place, Los Angeles! I will be leaving in T-minus 4 hours on a very random, very spontaneous road trip with a few friends (yes, we are driving all the way down there). I'm not sure if I'll be bringing my laptop to blog while I'm away considering I still haven't started packing yet... I'm honestly the worst type of packer ever - the last minute packer.
