It would be too tiresome to write out an email describing each and every entrant and what I thought of each photo. If a picture tells a thousand words, then this essay is already at 26,000.

We would like to thank every single person that submitted a photograph. Every one of them was fantastic. It was difficult to whittle them down, but in the end we did, but a consequence was that I could not reward just one person. So here they are:

My Favourites So Far.....

In no order of importance I will give you some of my favourites that I have seen out of the collection submitted:

1. Charles Theodore Martin, Canberra, Australia : Although only taken with an iPhone, I think this shows off the bow tie quite nicely and has a face full of mirth.

2. Angelo Flaccavento, Ragusa, Italy: There is a certain Van Gogh self-portrait feel to this image. Very cool.

3. Pierre-Jean Housse, Paris, France: Out there, quirky, French.

4. Danny Hsu, Kings Cross, Sydney, Australia: This is a gem. It stands out, it shows off a great bow tie, it has all the trappings of a winning photo.

5. Jonas Ek, Genarp, Sweden: Not bad for a first time bow tie wearer.

6. Oskar Buhre, Sydney, Australia: Very well presented, very clean image.

7. Nicholas Tobias, Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia: The colour of the beach background coupled with the black and white, the return to the 20's feel, pearls, sunglasses, thin moustache.

8. George Quraishi, New York, New York: Because it reminds me of a Chuck Close painting.

What a fantastic set of photos! To all of you that submitted, well done, there is not one bad photo amongst them. I think there will have to be more than one prize on this competition - I cannot just reward the winner. Here they all are in one post, feel free to let us know your thoughts as a comment below.

I am so incredibly proud of the diversity of people who emailed their images in, the individuality of style, the different backdrops. Thank you thank you thank you. You widen the view I have of the world from down here in Sydney and I am so very happy to know that some of my bow ties have landed themselves in such far away places and that regardless of who made your bow, you are happy to let others have a glimpse of your lives, your own unique style.

Thank you to the 19 entrants in the bow tie portrait competition. The photos are magnificent. Each has it's own unique style and charm and it has been far more successful than I ever anticipated. I really don't think I can decide on a winner so I am going to farm out some of the judging responsibility to you the readers, as well as our email list, and then to run through the final selection with some close friends too.

Not one of the bow tie portraits is not worthy of a prize, so bear with us whilst we whittle down the list to find which ones we think were the most outstanding of a prized group of portrait photos.

Dear LNP,

Attached is my humble, and rather last minute submission to the competition. I am wearing the LNP pink ‘Candy’ whilst playing with a new camera.

The photos were taken just earlier today whilst having a relaxing lunch at Gastro Park in Kings Cross with great friends (and fellow photography enthusiasts!).

I would never forget the first time that I stumbled upon your blog, which opened my eyes to the wonderful world of bowties. Since then, I have never turned back from embracing a bit of old-fashioned dandyism and adding a touch of elegance to my day-to-day wardrobe.

A year and a half ago I used a Canclini Rothschild 200 cotton to make this exact same shirt. The trouble is, I wear shirts every day, so after 18 months; and I should say, I rarely get through any meal without putting half of it down my front - I was not raised that well, we ate with the food in the centre of the table, so it was an all-in grab kind of affair, which meant that a good deal of it, between hoarding and wolfing, would land on your shirt - I'm drawing for a breath here - so, alas, after 18 months, it needed replacing - and this time we used Carlo Riva fabric.

This is a particular collar that gets my shirt maker shitty. The arrow point really takes an extra bit of time to complete, along with the contrast band on the cuff. He doesn't like to do it for me, let alone my clients - so we usually add on a little extra because of the time it takes. Regards, N.

The First Carlo Riva Shirt Off The Press...

There is one good thing about the devaluation of the Euro, it does mean that they are more competitive when exporting. A few years ago this fabric would have been out of my price range, today it is still expensive, but can be owned and below is the first customer's shirts in Carlo Riva Tessitura. I will provide feedback further down the track. This is a Royal Oxford weave white cotton. Lovely and breathable fabric.

A Work In Progress - Ivan Crivellaro

I asked Ivan Crivellaro to make me a pair of shoes after I interviewed him about his craft and how he saw himself as an artisan. I asked Ivan if he would share with me some photos along the way and to keep me posted as he made decisions about how my shoes would come together. When I quizzed him the other day about one or two details he wrote this back:

"N_. , forgive me, not arrogance, but I can create all the century and nuances that you want, maybe if you allow me I give you another particular type of dyeing technique, I realized that, so it 'will be' even more 'special' "

Summer Down Under: This is a client of mine, who doesn't wish to appear on my blog despite his sharp eye for clothes and colour co-ordination. Closing Date For Portrait Submissions

If you follow the blog then you will know that we have received 15 fantastic portrait submissions of customers and bow tie enthusiasts who have sent in their favourite portrait photo wearing their favourite bow tie from all over the globe.

We must inform you that we are closing off submissions on the 12th February, 2012 and after that we will be determining the winner via feedback through Facebook, Twitter, The Blog and our email engine room. We will be deciding on the winner on Valentine's Day (14th February) and dispatching the goods to the winner on the following day.

Please feel free to submit, we will take any submission provided it covers the following criteria:

The best submission will receive a package of three bow ties (one black mogador, two limited editions), a cravatte and a silk belt. The package is worth over $700.00 AUD

The criteria to win is simple. We are looking for the best photo which will combine the following elements:

1. Your absolute favourite bow tie - it does NOT need to be a Le Noeud Papillon

2. A portrait styled photo as shown above.

3. Unique background setting

4. Quality of photograph and lighting conditions
