A New Day Has Come

Remember Celine Dion's single A New Day Has Come back in '02? I do, but that's because it's one of my favorite songs from her. She's an amazing woman and I love her for that. She's one of my favorite people and my idol.

You're most likely wondering why I'm talking about her? It's actually because of the song. Because for me, a new day has come. The last half of my 2016 was so bad it destroyed me. I lost myself and it was very difficult to face a new day. I tried to distract myself by making myself busy. I focused on work and school. I even stayed away from the business. Just because it was so hard. I gave a toast to my tears, letting the headaches pass the next day. It was bad. I was destroying myself.

But I realized that all of those things were in the past and there was nothing I could change. I learned to accept reality. And that was... things will never go back to the way they were. It will never be. I made myself busy, learning to love things again, appreciating them more.

And I succeeded.

I am at peace with my self. I accepted my flaws entirely, and I learned how to smile, again. That was then I realized that I've become stronger.

Then, I had thought that 2016 was the worst year of my entire existence. I was ready to believe that... until a glimmer of hope slowly approached. I had doubts, but I literally told myself, "Phyllis, go for it. You're not getting any younger. If it doesn't work, it doesn't. But if it does then you're one lucky lady."

A new day has come, literally.

"I was waiting for so long, for a miracle to come."

This glimmer of hope helped me realize so many things. This hope is a person and he's done so many things I've always wished someone would do for me. Things that I never would expect for someone to do for me. I am always in awe, and surprised everyday. I'd end up smiling out of the blue. Sometimes, it makes me cry (joyfully tearing up) just thinking about it because it's very important. He's become very important to me. He has made me the happiest I could be. Well, that makes him my inspiration to keep going, to keep facing the challenges that's thrown in front of me.

A new day has come, and new days will always come.

And to this person, you are the light in the darkness I was trapped in. I am, in yours.

And again, thank you.

One heck of a bittersweet summer

Summer of 2015, Chicago.

This is where it all began.

I met him a few months before, in California. We exchanged social media info (Snapchat), along with the new people I met that day. Those people became very important friends of mine.

We didn't properly talk until May, after he replied to one of my snaps. That was the beginning of our friendship.

For the first time in a long time I felt genuine happiness, and indeed I was. I couldn't explain how I felt, but it was different. I found someone who I could tell stuff that I haven't told my friends. I had shared my life story, and so did he.

Him and I became close and eventually became official.

There was a catch. He lived in Illinois, and little old me in Florida. Our distance was more than a thousand miles apart, and that was the hardest part in our relationship. Even though it was very difficult, I kept myself optimistic and I looked forward to the next time I'll see him. It was a brand new relationship, yet my attraction to him was becoming more than I had expected. Truthfully, I hadn't expected anything at all. I didn't expect he'd ask me to become his.

I had no experience in being in a relationship, a serious one to be exact. Everything felt surreal that I had to keep asking myself if it was real. It took me a while, but it eventually sink in. Not knowing anything, I just prayed that everything will be alright.

Everything felt really good. I love you's were said, and every single time I hear that my heart would skip a beat and I feel this tingling sensation in my tummy. Just like something out of a novel, right?

Las Vegas.

Back to Chicago.

It wasn't easy being in that kind of a relationship. But I took the risk, and continued to love him despite the distance. It wasn't always happy, but we got through them.

I changed and it was for the better. Acquaintances told me, I look prettier (hahaha). Maybe because I've been happy that I gained more confidence? Definitely. He helped me with a lot of things, and for that I'll always be grateful. He was always there, and I'll always love him for that.

San Jose, 2016.

I had the greatest time on that trip. I was overflowing with happiness...

And I should've realized then. Every time I become too happy, nature always has its way to balance it out. Something doesn't want me to be always happy.

It was last time we saw each other...

And on June, the summer of this year, he ended our relationship.

Before that, throughout the month of May, I suffered a little bit of depression. It was kinda bad because (already) at the same time there was no sign of warmth coming from him. That added to the stress I'm trying to deal with.

So when it happened, my world crumbled.

Dreams and hopes crushed, and I eventually lost myself.

Nothing indeed lasts forever.

Love and optimism couldn't compete with someone who already fell out of love, so the only possible way was to give up.

And I did, with a heavy heart, I gave up.

My friend's always asking how I'm doing and I'd answer I'm fine. I'm great at showing a completely different side of me to other people.

Another me that's free of problems. Another me that's just always smiling.

But, that 'me' is someone I do not know.

The 'me' that I created to help me cope.

My life has been all over the place since then. It's been difficult. I turned cold. I didn't want to do anything at all. All the positivity I have disappeared.

Eventually I succumbed to depression, but nobody really knew that, until now.

Business, work, and other relationships have been affected.

The negativity that spiraled my thoughts were too much.

I didn't know if I could make it. I didn't how to handle this kind of thing, but there was something I was sure of.

I wanted something new and fresh.

Two months later,

Summer of August 2016, Chicago.

I came back to the city that held so many memories. It was hard because there were still lingering emotions.

But, I went there for a completely different reason. It was to have fun and meet up with childhood friends that I have not seen for such a long time. It was also there that I came to terms with my feelings and reality. I left those crushed dreams and hopes in Chicago, letting it get swept away by its powerful wind.

And for the first time that summer, I felt a small spark ignite within me. It's still small, but I could feel it. Knowing that I've felt it, I know that everything will be alright. Not right now, but soon...

And I can't wait for that moment when I can finally stand on my own and look ahead to more opportunities.

Life if full of those anyway.

Hi loves! How's everyone? Okay, this post will be brief. I wanted to let you guys know that I recently made a life-changing decision! Yessss... Okay, that might be exaggerated, but still. I finally got myself addicted to planners and stickers, and washis, and everything else! I've had quite a few planners, but I wasn't really able to utilize them. So, now. I purchased my Kate Spade planner, and I wanted to do something to change my daily routine, for myself. So far, I really enjoy cutting cardstocks, putting stickers on my planner.

And I wanted to share you my new instagram account, @agentcandyyy solely for my DIYs, crafts, and planning for my planner! Hopefully you guys follow! Thank you so much!

Slowly Going Back To Blogging

Hi everyone! Or whoever's been waiting for this blog post. I've been missing in action. I thought I was just on hiatus, but then things happened and I completely disappeared from the blogosphere.

There are tons of drafts just waiting to be opened and type in words. But there was nothing. Nothing would come to mind, and I lost my way. I lost my words.

Kind of like, I didn't know how to blog anymore. I used to blog with all my emotions in it, but after going through disappearing blogs and losing all my posts, it was hard. It was really hard to go back to blogging.

I got busy too... I started working again, and I had this business. It was stressful. People were expecting too much from me. But with all those hard work, I wasn't expecting to travel to different cities at the start of this year. And that was the best part.

January this year, I visited California. It was for a conference. A really great one, actually. But, because of that I was able to experience great things. I was able to see one of the cities in my bucket list.

I saw the Golden Gate Bridge only in movies and shows. Seeing it personally was overwhelming. I hadn't hoped of what I'll be seeing in San Francisco.

We even visited the Muir Woods. I'm not sure what it was called, but it was amazing. I've always been a nature person. I prefer camping in the woods than going to the beach nowadays, at least I feel at peace and calm when I'm next to the trees. Thousands of hundred year old redwoods trees.

Those are Tiff and Jon by the way, taking a break because we actually climbed up the trail, unprepared. Then they started running and left us.

Then, we reached the top. An incredible view. It was just so beautiful!

And that was the start of my adventure...

I met new people, became really good friends with them now.

(This post sounds so emotionless... haha I guess I don't know how to express myself anymore. But I'll get there.)

SUMMER DIARIES: Roadtrip to New York! Part 1

This is a long-overdue post, but I am still extremely excited to share you my road trip experience with my friend and her family. As you all know, I went north, and this time I went past Florida! I wasn't really able to contain my excitement. I thought to myself, "Whoa, finally stepping on another state besides Florida!!!"

[MAY 2014] We took my friend's car, her Robin. Yeah her Juke's named Robin. :D

Cruise control is the best invention of all time. Great for traveling long distances, especially from Miami to New York.

We stopped at North Carolina to eat dinner as we were already starving. Driving up to New York felt like I was reliving the story from Paper Towns where the characters drove up to New York.

This was am amazing morning shot on the streets of Washington, DC. We got to DC at around 4, and our check-in time was 7am at the hotel we were staying at so we had time to kill despite our tummies growling. We waited for Starbucks to open and we were the first customers. That was exciting too.

The short corner building was the hotel we stayed at (Harrington Hotel). The hotel had a great history, and they were celebrating their 100 years of service! Amazing, a hundred year old hotel. For a century old hotel, it was great.

We only stayed their overnight. The staff was very friendly too!

We spent our only day touring (after my friend's family went to the Philippines Embassy to renew passports, which I do not recommend because there was one lady there who had no respect for elders. She was yelling at old people!). Before our tour, we were at this Thai restaurant and I completely apologize because I forgot the name of the resto, but they had amazing food!

This was my second time visiting Washington, DC and I am glad to be back. I remember going there for the first time back in '09 and I was mind blown at how amazing it was. I even decided I'd take Political Science or International Relations as a major after high school. Well, that obviously didn't happen.

Our last night in Washington, DC, my friend and I strolled the streets at night (after eating Korean dish for dinner) and couldn't believe that at 7PM, they were already closing their stores. I guess we got used to the noise in Miami.

We were just having fun out in the streets taking pictures, vlogging, and taking selfies. We weren't scared, really, coz the streets were filled with police officers! Even our hotel was packed with police officers. We were told that there was a convention going on, so we were lucky! I've never felt safer in my entire life!

Back in the Magic City

Hi everyone!!

Gosh, how long has it been? I'm finally back from my 2 and a half month vacation in the Philippines with the family.

Adjusting to the time is such a hassle and I'm still recovering from the 12-hour difference of time. I still feel groggy... And wow, I'm not surprised by the humidity Miami has but I'm not used to it anymore. Sure, Philippines is a tropical country, and extremely hot, but the wind kinda helps with the hotness and windows in houses are open, so there's ventilation.

Anyway, my vacation was extremely fun. Of course, I met up with my friends from elementary and highschool. Surprised of their changes and some who didn't change... Or did I just grow taller.. A little bit? Haha.

I would share pictures, but I'm having problems with my macbook (it wouldn't boot) so pictures will be delayed.

The photo above is one of the beautiful sunrises in the Philippines taken at the Bay in Guinsiliban, Camiguin. I woke up extra early to catch this sunrise. (That photo is also memorable... Hehe *wink*)

I went to a lot of places actually, and it was really fun! Cities that I've known since I was kid are rapidly developing. Just like my hometown, Pagadian City.

Nostalgia kept me company the entire time I passed by every street that I remember.

So many places, and so many moments to share.

Summer Diaries: Yet Another Bowling Night

When we became college students, it was hard for us to see each other. Despite having technology to save us for keeping in contact, it's still different when you don't see your friends personally.

This time, well, for the first time, we hung out as college students and happily celebrated the end of the year. And for some, survived freshmen year.

We went to Buca di Beppo, an Italian restaurant, with amazing food! The first time I've been to the restaurant was their branch in DC. It's only my second time here, and the food's great! We had an amazing waitress too.

After the restaurant, we decided to go bowling! Again!

I really don't have a skill for this sport.

Summer Diaries: Fishing at Night

My summer started on the last week of April and by the time two weeks passed, I was already having fun with friends. I don't know if you know one of my favorite hobbies, but you might be shocked.

Yes, I love fishing. My dad goes fishing a lot, and I find it so relaxing and calming.
And hey, I know how to fish too! Reeled in most of these actually.

We stayed at the beach until about 3 in the morning. I was with Dad, my friend and her parents. The hilarious thing was that my friend came to the beach from her workplace, and since she was so tired, she fell asleep on the sand. It was quite hilarious at that time actually.

My aunt was able to caught a baby hammerhead shark twice and stingray, but we had to put it back in the water.

My favorite part of fishing at night is that I'm able to see the stars. There were visible stars despite the light pollution.

But it was fun. I had fun.

Summer Diaries: Weekend

I WANT A BUNNY!!!

I am dying to get one, but sadly and depressingly we can't really have a pet right now because of certain circumstances. But this one's Ginger, the cutest I've met so far. This is one of my best friend's second bunny.

Here's an adorable selfie of me and Ginger. If you're friends with me on snapchat then you've met him already... I sent a video of Ginger being cute on Snapchat and Instagram.

Hashtag no edits. Wore my newest bandeau from Charlotte Russe. This is kind of the same as the one from Brandy Melville.

Later that night, after playing the sports game from Kinect we decided to do the real thing! My friends and I went bowling!

The teams were split into two with 5 people in each team. I haven't bowled in months, and I don't particularly have a skill in throwing a heavy ball expecting to roll in a straight line, so mine went in the gutter for 3 turns!

Summer Diaries: Sunrise

For my summer diaries series, I'll only be blogging about INTERESTING things! Times when I get out of the house...

And for my first entry, it's called Sunrise. Yes, this is my first sunrise this year. I was so excited.

Going to Haulover Beach early in the morning (around 6:30am) was one of my accomplishments for my summer break.

Here's the story:

One of my best friends, wanted to take a hand-stand photo while the sun rises. It was for an instagram photo challenge. I was able to take great shots too. The videos will be put together by month and will be uploaded on my youtube channel.

Then, we were just playing around. We could've brought our other friends but they didn't want to wake up that early!

My bff had her polaroid so it was time to whip out that polaroid-selfies!

Here's one above by the rocks, and my hair was amazing... I just took off my scrunchie and bam, this happened!

Of course, the sunrise photo-op couldn't be missed. Too bad it was really cloudy that morning that after a couple minutes the sun hid behind the clouds!

Of course, let's not forget Starbucks frap in the morning. This is in one of their secret-menu flavors. BUT I forget what it was called!

Yikes...

More on the vlog soon! I'll be editing them at the end of the month! <3

At Last

At long last, I'm done with Spring term, done with that campus yet not graduating. It'll be a while before I'm able to graduate. Kinda sad, but hey it's how my life is currently running.

I wanna take some time to congratulate all my friends who are graduating this weekend. I know most of you have gone through hard-work and hard-earned passing grades for this!

Congratulations!!

It's incredible how I love summer, yet wary of the sun (I actually prefer winter). But I love summer clothes. I can freely wear shorts and tanks any time.

But I always look forward to new things and adventure... I am really hoping that something amazing would come about this summer. I really am looking forward to it.

Too excited!

Hi everyone... okay. I am just taking a short break from writing my essay (which is due tomorrow! gahhh I know... but still).

I wanted to share this wedding highlights video. I helped film this video, and thanks so much for the amazing editing as well. This is the first that they've used scenes I've filmed (more than what I'd imagined) (HINT: the dress, shoes, etc.) . It's really incredible. I loved filming this wedding. Actually, I loved filming all the wedding that the team and I did (DelightMedia is AMAZING!). This is an incredible experience.

Obviously, I have so many things to learn and I have to keep practicing to become better. Doing this job makes me really want to pursue filming.

Watching the brides and grooms in the weddings we've filmed, makes me hopeful about love.

Red Umbrella

Ohh how I love that this blog is a personal blog/style blog/lifestyle/travel. Makes everything seem easier to manage!

If you don't know me, I'm the type of girl, albeit being 21, who easily gets attracted to guys/boys/men, especially when they're absolutely good-looking. The eyes that pulls me and the smile that melts. Guys like that pass by me all the time and I couldn't really do anything... Too shy. Too much of a chicken. I definitely changed throughout the 3 years.

And now. I feel like every time I make a decision, it goes wrong.

And I just did a move that could've twisted my soul from embarrassment. I risked it. I'm all for it. I risked everything, and now it went to nothing.

My life is... so sad. I'm so disappointed at myself. I really want to cry so bad. But then again, I couldn't. I'd think I'm too weak...

Hello, Sun

One of those days where the weather is perfect and everything else is perfect.

You end up in a world of oblivion. The world masks the identities of things surrounding us. Of course, people wouldn't notice.

I'm not making much sense and I probably don't understand it myself... But the things that we are exposed to everyday changes us all the time. It could be good and could be bad as well.

I'm a nature-loving person. I love peace, the silence and just observing nature's flow of life around me. I guess that's the introvert in me talking, but I don't think I'm a total introvert. I love going out too, I do talk to people. I love parties, okay, I love the idea of parties and getting lost in the music.

And I 'love' too...

But I don't think I'm in love at the moment... It's just that I've been taken for granted consecutively in the past years that I decided to shield my heart. Pushing away potential interests... It's really card to cope when friendship and trust are on the line, and ended up breaking.

But I've moved on. I'm happy right now, maybe. Just going about everyday in life.

Hello Kitty perfume, Ole Henriksen African Red Tea foaming Cleanser, FAB moisturizer, FAB lip therapy, and Peter Thomas sleeping mask.

Extremely wonderful... my first high-end beauty haul this year. It was about time. I also needed a new cleanser and moisturizer.

I love Sephora so much, and they have a variety of brands. I've come across the First Aid Beauty products through Ingrid (Youtube Vlogger), she has all these FAB products that I just had to research about them. I'm still trying them, so I really do hope there are improvements on my lips and face for these products, then I'll be able to make a review for them.

Although, I'm definitely loving the FAB Ultra repair Lip Therapy right now. It works as a lip balm, but does wonders on my cracked lips!

Spring Blues: HASHTAG OOTD

The outfit I wore yesterday, for school, to the movies (went to see Divergent) and hung out at my friend's house. It wasn't cold at all, but I felt extremely cold (sick). Under the sweater is my favorite floral dress, paired with tights and oxfords.

I always know immediately that the seasons are about to change when my nose starts to clog and my asthma comes back. As I write this now, I am really sick. It's so hard to breath and my throat hurts every time I cough. Ahh, this feels so nostalgic. I was a very sickly person when I was a kid. But ever since moving here, I've gone from monthly attacks to yearly attacks.

The last time I was bed-ridden was almost a couple years ago. I just wish I'll be better soon!

One of my best friends, Kyle, said she got bored and painted her headboard.

Someday...

The Beach at 1st Street

VERY. VERY. VERY. UNHEALTHY!!! I know!!!

But, in a sleepover with hungry girls and a near McDonald's, we couldn't pass up the opportunity that was given to us. And by the way, we ordered 80 pieces of chicken nuggets. *checks my heart*.

The next day, without worrying about the high lipid food intake at midnight last night, we went to the beach in the afternoon to meet up with my friends' friends. I rarely go to this beach. This is literally in South Beach. The one by South Point.

The feel seems okay to me. Although I don't really expect waves to go really high in these parts, but it's still tolerable. We'll see, when I come back here again and ACTUALLY dip in the water.

No water for me that day... so let me play you some music...

The Wind That Goes

One of those days when this city never fails to surprise me, is one of those days. I ended up wearing tights over the skirt because it became so breezy and became a little bit cold! The fleece sweater was needed because my classrooms are extremely cold and I get sick so easily!

Not enough FroYo

Once in a while, when our minds are at their limit and they're about to explode, we just have to stop immediately and take a breath. Do not take a step forward. This time, let's take a step sideways and cool off our heads even for a few minutes.

I've always known that there is a frozen yogurt place by my school. My campus is literally composed of Downtown buildings. We are in the heart of the city (Hey! that's my story title!) and that's one thing I love about going to this campus. I was finally able to visit this little FroYo store with two of my friends.

The place is adorable. It's totally pink and white. Too cute to handle.

So, we destressed there for a while.

This is my view every single day from the parking lot spot. This is just amazing, all the time! This view inspires me to go on.

JANUARY VLOG

This was an insanely delayed vlog. I wasn't able to edit this until last month, and I am still working on my February vlog. Nothing much goes on in my everyday life so I just film whenever I can and edit whenever I have spare time.

A beauty in the middle of chaos

It is now 30 minutes before midnight, and I'm still taking my time thinking of what to write on here. I want to blog, but I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to blog. Before, when I started blogging, I would get so excited coming home and start pressing the keyboard, and then write about how my day was. It was really interesting.

Now, I questioned myself... Why do I blog? To whom am I blogging for? Really, I keep asking myself those and right now I am unable to.

I guess, I'm thinking too much, too many things that my brain couldn't comprehend what's what anymore. Then... nothing floats in my mind. Nothing at all. Right now, I'm trying to get back to where I left off before my previous blog (MDQ) disappeared.

I will soon get back to posting fashion, beauty, and lifestyle related posts :D

When the moon rises...

I was able to come back to the beach a week after my mini bbq party with my friend, to celebrate another friend's birthday with his family and family friends. This time around, we were able to eat more food. This is just saying how we'll struggle when we go somewhere without people who cooks.

But another day at the beach.

There is always that effect the beach has on me. The waves as it reaches the shore, touches my skin, prickling me to nothingness. It sucks me into something unrealistic.

Sometimes I think it's better that way, that I needed to get away from reality. Things that I wouldn't be able to handle if things continued on. The cerulean colored sea calms my nerves, and as my body submerges. Going deeper and deeper. Suspended in that void until I'm out of breath and needing to surface for air. That's when reality latches on to me.
