The LEAD Coalition has submitted its FY2027 appropriations letter to Congress. The letter, signed by 475 LEAD Coalition member organizations and allies, urges Congress to reassert our country’s non-partisan national priority to overcome Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders (AD/ADRD) by making robust appropriations for federal agencies and ensuring complete and timely expenditure of those funds for Congressionally-designated purposes. Requests include: 

  •  HHS ASPE: A direct appropriation to support the implementation of the National Alzheimer’s Project Act
  •  NIH: At least $51.3 billion for the agency; an $187,210,000 increase for AD/ADRD research at NIH; $468 million for the NIH BRAIN Initiative; an increase for the NIH INCLUDE Project; limits on multi-year funding; preserve current or explore alternative model for F&A costs.
  • CDC: At least $41.5 million to support the CDC Alzheimer’s Disease efforts and robust funding for the CDC National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP)  
  • ACL: An increase for the ACL Alzheimer’s Disease Program and an increase for Older Americans Act (OAA) Programs
  • HRSA: At least $58.245 million for the HRSA Geriatrics workforce programs
  • AHRQ: At least $500 million for AHRQ
  • FDA: An increase for the FDA to keep pace with its new scientific opportunities, including $7 million for the Neurology Drug Program (NDP)
  •  CMS: An increase for CMS to support current and emerging AD/ADRD resources
  • DOJ: An increase for the Missing Alzheimer’s Disease Alert Program

]]> 2045 LEAD Coalition Supports Passage of the ASAP Act http://www.leadcoalition.org/2026/03/09/lead-coalition-supports-passage-of-the-asap-act/ Mon, 09 Mar 2026 13:41:44 +0000 https://www.leadcoalition.org/?p=2009 On March 9, the LEAD Coalition (Leaders Engaged on Alzheimer’s Disease), the Alzheimer’s Association, and the Alzheimer’s Impact Movement (AIM) – along with 451 signatories – wrote to Congress in support of the bipartisan Alzheimer’s Screening and Prevention (ASAP) Act (H.R. 6130 / S.3267). The ASAP Act would authorize the Secretary of Health and Human Services to allow Medicare coverage for blood-based dementia screening tests, creating a clear and predictable clinical pathway for access to emerging detection tools.

Please read the House and Senate letters encouraging all Members of Congress to become co-sponsors. (Corresponding letters also were sent to the lead sponsors and current co-sponsors thanking them for their leadership.)
