Our initial review is as follows:

Positive:

Great prices.  They have some of the best prices for their leads

Negative:

The leads are horrible as a whole. So, despite the good prices, the bottom line is that the money you save is not worth the cost.  Here are some comments about these leads:

"I sold their leads a long time ago when they were MLMLeadGenie.  I thought I would try them again as MLMLeadSpecialist.  What a mistake.  It has been nothing but a mistake.  I have not had this much damage control to do from the customers that have bought these leads from me." ~ Anonymous Reseller

"The leads were shocked that I called them. Everyone is surprised I am calling them! I was calling these with a group of people and I was embarrassed. There were duplicate leads and many angry people.  I did not speak with one person who knew what I was talking about.  Horrible."  ~ P.K., Monavie

"I don't think I have ever requested a refund from a leads company before, but I did with them.  Not very impressed." ~ R.C., Mannatech

While I don' t really want to put down a leads company, it is amazing the number of negative feedback emails we have received. I would like to post something positive, but we never received any.

The purpose of this blog post is not to bash MLMLeadSpecialists, but to make our readers aware of what other customers are saying.

Affiliate programs are nothing new, but not too many lead companies have them anymore.  I miss the days of ProStep… for those of you who remember when ProStep was an MLM company.  I actually made quite a bit of money with them.

Today, most lead companies have some kind of a referral bonus… hey we'll send you some free leads if you refer someone.  That's nice, but I'd still rather have cash over leads… or both for that matter.

There are a couple of them out there, and I do understand that it's not about getting wealthy off of a leads affiliate program, but I do intend to make at least $300-$500 per month with the Pro Email Leads affiliate program.  Here's their banner. Just sign up for free and start promoting their leads.  It is a 2-tier affiliate program.  If you get 5 – 10 people a month who buy leads through your link, or if they are on your first or second tier, it won't be hard to make a nice bit of money with their 30% payout.

While it is certainly no ProStep (RIP), it is a decent way to make a few extra bucks.  This may be one of the better kept secrets out there. Check it out while it's still not flooded with affiliates.

1. User Feedback – you write us and let us know anything that has been good, bad, horrible, or outstanding.  Just click on the Contact Form above to send us any feedback on a leads company you would like us to know about.
2. Company Websites – Some companies have websites that look like they were designed in the 70's, long before the internet was around.  Basically we're looking for up to date information, lead details, and a sense that someone is running the business who has a moderate level of responsibility
3. Customer Service – I like to call up lead companies to see what kind of customer service they have.  Some have zero.  Some are pretty good.
4. Sales People – Am I buying a used car or am I speaking to someone who would actually be a partner in business.  Some people you speak to you would think you are speaking to a snake.
5. Length of Business – Some companies are just too new to make the cut… because we don't know much about them.  They could have been another leads company, but just changed names to hide their identity.

First Steps To Success seminar by Dani Johnson

As a brief background, Dani got started working a home business at the age of 19. After months and months of failing and being in debt, she was able to go from living from her car with only a few bucks to her name, to becoming the #1 recruiter and income earner in her company in only about a year's time.  And then, from a few bucks to earning a million dollars in about 2 years.

The cornerstone of Dani's training is her First Steps to Success Seminars.  She works with networkers to teach and train them how to attain that same type of success that she has experienced. She has a strong faith in God and a no-nonsense strategy in her training. She is 100% generic, so she is not promoting any company either. One of her most popular tools is the Dani Johnson Script Book. It has been recognized as getting one of the best tools for prospecting and closing in the network marketing industry. In her book, Dani gives quite a few helpful hints about prospecting and attaining a positive mindset you'll need to reach success. The majority of the book has scripts that can be made use of for a wide variety of recruiting scenarios, including calls, follow ups, objections, and in recruiting in person.

Her main focus is on calling leads and how you can treat it like an interview so your prospect will want to investigate your business!  In the script book she includes, direct approaches, practices, item retailing and closing scenarios. She also contains two cds to provide you with quite a few examples of how her scripts would be used in real life.

As one person I spoke with about a week ago told me, they had just attended her First Steps to Success seminar.  Afterwards, to see what the script book could do for their home-based business, they bought the book and began to apply techniques and implementing the scripts. Having a clear focus and mindset for  addressing their leads, they immediately saw a bump in their income… well more than a bump… it was a 10-fold increase.

The largest change for them was the new confidence they gained from the seminar, as well as now approaching prospects with better techniques and posture. No morebegging them, but now interviewing them and building raport and relationships. The tables were absolutely turned and my leads were now trying to prove to me what they had to offer!

So as far as I'm concerned, the Dani Johnson Script Book is absolutely worth the money! Network Marketing requires you to become good at prospecting and contacting leads.  You really can't expect to do this on your own. Her seminar and script book are what has made a significant distinction in thousands of home business professionals and I would absolutely suggest it to anyone.

While I don't have an answer for all of the details, in so many words the answer is yes.  Lead companies that were resellers for MLMLeadGenie.com received an email in mid-2009 that they should now begin buying their leads to resell from MLMLeadSpecialists.  Nothing really seemed to look or smell different… just seems to be the same leads with a different company name.

MLMLeadGenie has been around for many years and they have good relationships with a lot of MLM companies and top distributors within those companies to supply leads for their teams.  You don't last as long as they have by delivering a bunch of crappy leads.

With that said… Lead Genie is probably one of the companies that receives more complaints about the poor quality of their leads than any other company that we get reports on.  So, I'm not exactly sure what does keep them in business.  For every one good comment, I get nine bad ones.

Some people complain just to complain. In many cases, I could take a list of leads that one person complained about, give it to a more experienced, seasoned networker, and he/she could get some results out of it.  But, when the complaints keep coming, there might be a pattern forming.

MLMLeadSpecialists/MLMLeadGenie have some of the best prices of any leads company out there.  I really believe they are worth testing.  Go buy 100 of their leads and test the numbers out for yourself.  It's the only way you'll ever know.  If you get results, then you may have just found a cheaper MLM lead than what you had been buying.  Or, you may have just realized it's time to move on.

That's true for any leads company.  Just don't expect miracles with any lead. Get the training you need and what used to be a poor list, may begin to convert for you.

Today there are so many companies selling interviewed leads it makes me suspicious of what's going on.  The way I see it, there are only 3 possibilities when you have dozens and dozens of companies selling them now:

1. They are legit
2. They are legit but WAY over sold
3. They are not legit

My feeling is, about 5-10% are from the first category, about 30-35% are from the second category, and at least 50% are crappy, fake, or some how manipulated and non legit.

The way I see it, if you are going to get a genuine telephone interviewed lead, you better be prepared to pay some big bucks… at least $10 per lead.  I know Network Leads (which calls them Profiled Leads – probably more accurate), sells them for $15 per lead.  Furthermore, I learned last year that some Melaleuca reps are paying more than $100 per lead!! I spoke with one rep who had already gone through over 350 of these leads.

Most people don't think – and lead companies are counting on you not to think.  If you really stopped to think, no mass produciton line could ever produce a telephone interviewed lead that would cost $3.50.  They could outsource the interview room to India and they couldn't produce a $3.50 interviewed lead.

If a lead company tells you their "real time" interviewed leads are $3.50, there are ONLY two possibilities:

1. They are interviewd
2. They are selling them 20 times.

Stop funding the rip-off lead companies.  Get smart about your lead purchases. If you want interviews, expect to pay at least $10-$15.  If you can' t afford that, then use another type of lead until you can.

Now, I'm not saying all lead companies are rip-off companies, but do a Google Search and find the companies that are selling their interviewed leads for less than $10 per lead.  Those are the companies you need to put on your black list.

Let me qualify this.  I actually receive many more people reporting to me, but some of their comments are such a joke, they have no business buying leads to begin with.  For example, I got an email from a guy last week slandering a leads company.  He had bought email leads and was upset because they weren't quality phone leads.  Save your breath.

I'm talking about real network marketers buying real MLM leads to build their business.  I'm not talking about people buying 10 leads for a penny and expecting gold to come pouring forth.

So, to the topic at hand – LeadPower.com

Lead Power has been around a while, and the quality of their leads has fluctuated.  I had received about 4 or 5 emails over the first half of the year that they were "okay."  That was about it.  Nothing great, nothing bad.  Some good results, some zero results.

However, since the first of November, I have received over 20 emails about how horrible the quality of leads has been.  So called "interviewed" leads were a complete joke, way oversold, never verified, angry people (notice I didn't say prospects), and probably worse than the email leads the guy I just mentioned was calling. 

The funny thing was, it wasn't just a couple people.  4 0r 5 emails through the first 10 months this year.  20+ emails in the last month.  And, the people who are emailing me are a bit "passionate" about how upset they are with Lead Power.  These leads are "Putrid!!"  That is a direct quote from one of my readers.

So, buy with caution for now.  Things change.  Like I said, their lead quality has been inconsistent… it's just this has been much worse than normal.  Another thing to beware of.  Lead Power has a reseller program and they aren't afraid to use it.  They are reselling their leads to other lead companies to resell the same bad leads through other companies.

(**Disclaimer** – The quality of the leads is not reflected upon the employees of the company.  Do not call up LP and yell at their staff or whomever else.  It's a waste of your breath, and nothing short of unprofessional.  They are just workers, so treat them with decency and respect.)

I just got off the phone with Rich Niccolls, the owner of National-Leads.com.  They are beginning to move the content of their site over to their new design.  So, be ready for a new look, new navigation, and according to Rich, a simplification of the whole site structure.

I asked what that meant, and he basically said that he has been working on making it easier to navigate, find the leads that are right for you, and then purchasing your leads.  One of the issues in the past, according to Rich, has been that there were too many links to click and it could be somewhat confusing for a first-time visitor.

Anyway, I just wanted to pass that along.  Be looking for the new design coming soon.  Below is a sneak peek at what it's gonna look like.  The top will look slightly different from what Rich says, but you get a good idea.

Sean's Notes On This Article by Doug Firebaugh – While everyone is entitled to their opinion, I believe his list of 15 of the best lead companies is WAY off track.  If for no other reason, most of the companies on this list are actually leads coming from one company, Responsive Data.  RD has some good points and bad points.  They used to be a good company, but lately have been getting some very NEGATIVE feedback from distributors in Herbalife and other top MLM companies.

That is a sound of music to my ears. Why? I worked MLM Leads for nearly 8 years, and had great success with them. That is why that I have a pretty good understanding of what really makes a good MLM Lead, and what does not.

In the pursuit of finding these top 15 Network Marketing Lead companies, there were some requirements and considerations that went into the mix. An MLM lead is only part of the MLM Lead Success Formula. There were 5 things that we looked at when we were considering MLM Lead Companies.

What are they?

1) Quality of the MLM lead.

Quality of lead is everything. There are some great looking websites out there that look totally rocking, but we found that the quality of leads when we called them, were less than what you should expect in an MLM lead.

Beautiful site, great looking logo, lousy leads.

That is why we actually had people order leads, and we called them. We called more than one bunch of leads as well. This at least would give us a feeling of consistency or lack of it. The MLM Lead companies we chose were highly consistent in quality of lead, and people who truly were looking for a business. It took us 7 months to complete the research on MLM leads.

2) Training of working the MLM Leads.

Many of the beautiful sites offered no type of ongoing training, and that was something that really needs to be be a part of any good MLM leads programs. There were some that had online training, as well as cds and training series you could purchase. That was good, but the ongoing live training was the best idea, and we found many MLM leads Companies that did just that.

Training also includes scripts, handling objections, presentation, following up, closing, and other MLM leads topics. There are some HOT MLM leads sites out there that truly delivered on this quality of MLM leads training.

3) MLM Leads Support.

The support factor was key. Once the MLM leads were purchased, was there somehow support in case of need? Most had email support, some had live phone support, and some had live instant message support. There were sites that offered no support, and if you had a challenge with your MLM leads, then good luck.

The support should be somehow resolving issues that arise, including bad mlm leads, wrong numbers or emails, and general problems. The MLM Leads companies we found that were the best, had a support system. And some type of guarantee also should be part of the network marketing lead program.

4) Targeted MLM leads.

Many companies had different types of targeted mlm leads, including company specific, live tv leads, local leads, gender specific, product specific, area code specific, among others. Targeted mlm leads are the favorite of the Networkers I talked to, as it gives people a more focused lead, and a more targeted impact.

5) Pricing of the MLM leads.

This was a huge factor in determining many people's decision to buy. But to be blunt, you get what you pay for. There are many cheap network marketing home business lead companies with cheap leads, but here is a warning:

Be careful. You get what you pay for.

Ask if you can try maybe 15-20 leads to see if they are worth the money. Many companies give free network marketing leads away to try.

Understand that a great MLM lead may cost you several dollars, and rightfully so.

An MLM lead purchase is NOT a purchase, but an investment in your business. One good MLM lead can produce tens of thousands of dollars in volume and revenues. If you understand that, then the pricing should not be as important as the quality and training of the Network marketing lead company.

And of course, REPUTATION had a lot to do with the selection as well. Some companies that came across really well, when checked on, did not have a very good reputation for MLM Leads and service.

After strong consideration, the answer is mindset. It's actually having the right mindset but unless you are prepared mentally then you really will be pushing whatever uphill. Without the right success mindset you'll be a sitting target for those things which come along and throw you off course. And believe me, they will come along.

It's not really about listening constantly to positive mental attitude material. While this can help the key is developing a long term mindset and setting short term goals along the way. Without short term milestones that long term goal will remain just that.

It's all about reeling it in step-by-step. In internet network marketing a steely resolve is required and this can be achieved by getting your mind focused on what's important in building your business. One trick is to picture yourself in several years time facing your family and explaining to them that this is all you have to offer them.

Can you see how powerful something like this can be and it's a technique which has helped many high achievers in network marketing do that 5% extra to make sure they build long lasting wealth just to maintain the respect of those people closest to them.

Focus Is Key

So this brings me to my main point here. How and where you focus your marketing efforts in M-L-M will ultimately determine your overall results.

In other words, if your thinking is short term then your marketing will reflect that. You’ll be constantly battling to come up with winning strategies to keep your business afloat.

But if you have a long term mindset then again, your marketing will reflect that. You’ve got to really define in the beginning what it is you want from your business. That is, you should have your end clearly defined.

By knowing what your end goal is your marketing will also be targeted to long term success and won’t be of a short term fix nature. You want your marketing to be producing results 12-24 months from now, not in what I term the “bee effect” – once it’s lost it’s sting it dies.

So achieving home based business success starts with your mindset and if it's on other things, then save yourself the frustration and wait until it's focused on your business.

One of the big mistakes at home business owners such as network marketers make is driving their leads away after attracting them into their funnel. Sounds crazy doesn't it and it's called the desperate marketer syndrome.

People willing to do everything but give their prospect what they really want during the initial contact and that's what's in it for them and how do I get there. It's called giving value before asking for the sale and the truth is, if it's executed correctly then in many cases, the sales pitch won't even be required.

An home based business is hard enough to establish and grow without sabotaging it with desperate marketing tactics which leave a sour taste in the mouth of a prospect and you a lead lighter. So what is a desperate marketer and how do they behave. Does this sound familiar?

The Desperate Network Marketer

Here's an example of a desperate marketer. He gets a lead and is due to speak with them on the phone. Now this first step is going to tell a prospect a lot about the person they're thinking of joining in business. And this is where most network marketers fluff it. Many suddenly get gripped by the desperate marketer syndrome.

They get into a lather about "what if this person doesn't join my business" or "are they a potential Diamond Director and what if I lose them."

And the phone conversation will go something like this…"Hi Joan, my name's Ron and it's good to meet you." After the initial pleasantries the desperate marketer takes over. The conversation deterioates to something like this.

"I'm with company xyz and we are the best company in network marketing. Our products are life changing and will cure anything and boy, our compensation plan is the best. You'll make a fortune with company xyz and you can't fail because we do all the work for you. And if you don't join our company you'll be sorry because now is the time to get in blah, blah, blah…"

It happens every day and it's a little like whales beaching themselves for no apparent reason. We want to bring this up because it's something this author went through a few short years ago and when it was happening, I wasn't even aware of it.

Being on track as an entrepreneur means showing steely resolve and if you are in an inter-network marketing business then steely resolve is your best friend. You see, up until then, I’d tried and failed in several network marketing businesses, one I had established a $900 a week income before self-destructing.

What happened?

I got into uncharted territory that is, I was on track to financial freedom but the strange thing was I was afraid. People wanted more of my time and it made me nervous. I went back into my shell and started passing off stuff I should have been doing to my downline.

Eventually, my lack of effort started to resonate down the line and while I had some dedicated people, when I wasn’t being seen in putting in the effort then they saw this as the green light to do the same.

That $900 a week income soon fell to $800 then $700 then $600 until it almost disappeared. It hurt but still I didn’t do anything about it and was comfortable going back to a job where the income was guaranteed every week and people didn’t demand much of my time.

Can you see where I’m going with this?

The message here is that unless you feel uncomfortable in your network marketing business during the growing phase then you’re not on track. In other words, as an entrepreneur, the more on course you are then the more frightened you’ll feel.

The key point here is you need to really sell yourself to a prospect before you can expect them to show an interest in your MLM opportunity. While the opportunity may be the initial attrition the truth is, it's you they quickly turn their attention to and if you can deliver education and training in a manner which has them viewing you as someone they consider important in their future wealth building plans then there is little need for a sales pitch.

Working online has made it easier to build relationships with prospects. Sure, you'll probably never meet many of them face-to-face but through websites, blogs and web 2 prosperties, you can develop a relationship with anyone but more importantly, deliver the type of information which will be your trademark.

Selling Yourself To A Prospect

This is some of the best advice you'll ever receive about making it in your network marketing opportunity. Selling yourself to a prospect is the whole reason they contact you in the first place. If your message is all about how great your company is and the power of the products you're promoting then it's unlikely you'll get much response.
