ok, I just heard on News 9 that there are several funeral homes that are going to offer funerals free of charge so, the money on this fundraiser needs to be re-configured. Very generous of them but now I have to re-think!

As most everyone knows - Oklahoma was Hit HARD again with Deadly Tornadoes - A Lot of areas have been covered in Volunteering, donation, supplies, etc... within the Moore, Carney, & Shawnee areas. This question came to me - How can I help? What can I do that others have not thought of yet?

What can I offer in the midst of all the devastation and tragedies that happened over the past 2 days in Oklahoma? I have always believed that "every little bit helps" ... no matter how large or how small!

What has not been covered yet nor even been considered yet and will certainly become reality soon enough, is the burial of a child much too soon. Some have lost little ones and these little angels are now in God's Hands! Unfortunately, they will need to be laid to rest once all the dust settles. Unsure of the number count of how many children are not with us any more but the number keeps rising as the hours go by...Eventually, many will end up wondering how to cover this expense as I was faced myself with that question a few short years ago.

After losing a child myself, I know first hand the anxiety that arises the day before the funeral and no way to pay for it...it is certainly expensive to have to go through this especially, even more so when it is "unexpected" ... with that said, I am working on organizing a "Bake Sale Fundraiser" for all money raised to go to families who will have to lay there child to rest pre-maturely. I intend to contact Wal-Mart as well as Firelake Grocery in the morning to find out if I can host this fundraiser at one of their facilities, maybe even both locations for more coverage.

So, with that said... I am looking for volunteers to bake, help me work the fundraiser as well as possibly to donate a product to sell for the funds from the sale of that item to be thrown into the fundraising bucket. I would also possibly like to find a generous donation of a handmade quilt or some other big type item that maybe we can do a raffle on to increase what we can to help contribute too, for these families in there time of need... my goal is to raise as much as we can to help these families who have this unbearable task and ease somewhat of this financial burden! This money that will be collected will be given to these families and for them to use as they see fit, whether it helps with funeral expenses as originally is my intention, but having to miss work or making living arrangements, I feel it should be up to them on how they need the money spent - either way, this fundraiser is much needed for these families to help support them as they try and get through the immediate future - I am also attaching a papal button on the left side of my blog and post so if you would rather just donate and are not able to help or are out of state, your donation is much appreciated! Please provide your mailing address as well because I enjoy sending out "thank you" cards to show my appreciation in their honor!

I need to give an update on my disappearance for the past few months. I gave it my all right after Leah passed away and wanted to touch as many lives as possible that 1st year after her death. I enjoyed being able to provide what I could for as many families that I could. It really drained my checking account as well as my time, and energy. My disappearance was a good thing - I am now regrouping and trying to get my thoughts together on what to do next. First thing I need to do is replenish Leah's Hopes' checking account so I am planning doing an auction soon - please stay tuned for that and will look into some more fundraising ideas.

I wanted to let every one know that I am going to be taking a brief break - Our 2011 Christmas Project pretty much depleted our checking account for Leah's Hope - so I am in need of replenishing it. I am on the hunt for fundraisers to help assist in the funding for Leah's Hope.

I do have one in the works so I am going to try and focus on promoting that and marketing it in hopes it will help bring in some money in to help continue in helping families in the hospital!

This note touched my heart a great deal since I really never know how things are perceived when a parent or child receives something from Leah's Hope and this ministry. It just dawned on me why the Holiday Season is the most important and sentimental time for me and having the "want" to give back during the Christmas Season! Opening my heart a bit now - Thanksgiving and Christmas of 2009 was the one and only Holiday Season that my family and I got to spend with our little angel, Leah! You never know what tomorrow will bring - life is short - Embrace it!

Ahhhh ... It's Delivery Day - The Christmas Project filled with lots of goodies which include - a Christmas Ornament, Dr. Pepper, Word Puzzle, Almonds, Chocolate, Candy, Lotion, Lip Balm, Christmas Cakes & Wreaths, Russell Stover Chocolates, as well as an envelope filled with a Dinner Gift Certificate, Walmart Gift Card, McDonald's Gift Card, Free Sonic Drink, Free Kids Meals, Free Appetizers, etc.... I think I covered everything! I am so hoping all these parents can use all the goodies they are about to receive!

The kids are also getting an activity tote handmade filled with activity pads, crayons, bookmarks, coloring sheets, pens, pencils, etc - Really hope they like them!

WOW - I am speechless, not even sure how to share! I whole heartedly believe God plants people where He wants them and I am so hopeful He plants me where he needs me! I went to K-Mart today to pick up the Layaway I had for Ryder, my grandson - Just one item in layaway but had to pay it out - Paul, my husband, still has not gotten his first check yet from returning back to work after being laid off for months. I have been cleaning a few houses to help ends meet - all in all, trying to provide stockings for the hospital on pretty much "no budget" - I went to the back at K-Mart to pay and get out my layaway, there was a lady there asking me if she could pay for my layaway.

WOW - My nerves and thoughts were shattered! I am not usually on the receiving end and I give better than I receive - She touched my heart so so much - I was then able to complete the stockings for the hospital as I really wanted too! An Answered Prayer! Ryder, My Grandson gets his Gift from Santa!

I did not get her name and still feel a bit weird letting her do that but I would just like to say, if she somehow reads my blog - I want to give her a sincere Thank You! She was a Blessing to me an my family as well as many more families since I was able to provide more items for the hospital stockings!

Just wanted to give an update on how the stockings are coming along for my Christmas Project for the Parents who have a child in the hospital this Holiday Season. Having a child in the hospital during the Holidays is the last place a parent wants to be during Christmas - I am truly hoping to bring a little bit of kindness and thoughts there way!

I have been busy decorating and personalizing the stockings - Hoping they like 'em! I didn't want to just send a "plain" one stuffed! Donations of all sorts have been coming in from gift cards, gift certificates, monetary donations, and stocking stuffers - I am very anxious to start stuffing these socks and especially for delivery day when Christmas gets a little closer!

ADOPTED A CHRISTMAS ANGEL

This is a little off the track of my ministry but wanted to share what else I have been doing in coping with the loss of my daughter - I think of her every minute of every day and probably always will until I see her again one day!

I adopted a Christmas Angel this year - in memory of Leah! She is a 3 year old little girl who's mom is blind. I have just about put every thing together for "Skylar" - I have enjoyed putting everything together especially for her as I would have done for Leah if she was here - just hope she enjoys the items I selected as much as I enjoyed figuring out what to give her ----

I have also joined a gift exchange for a group of parents who have lost a child too early in life - the gift had to be handmade and in memory of their little angel. I just finished selecting the items for this little boy's memory. - I think this is a wonderful idea to help keep your child's memory you lost, alive - Hope she likes what I have came up with!
