You must know that golf is really a great game that you can enjoy with your friends during your leisure time. If you want to play this game you have to become a member of a golf course where it is played. Small holes are dug into the golf course and a player has to try a put the ball into them in order to win the game. Nine or eighteen holes can be found in a golf course.

In this article, my main focus would be to give you some great tips to improve your golf swing.

1. Your grip is very important
You must have a great grip in order to develop a good swing that can win you many games. In order to fully focus on your game your grip can really be helpful for you. Below mentioned are the three types of grips.

Overlapping grips is mainly preferred by most male golfers and for this the little finger of your right hand must sit on the index figure of your left hand.
If you really want to obtain a good grip on your club then you must use the interlocking grip as in it the index finger of your left hand is interlocked with the little finger of your right hand.
This grip is not used for improving your golf swing because it does not provide you the much needed grip for a great shot.

2. You must adopt the correct stance
A correct stance position should be adopted by you if you really want to improve your golf swing. You must always equally balance your weight so that there is no pressure on the ball. Your spine should be kept erect but you must bend your knees a little for a great swing.

3. Try to position your self correctly
You must try to position for yourself directly in the line of the golf hole. Imagine a straight line and try to position yourself accordingly.

4. Performing the backswing
When you are performing the backswing try to keep your left hand straight and go back as far as possible for you. A good tempo should be maintained for performing a backswing.

5. Performing the downswing
For performing a down swing you must always keep your head in the same position. You must not generate power with your right hand has this can spoil the effect of your swing.

In order to improve your golf swing it is highly significant for you to follow the suggestions that are mentioned above.

Many of the best golfers in the world are in Florida this week to take place in 2010 Transitions Championship odds. With the Masters just three weeks away, many are using this event as a tuneup. With the news that Tiger Woods will return for the Masters, players will want to get their game in top form to challenge the world’s #1 player. All of the previous winners of this event are in the golf betting field this week including defending champion Retief Goosen. He is not the favorite though. That honor at online sportsbooks goes to Steve Stricker who is 12-1 in Transitions Championship odds.

Goosen is actually the co-fifth choice in golf betting odds at sportsbooks. The co-second choices at 20-1 are Padraig Harrington and Vijay Singh. Ian Poulter is the fourth choice at 22-1 in golf betting odds. Singh has won this tournament in the past and he joins other former winners in the field. K.J. Choi has won this tournament twice while Sean O’Hair, Mark Calcavecchia, Carl Pettersson and John Huston were also victorious in this tournament. The Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Tampa has hosted this tournament every year since its inception in 2000. Bet Steve Stricker 12-1 as a golf betting favorite in 2010 Transitions Championship odds with a 10% bonus and 110% poker instant bonus.

The Copperhead Course was the ninth most difficult course on the PGA Tour last year. Goosen won this event last year and his winning score was just eight under par. The two players at the top of the golf betting odds board in 2010 Transitions Championship odds are deserving favorites. Stricker is playing as well as anyone and he was third in this tournament last year. Harrington played well last week at Doral as he finished tied for third. This is a very deep and talented field of golfers. There are a lot of players who could actually win this week. Big names like Jim Furyk, Sergio Garcia, Zach Johnson, Stewart Cink, Justin Rose and Geoff Ogilvy are just a few of the contenders. Bet Padraig Harrington 20-1 as a golf betting longshot in 2010 Transition Championship odds which can be seen on the Golf Channel and NBC.

There are even some youngsters like Ryo Ishikawa, Rickie Fowler and Michael Sim who could make a mark this week. If you are looking for attractive longshots in golf betting odds there are plenty of big names to choose from. Justin Leonard is 66-1, Adam Scott is 80-1 while Rory Sabbatini, David Duval and Boo Weekley are 100-1. The Golf Channel has the TV coverage on Thursday and Friday while NBC has the action this weekend. Bet 2010 Transitions Championship odds with a 10% deposit bonus and 110% poker bonus at Bodog sportsbook.

Golf clubs really benefits to golfers and persons who love golf. It not only provide a lot of products with good quality about golf but also offer latest news timely in order to make people know more about golf. Take the following news as an example.

The world’s first airline dedicated to golfers, takes off on April 4 from Prestwick Airport in Scotland offering fares to destinations including Lough Erne and Machrihanish Dunes from £79.

Golf Links Express, an offshoot of the award-winning Loch Lomond Seaplanes, will ferry up to nine golfers at a time and their clubs in amphibious Cessna 208 aircraft close to destinations which also include Kintyre, Loch Lomond and the Island of Islay.

“We’ve already had bookings from golfers from Ireland and as far a field as the US and Scandinavia, “says David West, founder of Golf Links Express. “Prestwick International already welcomes tens of thousands of golfers every year but many rarely venture further than Ayrshire because of the travel time by road. Now they can access some of the best links courses in the world within minutes.

“For example, we can carry golfers and their clubs from Prestwick to Islay in around 25 minutes, on to Machrihanish in 15 minutes then to Loch Lomond in another 25 minutes. That’s three fantastic locations across Scotland that would usually take a whole day’s travel to reach by car.”

It’s estimated that golf tourism is worth at least £300 million a year to the Scottish economy as golfers spend, on average, more than other tourists. For every £1 spent on a green fee a further £5 is spent elsewhere in the economy.

“This is a very exciting development connecting Irish and Scottish golf which will give players from around the world the chance to experience the best that both countries have to offer,” said Jim Treacy, owner of Lough Erne Golf Resort.

The Golf Links Express is the only air service dedicated primarily to golfers, although the flights will be open to anyone. According to Brian Keating, founder of Machrihanish Dunes and The
Ayrshire, currently being built on links land near Irvine Bay, the airline opens up tremendous possibilities for changing golf tourism in Scotland.

“Golf Links Express is just what Scotland needs. There are more than a quarter of a million golfers arriving in Ayrshire every year and this airline will enable them to experience more of what Scottish golf has to offer and spread the value of those visitors throughout the economy.

“Now golfers can play somewhere like Machrihanhish in the morning and be on the
first tee at Lough Erne in Ireland within 25 minutes.”

Putting to Perfection

Studies show that about 43% of all the golf shots you hit are putts. Of those, the vast majority are likely within 15 feet of the hole for the average golfer.

Obviously, you know how important putting is to your score or you would not be reading this e-book. There are many ways to improve your golf game, but only one way to improve your score. That is by making more putts.

I’m not going to take up much of your time today, but just by reading this book and following the advice you will improve your putting.

That’s because I will be telling you things to make putting easier rather than trying to improve your putting stroke. The search for the perfect stroke is far over rated.

If you use all of the advantages you have on the green, you will make more putts even with the stroke you have.

Many golfers are willing to spend many hours slamming drives down the practice range and feel they are ready to burn the course once they get their drives and long irons flying though the air.

What many golfers fail to realise is that the drive is just one shot. A putt missed from 6 inches is one more stroke on the scorecard with the same outcome as your 300 yard show drive. Putting is the closure to each and every hole and the more you can reduce the number of putts you take per round the quicker your overall scores and your handicap will come down.

So how do we take 6 shots off your round?

1/ Practice

I should have titled this section practice, practice and practice again. You need to spend many hours on the putting green honing your skill and as importantly building your confidence.

Golf is a game of confidence, how many times have you gone out in a competition or even just a bounce game, step onto the first green and three putt. How many times has this poor putting continued for the rest of the round?

There is no logical reason for this, once a putt is over it has no bearing on any other putts. However your poor putting on the first round is like a trigger for your brain.

How many times do you putt badly on the first hole and then your mind takes over. “Just not going to be my day for putting”,” I knew at the start my putting wasn’t strong enough” followed by the killers, “my putting can only get worse”, “I am not looking forward to this putt”.

Incredible that one or two bad putts sets the whole outcome of your round and all because of your self talk.

How do you get around this?

Practice Routine 1

That is where practice comes in. You need to find yourself a repeatable stroke that you can completely depend upon.

The hours you spend on practice green gives you the opportunity to hone your swing to one that you are completely comfortable with and that is repeatable without any thought on your part.

A good practice tip to build up your confidence in your swing is to head off to the practice green with a dozen balls.

Stand about one foot from the hole and then one by one putt the 12 balls into the hole. When you are consistently sinking each and every one from one foot, then move back to about three foot from the hole and repeat the process.

Again when you have putted them all into the hole then move back to about 6 feet from the hole. If you miss a putt from three feet then you should start again with the 12 balls until you putt them all into the hole.

Do the same from 6 feet then 12 feet and then out to 15 feet. This routine will keep you busy on the putting green for a long time, however you will be amazed and surprised as to how quickly your putting score will improve, at the same time you will be building your repeatable swing and your putting confidence.

Next time you are out on the course with a pressure putt take your mind back to the practice green where you putted these with ease. You will stand over the ball with more confidence and your number of putts will reduce round by round.

Practice Routine 2

Another good practice tip is to put two tees into the ground just slightly further apart than the width of a golf ball. From about 10 feet try and put a ball between the tees without hitting a tee.

This is great practice routine for when you have a breaking putt and you cannot aim directly at the hole. Find the point you need to aim for to let the ball break to the hole.

Imagine the two tees that you used on the practice green placed at the point you need to aim at to get the correct break. You should find that the time spent on the practice green with the two tees will enable you to pick and hit the exact spot that you need to get the correct break.

Buying Equipment

I am not a great advocate of spending a lot of money on clubs unless you are a seriously good low handicap golfer and you need the technology to make the difference to your handicap.

I do not believe the average golfer has to spend ridiculous amounts of money to get a set of clubs that will see him round the course.

The only time I will contradict myself is with the putter. Putting is so critical to your score that you need to find the putter that you are comfortable playing with and the one that when you stand over the ball with a difficult putt fills you full of confidence.

Go to your local Professional or to your local golf shop. Try various putters until you find one that you are comfortable with.

Do not impulse buy, most Golf Professionals will let you take a putter out to the practice green or even use the putter in a couple of bounce rounds to ensure that the putter is the correct one for you.

It is worth taking the time in selecting your putter, it will become your most critical club in your bag and one that will be the greatest help in reducing your handicap and making your round more pleasurable.

Practice your putting using the above techniques, work with your professional to get the putter that suits you and get out there and take those shots off your card.

You will be surprised how with application and practice your putter will become your friend and not as for most high handicap golfers their worst enemy.

While there are rumors about Tiger’s comeback. Now. I’d like to say it’s not far from Tiger’s comeback. A report claimed that Tiger has been talking with a former presidential advisor.

Contact between the world No.1 and Ari Fleisher, who since working for George W Bush has set up a sports communications firm, would presumably be to discuss an imminent return to golf.

The New York Post say they have been told by “two sources in the golf community” that Fleisher – brought in to try to repair the image of baseball star Mark McGwire as he admitted using performance-enhancing drugs – is now helping Woods.

One of the sources allegedly told the newspaper: “They were in his living room this week going over a strategy for how to handle Bay Hill in two weeks.”

The Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in Orlando is on March 25-28, but Woods may first play the unofficial Tavistock Cup on Monday and Tuesday that week.

That is a private annual match between members of Isleworth and Lake Nona clubs and Woods has played for the last four years.

It is less than three weeks since Woods, in his first public appearance since his sex scandal broke at the end of November, said he was not certain to return this year, let alone a month later. But we are all waiting for Tiger’s return. Please be patient!

For most of us a round of golf, whether socially or in a competition, is over when we hurl the clubs into the boot of the car and head for the bar. We might pick over the odd three-putt or topped tee shot but that’s it. It’s history.

Strangely every pro and certainly 90 per-cent of improving golfers don’t leave it there. They analyse their game, their strengths and weaknesses on the day and attempt to do something about it.

For the pro, that usually means getting their coach to help iron out any faults but for the rest self analysis has tended to be a shrug of the shoulders and an hour or two beating balls. Practice…often with no purpose.

However, a website has been launched to help those keen to get their handicap down by working on the areas of their game that need re-building as well as that which merely needs polish.

Dozens of Golfmagic visitors have taken advantage of a special offer to feed in their own personal game statistics into the ‘Stroke Average’ system providing an easily decipherable footprint of their own strengths and shortcomings, showing what to work on and what to adapt.

It has been a real eye-opener for many as well as a useful reference for top Ryder Cup players like Darren Clarke and some younger recent winners like Richard Finch, who claimed the New Zealand Open, and Ross Fisher.

“I’ve never really considered where my strengths and weaknesses are in my game,” said GM member David Hurst. “I’ve just assumed that I was an okay iron player and a reasonable putter. This package has helped show that this is not really the whole truth!

“The site is easy to navigate and has a good interface. It makes what can be a tedious chore of entering round-by-round details into a worthwhile exercise.”

Commented 12-handicapper Ben White: “The filters enable you to make comparisons on how your game is developing, or how you are affected by different conditions. It’s easy to use with excellent tutorials if required.”

Added Welshman Lindsay Griffiths:”From the stats I produced, I now know that my chipping needs lots of work!”

Chris Sells, who has worked previously as the Performance Analyst for the English Golf Union, helped set up the StrokeAverage site with business partner John Franks and admits there’s still work to do improving some of the weaker areas.

“We greatly appreciate the feedback Golfmagic members are giving us and working hard to improve the graphics as well as taking on board some great suggestions. It’s gratifying to know we’re building a relationship with lots of golfers and helping them to improve their game,” he says.

Last word goes to Ian Davidson: “As I was stalking my putts today I remembered from my stats that I always overborrow. It’s an excellent website that I recommed everyone looking to improve and a brilliant way to keep the interest up when you get home after a round.”

Justin Rose’s approach to golf is epitomised by his thoughts on ball position in his stance. It relies on simplicity.

“The higher you need to hit it, the further forward it needs to be in your stance – and that works from driver to wedge,” says Rose.

“Generally I don’t think amateurs have the ball for their long irons, forward enough in their stance,” he says.

“They have it towards the middle and then hit behind it or thin it. The ball should be two or three inches behind left heel. You need to imagine you are sweeping it so that at impact the full loft of the club is presented to the ball.”

“If the ball is too far back there’s not enough loft or you’ll try and help it up in the air,” Rose, already with a handful of European Tour titles to his name.

“Generally the same rule applies to the driver. You can’t get the ball far enough forward in your stance. Nobody is going to have it outside their left heel as it’s too uncomfortable. So get it as forward as you can by your left heel.”

Close up of Rose’s ball position – and his adidas Tour 360 shoes

“It’s amazing how much more time it feels like you get into the ball. Obviously it’s only a split second but it allows you to release the club head.”

Bunker shots should also be played with the ball in the same position Rose says. “I heard Tiger say his bunker play improved when he put the ball a little further forward. It gives you a bit more time and presents the full loft of the club to the ball.”

Rose added that it’s important to experiment with your stance and how open you can stand to the ball to vary the height you want the ball to travel.
