I am a member of etsy I created a shop recently. I will share with you how to promote your shop more effectively:

1. Sign up with twitter, follow people and some will follow you back. Afterward, post updates daily or every other day about your shop or about an item in your shop. Send your followers messages periodically about your shop-send them a link.

2. Place your link in search engines,google, in my humble opinion is the only one worth while, but you could also try yahoo and MSN.

3. Create a blog and display your links or widgets-promote your blog by listing in directories; share with your twitter followers or facebook friends.

4. Create flyers and business cards and place them where there is high traffic; like train stations, cafes, and university libraries.

5. Network with other artists and handmade sellers. You could do this on etsy's forums or contact sellers through facebook.

6. Write articles about Etsy. You can try places like ehow,associated content,and Squidoo.

7. Use adbrite to bring traffic to you store

8. Start a vlog on youtube and give tutorials on how to make the product that you sell.

9. Post on forums and put your esty link in your signatures.

You can receive 20% for every person that you refer and 10% for every person that said referral refers.
