One of the best managerial skills is problem solving and other one is decision making. A good manager has a special view to the problems in business. In fact a manager requires looking at a problem in different perspective and analyzing a problem with multiple environmental factors that cause some effects. This type of thinking to the problem is called system thinking or holistic approach.

What is holistic or system thinking?

System Thinking

In holistic or system thinking a problem (business, decision, etc.) will be analyzed as a set of factors or elements that are interrelated together and have effects. Business is not an island; we need different elements in business to survive. For example if you analyze your customer problem without any attention to your suppliers what will happen. In medium and large scale businesses it is more important to have holistic approach.

MBA is general program and the contents for MBA courses have been designed to improve managerial skills. MBA courses have multi-skills managerial contents to improve students’ knowledge in different fields and specializations. An easy survey in some business schools and colleges shows that MBA curriculum does not have sufficient contents for system thinking skills.

For example some Indian colleges have more concentration on Finance and HRM specialization .This is an old course design. Maybe Indian MBA students are more interested in these fields or careers and job opportunities are more in Finance and HRM.
In well known western business schools like Harvard Business School , Stanford Business School , they have more focuses on Leadership , Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management.All of these fields are related to the system approach .

We need system approach

For example, in recent years with growth in IT and other technologies we need technology management, system management or we need changes and design of new business models. Lack of system thinking in modern age will cause some problem.Technology management will be a big challenge for managers in future and managers should think about this problem more and more.It is more critical for underdevelopment countries .
A small business has dependencies to the technology as like large scale businesses .Each business model consists of some elements and they have some impacts on business , an entrepreneur or businessman needs to find relationship of these factors and manage them.

Today everything is a system and all organizations require managers with system thinking abilities to help them gain more competitive advantages.One of the best courses in MBA system or MBA IT is system analysis and design , it is helpful because provides some useful tools and approaches to analyze the business's requirements.It is helpful when it becomes an essential step for innovation in business.Lack of managerial skills in analysis wastes so many resources in organizations in procurement of new technologies like Information Systems .
Technology and more specific Information Technology should be adopted and managed in efficient way , but some organization are just users and some of them are just developers , who wants to utilize?

You may heard about MLM or Multi Level Marketing that is a marketing strategy in which the sales force are compensated not only for sales they generate, but also for the sales of other people down line of them that they recruit , as a hierarchy of multiple levels of compensation.
Sometimes , this model is called as direct selling and business plan is based on the hierarchical structure that seller provides for members in down levels .
Amway Corp is the famous company in US that started the business model and market strategy based on the MLM , but some criticisms were against this company . The main criticism are based on the productivity of this business model and pyramid schema in marketing .The evidences show that lower levels of the pyramid never earn more profit .
Main problems of such business plans are the products which they offer to the market , for example in some practices in other Asian countries Gold coins or other types of goods that don't have any real benefits for customers were selling . This is the problem that I call productivity in this term .

WHAT IS NMART ?
Nowadays in India people are talking about nmart business plan , they want to join and become a marketer but some others are against this business model. Opposition have the evidences that this is a pyramid model and the results are not good for economy .
Company profile shows that nmart has government proofs and certifications for business model . Company tells that it is a MLM business plan but it is not a pyramid . I do not want concentrate on the pyramid model.
I checked company 's website and products page to review and compare with other companies that I saw in past as like Q-ue-st .

Productivity :
The main differences in the business model is retailing with different useful products , in other hand nmart has different products and starts to open malls in India .It shows that they try to make service more tangible . More focuses are on the FMCG products and different brands have been selected .
Products are same as the other retailers products that are selling in market , but nmart uses the benefits of direct marketing to increase revenue behind the employment ideas .Of course other MLM marketers also said that they want to increase self-employment but the results are not same.

Profitability :
Second problem is the profitability of model for economy . Retailing is one of the largest industry in India and has more than 10 percent of GDP and 8 percent of employment in country . The trends show incremental rate of retailing in India . The main idea of founders may be based on these facts , but question is that the method of profit shares and distribution over the marketer . Each sales organization requires a good compensation strategy but I do not see a clear path . If it can increase the retailing industry and employment it can be new unique business model . In my opinion in contrast with other MLM models they should develop market place with variety of goods to become a profitable business model for Indian economy.

We can assume this is a new model of BPO in India but compensation and operation are different with BPO. Company provides a schema for compensation , but it is required more regulation .They want be a new Wal-Mart in India !.
I think it is required more clarity in nmart business plan to make it more tangible for people.

At first you should create a blog then with the option Setting > Publishing > Custom Domain

3.Content Management or any HTML codes in your website. If you select blogs you are free from technical knowledge , and you will start writing soon .

Also you can at first create your blog with the name that you select for your domain in Blogger  then with Blogger custom domain service you can buy your domain name in less than 5 minutes and , totally in 10 minute you can start your website , with out any technical requirements .
There are many benefits with Blogger service for persons like me that don't have time to design or don't want pay for tools like website builders or website templates .

Many companies hire promising interns after they graduate, which is always something to keep in mind when selecting an internship.

Know exactly what the company does and why you would fit in well there. As before I wrote about entrepreneurship and Corporate entrepreneurship   and Macroeconomics and Macroeconomics key indicators ,we know that each business requires a platform and economy in country is the basic platform for the growth in the business .
At first time we are talking about requirements of a business and factors to start a business. PEST factors are the basic assumptions of each business activity and more specifically for profitable businesses .
PEST factors :
They are Political , Economical , Social ,Technological factors and external factors for business. The importance of these factors is clear . Pest factors are the macroeconomics factors in other word and each country has situation in scale of national level or global level. When you want to start an business activity definitely you will check the condition , market and you will do a simple feasibility study stand on your own or may be take the advisement of other people or experts .

Secondly    , we know entrepreneur is a person who undertake the risk to start a new venture or make a new product , market , do innovative activity or creativity or any change and so on . An entrepreneur has an idea and conceptualize it and tries to make it productive or useful or profitable in case of helping to himself or society to improve . This productivity has a cycle and create business and we know today successful entrepreneur has some feasibility study .
There is a paradox , that we can see entrepreneurship helps the economy and society to grow and as a business it requires the Macroeconomics factors to support it.

If the economical or any other PEST factors are not good how it is possible to talk about the success or how an idea can survive a society ? For example Greece monetary and recession problem ?
You have good idea but you are not in heaven , the real world is complicated , we are not talking about the competitors or suppliers , we are talking about the Recession and Growth and Inflation in economy .
For example you are living in Iraq or Saudi Arabia , and you have a modern  idea and you know , if you create the product you have good market but P factor (political) factor is not ready. 1. Create a product with soul. Jobs proved that to create a product that customers would not just use, but love, you have to marry science with art.

2. Start small but think big. “I want to put a ding in the universe,” Jobs famously said.

3. Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t build the life that someone else wants you to- Jobs’s life is a lesson in making original decisions.

4. Stick to your guns. Interviewers often said that Jobs was a tough interview- he didn’t answer their questions, but rather always said exactly what he wanted to say.

5. Find real solutions to real problems. Jobs made the claim early on that 99-cent mp3s would save the music industry. Indeed- since April 2008, the Apple iTunes Store has been the number one music vendor in the U.S., and by October 4, 2011, the iTunes store sold its 16 billionth song.

6. Become a market leader. Own and control the technology that you create and use, to reduce the ability for others to successfully imitate to your standards.

7. Make a product that can sell itself. Apple’s advertisements were famous for simply showcasing their products. They didn’t work overtime to convince you- their elegant user interface did, all on its own, by being head and shoulders above the competition.

8. Don’t listen to your customers too much. Jobs was famous for his assertion that listening to customers too much is a waste of time. You have to think on their behalf but ignore their skepticism if you’re going to create something that no one has ever seen before.

9. Live every day as though you have nothing to lose. “Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose,” said Jobs. “There is no reason not to follow your heart.”

10. Look at the silver lining in failure. When Jobs was fired from Apple, he said, “I felt that I had let the previous generation of entrepreneurs down – that I had dropped the baton as it was being passed to me.” But, he realized, it was the best thing that ever happened to him, because it freed him to enter one of the most creative periods of his life, he said in his Stanford commencement speech.

11. If you love what you do, you will find a way. Jobs said that when he was fired from Apple, he thought about running away from the valley. But then he realized that he loved what he did, and the events at Apple couldn’t change that.

12. Have faith in your journey. Jobs described you can’t connect all of the dots when you look forward in time, but you can, in retrospect, see the way that pieces fall into place to bring you lessons.

13. Trust your inner voice. “Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice,” he said- following his inner voice allowed Jobs to both pivot into different projects and to innovate.

14. Be a perfectionist. We’ve all heard the stories of Jobs being an unapologetic taskmaster, to the point that he alienated some co-workers. And yet, his passion created products that speak for themselves.

15. Keep your eye on the endgame. “I don’t really care about being right, you know, I just care about success,” Jobs famously said, after he was fired by Apple. Borrow ideas if you have to, but focus on the implementation, and on improving rather than the politics of business.

16. Surround yourself with talent. Although Steve stands out as the leader who made Apple what it is today, it’s a myth that he alone is responsible for Apple’s success. A team of talented leaders- Phil Schiller, Jony Ive, Peter Oppenheimer, Tim Cook, and Ron Johnson- work overtime at Apple to build Apple.

17. Let simplicity reign. Jobs was famous for talking about the power of saying “no” when it came to adding bells and whistles to his products. It’s been said that choosing what not to do was more important to him than choosing what to do.

18. Create a unified team. Under Jobs, the executive team at Apple held weekly meetings to review every single product under development, and handed responsibility for all expenses to its Chief Financial Officer alone. Jobs thought that Sony, for example, had too many divisions to create a viable iPod, iPad or iPhone competitor. “It’s not synergy that makes [Apple] work,” he said, “it’s that we’re a unified team.”

19. Teach your company your vision. Apple hired an academic from Yale Management School to create an “Apple University” inside the company, so that his knowledge could be passed on and the structure and vision of Apple could be taught to future employees.

20. Create buzz. Apple creates a lot of hype by keeping its new products a secret until the very last minute. Although the policies of its tight ship are occasionally controversial, it seems to have incidents in which employees leave prototypes in bars fueling even more speculation on the web about the next iPhone.

21. Keep a Beginner’s Mind. “There’s a phrase in Buddhism, ‘Beginner’s mind.’ It’s wonderful to have a beginner’s mind,” Jobs once said. Keep a sense of exploration and wonder in the world.

22. Be a yardstick of quality. “Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected,” said Jobs.

23. Think differently. Although the Apple stores were considered a huge risk, Jobs pushed ahead with the idea, pointing out that “innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.” Apple now has over 357 stores worldwide, and in 2010 the stores earned over $3.2 billion, about 13% of total Apple sales.

24. Defy expectations- visually. At his 2008 Keynote speech, Jobs showed how the MacBook air fit into a standard office envelope, creating an image that no on could forget.

In MBA , you should know about business , business plan more and more , and I have done. My program was not an online MBA and it is a real university course in master degree in MBA .

The 12 P’s of Business/NPO Marketing Going Beyond the “4 P’s of Marketing” in a Service Business or Nonprofit There’s more to running and marketing a Business/NPO than what we learned from the “4 P’s”

Steven Paul "Steve" Jobs (February 24, 1955 – October 5, 2011) was an American inventor and entrepreneur. He was co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Apple Inc. Jobs also previously served as chief executive of Pixar Animation Studios; he became a member of the board of directors of the Walt Disney Company in 2006, following the acquisition of Pixar by Disney.

In the late 1970s, Jobs—along with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Mike Markkula and others—designed, developed, and marketed one of the first commercially successful lines of personal computers, the Apple II series. In the early 1980s, Jobs was among the first to see the commercial potential of Xerox PARC's mouse-driven graphical user interface, which led to the creation of the Macintosh. After losing a power struggle with the board of directors in 1985, Jobs left Apple and founded NeXT, a computer platform development company specializing in the higher-education and business markets.

In 1986, he acquired the computer graphics division of Lucasfilm Ltd, which was spun off as Pixar Animation Studios. He was credited in Toy Story (1995) as an executive producer. He remained CEO and majority shareholder at 50.1 percent until its acquisition by The Walt Disney Company in 2006, making Jobs Disney's largest individual shareholder at 7 percent and a member of Disney's Board of Directors. Apple's 1996 buyout of NeXT brought Jobs back to the company he co-founded, and he served as its interim CEO from 1997, then becoming permanent CEO from 2000 onwards .After resigning as CEO in August 2011, Jobs was elected chairman of Apple's board of directors and held that title until his death.

On October 5, 2011, Jobs died in California at age 56, seven years after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.On his death he was widely described as a visionary, pioneer and genius—perhaps one of the foremost—in the field of business, innovation, and product design, and a man who had profoundly changed the face of the modern world, revolutionized at least six different industries, and who was an "exemplar for all chief executives". His death was widely mourned and considered a loss to the world by commentators across the globe.

As I have written about macroeconomics for managers in economy and key indicators of macroeconomics    , there are important points related to the SWOT in business . Nowadays ,each business in modern aspect starts with strategic view to the marketing . This means that marketing gives a form to starting the business , and activities in business are based on the marketing .
The strategic view required the concentration on the four groups of factors. Internal factors : Strengths, Weaknesses.These factors are related to the objective of a business and potential for entrepreneurs to start a business and can contain factors : Capital , Skills , Staffs, Shared value , Style  ,...
External factors: Opportunities, and Threats .
These factors included the external environment of business like Competition , market opportunity , Strategy , Structure of economy  , System

We know they are 7 S , that can help business : Strategy , Structure , System , as Hardware and Skills, Staffs , Shared value and Style as Software for business.
A CEO or MBA manager required to know about external factors or macro factor for business .For example a manger is thinking about investment , when you should invest for new expansion ,and hoe effect the economic growth your business .
A macroeconomic swot analysis includes the analysis of country key indicators of economics like GDP , FOREX rate , Unemployment, Business cycle , Fiscal policy (Taxation) have big impact on business profitability .
The main part of these factors can be in group of Opportunities and Threats . Growth is an opportunities and when business cycle is in recession it is a threat for business .For example the inflation rate helps to invest on moderated condition and avoid to high investment , because the result of inflation is lower power in purchase and at first people avoid to purchase for unnecessary products means low demand .

Actually , managers are related to these impacts and they need to know how one indicator effected the economy or what is the result on the business . May be you ask , some parts of business are microeconomics, but I will say these factors have roots in macroeconomics .

Understanding the relation between micro and macro factors related to business is a powerful skill that some of managers have and some of them do not . In recent complicated condition of world economy and Globalization effect on the world and country level economy , there is an innovation of managers to directly use the macro factors .
