If you are interested to learn the violin, then you are doing yourself a favor. The violin is touted as one of the most beautiful musical instruments throughout history. In addition, the music that it creates is able to reach out to our hearts. So if learning violin is your current goal, then there is no reason for you to hold back.

However, learning to play the instrument is by no means an easy task. You can have the best violin to play with, but if you do not give some effort to hone your skills in playing it, then no good music that can touch people’s lives will be played. Therefore, a beginner should commit himself in learning the instrument and work hard to master it.

The first thing that should be learned in playing the violin is how to be comfortable with the instrument. Holding the violin in the correct manner is fundamental to playing good music with it. You should be able to maintain the proper posture so that playing the instrument will become much easier. If there are any problems concerning this, it should be corrected as early as possible.

In addition, the way you stand in front of people will be the first thing that can get other’s attention before you can even play. If people see that you are not comfortable with your instrument, chances are they will expect less from you despite your fingering skills. So while you are still on your beginner violin, practice presenting yourself in the best way possible.

Holding the violin is another thing that should be kept in mind in learning violin. One should have ample arm space to be able to move freely. See to it that the violin can rest comfortably under your left chin and over your left shoulder. If not, purchase a chin rest, which is one of the more essential violin accessories.

You should also consider purchasing a shoulder rest so that the violin can be fully supported. It is important that you gate a shoulder rest that is adjustable so that it can fit your shoulder perfectly. This way, you can focus more on fiddling and fingering without having to worry too much on carrying the violin.

If one is uncomfortable with the violin, the tendency is for him to slouch forward to keep a hold of the violin, thus affecting the way the violin is played. The sound of the musical instrument can also be affected. That is why it is important to feel comfortable with the violin. The way you hold it can really affect the music that you are playing.

As early as your student violin years, make sure that you keep in mind these pointers in learning violin. After all, it is your own personal instrument, so make yourself connect with it both physically and mentally and learn to play the best music with constant effort and practice.
