Social management tools are software programs designed to help people
operate multiple social media accounts from within a single, unified
view or application. Often these apps are called social media management
tools, or more simply social dashboards.

HootSuite and TweetDeck are the top two social management tools in
use these days, but plenty of alternatives exist. Newer apps are gaining
in popularity, too, such as the high-powered SocialBro.
HootSuite arguably is the single best, broadest social dashbaord
available today, especially since its chief rival TweetDeck has slipped
after being acquired by Twitter in 2011.

Why Use Social Management Tools?

Social media management software can help automate your use of social
media, which in turn will distribute your content more widely in the
long run and help you reach a broader audience. For that reason, social
dashboards are seen as helping with SMO, which means social media optimization.
Below is a look at eight of the best social management tools. All are
apps used widely today to monitor and post to multiple accounts on
multiple social networks.

Some of the tools are free, others cost money, and still others
offer a freemium blend that includes a free option with premium
upgrades. Regardless of which you choose, these tools can enhance your
social media management.

Top Social Dashboards

1. HootSuite

HootSuite
is a web-based dashboard for managing most leading social networks.
This one's great for a group of people jointly administering one or more
social media accounts. It's optimized for team management of social
networks. Integrated with Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+ Pages and
more. Offers free and premium versions. The free one lets you manage up
to 5 social profiles. A $10 a month premium account offers unlimited
profile management(as of July 2012.)
Publisher's Site

2. TweetDeck

TweetDeck
is focused mostly on management of the Twitter network and Facebook.
This powerful, free app historically also allowed management of
Facebook, MySpace and LinkedIn, but its 2011 acquisition by Twitter
raises questions about whether it will be developed with a closer
Twitter focus in the future. Support for some social networks such as
LinkedIn was dropped in recent makeovers of the Web-based version.

Publisher's Site

SMO is an acronym for "social media optimization," which basically is
a business buzzword that refers to ways of optimizing online content
for social media distribution.

SMO also is used as shorthand for how widely content is shared
online, or the sheer variety and number of social media channels though
which it is distributed. Sometimes it's referred to as social media
SEO.

What is the Goal of SMO?

Since SMO has become a popular marketing buzzword, people use it to
mean all kinds of things associated with the marketing of websites,
services and products, but typically, the goal of SMO is to boost
traffic and exposure through the use of social media. Perhaps the
simplest way to describe SMO is to say that it refers to almost anything
involving the smart use of social media.

There are many things people can do to websites and mobile content to
make that them more likely to be shared through social media, of
course, such as adding a Facebook Like button or an "email this" button
to a web page. Those actions are example of SMO, as is anything that
makes it easier for people to share content. These actions are
considered SMO because they optimize content for social sharing.

How is SMO different from SEO?

SMO is related to SEO, an acronym meaning "search engine
optimization" which in turn means optimizing online content to perform
better in search results.

The two concepts (SMO and SEO) are similar because both involve
optimizing online content so it's more likely to be seen by a larger
number of people.

Website owners wanting search engines to find and index their sites
more prominently have long referred to the practice of organizing and
tweaking their sites to look better to search engines as SEO.
So not surprisingly, when social media became the rage in marketing,
the phrase SMO arose to describe a similar concept for social media --
tweaking online content or a website to facilitate distribution with
social media tools and services.

Today SMO and SEO are highly interrelated because search engines take
into account how well any content performs in social media -- or how
widely it is being shared -- as one of the many factors in the formulas
determining placement in search results.

SMO Key Ingredients

Good Content - As with SEO, high
quality, good content is perhaps the most important factor in social
media optimization. It's real simple--the better the content, the more
likely it is to be shared.

Sharing Buttons - Social sharing buttons are particularly
important tools for SMO, too. Placing buttons in spots where people are
likely to click and share can sharply boost distribution of that
content. And in the long run, the extra sharing can lead to better
search engine rankings.

Engagement - Sparking conversation, dialogue, or any kind of
engagement with your content is another excellent strategy for SMO. It
could be as simple as inviting comment or presenting a poll. Whatever
the method, getting people to respond to your comment has a viral
effect.

Share Your Stuff - Sharing your own content widely in social
media channels also is a key plank in any SMO strategy. The more
channels you send your content to, the more likely it will be seen and
shared by people who don't visit your website to see it there.

SMO Tools: Automate your Social Media Management

A ton of social media management tools exist to help people and
companies optimize their content for social media, so these tools can be
considered SMO tools.

Our guide to the top social dashboards lists eight of the best social management tools. Each can be helpful with SMO by widening your content distribution.

The eight tools include a vareity of dashboard programs that let
people manage multiple social media accounts from one place, like
Hootsuite, SocialFlow and various Twitter clients.

How to Change the Router SSID

Now Elpebepe Blog will post How to Change the Router SSID. Improve home Network security, Wi-Fi access points and routers establish a wireless network using a name called an SSID. Routers are configured with a default SSID pre-defined and set by the manufacturer at the factory.
Typical default SSIDs are simple names like

"wireless"

"netgear"

"linksys"

"default"

The SSID can be accessed from within the router's Web-based or
Windows-based configuration utilities. It can be changed at any time,
but wireless clients must then recognize the new SSID in order to
reconnect to that router and wireless network.

To improve the security of your home wireless network, consider
changing the router's SSID to a different name than the default. Here
are some recommended do's and dont's, based on recommended network
security practices:

Don't embed your name, address, birth date, or other personal information as part of the SSID

Likewise, don't use any of your Windows or Internet Web site passwords

Don't tempt would-be intruders by using tantalizing network names like "SEXY-BOX" or "TOP-SECRET"

Do pick an SSID that contains both letters and numbers

Do choose a name as long or nearly as long as the maximum length allowed

Do consider changing your SSID periodically (at least once every few months)

Home Wi-Fi wireless routers use a name called the SSID
to identify themselves on the local network. Manufacturers set a
default SSID for their routers at the factory, generally using the same
name for each. Linksys routers, for example, all typically start with an
SSID of "linksys."

To improve the security of your network, you should consider changing
its SSID. These pages walk through the steps to change the SSID on a
common Linksys network router. The exact steps will vary depending on
the specific model of router in use, but the process is similar in any
case.

Log in to the router's administrative console through a Web browser
using the default password and username. Linksys routers typically have
the Web address http://192.168.1.1/, the "admin" username and no (blank)
password. When successfully logged in, you should see a screen like the
below.

In the router's administrative console, navigate to the appropriate
wireless settings section where the SSID can be changed. In this
example, the Basic Wireless Settings section of the Wireless tab at the
top of the screen contains the Linksys router's SSID as shown below.

Choose a suitable network name and enter it as in the example shown
below. An SSID is case sensitive and has a maximum length of 32
alphanumeric characters.

The new SSID is not activated on the router until you save or confirm
the change. In this example, click the Save Settings button at the
bottom of the page (as shown below) to have the new setting take effect.
You will see a confirmation window appear briefly to confirm the change
was made successfully. The new SSID takes effect immediately; rebooting
the router is not required.

Wifi Home Network Security Tips

Now Elpebepe will share Wifi Home Network Security Tips, Many folks setting up wireless home networks rush
through the job to get their Internet connectivity working as quickly as
possible. That's totally understandable. It's also quite risky as
numerous security problems can result. Today's Wi-Fi
networking products don't always help the situation as configuring
their security features can be time-consuming and non-intuitive. The
recommendations below summarize the steps you should take to improve the
security of your home wireless network.

1. Change Default Administrator Passwords (and Usernames)

At
the core of most Wi-Fi home networks is an access point or router. To
set up these pieces of equipment, manufacturers provide Web pages that
allow owners to enter their network address and account information.
These Web tools are protected with a login screen (username and
password) so that only the rightful owner can do this. However, for any
given piece of equipment, the logins provided are simple and very
well-known to hackers on the Internet. Change these settings
immediately.

2. Turn on (Compatible) WPA / WEP Encryption

All Wi-Fi equipment supports some form of encryption.
Encryption technology scrambles messages sent over wireless networks so
that they cannot be easily read by humans. Several encryption
technologies exist for Wi-Fi today. Naturally you will want to pick the
strongest form of encryption that works with your wireless network.
However, the way these technologies work, all Wi-Fi devices on your
network must share the identical encryption settings. Therefore you may
need to find a "lowest common demoninator" setting.

3. Change the Default SSID

Access points and routers all use a network name called the SSID.
Manufacturers normally ship their products with the same SSID set. For
example, the SSID for Linksys devices is normally "linksys." True,
knowing the SSID does not by itself allow your neighbors to break into
your network, but it is a start. More importantly, when someone finds a
default SSID, they see it is a poorly configured network and are much
more likely to attack it. Change the default SSID immediately when
configuring wireless security on your network.

4. Enable MAC Address Filtering

Each piece of Wi-Fi gear possesses a unique identifier called the physical address or MAC address.
Access points and routers keep track of the MAC addresses of all
devices that connect to them. Many such products offer the owner an
option to key in the MAC addresses of their home equipment, that
restricts the network to only allow connections from those devices. Do
this, but also know that the feature is not so powerful as it may seem.
Hackers and their software programs can fake MAC addresses easily.

5. Disable SSID Broadcast

In
Wi-Fi networking, the wireless access point or router typically
broadcasts the network name (SSID) over the air at regular intervals.
This feature was designed for businesses and mobile hotspots where Wi-Fi
clients may roam in and out of range. In the home, this roaming feature
is unnecessary, and it increases the likelihood someone will try to log
in to your home network. Fortunately, most Wi-Fi access points allow
the SSID broadcast feature to be disabled by the network administrator.

6. Do Not Auto-Connect to Open Wi-Fi Networks

Connecting
to an open Wi-Fi network such as a free wireless hotspot or your
neighbor's router exposes your computer to security risks. Although not
normally enabled, most computers have a setting available allowing these
connections to happen automatically without notifying you (the user).
This setting should not be enabled except in temporary situations.

7. Assign Static IP Addresses to Devices

Most home networkers gravitate toward using dynamic IP addresses. DHCP
technology is indeed easy to set up. Unfortunately, this convenience
also works to the advantage of network attackers, who can easily obtain
valid IP addresses from your network's DHCP pool. Turn off DHCP on the
router or access point, set a fixed IP address range instead, then
configure each connected device to match. Use a private IP address range (like 10.0.0.x) to prevent computers from being directly reached from the Internet.

8. Enable Firewalls On Each Computer and the Router

Modern
network routers contain built-in firewall capability, but the option
also exists to disable them. Ensure that your router's firewall is
turned on. For extra protection, consider installing and running personal firewall software on each computer connected to the router.

9. Position the Router or Access Point Safely

Wi-Fi
signals normally reach to the exterior of a home. A small amount of
signal leakage outdoors is not a problem, but the further this signal
reaches, the easier it is for others to detect and exploit. Wi-Fi
signals often reach through neighboring homes and into streets, for
example. When installing a wireless home network, the position of the
access point or router determines its reach. Try to position these
devices near the center of the home rather than near windows to minimize
leakage.

10. Turn Off the Network During Extended Periods of Non-Use

The
ultimate in wireless security measures, shutting down your network will
most certainly prevent outside hackers from breaking in! While
impractical to turn off and on the devices frequently, at least consider
doing so during travel or extended periods offline. Computer disk
drives have been known to suffer from power cycle wear-and-tear, but
this is a secondary concern for broadband modems and routers.

If you own a wireless router but are only using it wired (Ethernet) connections, you can also sometimes turn off Wi-Fi on a broadband router without powering down the entire network.
5 Blog Post Idea Generators

Now I will share 5 Blog Post Idea Generators. 5 Cures for Blogger's Block. The longer you blog, the greater the likelihood that
you'll sit down at your computer one day with no idea what to write
about. Bloggers call that phenomenon Blogger's Block. Don't just sit
there and stare at your computer screen. Take a look at the suggestions
below to find blog post ideas and start writing!

Check Your Blog Feeds and Favorite Blogs

Find out what your favorite bloggers are talking about by reading through your daily blog subscription feeds
or visiting blogs of interest. You just might find someone talking
about a topic that sparks an idea for you to write about on your own
blog. Remember to follow the rules of blogging etiquette and give a hat
tip to the source via a link back to the original blogger's post.

Check Digg, StumbleUpon or Other Social Bookmarking Sites

Social bookmarking sites like Digg, StumbleUpon and Del.icio.us are always great places to find buzzworthy news to write about on your own blog.

Check News Sites

Current events make great blog post topics. Check news sites for information on breaking stories that apply to your blog topic.

Check Yahoo! Buzz or Google Trends

Both Yahoo! and Google provide lists of the most popular search terms at any given point in time. Visit Yahoo! Buzz or Google Trends to learn what people are looking for. You just might get an idea for a blog post that could drive some search traffic your way!

1. Lists

People
love lists, and just about any kind of list is bound to attract
traffic. Top 10 lists, 5 things not to do, 3 reasons I love something,
etc. Start with a number then take it from there.

your readers how to throw the perfect curve ball or how to avoid getting
bitten by a mosquito, the choice is yours.

3. Reviews

You can write a review of just about anything on your blog. Take a look at the following suggestions:

Products

Websites

Books

Movies

Music

Restaurants

Hotels

4. Photos

Post a photo (or photos) related to your blog topic.

5. Link Roundup

Write a post that includes a list of links to other blog posts that published great posts or to websites you like.

6. Current Events

What's going on in the world? Write a post about an interesting bit of news.

7. Tips

Write a post to share tips to help your readers accomplish something in an easier, faster or cheaper way.

8. Recommendations

Share recommendations for your favorite books, websites, movies or other "favorites" related to your blog topic.

9. Interviews

Interview a prominent figure or expert in your blog topic then publish a blog post about it.

10. Polls

Register for an account with a site like PollDaddy.com then publish a poll related to your blog topic in one of your blog posts.

11. Contests

People love to win prizes, and blog contests
are a great way to drive traffic to your blog as well as encourage
visitors to leave comments. Blog contests can be used to write several
posts such as an announcement post, a reminder post and a winner post.

12. Blog Carnivals

Join a blog carnival (or host one yourself) then write a post about the carnival topic.

13. Podcasts

Sometimes
it's easier to talk about something than it is to write about it. If
that's the case, try audio blogging and post a podcast.

14. Videos

Share a video from YouTube or one of your own, or host a video blog.

15. Quotes

Share a quote from a celebrity or prominent person in a field related to your blog topic. Be sure to cite your source!

16. Links to Interesting Content from Digg or StumbleUpon

Sometimes you can find some really interesting submissions on Digg, StumbleUpon and other social bookmarking sites.
It's fun to share links to some of the best submissions related to your
blog topic or of interest to your readers in one of your own blog
posts.

17. Your Turn

Turn the tables and
post a question or comment then ask your readers what they think about
that question or comment. Your turn posts are a great way to spark a
conversation.

18. Guest Posts

Ask other bloggers or experts in a field related to your blog topic to write a guest post for your blog.

19. Point/Counterpoint

A point/counterpoint
post is where you present two opposing sides to an argument or issue.
This type of post can even be separated into two different posts where
the first presents one side of the argument and the second presents the
other side.

20. Answer Reader Questions or Comments

Look back through the comments left by your readers and find any questions or statements that can be used to spark a new post.

One of the realities of writing content for the web is
that people don't stay on any page for very long. Typically, web
surfers scan a page and determine within a few seconds if it's worth
staying on that page and reading further or if they should click away
and try the next page they can find. With that in mind, your blog posts
should be written and formatted in a way that makes them not only
visually appealing but also scannable. Make sure your visitors know
what you're writing about within a couple of seconds by following the
tips below for creating scannable blog posts:

1. Pay Attention to Titles

The
first thing your visitors will notice are your blog post titles. While
it's great to use clever titles sometimes, make sure you have enough
clear and concise titles, so visitors don't have to search very far to
know what your blog posts are about. Also, remember that search engines
weigh your blog post titles heavier than the content of each post, so
take some time to consider search engine optimization when you name your blog posts.

2. Use Headings

Using the "heading"
formatting options in your blog post editor not only makes your content
scannable because it breaks it into smaller pieces with clear headlines
for each section, but search engines also weigh text published using a
"heading" format heavier than non-formatted text. Make your headings
relevant, clear and search engine friendly.

3. Make Lists

Bulleted
and numbered lists work equally well in turning text that could be
published as long paragraphs into easily scannable content. Use lists
whenever you can to break up long blocks of text.

4. Use Bold and Italicize - But Not Too Much

Bold
and italics work very well to draw attention to specific text within
your blog posts, but when they're overused, they become useless. Instead
of drawing attention to the most important parts of your post, they
make your post cluttered and more difficult to read.

5. Go Easy on the Links

Links
can be very helpful in directing your readers to more information.
They're also helpful in search engine optimization because search
engines weigh linked text higher than non-linked text. However, too many
links can have a negative effect on the readability of your blog just
as too much bold or italics can. Use links but don't overuse them.

6. Use Images

Images
are a great way to break up a text heavy blog post. They can help to
draw attention to a specific post, add color to your blog, and help with
search engine optimization. Don't use too many images though, or your
posts get cluttered and your text gets harder to read rather than
easier. Also, make sure you only use images that you have permission to publish on your blog. There are many websites that offer free photos to use on your blog. Take some time to learn about copyright and fair use laws before you publish images in your blog posts.

7. Write Short Paragraphs

Blog
posts are easiest to scan and read when paragraphs are short. In fact,
one or two sentence paragraphs are perfectly acceptable and usually
welcomed by blog visitors. Short paragraphs add white space and visual
relief to text-heavy blog posts. Remember to keep your paragraphs short.

How to Write Posts that Get Noticed and Keep Readers Interests. One of the most important keys to blogging success is
providing exceptional content. Follow these five tips to make sure your
blog posts not only get read but make people want to come back for
more.

1. Choose the Appropriate Tone for Your Blog

Every
blog has a target audience it's written for. Before you start writing
blog posts, determine who your primary and secondary audiences will be.
Who will want to read your blog and why? Are they seeking professional
information and discussions or fun and laughter? Identify not only your
goals for your blog but also your audience's expectations for it. Then
decide what tone would be most appropriate for your blog, and write in
that tone and style consistently.

2. Be Honest

Blogs that are written in an
honest voice and truly show who the writer is are often the most
popular. Remember, a critical component to a blog's success is the
community that develops around it. Represent yourself and your content
honestly and openly and reader loyalty will undoubtedly grow.

3. Don't Just List Links

Blogging
is time-consuming, and sometimes it can be very tempting to just list
links to other online content for your readers to follow. Don't fall
into that trap. Readers don't want to have to follow a breadcrumb trail
to find something interesting to read. In fact, they might find they
like where you lead them more than they like your blog. Instead, give
readers a reason to stay on your blog by providing links with your own
synopsis and point of view about the content of those links. Remember, a
link without context is a simple way to lose readers rather than retain
them.

4. Provide Attribution

Don't risk being accused of violating copyrights,
plagiarism or stealing content from another blog or website. If you
found information on another blog or website that you want to discuss on
your blog make sure you provide a link back to the original source.

5. Write in Short Paragraphs

The
visual appeal of your blog's content can be just as important as the
content itself. Write your blog posts in short paragraphs (no more than
2-3 sentences is a safe rule) to provide visual relief from a text heavy
web page. Most readers will skim a blog post or web page before
committing to read it in its entirety. Text heavy web pages and blog
posts can be overwhelming to readers while pages with a lot of white
space are easier to skim and more likely to keep readers on the page (or
to encourage them to link deeper into the site).

Writing Blog Post Titles that Get Noticed and Drive Traffic.Writing blog post
titles that get attention and traffic is a unique form of writing,
because you write blog post titles for multiple reasons. First, you
want people to be intrigued enough to feel compelled to read the actual
blog post.

Second, you don't want to trick anyone by writing a title
that is irrelevant to your blog post content. Third, you want your blog
post to help drive search engine traffic, so you need to focus on keywords
when you come up with your blog post titles. That's a hefty list, but
you can meet all three goals when you write blog post titles following
the steps below :

1. Pique Curiousity and Get Attention

Your
blog post titles should be interesting. They should intrigue readers
enough to make them want to click on the link to your post and keep
reading it. That's not to say that straightforward titles aren't
effective. They are! However, you need to have a mix of creative and
intuitive post titles to get the best of both worlds.

2. Avoid Bait and Switch

You don't want to be
accused of tricking people into reading your blog post based on the
title and then have them be disappointed in the actual content they find
within the post. That can do more harm to your blog than good. If you
bait them in your blog post title, you need to be sure that you deliver
the content they're looking for within your post content.

3. Consider Search Engine Optimization

Writing blog post titles to maximize keywords and search engine optimization
(SEO) is a great way to boost your blog's incoming traffic from Google
and other search engines. If you can marry a creative headline with a
search engine optimized headline, then you've hit the jackpot! Just
remember not to stuff irrelevant keywords into your blog post titles!

If You do Nothing Else to Increase Search Traffic to Your Blog Post-Do This. There are so many search engine optimization techniques, and they're often changing. What should you do to try to optimize your blog posts for search engines in order to get more search traffic?

Search engine optimization also takes time. How can you find time to
optimize each of your blog posts to maximize search traffic to them?

Hiring a search engine optimization expert to help you optimize your
blog posts for search can be expensive. How can you optimize your blog
posts to increase search traffic without paying a lot of money?

Fortunately, there are some tricks you can apply to every one of your
blog posts, and it will take you less than 60-seconds on average to do
it. Also, it won't cost you a penny!

Apply the following techniques to every blog post you write, and
you'll start to see more search traffic to your blog overall. It's worth
the extra minute per post in terms of the long-term traffic that can
come from these simple steps.

1. Use Keywords in Your Blog Post Titles

Your blog post titles should always sound natural, but whenever you can, you should include your target keyword
or keyword phrase in your blog post title. Try to front-load your
keyword if it sounds natural to do so. However, you should avoid
duplicating your keyword in your blog post title.
Optimizing your
blog post title for search engines is important to boost search traffic
to your blog, but it can also negatively affect the traffic that comes
to your blog from other sources. For example, people are more likely to
click on a link to your blog post via Twitter, Facebook, or another
social sharing tool if the blog post title is interesting and intriguing
than if it's filled with keywords.

2. Write a Good Meta Description with Keywords

Many blogging applications make it easy for a blogger to write a specific meta description (found in the source code
of each web page) for individual blog posts. If you have that ability,
take the time to write an interesting meta description and include your
keywords in it. Again, the earlier you can use your keywords and still
have your meta description sound natural, the better.

When your
blog post is provided in search engine results, the meta description is
visible as the blurb describing the content on the page the link takes
people to. You want to make sure this excerpt is compelling enough to
convince people to click the link to your post and visit your blog.

3. Use Keywords in Your Blog Post Body - But Don't Repeat Keywords Too Frequently

Try
to use your keywords in your blog post as early as possible,
particularly in the first paragraph. If it seems natural to hyperlink
the first use of your keyword to another one of your relevant blog posts
or pages, do so. Just make sure you're not stuffing your post with your
keywords or your post could be flagged by Google and other search
engines as spam. Always make sure your keywords sound natural within
your post.

4. Link Internally and Externally

You
should try to link keyword phrases to your other relevant blog posts
and pages whenever you can. Again, the earlier you can do this within
your blog post, the better. Make sure you don't add too many links in your blog post,
or your post could be flagged as spam. It's also a good idea to link to
external blogs and websites later in your blog post to show that your
blog is connected with high quality websites. Save the premium keyword
anchor text for your internal links though.

5. Write Blog Posts That Are Long Enough to Rank in Keyword Searches

While it's true that the best blog posts are usually shorter in length (so they're easy to consume) don't write posts that are too short
to be ranked in search results at all. A good rule of thumb is to
always write posts that are at least 300 words. This length also gives
you the opportunity to use your primary keyword twice without seeming
like you're keyword stuffing.

How to drive traffic to Your blog From Search Engine.Getting a high rank on search engines through user
keyword searches can be difficult, but with proper focus on writing your
blog posts for search engine optimization (SEO), you can boost your
rank for specific keyword searches and your blog's traffic. Follow
these tips to get the biggest results.

1. Check the Popularity of Keywords

In
order to obtain traffic from keyword searches on the major search
engines like Google and Yahoo!, you need to be writing about a topic
that people want to read about and are actively looking for information
about. One of the easiest ways to get a basic idea of what people are
looking for online is to check the popularity of keyword searches on
websites like Wordtracker, Google AdWords, Google Trends or the Yahoo! Buzz Index. Each of these sites provides a snapshot of keyword popularity at any given time.

2. Select Specific and Relevant Keywords

A
good rule to go by is to select one keyword phrase per page then
optimize that page to that keyword phrase. Keywords should be relevant
to the overall content of your page. Furthermore, choose specific
keywords that are more likely to give you a better search results
ranking than a broad term would. For example, consider how many sites
use the keyword phrase of "punk music." The competition for ranking
using that keyword is likely to be tough. If you choose a more specific
keyword like "Green Day concert," the competition is a lot easier.

3. Select a Keyword Phrase of 2 or 3 Words

Statistics
show that nearly 60% of keyword searches include 2 or 3 keywords. With
that in mind, try to optimize your pages for searches on keyword phrases
of 2 or 3 words to drive the biggest results.

4. Use Your Keyword Phrase in Your Title

Once
you select the keyword phrase you plan to optimize your page for, make
sure you use that phrase in the title of your blog post (or page).

5. Use Your Keyword Phrase in Your Subtitle and Headlines

Breaking
blog posts up using subtitles and section headlines not only makes them
more visually appealing on a text heavy computer screen, but it also
gives you additional opportunities to use your keyword phrase.

6. Use Your Keyword Phrase in the Body of Your Content

It's
important that you use your keyword phrase in the body of your blog
post. A good goal to try to achieve is to use your keyword phrase at
least twice in the first paragraph of your post and as many times as you
can (without keyword stuffing - see #10 below) within the first 200
(alternatively, the first 1,000) words of your post.

7. Use Your Keyword Phrase in and Around Your Links

Search
engines count links higher than plain text in their search algorithms,
so try to create links that use your keyword phrase. Avoid using links
that simply say, "click here" or "more information" as these links will
do nothing to help you with your search engine optimization. Leverage
the power of links in SEO by including your keyword phrase in them
whenever possible. The text surrounding links is typically weighted more
heavily by search engines than other text on your page as well. If you
can't include your keyword phrase in your link text, try to include it
around your link text.

8. Use Your Keyword Phrase in Images

Many
bloggers see a large amount of traffic sent to their blogs from image
searches on search engines. Make the images you use in your blog work
for you in terms of SEO. Make sure your image filenames and captions
include your keyword phrase.

9. Avoid Block Quotes

There are differing
opinions on this issue with one group of people saying that Google and
other search engines ignore the text included in the HTML
block quote tag when crawling a web page. Therefore, the text within
the block quote tag won't be included in terms of SEO. Until a more
definitive answer can be determined to this issue, it's a good idea to
keep it in mind and use the block quote tag cautiously.

10. Don't Keyword Stuff

Search
engines penalize sites that stuff pages full of keywords simply to
increase their rankings through keyword searches. Some sites are even
banned from inclusion in search engine results because of keyword
stuffing. Keyword stuffing is considered a form of spamming, and search
engines have zero tolerance for it. Keep this in mind as you optimize
your blog posts for search engines using your specific keyword phrase.

ads on your blog, there is certainly potential to make money, but how?
Many beginner bloggers have Google AdSense ads running, but the
earnings aren't coming. Follow the steps below to give your blog's
Google AdSense program the greatest chance for success and start making
money now.

Here How :

Determine your blog's primary focus.
Google AdSense ads are most effective when they are served to people
who are interested in the products and services those ads offer. With
that in mind, Google AdSense tends to work best on blogs that are about
niche topics such as a specific product or hobby. Consider how you can
make your blog's topic more focused to better attract specific types of
readers and specific types of ads.

Write consistent and focused content.
Google serves ads based on the content on each of your pages. The
more focused your content is on each page, the better Google can
determine which ads are the most relevant to your readers. Write
consistently and stay focused on a specific topic to increase the
likelihood that Google will display ads on your blog that your readers
are apt to click on.

Work to increase your blog's traffic.
The more visitors to your blog, the more potential for clicks on your
Google AdSense ads. Work to increase your blog's traffic to boost your
chances for ad click-throughs. However, keep in mind that if you write
focused content, the ads on your blog will be relevant to that content.
The traffic that comes to your blog needs to be interested in your
blog's topic and your content, or they are not likely to be interested
in your corresponding Google AdSense ads. Work to drive traffic but
make a concerted effort to find traffic that adds value to your blog.

Research and test keywords.
Google serves ads through its AdSense program based on keywords.
Advertisers bid on keywords relevant to their businesses. Some keywords
are more popular than others and therefore, drive higher bids. Higher
paying keywords also mean higher payouts to you when your readers click
on them. The ads served on your site are determined by the content on
your site. If you're writing about topics related to higher paying
keywords, then you're likely to earn more money from your Google AdSense
program than if you wrote about topics related to lower paying
keywords.

Test Google AdSense ad positions on your blog.
You can display Google AdSense ads just about anywhere on your blog.
Test a variety of positions on your blog to determine which work best
for you in terms of generating click-throughs and maximum revenue.

Tips:

Check with your blogging software provider and blog host to ensure your blogging package allows you to place Google AdSense ads on your blog. For example, Wordpress.com does not allow Google AdSense ads.

Don't
fall victim to the allure of covering your blog in ads to generate
income. Blogs that are cluttered with ads are difficult to read, and
readers typically don't return to blogs where the meaningful content is
hidden in between ads.

Track your results to see what's
working, particularly as you test keywords and ad positions. This will
allow you to develop the best advertising mix to maximize your blog's
income while staying consistent to your blog's brand image and overall
message to readers at the same time.

Google AdSense is a very popular blog monetization
tool because it's easy to join the Google AdSense program, easy to
integrate a variety of ads into your blog, and ads don't have to take up
a lot of space. However, there are a few rules you must follow unless
you want to get banned from the AdSense program and make no money at
all. Following are five of those rules:

1. Don't Boost Clicks Artificially

There
are a number of ways that Google AdSense publishers (such as bloggers)
can artificially boost the number of clicks on the Google AdSense ads
that appear on their sites. Following are a few methods that might be
tempting but are considered spam and are a surefire way to get banned
from the Google AdSense program:

Clicking on AdSense links on your blog yourself.

Asking other people to click on the AdSense links on your blog.

Using any kind of automated process to increase clicks (whether you create the process or a third party does it for you).

Joining with a group of other people to click on AdSense ads on each other's blogs or websites.

2. Don't Display More than the Allowed Number of Ads on a Page

Make sure you read the current Google AdSense Program Policies and only display the number of ads allowed on a single web page at all times.

3. Don't Fill a Page with Ads but No Original Content

Any
page on your blog that includes Google AdSense ads must include more
original content than ads. In fact, Google considers displaying a page
full of ads with little or no original content a form of spam.

4. Don't Create More than One AdSense Account

It
might be tempting to create completely separate Google AdSense accounts
and publish ads from both accounts on the same blog in order to get
around rule #3 above, but doing so is a violation of Google policies.
While you can add more than one blog or website to your Google AdSense
account, you may not have more than one actual account.

5. Don't Try to Trick People into Thinking AdSense Ads are NOT Ads

Hiding
text link ads within the content of your blog posts in an attempt to
make people think they aren't ads is a violation of Google AdSense

Simple Ways to Get Your Blog Noticed in The Blogosphere. The blogosphere is a big and busy world with over 100
million blogs and growing. How do you attract visitors to your blog?
Follow these simple tips to drive traffic to your blog.

1. Write Well and Write Often

Frequently
updating your blog with useful content is the first step to building
your blog's audience. The content you write is what will keep readers
coming back for more. Make sure you have something meaningful to say to
them and say it often to maintain their interest and keep them loyal.
Furthermore,
post frequently to increase the number of chances you have for your
blog's content to be noticed by search engines such as Google or Technorati.

2. Submit Your Blog to Search Engines

Get on the radar screen for the popular search engines such as Google and Yahoo! by submitting your blog's URL
to them. Most search engines provide a 'Submit' link (or something
similar) to notify the search engine of your new blog, so those search
engines will crawl it and include your pages in their results.
It's
important to understand that simply submitting your blog to search
engines doesn't mean your pages will appear at the top of a Google
search results screen, but at least your blog will be included and will
have the chance of being picked up by a search engine.

3. Use and Update Your Blogroll

By adding links to sites you like in your blogroll,
the owners of those blogs will find your blog and will be likely to add
a reciprocal link in their blogrolls. It's an easy way to get the link
to your blog in front of many readers on other blogs. The hope is that
some of those readers will click on the link to your blog on the other
blogs' blogrolls and find your content interesting and enjoyable turning
them into loyal readers.

4. Harness the Power of Comments

Commenting
is a simple and essential tool to increase your blog's traffic. First,
respond to comments left on your blog to show your readers that you
value their opinions and draw them into a two-way conversation. This
will increase reader loyalty.
Second, leave comments on other blogs to drive new traffic. Make sure you leave your blog's URL
in your comment, so you create a link back to your own blog. Many
people will read the comments left on a blog post. If they read a
particularly interesting comment, they are highly likely to click on the
link to visit the commentor's website. It's important to make sure you
leave meaningful comments that are likely to invite people to click on
your link to read more.

5. Syndicate Your Blog's Content with an RSS Feed

Setting up an RSS feed button on your blog makes it easy for your loyal readers to not just read your blog but also know when you publish new content.

6. Use Links and Trackbacks

Links
are one of the most powerful parts of your blog. Not only are links
noticed by search engines, but they also act as a tap on the shoulder to
other bloggers who can easily identify who is linking to their sites.
Linking helps to get you noticed by other bloggers who are likely to
investigate the sites that are linking to them. This may lead them to
become new readers of your blog or to add links to your blog from
theirs.
You can take links to other blogs a step further by leaving a trackback
on the other blog to let them know you've linked to them. Blogs that
allow trackbacks will include a link back to your blog in the comments
section of the post that you originally linked to. People do click on
trackback links!

7. Tag Your Posts

It takes a few extra seconds to add tags
to each of your blog posts, but it's worth the time in terms of the
additional traffic tags can drive to your blog. Tags (like links) are
easily noticed by search engines. They're also key to helping readers
find your blog when they perform searches on popular blog search engines
such as Technorati.

8. Submit Your Posts to Social Bookmarking Sites

Taking the time to submit your best posts to social bookmarking sites such as Digg, StumbleUpon, Reddit and more can be a simple way to quickly boost traffic to your blog.

9. Remember Search Engine Optimization

When
you write your blog posts and pages, remember to optimize your pages
for search engines to find them. Include relevant keywords and links but
don't overload your posts with too many relevant keywords or completely
irrelevant keywords. Doing so can be considered spamming and could have
negative results such as your blog being removed from Google's search
entirely.

10. Don't Forget Images

Images
don't just make your blog look pretty, they also help people find you
in search engine listings. People often use the image search options
offered by Google, Yahoo! and other search engines, and naming your
images with search engine optimization in mind can easily boost your
traffic.

11. Consider Guest Blogging

Guest blogging
can be done when you write a guest post on another blogger's blog or
when another blogger writes a guest post on your blog. Both methods are
likely to increase traffic as your blog will be exposed to the other
blogger's audience. Many of the other blogger's readers will visit your
blog to see what you have to say.

12. Join Forums, Web Rings or Online Groups

Find online forums, web rings, groups or social networking sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn
where you can share ideas and ask questions of like-minded individuals.
Add a link to your blog in your signature line or profile, so each time
you post on a forum or participate in another online network, you're
indirectly promoting your blog. Chances are many people will click on
that link to learn more about you.

13. Promote Outside Your Blog

Promoting
your blog shouldn't stop when you step outside the blogosphere. Add
your blog's URL to your email signature and business cards. Talk about
it in offline conversations. It's important to get your name and your
blog's URL noticed offline, too.

14. Nominate Yourself and Other Blogs for Blog Awards

There
are a number of blog awards given out throughout the year. Nominating
yourself and other blogs and bloggers can draw attention to your blog
and drive traffic to it.

15. Don't Be Shy

The
most important part of the blogosphere is its community and much of
your success as a blogger will be tied to your willingness to network
with that community. Don't be afraid to ask questions, join
conversations or just say hi and introduce yourself. Don't sit back and
hope the online world will find you. Speak out and get yourself noticed.
Let the blogosphere know you've arrived and have something to say!

people within the blogosphere, grow relationships with other blog
readers, and increase traffic for their own blogs. There are two
primary types of guest blogging:

Guest blogging on your own blog: When someone writes a post
for you to publish on your own blog. That blogger will typically
contact you and ask to provide a guest post to you, or you can contact a
blogger you like and request a guest post.

Guest blogging on someone else's blog: When you write a
guest post to be published on another blogger's blog. Typically, you
contact a blogger whose blog you enjoy and ask if you can provide a
guest post contribution.

Whichever way you participate in guest posting is effective in terms of growing the audience for your blog.

How Guest Blogging Increases Blog Traffic

When you write for another blog, you're introducing yourself to the
entire existing audience for that blog. With that in mind, it's
important to submit guest posts to blogs that are established with a
steady flow of traffic. On the other hand, when someone writes a guest
post to appear on your blog, you can be sure he or she will promote the
guest appearance and drive traffic to your blog. You'll have the
opportunity to establish a relationship with that blogger and expose new
visitors to your blog at the same time.

Bottom Line About Guest Blogging

Guest blogging is a win-win situation for both bloggers involved. It
helps to grow traffic for both blogs and strengthens blogger
relationships. Don't be afraid to ask for guest posts from bloggers
whose content you enjoy (and who you think can write a post relevant to
your blog's audience) or to ask if you can write guest posts for them.

10 Tips for Guest Blogging

Today I will share to you 10 Tips for Guest Blogging. When you contact another blogger and ask him or her if
you can contribute a guest post to be published on his or her blog,
follow these ten tips to increase your chances of getting your guest
post accepted.

1. Read the Blog Where You Want to Submit a Guest Post

If
you want to have any chance at convincing another blogger to publish
your guest post on his or her blog, then it's absolutely imperative that
you take some time to get to know the other blogger, the content of his
or her blog and the audience for that blog. Take some time to read
through the blog's current content and archives. Read through the
comments and get a feel for what content is acceptable and popular on
that blog. Then submit a guest post idea that is relevant and fills a gap in the existing content.

2. Provide Your Credentials

When you contact
another blogger and pitch your guest post, be certain to provide your
credentials. Make the blogger understand why you are the person to write your guest post and why the blogger's audience should listen to and care about what you have to say.

3. Provide Your Blog Statistics

If your blog statistics
are good, then make sure the other blogger knows what they are. Share
your monthly unique visitor and page view stats as well as your rankings
from Google, Alexa and Technorati - anything that will demonstrate that
a guest post from you will provide useful links and potential traffic from your own blog readers when you promote it on your blog.

4. Be Honest and Straightforward

Don't
waste the other blogger's time or try to butter him or her up with
compliments. Chances are the other blogger will see right through it.
Instead, get to the point. Most bloggers (particularly successful
bloggers) are very busy. Ensure your email pitch spells out who you are
and what you can provide to the blogger and his or her audience clearly
and concisely. Additionally, don't embellish your credentials, blog
stats or other information about what you can provide. Chances are
you'll get caught.

5. Demonstrate You Know Something About Blogging

Tell
the other blogger how you'll deliver your guest post. For example, if
you send your guest post in a Word document, then the blogger has to
take extra steps to copy and paste it into his or her blogging software to remove extra HTML
code that Word automatically embeds. Make sure the other blogger
understands that you will make it very easy for him or her to publish
your guest post. Also, ensure the other blogger knows that you will
provide content that is unique to his or her blog and that all images
and content you provide will be yours or properly cited to avoid copyright problems.

6. Provide Links to Your Blogs and Online Writing

Show
the other blogger that you can write coherent and compelling blog
content by providing links to your blogs and relevant online writing
samples.

7. Start Small

Start your guest
blogging efforts on smaller blogs. It's always best to publish guest
blog posts on blogs that are bigger than yours to drive the most traffic
and gain the most exposure, but it's often best to start by guest
blogging on smaller blogs, learning the ropes and building your online
reputation and own blog traffic before you pitch a guest post idea to
highly popular blog.

8. Write Your Guest Post Before You Pitch It

If
you have time, write your guest post and attach it in your email when
you contact the other blogger. This will allow the other blogger to see
exactly what you can provide him or her, which a busy blogger is likely
to appreciate. Rather than having to email back and forth to determine
if you can provide quality, relevant content, the other blogger will
immediately know what you can provide, which just might increase your
chances of having your guest post accepted for publication.

9. Provide Your Best Content

When it comes
time to actually write your guest post, make sure the content you
provide to the other blogger is your absolute best. Provide your guest
post on time, free of spelling and grammatical errors, and in the agreed
upon format to increase your chances of being asked to return as a
guest blogger. Also, don't overload your post with links to your own
blogs or websites and other online activities. Instead, include a short
bio (a few sentences) with one or two key links to a page or website
that provides access to any other links you want to share. If your guest
post looks like spam because it's covered in links to your own content,
then it's unlikely you'll be asked to return as a guest blogger.

10. Promote Your Guest Post

Once
your guest post goes live, be sure to promote it and drive traffic to
it. If the other blogger sees a boost in valid traffic to your guest
post with new visitors leaving comments and joining the conversation,
it's likely you'll be asked to write another guest post in the future.
Don't just spam the post with comments from yourself (even if you use
multiple usernames), your friends and family though. Top bloggers will
know it if you do, and you won't be asked to return.

To best discuss this topic I should break this down into categories

1. Title Tags
The title Should contain keywords and keyword phrases that is important to your site. Our recommended maximum number of characters for this tag is 60.
Also when counting your characters remember that spaces are considered as well.
Titles should appeal to the reader otherwise even a top position will lose a lot of clicks.
For example, "shoes, nike shoes, best shoes, review shoes," is unlikely to induce a click. What may induce a click would be like:
Shoes - Find out the latest styles on name brand shoes.

2. Description
The maximum number of characters I recommend for this Tag is 150. Any longer than this and it will only be cut off and may count against your site being listed high in the search engines. Try to repeat your keywords that you used in your title in a proper sentence and in 3rd party. Advoid I, Me, Myself etc

3. Keywords
keywords My recommended maximum number of characters for this tag is 250. Any more than that may be considered spamming. Keep your keywords focused upon what your site is about.
Don't think that if I use an assortment of different keywords that your site will be a seller. Targeted marketing is associated with your keywords.

4. Keyword Nesting
Description: A term used in searching to indicate the sequence in which operations are to be performed
Enclosing words in parentheses identifies a group or "nest." Groups can be within other groups.
The operations will be performed from the innermost nest to the outmost, and then from left to right.
keyword nesting is nesting your top 5 most important keywords in the html page that the public will see. I would recommend using the keywords that you've used in your title, description.

5. Head Tags
not to be confused with (head) tags def.
HEAD or HEADER (of HTML document)
The top portion of the HTML source code behind Web pages, beginning with and ending with . It contains the Title, Description, Keywords fields and others that web page authors may use to describe the page. The title appears in the title bar of most browsers, but the other fields cannot be seen as part of the body of the page. To view the portion of web pages in your browser, click VIEW, Page Source. In Internet Explorer, click VIEW, Source. Some search engines will retrieve based on text in these fields.
Head Tags should be a repeat of your title tag. Most webmasters put their head tag right after the body tag. A head tag will look like this (h1) (/h1) with the ( and ) being replaced with < >

6. Anchor Links
Anchor Links is one of the most important html tags that your site needs to gain search engine page rank especially in google and msn.

Link building for effective SEO

When you begin the task of acquiring quality and relevant backlinks to your website there are many factors that can increase or decrease your search engine rankings. This article outlines the difference between good and bad backlinks.

A quality backlink pointing to your site should be in the same category and relevant in content to your website. The page where your link is located should be indexed by Google and the page should also have a Google page rank. The webpage where your link is located should also contain no more than 30 other out-going links to other websites. Link pages with more than 30 out-going links are less relevant to the search engines. Having your link posted on this type of webpage can affect your search engine rankings in a negative way. Other excellent techniques of acquiring backlinks are directory submissions, posting articles, blogs and forums.

For directory submissions select the proper directory category and take a look at how many other websites are contained in the category where your link would be posted, if you can manage to get on the first or second page of the listings, this is a quality backlink. Also look at the Google page rank of the landing page for your link. If the page has a Google page rank this is also a quality backlink.

Stay within your category, relevant content is very important to the search engines. Write an article preferably relevant in content to your website and submit the article to high quality article directories. Blogs are an excellent way to get quality one-way backlinks, Blog sites also receive tons of traffic, which in turn give your site more exposure. Posting your link on forum pages is also an efficient method of aquiring backlinks instantly.

Backlinks to avoid would be a zero page ranked webpage, especially if the home page has a zero page rank. Links posted within framed webpages which will also steal your traffic. Especially avoid link farms, webpages which contain more than 100 unrelated outgoing links, This type of link page is frowned upon by many major search engines. Avoid Webpages with mirror sites containing the exact same content with a different URL, also pages that utilize redirects and URL cloaking. Never post your link on a webpage that contains a "no follow" or "no index" robots meta tag within the source code. Dynamic websites with question marks in the URL should be avoided because they are not always indexed by the search engines.

Avoid posting your link on a page that opens very slow or contains mostly ads and flash banners. Try not to aquire or purchase great numbers of backlinks in a short period of time, backlinks should be accumulated gradually. Also avoid webpages and directories that list their results in alphabetical order, as their database increases your link could be moved to a less relevant page with less pagerank. Quality backlinks are one of the most important factors involved in the process of acheiving high search engine ranking.

How to Write Title Tags for A Web Pages

When it comes to search engine optimization, the single most important sentence that you will write for your website is the title tag of your main page. If you write it properly then you will have taken a big step towards getting your site well placed in search engine queries for your important keywords.

Before I give you a step-by-step guide to writing title tags, let's define what they actually are and see why they are important. When you look at a web page in your browser, the writing in the blue strip above browser's commands (file, edit, view, etc.) is the title tag. On your actual html document the title tag is in the head portion between the notation <title> and </title>.

The title tag is important because it "tells" the search engine what the page is about, and in the case of your main page, what your website is all about. I remember back in my school days that we used to take standardized examinations in which we had to read a story and then answer the question: "What would be the best title for this essay?" Choosing a title tag is something like answering this kind of question. You've got to pick out the gist of your enterprise and highlight it in a sentence. So, take a look at your web page and get ready to begin, following these steps:

1.

Make sure your three or four most important keywords or keyword phrases appear in the title tag. The most important words should appear near the beginning of the sentence, and they can be repeated within the sentence for added emphasis. For example, if I am offering low-cost web design, then my title tag might look like this: <title>Web Design: Affordable, Low Cost Web Design from the Acme Web Design Company</title>

2.

Leave your branding and sales pitch for another part of the web page. Although it is a natural tendency to want to put your company name at the beginning of the title tag, you should remember that unless you are very famous like Coca Cola, people are not searching for you. So, put your most important keywords at the front of the title tag, and establish your brand name with your logo and other elements of the web page. If your company name includes your keywords, like our hypothetical Acme Web Design Company, then put it in the title tag, but not necessarily at the beginning.

Similarly, the title tag is no place for your sales pitch, so keep out flowery or extraneous adjectives, unless they are actual terms used in searches for your product or service.

3.

Place your geographical or niche-defining term in your title tag. If you are trying for a top ten or top twenty position for a term such as "web design," then you are really in for a difficult struggle. However, suppose the Acme Web Design Company is located in Columbus, Ohio. Then instead of attempting the almost impossible task of getting the top rankings for the term "web design," it would be far better to get a high ranking in the geographical niche using a title tag such "Web Design, Columbus, Ohio: Low Cost Web Design in Columbus, Ohio by The Acme Web Design Company"

4.

The title tag can be longer than you think. Some guidelines say that the title tag should be no longer than 70 characters. It is true that only the first 70 characters will show in the top bar of the browser, but search engine robots will read the rest of the tag and the search engines will not penalize you for going over the 70 character mark. Take a look at highly ranked sites in heavily competitive categories and you will see examples of long title tags. Write the tag according to your need to get your important words and phrases included in a sentence that best describes what your product or service is about.

5.

Vary the title tags on the inner pages of your website. Even with a long title tag, it is not possible to highlight all the possible terms which someone might use to find your website. This is not a problem if you make use of the other pages of your website. Instead of simply having a title tag that says "services" our web design firm could highlight "low cost, web design services" on that page. The "contact" page could be used to emphasize the geographical location once again, and so on. Many websites make the mistake of repeating the same title tag on each of the inner pages of the site. Avoid this and use each of your page's titles to target important keywords and keyword phrases.

So, take a look at your website's title tags, and see if you can improve them. The effort that you make will be well rewarded.

Meta tag optimization results in high Serp

I was compelled to publish this article after noticing several SEO specialists writing in reference to meta tags being dead or obsolete. Meta tags are not dead. I will be the first to say, meta tags are utilized by all major search engines and are very much in use and extremely important to search engine ranking. If you need proof of how important meta tags are, try removing your meta tags and watch what happens to your search engine positioning. Your site will plummet to the depths of the unvisited web. Meta tags are frequently an overlooked factor which can improve the ranking of most any website.

This is an example of how vital meta tags are to your webpage and to your search engine ranking. Our website ranks #6 and #7 consistantly on MSN for the keyword submit site. To test the dead meta tag theory, our source code editor changed one word in the meta description tag and we dropped to #15 in the search results. Our rankings on Google and several other search engines suffered even more so. Needless to say we made changes accordingly. All major search engines definitely utilize meta tags for a description of the webpage and for indexing within the search results.

The title tag is one of the most important on page factors to consider. This is because search engine spiders read this tag first and place a high level of importance on the keywords found there. The title tag is also used for the title of your listing in the search results. The contents of your title tag will also appear in the top left corner of the browser bar. Correct title tag optimization is essiential and will result in a dramatic increase in your search engine ranking. The title tag should contain at least one or more keywords to be of any relevance to the webpage.

Search engine spiders read the description meta tag next. This tag is often used as a website description in the search results. The description tag should also contain a few keywords. The keyword meta tag is also vital to search engine ranking giving search engine spiders a sample of relevant text and content within a webpage. Other meta tags include robots, resource, author, copyright etc. These tags are not as important as the title, description and keyword tag, however they should be included if possible. To acheive high search engine ranking optimize your meta data. Proper onpage optimization will greatly improve your search engine placement.

Important SEO Principles

SEO is the means for improving a website's ranking in Google, Yahoo, and Bing.

Once those keywords and phrases have been researched, your content can then be structured effectively so that it is 'optimized' and SEO friendly. Other methods include linking, (both internal - within your own site, and external - other websites linking to yours) and implementing meta-tags, subheads, and website descriptions throughout your web pages. By using Google Webmaster Tools to submit your URLs, you help Google's web crawlerdo a more complete and efficient job of crawling your site. Webmaster tools enables you to submit all of your pages to the Google index, and it's particularly useful for making sure that we know about all dynamically generated URLs or pages that are not adequately linked to on your site. But please note: submitting a page to the index will not guarantee inclusion or influence your PageRank, and isn't a replacement for creating compelling and useful content.

Once you've made sure we have access to your site, you can see the common words used to link to your pages and that are seen by Google. This allows you to see trends in your site's content, and can help you determine why you may be ranking for particular keywords. You can also see which page has the highest PageRank by month. Some site owners are surprised to find that this isn't always the home page. If an internal page has the highest PageRank, you might consider spending more time optimizing the ads there.

We let you know if, and why, we're having trouble accessing your site or specific pages. If we can't crawl a page, we can't index it -- so fixing any errors we list can help improve your overall coverage. You can also see what pages you are blocking from other Google bots -- this lets you experiment with changes to see how they would affect the crawl of your site.

Using Google webmaster tools, learn which Google queries created clickthroughs to your site and where you were positioned in the search results for that query. You can also view data for individual properties and countries as well. For instance, you can see the queries from users searching Google Images in the United States that returned your site in the results. You'll only see properties and countries for which your site has data.

90. Don't create Flash splash pages (AVOID)

Search engines can't read images, and they see Flash as a giant image. Flash and search engines
don't mix well. If you don't have extensive alternative HTML that
displays when Flash is not enabled, then your site won't rank well in
search engines. Be sure to test your site with a browser with Flash
disabled to find out what the search engine sees. You might be
unpleasantly surprised.

91. Don't write Flash-only sites (AVOID)

If you're going to use Flash on your site, you must
have an HTML version that displays when Flash is enabled. It can be
tempting to put in just a single line or two of HTML as your non-Flash
alternative, after all, you've done so much work on the Flash site. But
since the search engines only see the HTML, that's what they'll rank,
and you won't rank high with just a tiny version of your site in HTML.

If
you must use Flash as your site, and you want to rank well in search
engines, you need to be prepared to write your site twice - once in
Flash and once in HTML.

92. Never redirect to another domain (AVOID OR GET BANNED)

Redirecting
to another domain is not a 100% guarantee that you'll be banned from
search engines. But it is a very common spammer trick used in
conjunction with doorway pages and cloaking. If you set up a redirect
that goes to a new domain, you need to write it as a 301 HTTP redirect, not a 302 or meta refresh. This tells the search engine that this redirect is permanent, and they should change to the new domain in their directory.

93. Be Careful Redirecting to New Domains - You Could Be Banned

Since
this trick is commonly used by spammers, it's a very good idea to avoid
doing it. Search engines can be very hard to get back into if your site
is banned by mistake.

94. Never link invisible images (AVOID OR GET BANNED)

Invisible
images are images that are 1x1 pixels in size and cannot be seen by the
naked eye on a Web page. Since links are given some priority in ranking
a Web page, linking images that cannot be seen by your customers
appears to be aimed only at search engine spiders.

Don't Link Single Pixel Images - Your Site Will Be Banned

This
is similar to hiding text or displaying different content to search
engines than to your customers. And don't assume that search engines
can't read CSS or HTML tags that resize full-sized images. If you do
this to optimize your pages, your site will be banned.

95. Never include invisible text on your pages (AVOID OR GET BANNED)

Hiding
text by making it the same color as the background color may fool your
customers, but it won't fool search engines. Another variation of this
is where you make the font size so small that it's unreadable by the
naked eye.

Don't Hide Text - Your Site Will Be Banned

Search
engines understand CSS and font and background colors. They also
recognize that a font-size of 1px is not going to be readable. Text that
is hidden from your readers but visible to search engines is considered
spam and will get your site banned.

Never create doorway pages (AVOID OR GET BANNED)

Doorway pages
are very simple HTML pages that are written to optimize heavily on one
or two keywords or keyword phrases. And they are programmed so that
search engines spiders see them, but regular readers are taken to the
real site.

Don't Use Doorway Pages - Your Site Will Be Banned

Doorway
pages are designed to trick search engines into thinking that the site
has a specific keyword relevance that it may or may not have and they
are pages meant to be seen only by the search engine. So, most search
engines will ban sites from their directory when they discover you use
them.

Never display different content to a spider than customers (AVOID OR GET BANNED)

This is often called cloaking
because it is an effort to cloak what your site delivers in something
that might be seen as more palatable to search engines. It can be very
tempting to use cloaking, but while it might give you better results at
first, search engines don't like it.

Don't Cloak Websites - Your Site Will Be Banned

Search
engines want to provide a resource of information that is real, not
something that has been doctored to give artificial results. When they
discover that your site is cloaking, it will be removed from the search
directory.
