By the time royalties, bills, shipping, fees, interest, etc are paid, there isn't really much left. We import the pea shellers, and that has been nothing but problems nearly every batch. As a result, the current product lineup of Lee Mfg Co will come to an end after current inventory is spent. This will likely mean an end to the 101 and 202 corn cutters, 600 pea sheller, 800 electric pea sheller, and the 808 cabbage cutter by the end of 2025.
Stay tuned for updates.

Southern Living article

Our patented (decades ago) corn cutter was featured in Southern Living recently. As a result, there was a bump in sales of the popular corn cutter and creamer first produced by Mr. Lee himself.

I'm sort of proud of it since I (John) drew it up in 3D CAD (using Alibre) and then printed it on our 3D printer. I did multiple iterations to get the feel of it just right. My goal was to make it feel comfortable in the hand and also be effective at removing dry corn kernels from large ears of field corn. After I was happy with the design, I then got the product quoted for production with various injection molding companies in the U.S. and overseas. After lots of discussion regarding production costs I settled on a company in China. I was then able to send them a 3D CAD file which they used to produce molds for the sheller.

Several weeks later they sent me several samples using different types of plastic. In the meantime, I designed the simple product label. After I was satisfied with the product and label, they began production. After a few more weeks, several pallets of these nifty little gizmos showed up at our warehouse. We now sell these on our website and on Amazon.

It was a really enjoyable process and very neat to see a product through from conception to retail.
Wanted to make sure we got it up before gardening season. Check out how fast I was able to cut 125 ears of sweet corn in preparation for the freezer in the summer of 2013. In just 34 minutes I removed whole kernel corn from all of those cobs. I was working at a moderate pace, so a faster throughput could be achieved if you really worked fast. The key is to make sure the cutting blade is set to the right height and that you have a nice solid "backstop" to push against. The scraper blade should be removed or lowered. The shredder plate must be removed completely.

If you were going to process cream-style corn, it would take a little longer. For cream-style, you need to make multiple passes over the entire surface of the cob. This helps to get all of the sweet juice (or milk as it is sometimes called). The shredder plate would be in place and the scraper blade will be raised. Also for cream-style, be sure that the first cutting blade is lowered (or possibly removed) so that the very tips of the kernels is clipped. The "jackets" of the kernels should be left behind when preparing cream-style corn.

Pea Shellers

Pea and bean shelling time is here across many parts of the country. Several electric Pea Sheller Sr's are shipping out daily. Don't wait until the last minute to get your pea sheller. Remember we are the producers of the Pea Sheller Sr and Pea Sheller Jr (both originally called Mr. Pea Sheller). You can buy them directly from us via our website at www.leemfgco.com. Don't forget that we are the original producers of the Lee Corn Cutter and Creamer too. There are a few companies out there making a knock off version (even selling it on amazon.com under our name). These are made by Norpro and are in no way affiliated with Lee Mfg Co. This goes for both the wooden and stainless steel versions.
So, you have your pecans picked up. Now what? You can either crack and shell them by hand or maybe take them to a local "pecan house" to have them cracked for you. When we have a lot of pecans we usually opt to take a feedsack full to the local cracker/sheller outfit. For a few dollars they will crack them all for you and you can pick them up ready to shell (pick out the meats). If you are planning on cracking them yourself, it could be a tedious job. But our nutcrackers can hopefully make that job easier and faster for you.
This year we are pleased to offer the Reed Model #2000 Nutcracker for sale. It is American-Made and constructed of tough, reinforced plastic. It is light and durable. Plus it is quite a bit cheaper ($) than other similar nutcrackers on the market. Here is a video clip of this pecan nutcracker in action.

Pecans is becoming the central theme as we head into cooler weather. It won't be long until those pecans now hanging encased in a nice green hull begin to fall to the ground, hopefully without the hull! You need to start thinking about how you will go about picking up those pecans. If you only have a small pecan tree, you will probably be able to get by with just picking them up by hand. If you have a large, established tree or even multiple pecan trees, you will probably need to find a faster and more efficient method of picking them up from the ground. We are proud to offer the Pecan Broom pecan picker upper for sale to all of our retail customers. This is a top-of-the-line pecan harvester. It has a gathering basket constructed of heavier gauge wire than most other pecan pickers. It will last longer and not be as susceptible to being bent. In addition, it has a handle that breaks down into small sections that allow you to easily store the picker or to shorten the handle length. It works great!

As you can see in the video, it also comes with a bucket attachment that allows you to easily empty the pecans into a bucket.
The Pecan Broom with save you tons of time and help prevent a sore, aching back!
Lee Manufacturing Company is proud to offer this nifty little cherry stoner on our website. We have several other cherry pitters to offer as well. The cherry pitter is by far the most economical and practical cherry pitter on the market. It is easy to use, so buy 2 or 3 and let you kids, grandkids or even husband help out! Here is a video of us using the Push Button Cherry Pitter to pit a few cherries for a fresh cherry cobbler. It was GREAT!!

All you need (in addition to the cherry pitter) is a canning jar (Mason jar). Just screw the Push Button Cherry Pitter securely to the jar and you are all set. Place the cherry in the "cradle", push the button and POP, the pit is in the jar and you are left with a nice pitted cherry.

The Push Button Cherry Pitter should work well with olives too, although we have not tried it ourselves.

Magic Fingers Bean and Pea Sheller

A few decades back there was an item on the market called the Magic Fingers. It was very much like our Pea Sheller Jr. (Mr. Pea Sheller) and our electric Pea Sheller Sr. in that it had 2 rotating rollers that shelled the beans. We found one on Ebay recently (see our pics below). We will give it a try on some peas and beans in a few weeks. That will make for another post here.
