Sector Rotation insights from SIngapore Straits Time Index

I learn most of my investing ideas on investopedia.com, and from investopedia it was stated in the article Sector Rotation: The Essentials by Chris Stone (Link) that Sector rotation is an investment strategy involving the movement of money from one industry sector to another in an attempt to beat the market. Now with job data making new recoveries in the US, while for Singapore expecting higher economy output. (Link) I was thinking maybe it is time to change my portfolio. I build my past portfolio based on Sector Rotation strategy. My portfolio consist only the following J
· Courage Marine (Link)
· Marcator Lines (Link)
Both of the stocks belongs to the transportation sector, I bought the stocks right after the financial stocks in Singapore starts rebounding because in march 2009 market starts to rebound with heavy buying, many stocks were cheaply price J so it was a good time to get the financial stocks but because I was a student and does not have much funding I miss that boat. However, I read in the article that

“Early Recovery -Finally, things are starting to pick up. Consumer expectations are rising, industrial production is growing, interest rates have bottomed and the yield curve is beginning to get steeper. Historically successful sectors at this stage include:
·         Industrials (near the beginning).
·         Basic materials industry.
·         Energy (near the end).”

Then I thought maybe I could get shipping stocks because they are still cheaply price and if in the early recovery stage industrials and basic materials are going to grow, there will be a need for transportation services. So there I was getting my transportation shares.

Now that the market has recovered, DOW is going for 11,000 and Our STI going its 3,000. Maybe it is time for me to change my portfolio according to the sector rotation strategy. With reference to the article,

And now we have oil futures hitting US$86 (link) , Singapore MAS stating that will be adjustment to the Singapore currencies, in addition a few Asia countries have started to increase their interest rates. Maybe we are now in the Late Recovery Stage and I am thinking maybe I should be getting staples and services stocks now.

I just attended a wedding dinner with my mom and I was thinking what kind of topics that people talked about while they are waiting for the ever "late" dinner to start.

I start to wonder too if attending a wedding dinner is it like those college reunion where old friends and long distance relatives meet. Old friends meet and they chat about old time about the funs they had before..than moving to what are you doing now and very soon topic will soon run out and the table become oddly quiet and cold. Well for relatives, since they have long time not meet the topic would usually fall on their sons or daughters. When are they getting married the most important question of the day... Then they will move to comparing their lifestyle, wah you are so lucky now and you get to enjoy your life now... ; grass is always greener at the other side. Well this is usually for the so called "older generation" for me when I have no common topic I just type on my phone surfing the net, blog and start to think about topics to blog. I believe very soon in the near future wedding dinner may be obsolete, and people may just start to watching wedding online. Maybe something like this would draw more people ?

Re-entry of the groom and bride and tine to pop the champagne and some words from the couple;) plus toasting and cheers with the guests
And it’s back to more food;)

Fast Food bad for health, Can it ever be healthy

It has been a long time since I had fastfood. So this week I had fastfood twice in a row, on good friday and saturday. I was at tagfest working so everyone was lazy to step out to get food and the best option was to get fastfood. On good friday I had kfc for lunch, 2 piece chicken...plus some mashed potatoes. I was feeling fine still. Than came Sat, I had macdonald for lunch this time round filted o fish meal. Well the fries does taste very good. But after the lunch I feel so bad I feel so bloated, I felt sick. Maybe it is because I have not eated fastfood for a long time my body is not used to it or they are just poison. I seriously think in the marketing materials that Fast Food merchant provides they will and never can project themselves healthy in my point of view.

*on friday night, had home cooked dinner, and sat morning I had noodles. Just in case some of you wants to know hahaha…

Romanian diplomat Hit and Run , Singapore

Well finally after so much of investigation, the truth is out and Our "Mr. Act Blur & Finding Excuse" Romanian diplomat no have other reasons to protect himself. He is Guilty!!!

But what is the punishment that he will be getting is the one I would love to know, Hit and Run is a serious incident in Singapore but over at Romania I am not so sure plus, he should be added with more charges as he leave the country right after the incident. This should put him onto a heavier punishment.

But now that he is back in his homeground, there is nothing much we can do, I think...and I believe he probably would not be getting any serious punishment from his side. If this really the case, then as always life's not fair. How I wish he was caught in Singapore and that would definitely change his freaking life.

Becoming a farmer, that is something to be consider especially with the resource development increasing in demand & with increasing population there may be some truth that a farmer may become a very rich man but that's taking into consideration that the middle man involves in the trade do not exploit the farmers. And looking into this opportunity I am wondering if I want to start up a business in Singapore involving agriculture . maybe I can look into urban farming :)

If you are planning to have your own icon by the side of the web address just like mine for the 2010 blogger's new template, you could follow some of the instructions that can be found on line. But as i was doing some of the search certain links only provide you the code and does not give you the details to the hosting site for your ico picture.

Because if you try to post a picture.ico up on to tinypic or picture bucket, they may not work. The COE for the open category is up from $27,590 to $42,001. Just imagine a year ago the price of was around $12~13k. Now the prices of COE are higher than the cars...:) well hopefully the car dealers with come up with more attractive promotions to tackle the crowd. Asset bubble in property, I think the same goes for COE... Just browse through the links and you will see in 2007 even when the market was still doing well, COE was still not as high. This makes me wonder... how do they actually come up with the COE calculation, I understand that there was a change in coming up with the prices but at this level..." there goes my dream of owning a car "

My review of Disqus comments - Bad!!!!

For users or bloggers out there who are considering to use Disqus as your comment system. DO THINK TWICE!!!

so what happened? I was looking for a comment system that could act as a value add to my blog, and so I found Disqus.com > so reading some reviews on the Disqus comment system on the web I decided to give Disqus comment a try. Well, the installation was exceptionally easy, the user just need to upload its .xml file on to the system than a code will be generate and you can easily copy and paste it into your blog... walaaaa... the disqus comment system is up... so far so good.

However, because the comments were sync with the disqus server...all existing comments from my blog were gone. It became worst so I decided to delete away the disqus comment system... hahaha the was no easy installation for removal...I did a search on "how to delete disqus for blogger"you will find a few useful links. but when you look at the posts they are a year old. So what else I try to contact the "official rap" to help me, I email him but have yet to hear from him.

Than I saw another post so I follow the instructions, guess what all my comments were gone and my original comment system were no longer available. I had to revert back to my original template losing all my customization > having wasting more time to redo my blog.

My 2 cents worth do not follow this instruction:

Use any text editor (plain text mode) remove everything in between the following tags:
Once completed, DISQUS will be removed from your site

It will destroy your blog. > in this case it kill mine. :(

Wordpress vs Blogger - A month's time

It has been month since my last post on my decision on blogger. After my decision I move on to customize my blogger, giving it a simple look trying out various SEO methods such as changing the title tag of my blog spot, adding meta description of the post and adding post url keyword in titles. I also added a sitemeter to track the pageview of my blogs. Concurrently, I was also importing my newly blog post to wordpress > I was looking to test the SEO of blogger and wordpress.com. Here was something I posted on earlier on about blogger's SEO.

It has been a month now, but the stats between the wordpress and my blogger is total apart. With the same post and everything constant, my wordpress with imported blogger post gain 200 page view while blogger with the original post gain only 87 views.> this says something about blogger's SEO. During this period, blogger in draft launch template design, and my hear goes finally blogger has another feature comparable with wordpress.com > this also makes me believe that I had made the right choice.

Than I start to notice something, I need some serious readership to share comments perhaps (or rather a community). Blogger does not give you the option like wordpress to have a dashboard which shows what are the latest post on wordpress.com / tag surfer ... with the options I could easily share my posts among other of the same interest. I tried to compensate with the use of stumble upon, but SU often came back with blogs that no longer "alive" - updated..

Since wordpress.com has limitation on ads > which I favor for blogspot : but if t here are no readers there is no points for ads.
I have plans to go for wordpress self-hosted. I ave check the cost for hosting in Singapore the total cost will be S$60 while hosting on Godaddy on the wordpress package will cost around $79. Maybe I just have to weight the cost and benefits.

Very interesting video on Barefoot running, in fact I am now considering to buy a show either fivefingers or Newton, while for Newton it would be a good start for me because it looks more like a shoe and it still has that cushion for your feet, unlike fivefingers it would be a 100% change over to barefoot running.
hmmm, so do I change to newton first than to five fingers or should I go for five fingers straight?

Today, I went to join Merlion for a rowing session, well feeling was good rowing with some of the old friends. But right now I am suffering from the sore on my butt. Plus I attended church after the rowing session, the timing was perfect :)

I think I would be joining the main team for any row because of the time crushes, I actually want to attend service on Sunday. And I had a good service today. I learn about love and I have heard this topic for many times.

Love that gives - how much can you give or are you only here to receive? - I mean there are many things to reflect on this statement

for example, about the neighbor that is mentally unsound and her dog that keeps barking and disturbing us at night - can I forgive her?

Love that initiates - are you willing to take the first step to reach out and share?

Can I take sometime off and ask someone, how is your day? listen to their problems and not only to the ones I know and also to the ones I barely know

Love that builds up - with reference to Peter's story about his journey with God, he went through the phases of rejecting God, I had the same problem, I had been a back slider for years until, I started to pray (I still do not attend service regularly) at night before I sleep, I always feel better and fresh the next day especially the financial problems (heavy loans payment) I faced. Age 28, i have just graduated from NUS, I am only earning $7.00 per hour and my mom still have to hold mahjong session at home just to get by our living expenses. I want to give my mom a good life, she has been supporting me for years, gives me good education and comfortable living. But who would expect after my graduation I am still earning a part timer pay, I was think i may 大时代 and maybe bring my mom out for lunch every Sunday. After many prayers, (No not that God given me a car, but I also realized there are also many ways of enjoying good times with my mom, like having breakfast with her not necessary on a posh restaurant but a simple meal at the hawker.)

Tml, I would be having a meeting with Lawrence, I have explained my problems with Yiyang and we would see what are the advices from Lawrence.

Does blogger really have a better SEO than wordpress?

Well, i have read quite a few blogs that mention that Blogger may have better SEO ability compare to wordpress/wordpress.com. Here is one example.

Google loves Blogger blogs. It’s no wonder, it’s their company. Do their algorithms give Blogger blogs an unseen advantage? In a way, yes. First, by being a subdomain off of an established Google owned domain this seems to allow them to get recognized quicker than comparable self-hosted WordPress blogs. Second, the default Blogger templates are rather SEO friendly and can be made even more so. Lastly, you can find a keyword targeted URL name easier than you can in the domain marketplace although the Blogger names are also becoming more competitive.
Many WordPress themes are poorly optimized for SEO so you will need to take this into consideration. You will also have the challenge of getting Google to recognize your new domain. While rapid indexing techniques can help you’ll sometimes encounter domains that Google stubbornly refuses to recognize for various reasons. so I try monitor my reader's stats. I have 2 blogs. leetucksing.wordpress.com and leetucksing.blogspot.com
I usually update my blog on the blogger side, than I will just click the import button on wordpress and I am good on both blogs. * Note. I am using wordpress.com but in the article it was writen for selfhosted wordpress.

Okie. back to visitors stats, I see my wordpress stats gaining in number each day while for the blogger there was not much visitor. Moreover a search on my name shows that wordpress are on the top of search list. In fact a more recent search a lso shows the same result despite I am updating my blogger blog more regularly. Well in my opinion, maybe wordpress may have a better SEO than blogger, but that wouldn't be much of the use since wordpress.com does not allow ads :)

I wonder who would win the mobile race in apps in time to come. Apple started with a lead... Google followed tightly behind, Nokia too but not too receptive of its Ovi platform (my opinion).. Will Win7 Mob make the cut...?

For those who are contemplating about about wordpress vs blogger, because wordpress has a better and stylish template maybe this could change your mind :) I think this certainly add points to blogger esp. when I am too thinking if I should change back to wordpress :)

for those considering about a new blogging platform or new to blogging - take a read at this and it may just change your mind and you would not be thinking about just blogger or wordpress because you will be presented with only a single option :)

Yes! I have completed my first Ironman Langkawi - 14:48Hrs.

First part of the swim was not so great but it was make up by the 2nd 2km :) 1.33

Bike was tough... 7.12 I should have train more on the bike esp. on the slopes

Run - I have to Thank Mr. Chua from MF Safra who allow me to pace with him. Allowing me to reach a pace of 5:45 for the 42km run.

Well now after the IM what is next? I am also quite lost, do I go back to DragonBoat or do I focus on run now. Current status to get up my financial up and running well so that I could give me mom a good life. As for sports I would keep it as a body maintenance... but it would be good if I could have a shot at IM aiming at 13 Hrs. or even Kapa - a 6.5kkm swim :)

Just 4 more days to IM,

Tml I will be leaving for Langkawi, but who would expect that Tiger Airway suddenly delay the flight time, from 12pm to 3pm departure time. Luckily the date did not change.

I have not really pack yet, so I think it is okie ...hehe since I get more time for packing. Have to get to langkawi fast, cannot stop thinking about the race, really driving me crazy for this time round,

Also just realized I could blog from flickr, and the photo was really well taken. Nice Job :)

Ironman 6 days to go - my mixed feeling

Ironman eve. What to do the day-before your first one...

Reading the article from about certainly makes me more nervous than ever. 6 more days to IM... I am getting butterfly in my stomach already. For the past 2 weeks I have mixed feeling about IM both excited and worry... I hope this is a good sign... I am starting to think of Andy Ng's word... just let your heart go "Just do it" and reading from this article "The world is filled with people who will wander through their time on this Earth without truly "living" and experiencing the thrill of stepping out of the comfort zone of their everyday lives. Lives that often leave them thinking there must be more, that just maybe they are missing out, but are never quite able to take that first step into a new, bold adventure."

Tml I am going for a light run and maybe swim if I have the time... hoping to catch some light exercise before flying over. As fo rpacking I am currently half done. Tml I will continue and see if I left out any items. Currently I know that I lack of "the special biscuit" and some comfort food to bring aloong :)

I also been listening to music that keep my motivation high and this is one of them.

I have spent many hours..an I mean "many hours" wasted any of manyy productive hours>>>deciding what platform to use. Wordpress or Blogger?... I mean... Does it really matter which platform I chose since both are free.... In fact I been switching between the 2... (the WP I am talking about here is Wordpress.com and not wordpress.org :) )

I started with blogger, because it was first to reach Singapore, I think.. then when I was in China for exchange .. I change to wordpress because blogger was blocked... there was not much problem then.. coz it was quite obvious if you want to blog then it is the wordpress platform you have to use...www.yo2.cn > Now right now back in Sg.. I am deciding which platform to use... I have been reading the different reviews and feel that in the Web more hands are given to wordpress for their platform functionality and template selection. I also have a wordpress ID/blog I have to decided now what platform to use because I only want to update one and not both.

I have to step back and think what is the purpose of my blog. My main purpose of my blog is to have a "dairy" that one day people can remember me of... maybe in 100 years time someone could do a search on "leetucksing" and they could find something on me :) ... if you look at my previous you will understand that if someone do a search on "leetucksing" the first result to show up will be "facebook", "twitter" and "WP". "WP" really makes your presence on the web more noticeable than blogger.

The link above certainly makes things clearly but I am still undecided what platform to use... However I have now decided to use blogger now because I believe as a newbie it is certainly much easier to do so because

Creating style on WP requires upgrade - Blogger is free
Having your own domain name is only Us$10 compared to US$15 for WP
Now that Blogger also have pages ... same with WP
It allow ads, that if you are planning to put ads
There are more apps for Blogger but the Apps are not as nice/ beautiful as WP

One of the common issue i read online is that Blogger having poor templates compared to WP but a search on Blogger template will give you many more choices that you may need. Then again too much of something is also no good because sometimes simplicity is the best.

Maybe in the future if I may change to WP... but by choosing blogger now and if I really need to change it to WP .. it is just a click away however for blogger it is not. If you blog on WP now and if you wish to transfer your stuff over to Blogger, you have to covert the file and the process is not easy I feel and there are constrain.

I have recently been thinking if i should get a data plan so that i can check email n stuffs while on the go since it is just $10 additional... but come to think of it there really any much use since i can check mail at hm and in the office. moreover i am using WM6.1 which means it intergration with mobile web is real bad...not to mention there is really a lack of decent apps.

it is also 9 more days to ironman... as each day comes near i get more worry.. i keep telling myself to take it easy but my heartbeat just race
