What better way to mark the end of a successful year than with a Holiday Party?!?

Yesterday, San Francisco LegalMatchers new and old gathered around two very large tables to exchange Secret Santa gifts, trade stories, and enjoy each other's company. The chips and salsa were plentiful, as were some people's appetites: more than a few brave souls took the "Grande" lunch challenge and met their match. There was also a gift card raffle that awarded tabs at Best Buy, Amazon, and Starbucks to name a few.

LegalMatch Scares Up Some Halloween Spirit

LegalMatch employees don't miss many parties. When the call went out to the Los Angeles, Austin, and San Francisco offices that LegalMatch was holding a 2010 Halloween Costume Contest, everyone put on their scary best for big prizes.

The 2010 contest winner was Byrdie Banderas, always ready for action (right):

Second place went to Bethany Chisler, who looked surprisingly like someone else in the Austin office (below):

Third place went to David Hanten - that is a costume, right? (below)

Congrats to all the winners! Although I think from looking at some of the rest of the pictures, below, you'll agree that we all came out ahead.

LegalMatch Farewell to Ryan Courtwright

A moment of silence was observed today when San Francisco
socialite and LegalMatch employee Ryan Courtwright stated that he will be leaving us August 1st. Parting with his beloved California shores to attend school this Fall, Ryan is pursuing his Master’s Degree in Space Agriculture, or English maybe.

He first started at LegalMatch two years ago as a cubicle-dwelling legal intern and climbed the ranks to Copywriter Extraordinaire making quite a splash in the legal blog and newsletter scene in the United States and Germany. He's just like the Hoff and also likes a good cheeseburger. Don’t worry folks, he’ll still be doing graphics for us and writing our amazing Newsletters.

Ken LaMance, his boss and yogi, was quoted: “Ryan has so much machismo that he jump-started my electric car by winking at it once, seriously.” Lisa, a creature handler and employee at LegalMatch, hurtfully whimpered that “the office will
FINALLY stop smelling like cheap Jack in the Box tacos and spilt Dr. Pepper. He chews with his mouth open.”

Before driving off into the sunset with his gorgeous chef-girlfriend Samantha, Ryan will be awarded with LegalMatch’s highest honor: The Golden Scales which come with a NEW Apple iPad. Okay, I'll admit he gave me $5 to say that. It'd be cool though, right?

Note: LegalMatch HR Manager Niesha Sweet will be available for any employees who would like to talk about his departure or get counseling. We are all deeply moved by the loss.

LegalMatch 1st Annual Breakfast Bash!

Fridays can be tough. Sure, LegalMatchers love coming into work but every once in a while we need a little something extra. Even Mary Poppins, queen of babysitters and nannies alike, supports a "spoon full of sugar to help the medicine go down." In this case the medicine would be Friday morning. And the sugar? Panera breakfast sandwiches!

According to Mr. Breakfast and his friends with fancy degrees, "eating breakfast has an advantageous effect on late-morning mood, satiety and cognitive performance." I'm not sure about all that fact mumbo-jumbo but do know how delicious those puppies taste. I don't mean actual puppies. That didn't go over so well last time.

LegalMatch House Party Bowls a Strike

The LegalMatch House Party at the South San Francisco headquarters was a complete success. There was a great turn out for BJ's food, Nintendo Wii Bowling, Ping Pong, Poker and a few lucky employees also went home with raffle prizes.

The LegalMatch team works hard, so the powers that be decided to show their appreciation with food, entertainment, and prizes. DJ LZ came up with a great mix of party jams, but the main focus was playing Wii which incited some friendly office rivalries.

Ken was dominating the bowling scoreboard with a score of 190 before Matt edged him out with a 198. Honorable mentions to Jose, Kelly, Melinda, Lisa, Kimber, Denis, Laurie, Niesha, and Jake. Teejay dominated in ping pong as usual. Ben dealt poker and forgot to wear his green visor, much to our dismay. The party was also a chance for staff to meet new LegalMatch Membership Recruiting Managers Robin and Juan (Left Picture with Denis).

While we can't say anything is for sure, there has been talk of an impending Wii Bowling Tournament. Stay posted...
