The Fabulous Legend of Swing show by Paul-Hayden of the British Rat Pack literally rocked or rather swung Leamington Spa theatre last night with such an incredible cast of high end corporate entertainers that included Paul-Hayden, Joe Corrigan, George Anthony, Val Kelly and special guest Kirsty, The Legend of Swing orchestra by(Barisons. Brian Hill), and Vegas Show girls proved that a non tribute show was the best thing happening in swing music for music lovers.

Revellers were blown away by the live music entertainment that this production offered and delivered.

The charming Paul-Hayden gave a prequel of the forth coming performance as the show opened with the acappella “Hush” highlighting the pure vocal talent that was in store for those in attendance.

These Head line soloists proved so much amazing talent with mind blowing harmonies as a vocal unit as well as incredible solo performers.

This show had a class above all other swing shows. The natural fun on stage filled the theatre while in addition the Big Swing Band /Orchestra were mind blowing, punchy and concise.

As far as journeys are concerned The Legend of Swing show covered everything from the 1920’s Crossroads into this millennium. They brought to life in a very unique way the smash hits that were made famous by Billie Holliday, Glenn Miller, Marilyn Monroe and The Rat Pack.

There were no pretentious tribute performances as this entertaining show is fit to bring Las Vegas into this millennium.

Val Kelly bounced the house with Peggy Lee’s “He’s a tramp”. George Anthony grooved the audience with Nat King Coles “Pennies from Heaven”. Joe Corrigan rocked the boat with Bublé’s “Cry me a river”, while Paul Hayden truly punched out “That’s life” in a unique manner that the great Frank Sinatra would have been proud of.

The Legend of Swing show has always incorporated some very special guests along the way including; Ian Gomes, Mim Grey and on this occasion the fabulous Kirsty singing “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend” with gorgeous burlesque show girls amongst others on stage that brought the house down.

The Legend of Swing orchestra are a real who’s who when it comes to the support they have given to many celebrities as BBC and Westend musicians, the members are provided by the excusive “Brian Hill” of Barisons Management. This great sixteen piece Big Band was led by the brilliant Musical Director “Duncan Lamont” who opened the second set with beautiful instrumental renditions of “Glenn Miller’s” Sing sing sing and In the mood.

The Legend of Swing production was written by Paul Gittins and co director Joe Corrigan. It has continually pulled in an incredible line up of the United Kingdom’s top corporate vocal entertainers, a blistering big band orchestra and fabulous dancing show girls from the Vegas Show Girl act.

After the show at Leamington, Paul announced that this production will now be made available to the high end of corporate entertainment and party planning sector which is the music entertainment industry from which he is accustomed having performed for Royalty, Coutts and the like.

“Though we have always blown away all audiences in attendance at the theatres, this production only came to light because of our successfully working the corporate entertainment sector. Therefore it is only right after this tour that the high end of corporate entertainment and hospitality should benefit from the Legend of Swing production”.

We say “That if you the public want to see a show that has cost many thousands in the making then go to the final public showing in Bournemouth on the 22nd July because unless as with the previously entertained Coutts top 80 who make a cool £ million on every heart beat you will probably not get the chance to see the show again unless on television”.

The Legend of Swing show corporate entertainment that was made available to the masses with our compliments and those compliments of corporate entertainment companies.

The Legend of Swing theatre show received a long deserved standing ovation throughout the last two songs and the reprise at its premier performance at The Grove Theatre last Sunday the 19th September 2010.

This show is incredibly “NEW, NOW & WOW”.

The Legend of Swing is a beautiful show with no tribute artists. It highlights many massive songs that have charted from the 1920′s into this millennium. The show evolves from “The Birth of the Blues” into Big Bands while including Swing Music’s golden era in Las Vegas as well as current chart smashes.

Overflowing with unbelievable talent in the carefully selected lead and solo vocal cast of; Paul-Hayden, Joe Corrigan, George Anthony, Val Kelly and guest Cheryl Hemmings who opened the evening with The Crossroads acapella “Hush” which showed off their incredible vocal harmonies.

These guys dazzled with amazing performances and entertained us throughout the night with some great orchestrations including “Stormy Weather” by Billie Holliday, to; Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, The Rat Pack, “He’s a Tramp” Peggy Lee, Bobby Darin, Nina Simone and Glenn Miller which brilliantly ran into Christina Aguilera’s “Candy Man” and Michael Bublés “Cry me a river”.

The “Sensational” “Legend of Swing” Orchestra was directed by Duncan Lamont who conducted and led the sixteen piece band of top international and West End musicians. The sound and music choice was perfect in the Grove venue as each of the lead vocal cast performed blinding and harmonious performances with solo’s, duets and full on vocal cast that started and concluded the first half of the show.

After the Interval

Duncan Lamont and The Legend of Swing orchestra opened with an explosive performance of the instrumental “Sing Sing” following with Déjà vu singing Glenn Millers “Boogie Woogie bugle boy” and Candy Man by Christina Aguilera.

Host Paul-Hayden then took to the stage and gave a very warm heart felt introduction to Ian Gomes Who is the amazing resident solo pianist at The Ritz in London while also having had the honour of playing in private for Frank Sinatra over a period of 11 years.

Ian opened with “My Way” by Frank Sinatra was joined on the second verse by The Legend of Swing Orchestra. As the song came to its emotional crescendo one could almost feel Sinatra’s presence in the theatre. “Working for Mr. Sinatra was one of my favourite eras” said Ian.

There then followed a beautiful brief intimate selection of songs with just piano and lead vocals as the theatre chilled and relaxed into this very special moment. “I get a kick”, “Fly me to the moon”, “Night and day” and “Til” were among the great classics.

The Guys, Ian Gomes and Legend of Swing orchestra then brought the show to the Las Vegas heydays of swing with a British style Rat Pack and refreshingly original performances that did not impersonate; “which was fantastic”!

The audience gave a standing ovation over the last two numbers “Mack the knife”, “New York” as the Las Vegas Show Girls provided the icing on this amazing cake.

In all Paul-Hayden of the British Rat Pack put on an amazing show!

I’ve had 101 percent positive feedback from everyone on both sides of the stage and house. Negotiations with a major UK tour company are already on the table. For me it was great working with such talented professionals. No egos or divas just pure Class throughout. You guys and the support teams were all absolutely awesome. Thanks, Paul-Hayden of the British Rat Pack

Three of the cast from the Legend of Swing Show including members of the British Rat Pack cruised into BBC Three Counties Radio and gave a cracking acapella renditions of Hush, Nice and Easy and Me and My Shadow. Kush Genesis interviewed Paul-Hayden, Joe Corrigan and George Anthony about this amazing show which is to be performed at The Grove Theatre this coming Sunday the 19th September 2010. “It’s a one off for one night only”. Genesis was quick on the uptake and grabbed the guys in as soon as he heared what was going down on the grapevine. Much of the lead vocal cast are locally based and are supported by a fantastic orchestra and guest in Ian Gomes (Sinatra’s man). The event is massive and welcome news for Luton and Dunstable music lovers.
