The main LEGO promotion for early June is The Lord of the Rings Grond (40893). You can only get it from June 1-7 with a purchase of Minas Tirith (11377) and I think it’s the perfect gift with purchase set to go with it.

Minifigures

The set does include two generic Orcs, one in red and one in olive green. The red one has silver metallic armor printing on both sides of the torso and legs. It has a double-sided head showing an evil smile on one side and an angry expression on the other. It does wear a helmet and has a machete as a weapon.

The green orc has a different style armor that is also metallic silver. Its double-sided head shows a stern look on one side and an angry snarl on the other. It’s accessory is a bow and arrow.

Build

The build consists of two separate smaller builds that combine towards the end. The first part is the wooden frame that holds the wolf. It has four pillars that had chains to hold up the wolf. There are wheels to roll it towards the Great Gate It is a little shorter than the source material as it had three sets of pillars. As a result, the wolf is also a little shorter.

A new LEGO Technic Formula 1 set has been revealed with the Aston Martin Aramco AMR25 (42240). Releasing on July 1, the set has 1,547 pieces and will retail for $229.99. The set features a new F1 car for the Technic line that has a two-speed gearbox leading to a V6 and simulated electric engine and also has a working differential and functional steering.

The LEGO Instagram account has teased some new LEGO Formula 1 sets coming soon. The teaser shows some McLaren papaya colored boxes showing LN1 and OP81 which references Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. We’re guessing it’ll be more helmet sets similar to Charles LeClerc (43014) and Lewis Hamilton (43022).

At the end March, LEGO Ideas started a LEGO Pokemon building contest where the winning build would become an official set. The premise was to build an original full art Pokemon TCG card from a select list of eligible Pokemon. The fan vote for the contest is now live and there are five finalists to choose from. LEGO will be releasing a couple of June Chinese Traditional Festival sets and the first one we’re checking out is the Prosperity Carp Leaping (80120). The set has 736 pieces and retails for $59.99.

The Chinese has a famous phrase 鲤鱼跳龙门 which translates to Carp Leaping over the Dragon Gate and that symbolizes good luck in one’s life achievements. This set is a brick-built representation of that symbolizm.

Build

The first couple of bags are used to build the base foundation of the set. This includes the turning mechanism at the back which utilizes the transparent light blue circle gear tracks.

The front of the base has a lot of forceful waves from the leaping fish. There’s a printed tile in the front which loosely translates to “fish leaping over the Dragon Gate.”

Between the section of waves and the wheel, there is the Dragon Gate itself. The pillars stand in the middle of the waves and right in the middle of the gear track so the fish are able to leap over it. Some detailing on the gate include the printed coin in the front and useage of the pearl-gold frogs and dragon head sword hilt.

As for the fish themselves, there are three of them, all different colored but built similarly. Two of them attach to the gear wheel while the last one is at the front right corner of the build.
