The previously reported DK-Optic CHIARO 75mm f/1.9 lens for Leica M-mount, based on the Dallmeyer “Super Six” 3-inch f/1.9 design from the late 1930s, is now available for purchase on eBay from the reputable Japanese retailer Shotenkobo:

This limited edition run includes 300 pieces, featuring a classic optical design and rare NOS glass (250 lenses with blue coating and 50 lenses without coating). Additional informtion on the lens can be found here and here:

Two new M-mount lenses will make a world premiere at the 2026 CP+ show in Japan this week: DK-Optic CHIARO 75mm f/1.9 & Optics PEACE 35mm f/1.4 E41

DK-Optic lenses for Leica M-mount (coupon code included)

A faithful reproduction of the optical design of the Dallmeyer “Super Six” 3-inch F1.9.

Based on the optical design of the Dallmeyer “Super Six” 3-inch F1.9, this lens employs a 4-group, 6-element configuration that faithfully follows the original. More than just an homage that mimics the appearance and feel, this lens aims to revive the tonal characteristics, three-dimensionality, and bokeh that blend seamlessly into the background—all hallmarks of classic lenses—using modern precision machining and assembly techniques. To pursue the original optical characteristics, the optical system utilizes large-diameter NOS (New Old Stock) optical glass manufactured decades ago. By combining vintage optical materials with modern manufacturing technology, it pursues the unique light texture and tonal expression characteristic of classic lenses.

The three-dimensional effect and rich bokeh produced by the 75mm F1.9 lens.

The combination of a 75mm medium telephoto angle of view and a wide aperture of F1.9 allows you to maintain a suitable distance from your subject while enjoying a sense of depth that makes the subject appear to float above the background. At wide open aperture, it produces soft tonal gradations and rich bokeh, while in backlit situations, it exhibits characteristic flare and light diffusion. Stopping down the aperture results in a more refined image with improved contrast and sharper outlines. The 16 aperture blades are designed to maintain a nearly circular bokeh shape even when stopped down.

Features and design that support photography

The minimum focusing distance is 0.7m, and it is compatible with Leica M rangefinder coupling. You can enjoy a wide range of photography, such as portraits and snapshots, while taking advantage of the original Leica M shooting style. It can also be used with 44x33mm format image sensors.
*When using a 44x33mm format sensor, slight vignetting and light falloff will occur around the edges of the image. Please crop as needed.

A metal lens barrel that utilizes the know-how of cine lens manufacturing.

The lens barrel is made of high-strength, lightweight 7075 aluminum alloy, while the main parts of the focus helicoid and aperture mechanism use CNC-machined brass components. Leveraging the precision machining and assembly techniques cultivated by DK-Optic in cine lens manufacturing, the lens achieves both rigidity and smooth focusing operation while incorporating a large-aperture optical system. The result is a classic and refined design that harmonizes beautifully with M-type Leica cameras.

Two coating options to choose from.

The blue-coated version retains the soft rendering characteristic of classic lenses while enhancing color reproduction and contrast. The non-coated version is suitable for those who want to actively incorporate flare, light diffusion, and contrast changes in backlit situations into their photography. While sharing the same optical design, you can choose between two specifications to suit your lighting preferences and desired rendering style.

Filter attachment set for lens hood

55mm diameter lens filters can be attached not only to the front of the lens (49mm diameter) but also inside the lens hood. Please note that the inside of the hood is narrow, so exercise caution when attaching or removing filters. Also, depending on the thickness of the filter frame, it may interfere with the hood and cannot be attached. Please use thin-frame filters.

Leica M11-R camera rumors

The latest rumors suggest Leica plans to release this camera as the next M12 version. Here is what to expect:

• The Leica M12 will use the same 60MP sensor and processor/engine as the M11, not the Chinese-made Gpixel sensor reported earlier.
• The Leica M12 will have a larger rear screen.
• The camera is reportedly already in production.
• The official announcement is rumored for early 2027.
• The buttons will be on the right side instead of the left, similar to the Leica SL3-P and Leica Q3:

The French camera manufacturer Pixii (see previous coverage) has entered judicial liquidation, according to the French corporate and legal registry. Pixii cameras are now up to $800 off at B&H Photo:

According to French business records, the company went through the following sequence:

• December 10, 2025: The Commercial Court of Besançon opened redressement judiciaire proceedings against Pixii. This is a court-supervised restructuring process for a financially distressed company.
• May 20, 2026: The court extended the observation period to December 10, 2026.
• July 22, 2026: The court converted the restructuring proceedings into liquidation judiciaire.
• August 2, 2026: The liquidation judgment was published in France’s official business notices.
• July 31, 2026: The court authorized business operations to continue only until this date.

The company had been seeking additional funding/partners to scale production of a next-generation model (initially targeted for summer 2026, later pushed toward 2027):

The next-generation Pixii digital rangefinder camera with Leica M-mount is essentially complete, the company is now looking for investors, partners, and collaborations with other camera manufacturers

The official records can be found here:

• Papers: Pixii corporate and legal records
• Auregistre: Pixii liquidation status and timeline
• Le Figaro Entreprises: published legal notices

The company is in judicial liquidation, but that does not necessarily mean every aspect of the Pixii business has permanently disappeared. In France, judicial liquidation generally means a company cannot continue operating under its current financial circumstances and that its assets will be realized to pay creditors. Depending on the circumstances, the company may sell assets, intellectual property, or business activities to another company.

Previous coverage of Voigtländer lenses can be found here.

Here are the full details on the new COLOR-SKOPAR 35mm f/2.5 VM “100th model”:

Lens specifications:

Lens features:

Thin yet highly functional.

Despite its slim profile of just 23mm in length, this lens barrel features a design that prioritizes ease of operation. The focusing lever has a shape that fits comfortably in the finger’s groove, and the aperture ring has a satisfying click feel, resulting in a solid and reliable operating experience.

Includes a specially designed hood with slits.

A beautiful, durable, and custom-made metal bayonet-mount lens hood is included, which minimizes vignetting when mounted on a rangefinder camera. The exterior is finished in silver, creating a harmonious look with the lens.

Machined aluminum rear cap

It comes with a three-piece metal rear cap. By using aluminum as the material, it achieves both a satisfying metallic texture and lightweight design.

Manual focus allows for precise focusing.

The all-metal helicoid unit, machined and adjusted with high precision, and the use of high-quality grease that produces just the right amount of torque, enable smooth focusing operation and allow for precise focus adjustments.

Bayonet-type VM mount

The lens mount uses a VM mount compatible with Leica M mounts. It is suitable for use with rangefinder cameras, and also offers excellent design balance when mounted on mirrorless digital cameras via a mount adapter.

Equipped with a rangefinder coupling system.

The high-precision rangefinder coupling mechanism allows for precise focusing even at wide apertures.

Full-size image circle

It boasts a generous image circle, compatible with 35mm full-frame cameras. Furthermore, it achieves a remarkably compact style compared to interchangeable lenses for SLR cameras.

Additional information:

Cosina Co., Ltd. is releasing the COLOR-SKOPAR 35mm F2.5 (SKOPAR 100th model), an interchangeable lens designed specifically for full-frame VM-mount cameras under the Voigtländer brand.

The COLOR-SKOPAR 35mm F2.5 (SKOPAR 100th model) is a special edition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the introduction of Voigtländer lenses bearing the “Skopar” name. Based on the COLOR-SKOPAR 35mm F2.5 PII—a long-selling wide-angle pancake lens released in 1999—this model features an elegant silver exterior finish.

The COLOR-SKOPAR 35mm F2.5 PII is highly acclaimed as an excellent everyday lens, offering not only compactness but also superior operability and mobility. Its optical system, a legacy spanning over a century, delivers sharp definition and rich tonal gradation on film cameras; however, when used on digital cameras equipped with older sensor designs, color casting may occur at the edges of the frame.

In addition to its practical, compact, and lightweight design—measuring just 23mm in length from the mount and weighing 134g—the COLOR-SKOPAR 35mm F2.5 (SKOPAR 100th model) features carefully selected fonts for its distance and aperture markings, consistent with the company’s “Vintage Line” products. As befits a special edition, it comes with a slotted metal lens hood and a rear cap, both finished in the same silver as the lens body. The durable, beautiful, dedicated bayonet-mount metal hood not only dresses up the camera with a classic look but also minimizes viewfinder obstruction (vignetting) on rangefinder cameras thanks to its slotted design.

The lens rear cap is a special metal version constructed from three separate parts. By using aluminum as the material, it combines a metallic texture that satisfies the desire for ownership with a lightweight design.

Oberwerth released a new Signature Bag L flagship bag in a warm light brown (use the coupon code RUMORS for a discount):

Additional information:

Oberwerth Signature Bag L: the flagship bag, now in a warm light brown

Some colors simply belong to leather. Oberwerth, the Germany-based maker of handcrafted leather camera bags, now offers its most prestigious model in exactly such a shade: the Signature Bag L is available for the first time in a classic light brown with a warm cognac note. It is the version customers have been asking for since the Signature Line was introduced, and it comes in limited quantities.

The Signature Line is the finest work the Oberwerth workshop produces, and the Signature Bag L is its largest model. It is made for photographers who refuse to choose between their cameras. Two bodies and several lenses travel together in the padded main compartment, held in place by two adjustable dividers, ready the moment the light is right. A front pocket takes an 11″ iPad Pro, and a concealed compartment holds an Apple AirTag, so a kit of this value is never out of sight.

Open the flap and a soft red lining frames the equipment like a jewel case. Close it, and what remains is a quiet, elegant leather bag that gives nothing away about what it carries.

The leather comes from one of Tuscany’s renowned tanneries, vegetable-tanned and built in traditional frame-stitched construction that keeps the bag in shape over years of use. In light brown, this leather is at its most alive. It darkens gently, picks up the traces of every journey and develops a patina that belongs to its owner alone. A full leather strap with a wide shoulder pad makes even a two-body setup comfortable to carry all day. Oberwerth backs the bag with a lifetime warranty.

Key specifications:

• Capacity: two camera bodies and several lenses, plus an 11″ iPad Pro in the front pocket
• Material: vegetable-tanned cowhide, frame-stitched
• Interior: red lining, two adjustable dividers, hidden AirTag compartment
• Exterior dimensions: 29 × 21 × 13 cm (11.4 × 8.3 × 5.1 in)
• Colors: light brown (new, limited quantities), dark brown, black
• Warranty: lifetime, after registration

The Signature Bag L in light brown is available now on the official Oberwerth website, while quantities last.

A historic Leica 0-Series camera sold for €4.25 million at Wetzlar Camera Auctions – one of the most expensive cameras ever sold at auction:

Reminder: the next Wetzlar Camera Auctions is on October 10th – here are the Leica highlights

Wetzlar, Germany, October 11th 2026 – A rare Leica 0-Series camera from 1923 achieved an outstanding €4,250,000 at the eighth auction of Wetzlar Camera Auctions (WCA) on Saturday, 10 October 2026, making it one of the most expensive cameras ever sold at auction.

The historic camera, serial number 103, attracted intense international interest and a 20-minute bidding battle involving several telephone bidders before being sold for more than twice its upper presale estimate of €2 million.

The camera was the undisputed highlight of an auction featuring 259 lots of historic cameras, lenses and photographic accessories, with particularly strong results for rare Leica models, experimental prototypes and other historically significant photographic equipment.

A landmark result for one of Leica’s earliest cameras

Produced in 1923, the Leica 0-Series cameras were experimental models built to evaluate the revolutionary 35 mm camera concept before the decision was made to begin serial production.

Only 16 examples are known to survive in museums and private collections worldwide, making them among the rarest and most historically important cameras in existence.

“The Leica 0-Series represents the very beginning of Leica’s remarkable history and is regarded as the holy grail of Leica collecting,” said Lars Netopil, co-owner of Wetzlar Camera Auctions. “The exceptional result for No. 103 reflects its extraordinary historical significance, remarkable originality and outstanding provenance.”

Serial number 103 was the third camera produced in the series. Leica’s camera numbering began with 101, a tradition that continued through more than six million serial numbers until today.

The camera had remained in a private U.S. collection for more than 50 years and was preserved in exceptionally beautiful, original and complete condition.

Exceptional demand for early Leica prototypes and rare models

Another important piece from the earliest days of Leica history was a handmade prototype of the Leica Model A, which achieved €225,000.

This historically significant camera served as the reference for a final technical drawing dated August 05th 1924, prepared by Wilhelm Schaefer, a close collaborator of Leica inventor Oskar Barnack. Chronologically, the prototype represents an important link between the experimental 0-Series of 1923 and the first serially produced Leica cameras.

A magnificent gold-plated Leica I Model C “Luxus” from 1931 achieved €375,000. Fewer than 100 examples of the gold-plated Leica I models were produced, and only two examples of this particular Model C “Luxus” version were ever made.

One of the most remarkable results was achieved by a recently discovered, unique Leitz 24 × 24 mm square-format prototype camera dating from 1946–1948. Featuring a central shutter and no coupled rangefinder, this extraordinary experimental camera sold for €137,500.

A rare prototype of the Leica M4 from 1965, incorporating several handmade components, also achieved €375,000. Only two examples of this prototype version are known to exist.

Strong results for rare black-paint Leica cameras

Rare black-paint Leica cameras and lenses from the 1950s continued to attract considerable collector´s interest.

A particularly desirable black-paint finished Leica MP from 1956 achieved €325,000. Fewer than 140 examples of this historically important model were produced, originally for professional photographers.

An exceptionally rare early black paint finished Leica M3 with black frame counter sold for €187,500, further demonstrating the appeal of original, highly collectible Leica M cameras.

Among more recent Leica models, a distinctive grey-blue lacquered sample version of the current Leica MP, dating from 2015, achieved €40,000.

International interest extends beyond Leica

Although Leica cameras formed the core of the auction, important photographic equipment from other manufacturers also achieved outstanding results.

One of the highlights was an extremely rare Arsenal Salyut 1V space camera set from 1968, manufactured in the former Soviet Union. Complete with three lenses and extensive original documentation, this remarkable piece of space photography history achieved €75,000.

“The growing international interest in historic Soviet space photography equipment is particularly fascinating,” said Jo Geier, co-owner of Wetzlar Camera Auctions. “For decades, cameras associated with NASA missions have attracted strong collector interest. We are now seeing comparable enthusiasm for rare photographic equipment developed for the Soviet space programme. The €75,000 result for this remarkable Salyut set underlines that development.”

Another exceptional result was achieved by an extremely rare Nikon Fish-Eye Nikkor 6.2 mm f/5.6 prototype lens from 1970, featuring an extraordinary 220-degree angle of view. The lens sold for €75,000.

A successful auction of photographic history

The results of Wetzlar Camera Auctions’ eighth sale underline the international collector interest in historically significant cameras, exceptional prototypes and photographic equipment combining rarity, originality and outstanding provenance.

From Leica’s earliest experimental cameras to pioneering space photography equipment, the auction brought together important objects representing major milestones in the history of photography.

All prices quoted are final sale prices, including buyer’s premium.

The next Wetzlar Camera Auctions sale will take place on Saturday, October 09th 2027. Consignments are now being accepted.
