Hey,

Well, I will have just had my 5 minutes of fame at this terms Leicester Geography Network. I am starting this thread on the blog in order to gauge interest and gather suggestions from those interested in creating a collaborative unit of work aimed at getting year 9 to participate in geography rather than just letting it happen to them. (if you were not at the meeting and you are interested then the powerpoint I used is here)

Please leave comments regarding your interest in working together or suggestions for themes/issues to study.

CfBT Regional Conference at the Tigers

As mentioned at the last workshop, don’t forget to book your free place on the CfBT regional conference.

The session is due to take palce on the 12th March and will outline exactly how you can further develop your curriculum plans for KS3. We are in the rather fortunate position that the chosen venue for the East Midlands is the Tigers ground!

This is a specialised search engine for geography teachers, geography students and anyone interested in all things geographical.

It is based on the Google Custom Search facility. Unlike the normal Google Search, this search engine will only look for web sites within a pre-determined set of useful geography-related sites. This means that you will get more practical suggestions and (in theory) less time is wasted going through web sites that have no real significance to geography.

A great idea that looks set to grow! Big thanks to David Raynor for this one!

Aerial Photo’s of Leicester

Recently on SLN our very own Preche, AKA Rob Manger has spotted that the Leicester Mercury has just published a special edition aerial photos of Leicestershire newspaper for 50p.The photos should be useful for settlement patterns, and urban regeneration at least.
