With changes in life, come changes in priorities. My life haas always been about writing, but now my life IS my family. I am focusing my talents, gifts and time towards my children's books and the Edgerton Autisnm Group. Saying that, I have bad news. In one week, I will be pulling my book Stained Shorts. Because of the varied content, including some pretty "rough" stories, I don't want it to interfere with the more important aspects of my life and career. So if you would like a copy you had better order it in the next week. Thank you everybody for your continued support... and don't worry, I'm not growing THAT much!

Our family is in the process of starting a social group for families dealing with ASD. We're trying to make it possible for once a month to be able to take your family out to eat without having the employees and customers giving you dirty looks and making comments. Instead it would be with other people dealing with a similar situation and more than likely, similar experiences to share. We're located in Southern Wisconsin and are looking for other people who may be interested in joining, helping or even willing to give advice.

It's time to get my crew together and hit the streets Guerrilla style! I neeed at least five six people for the crew who can blast through a set at an open mic and make the room their own. I was curious if anybody would be interested in joining a "Guerrilla Poetry Crew". Here's the basic idea:

1. Meet once a month on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon
2. Pick an area of the city with plenty of indie coffee shops, book and record stores, etc to head to
3. As a group, go in and ask the owner/manager if we can do an unannounced open mic
4. Set up and read to everyone, no one, or each other for that matter

There's Guerrilla groups in larger cities like Chicago and Milwaukee and they're actually getting A LOT of press.

As long as we do it respectful, the businesses will get as much out of it as we will. Businesses in the other cities are using it as advertisement: "Where Will They Be Next?!"

My interview with the Edgerton Reporter went real good. They said it should be in the paper either September 8th or 15th. It looks like it will be a very thorough article! They'll be printing a bio, publication credits, upcoming events, internet links, an excerpt from one of my books and two photos! I'll keep you posted if anything changes.

Well, today at 3:00pm I'm having a photo shoot to get some new publicity shots taken. I figure I'm due since the last time I had any done was for my first book which was seven years, seventy tattoos and seven hundred gray hairs ago. Yes, I'll get all dolled up and join the ranks of my airbrushed, sandpapered sisters of America's Next Top Bulemic. With (or without) the permission of the photographer, I'll post some here later. This is a research survey for my new book "Life Lessons of a Single Father to Be"

I'm a happily married, stay at home dad with two sons. We always deal with "guy stuff" the best we can while still staying inside "Mom's Guidelines". So I've decided to break the rules and write a book for every man told through the eyes of a single father-to-be I'm doing research for my new book. I need A LOT of straightforward input from only men. I'm hoping for tons of testosterone fueled, unapologetic, chauvinistic male views and ideas on the subjects. I want you to pretend that your wife/girlfriend isn't holding your testicles hostage in her purse right next to her lipstick and tampons. Just answer these as if you and your son are the only two people around... it's the only way to get the honest answers and input I need. As soon as you can get this info to me the faster I can start working on the book, "Life Lessons of a Single Father to Be".

Here's a few hypothetical scenarios to get you thinking about the research:

1. Best and worst pickup lines

2. Best lie told to get laid

3. How to hide a hard-on in public

4. If you have or might have a son, what advice would you give him if your significant other couldn't stop you.

5. What do you wish someone would have told you growing up? (if you talk about it you can start to heal)

6. What personal hygiene help/advice would have helped you avoid embarrassment?

7. What sex advice? (good, bad and coyote ugly)

8. What knowledge can you pass along about the "fairer" sex? (shouldn't our sons benefit from the decades of trial and ERROR we suffered through for thinking that women actually think, act and respond like the ones in porn?)

These are just a few questions to let you know what I’m looking for. The book will be a complete manual filled with the untold “secrets” for every man, not just the unborn child in the book. So I would love to hear all of your stories, ideas, opinions and nightmares that will help turn this into the ONLY handbook/manual needed for every single guy. All information gathered will be kept anonymous so you can feel free to unburden it all.

On February 16th, 2010 our lives changed forever when our son Johnny was diagnosed with autism. We knew Johnny wasn’t a typical 3 year old. His vocabulary only consisted of “Mama” and “Daddy”. He seemed to be trapped in his own little world, and had trouble telling reality from fantasy. Johnny won’t always respond to his name and rarely makes eye contact with us. We knew something was wrong, but it was completely disheartening to have our fears confirmed by the doctor. The worse is that our son can’t tell us what he wants or needs. He can’t tell us why he’s crying. Is he hungry, hurt, tired, sad, or mad at his older brother? We have to decipher his cries and whines as if he were an infant. And, we may never hear our son say “I love you.” Despite all of this, Johnny is still an incredible little boy. He is amazing at building Legos. He creates an image in his head of exactly what he wants to make, and then builds it without a pause or second thought. He also loves to entertain. He will dance and perform when ever given a chance. Yet sometimes his adorable performances show how he is slowly slipping more and more into his own little world. With intensive therapy he may be able to learn to talk and interact appropriately with others. Only time will tell. What we do know for certain is that Johnny Bishop Pierce will do amazing things one day.

This year we will be involved in the Walk Now for Autism Speaks in Milwaukee. We will walk on May 1st to honor our son and all the other strong families who battle with autism everyday. Our goal is to raise $1000. With help from our family, friends, and community we know we can easily reach this goal. We are asking for you to give what ever you can to team Johnny B. Cured. Every dollar counts. Your donations will go to help find a cause and cure for autism. As of today, 1 in 91 children are diagnosed with autism. Ours happens to be that one. Autism Speaks also raises awareness and helps these children get the therapy they need. As of right now it will be over a year before Johnny is eligible to get any kind of therapy. Each day that goes by with out intensive therapy is a day that child slips further into their own world. We are trying to raise awareness so insurance companies see how important this is and will cover this extremely expensive therapy. We appreciate what ever you can give, if only your thoughts and prayers.
