The Terry O’Neill Award has been running since 2007, it has developed through the support of Sunday Times Magazine, Remote New Media, Hotshoe Magazine, and TAG Creative and all the photographers and the photographic industry to become one of the most “hotly” contested photographic Awards of current times.

This year we are joined by new sponsors, F22/State Magazine, Hungry Eye, and The Strand Gallery.

The Terry O’Neill Award/TAG is aimed at finding and promoting new talent, creating a platform for upcoming photographers. The Terry O’Neill/TAG Award is unique, as it is based around the series or the narrative; photographers must enter a minimum of 3 pictures a maximum of 6. The categories are open, so photographers can enter fine art, photo-journalism, still-life, portratiture, landscape, wildlife, fashion, in order that they can submit their current photographic practice. The entrance fee is £5 per picture for students and £7 per picture for non-students.

The judges are looking for the strongest series of work and for the strongest narrative

1ST PRIZE £3000 / 2ND PRIZE£1000 / 3RD PRIZE £500

A selection of the top ten photographers’ work will also be published in a special feature in The Sunday Times magazine

Ten Photographers will be shortlisted for the Award and exhibited at The Strand Gallery in London, in January.

Peter Dench’s England Uncensored will launch at the White Cloth Gallery today (19 July 2012), alongside work from the ‘Great British Public’ as part of the gallery’s Best of British summer season. The exhibition includes the award winning photographers, Simon Roberts and Zed Nelson.

England Uncensored is a warts-and-all account of real England by celebrated photojournalist, Peter Dench. During a summer of British celebrations, the exhibition provides a geographical and socially unrestricted tour around England, covering themes of love, ethnicity, style, gastronomy and of course the weather.

Peter Dench’s England Uncensored

From the book of the same name, England Uncensored takes us from traditional Morris dancing at the annual Hobby Horse Festival in Oxfordshire to some of England’s most unusual events such as the War and Peace show in Kent – which gives civilians a license to dress up as Nazi soldiers and drive around in military vehicles.

Twelve years in the making, the exhibition is not only a laugh-out-loud romp through this often badly behaved nation – it also provides an underlying social commentary with the power to both amuse and shock all at the same time.

In line with Dench’s exhibition, the White Cloth Gallery will be hosting a selection of work from the Great British Public, recently shown at the London Festival of Photography, as part of its Best of British summer season. White Cloth Gallery’s ticketed launch event on the 19th of July is being held in support of Leeds based charity, St. Gemma’s Hospice, and all proceeds from the night will be donated to the charity.
