For those of you who read this blog before I moved to San Francisco, you may remember my BFF Lindy. For those who are new- she wrote compelling posts such as "Tips from a Professional Wedding Guest," and really shined in a number of outfit posts [like this, this, and this]. Many of you may have frantically been wondering where she went and if we were still BFFs [we are]. She was visiting a few weeks ago, and was obviously subjected to an outfit post... in which, as usual, she really shined. She also wanted to say hello, so without further adieu... here's Lindy:

For the few of you who may have been wondering what the heck happened to me when Kelli up and left me for San Francisco, here is a brief update about what I've been up to these past 10 months: Instead of staying in Idaho, and crying over my baked potato, I took the opportunity to follow my own heart to Seattle. It has been a smooth transition with the exception of one area- getting dressed every morning! Never did I realize how easy I had it in Boise! I now spend a hefty amount of time commuting on public transportation and walking meaning my fashion choices actually have to serve a function as well looking good. As most of you know, Seattle is a rather wet and cold city- therefore most days I head out the door looking more prepared for an episode of Deadliest Catch than anything. However it's worth it to arrive to work warm and dry.

The other difficult adjustment has been not having Kelli to meet me in the kitchen every morning with her exclaiming “oh great outfit!” I now live with two boys and therefore instead of waking up to compliments, I find myself explaining that the pattern of my dress is actually referred to as hound’s-tooth over morning my coffee.

Luckily, San Francisco is only a short plane ride away giving Kelli and me the chance to still have brunch filled weekends on occasion! I was lucky to be in town a couple of weekends ago for a friend’s wedding and the weather could not have been more perfect! We spent the day doing two of our favorite past times... eating and laying in the park. It was a great time that I hope to repeat again soon!

One thing I really love about San Francisco is that it sort of feels like summer camp all the time. There are tons of activities always going on- like festivals and races and dance parties. Everyone knows someone who is basically a cool arts & crafts counselor- and they're willing to teach you how to screen print or make flower crowns or letterpress. If dancing is your thing, you can head to Golden Gate Park and take free classes every Sunday. Do you like riding bikes? They've made an entire course just for you. There is also such a sense of community, like everyone who lives here is in this together. Whenever one of our sports teams is doing well- you know it. In fact, you can't escape it. The entire city is decked out in team colors, BBQing in front of their apartment buildings, entirely ignoring the lack of a front yard. You can't help but be swept up into the hype; all of the sudden you have the Giants roster memorized- including where they like to drink on weekends.

The best part about living in [Camp] San Francisco is that no one ever takes a beautiful day for granted. When I lived in Boise, you went outside or you didn't- there was no guilt attached. Here... Karl the Fog takes a 3 day weekend and the entire city goes nuts. You cannot sit inside your apartment on a nice day or it will haunt you for weeks. On this day, it was 75 degrees and we were headed to the park. In my tote, you'd find a bottle of champagne and plastic cups. We sprawled out on a huge blanket, listened to our favorite songs, and did nothing but laugh and enjoy the warmth. And, for the sake of this originally being a fashion post, this is what I wore.

Rue Does the Pacific Northwest

This was especially fun for me to work on since I grew up in Boise and spent much of my childhood visiting Portland, Seattle, and everywhere in between. Here we have another edition of THIS or THAT. I've been a fan of camo jeans for awhile, but have been afraid to try the trend myself. This pair by Rag & Bone is a little bit understated- making them feel like a safer bet. All I'm saying is I don't want to be dressed like Buster from Arrested Development.

SO, I leave it to you as a poll- which way would you wear camo skinnies? Casual with brights, or with a hint of drama for a night out? All I know... is that I'm personally torn and I want to wear BOTH outfits immediately.

Coachella Recap

So this is awkward. I said I was going to Coachella, and then I never blogged again. I really hope no one thought I died at Coachella. I definitely didn't die, I just came back really tired.

On the final night of Coachella, there was a dust storm. I was congested for a week [and sneezing desert dust], then came down with a full on head cold that knocked me into bed-rest, then the stomach flu. So here I am like 10 years later giving you my irrelevant Coachella recap. However, I made these cute little collages on the flight home and would be so sad if I never shared them. As many of you know, I went with Lacoste Home on behalf of Rue Magazine. Here's what happened:

1. A bunch of cute gators ready to party. // 2. Sunset at the festival. // 3. Alexa Chung DJing [and is SO PRETTY IN PERSON I literally cannot even handle it].

4. Oh, just hanging out with my BFF Brad Goreski, NO BIG DEAL. // 5. Lounging in the shade. // 6. Meeting my favorite gal ever [pinch me moment], the one and only Man Repeller.

7. Danny Masterson aka DJ Mom Jeans. // 8. Elijah Wood... or is it Tim?? [hint: it's Elijah] // 9. Saying farewell to the final night.

The festival itself was magical. Band of Horses was the best live act I've seen in awhile, and I fulfilled a lifelong dream of seeing The Postal Service. Of course- I also have to give credit to the star of my Spotify playlist, Father John Misty, for putting on an INCREDIBLE performance as usual.

Lastly, I couldn't leave you without a few outfit shots. Here is what I wore:

If ever there was a weekend to follow me on Instagram or Twitter, this would be it. I'm en route to Coachella to attend not only the festival, but the Lacoste L!ve Pool Party as well. Hello, fun! Will I look half as good as Miss Bosworth? No. Will it be the best weekend ever? Probably. Am I going to be completely exhausted on Monday? Absolutely.

I don't necessarily consider San Francisco a "sandal friendly environment." Ahem... you never know what you might step in. Just being honest! But seriously, YUCK. However, the temperatures are warming up and I can't help but go back to my summer-girl roots. A fresh pedicure + new sandals is the perfect way to welcome the sunshine back to the city. I rounded up a few of my favorites from Piperlime and I must say- I'm seeing a trend. Did I choose 6 of the exact same sandal?? Maybe- but at least I clearly know what I like. Paired with jean shorts, a fun maxi-dress, or cuffed jeans- I could easily add all 6 to my closet and the woes of winter would be long gone.

Sometimes I feel guilty that my style is SO simple. But then I stop feeling guilty, and I get dressed for the day. Jeans, a tee, and a corresponding scarf + flats. No one can accuse you of trying too hard and you are comfortable all day. Sigh, one day I'll stop being a little old lady and start compromising comfort to dress better.

These flats are my new "fake heels." As many of you know, I tend to stay away from heels. Not to find myself underdressed- I'm building a small collection of fancy flats. The only problem with these is the material- not ideal for springtime showers AKA flash floods. Otherwise, it's total love.

This weekend, I had the pleasure of representing Rue Magazine at an amazing 3 day event here in the city. We are working with an exciting new company, Joy and Revelry, and I can't wait to share details. In the meantime, I thought it would be fun to show you all the Instagram snaps from the weekend. We were at a gorgeous house in Lafayette, CA. Each designer [or in my case, editor] styled three rooms using Joy and Revelry's unique products. There also was a little bit of a video interview... so I hope you're all prepared for that. Yikes!! All in all- it was a great weekend, I met lots of new friends, and I can't wait to show you Rue's finished product.

I bought these boots MONTHS ago after a particularly rainy weekend in the city. They arrived the next day [thank you, Zappos overnight shipping], ready to go jump in puddles and stomp through mud. And then it never rained again. For like ever. Talk about a tragedy!! Seriously though, my heart was broken.

Now, a few mornings came and went in which we woke up to rain. But by lunch time?? Sunny as can be! Never did I EVER think I would find myself annoyed with beautiful California weather. NEVER! So, you better believe I was counting my lucky stars on Sunday morning when San Francisco was the victim of a monsoon. The Hunters finally made their grand debut! I love them. They were absolutely worth the wait.

Also, I have a new obsession- this bracelet. I am over clunky bangles; this one is a nice burst of sparkle in just the right size.

Beauty Boost.

I recently stumbled upon these images by David Slijper while doing research for Rue's Beauty Beat. I am a total beauty product junkie- but rarely experiment with new looks on my own face. Every day is the same: foundation, bronzer + blush, mascara, and lip gloss. If I'm going out... I just add a lot of eyeliner and end up looking like Megan Fox circa 2003. Only the bad makeup part... I sadly don't get her perfectly constructed face. Whatever. When I saw these gorgeous pics, I was immediately motivated to step out of my comfort zone and try a more colorful look this spring.

The lip colors are perfection, and while the yellow and blue eyeshadow may not suit my skin tone... I can create a modified version by incorporating it on a smaller scale. A total makeover with a few strokes of a brush- genius.

I don't know how the weather is where you are, but it has been SO WARM here. My leggies are finally meeting the light of day again. Last weekend, my best friend Tina was visiting. It was so fun showing her all of our favorite places and I was pretty thrilled that the weather cooperated.

On this day, we took a ferry to Sausalito and I could hardly wait to bust out the boyfriend shorts. Of course, living in San Francisco... I may never enjoy blistering heat again. I love nothing more than when simple, classic pieces come together to make the perfect outfit. This sweater [scored on super clearance via Piperlime] has quickly become my favorite got-to-go item. You know, "I really have GOT TO GO but I have nothing to wear!!" It seems to work for every occasion. Truth be told, it looks much better with my suede burgundy flats, but on this occasion we were headed to a bar and Tim scolded me for even THINKING of wearing suede shoes to a bar. Sneakers it was.

My necklace is from Sweet & Spark, this AMAZING new jewelry company you need to know about. The founder, Jillian, scours flea markets & estate sales coast to coast to find the best vintage jewelry available. She puts it up on her adorable website, and offers free shipping. While I love going yard sale-ing as much as the next girl.. I really have grown fond of this method. I can stay in my pajammers with a cup of coffee and pick out vintage pieces from home. Genius. Girls, you'll be glad I told you about this now because I'm fairly certain Sweet & Spark is the next big thing.

In other recent news- 2 nights ago... I treated myself to a pint of Ben & Jerry's. And I left it in my purse until dinner time last night. So, there's that. You know in case you were worried things were going TOO WELL over here. SIGH... looking forward to Friday much?!

In San Francisco, it seems like you can't go anywhere without a huge carryall. [remember this post??] I feel like I'm lugging my life everywhere I go; like I've turned into some sort of crazy bag lady with 2 books and a baggie of carrots in my purse. To remedy that, I've recently started adding more clutches into my routine. At night time- all I need is my phone, credit card & ID, and some lip gloss- so I'm bagging the huge totes and reaching for a clutch instead. I've found a ton of inspiration on Pinterest [above], and rounded up the top 6 on my wish list:

I love when a bag has a lot of textures- it makes it so much more interesting and memorable. Plus, with print-mixing still making huge waves this season, you don't have to worry about a clutch clashing with your outfit. If anything, it will totally enhance it. Which one is your favorite??

If you've seen my apartment, it is no secret that I'm a huge fan of color. I love decorating my home with bright, vibrant hues to create a light and airy space. But when it comes to my closet, more and more I find myself reaching for all black everything. It is so classic and refined, but also the easiest option.

Over the past few weeks, we've been working away on the new issue of Rue Magazine- which just so happens to be our first ever COLOR ISSUE! Needless to say, color has been on my mind in a major way, and all black everything was no longer an option. This weekend, I went for a bright cobalt blue [which IS my favorite color to wear] and knew it'd be perfect to debut on issue release day.

Wearing color can be tricky, and it is important to know which colors flatter you best. Colors like dark yellows and purples really wash me out and make me look ill. Bright, cobalt blue works well with my hair and my eyes... yet you'll obviously have to take my word for it, as I refused to take my sunglasses off for these photos. But I PROMISE, wearing this color makes my eyes look super blue and awesome. Maybe awesome is an overstatement, but definitely super blue. Tell me- what are your favorite [and least favorite!!] colors to wear?

What a Weekend.

Happy Monday! Turns out, I didn't spend the entire weekend asleep.. phew. Here's what I was up to instead:

Started the weekend early with some of my fav SF bloggers- Kim, Sarah, Melissa, Adelle, and Lindsay.

Fell in love with this new a-thread bracelet. I decided I'm over clanky bracelets, so this is a nice replacement. :)

I went all matchy-matchy at brunch. Full outfit post coming tomorrow! On a side note, I think we can all agree that mimosa has WAY TOO MUCH PULP.

You guys. I don't know what it was, but this week totally did me in. I'm SO exhausted and brain dead and done. Done-zo-tron. After my morning meetings, I am getting back into my pajamas and likely staying in them until Monday.

While that isn't entirely true, I do hope my weekend includes a Holly Golightly-esque sleep mask and some snuggle time with the cats. And what I really mean is that I want to sleep until 1pm on Saturday. Just joking, that's absurd. I meant to say I want to sleep until FOUR pm.

Of course, I wouldn't lead you into the weekend without some sort of entertainment...

Jay Jeffers & the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe

Remember a few weeks ago when I was in Lake Tahoe for Rue? I am so glad to finally share the story I was working on! The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe recently put 23 luxury penthouses on the market; two of which were designed by Jay Jeffers. Not only was I able to experience all of the luxuries that the Ritz has to offer [which was heaven], but also tour the Jay Jeffers penthouses. They were beyond incredible. Here are a few photos:

Jay really redefined the definition of "mountain lodge." With mixed textures, unexpected wallpapers, and maybe the most amazing light fixtures I've ever seen... I would literally move in in a heartbeat.

The duo behind the brand, Danielle and Jodie Snyder, grew up in Jacksonville, FL. Their passion for jewelry began at a young age and quickly exploded into a worldwide sensation. UM, Beyonce is a customer. Enough said.
