Jake Aitcheson Chairs Helmets on Kids Campaign

Lerners personal injury lawyer, Jake Aitcheson, is Chair of this year's Helmets on Kids campaign. Helmets on Kids is a community partnership started by the Brain Injury Association of London & Region along with the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association in 2002. Since its first event, held in London, Ontario, this initiative has distributed more than 15,000 helmets to students. This year's kick off event will be held June 18th at FD Roosevelt Public School.

Duty of care for rescuers (by Nigel Gilby and William Simpson)

Jennifer Maguire reacted instinctively: she stopped her car abruptly in the midst of a winter storm and went into a ditch to help free a mother and infant from their overturned van. Three other good Samaritans also stopped to help in the same way Jennifer did The mother and child were rescued from their vehicle jointly by the four rescuers. A police officer arrived at the scene. The mother and infant were seated in the back of the police cruiser so as to have shelter from the weather outside. Then tragedy ensued.

The Peer Support Program assists people who are experiencing the impact of spinal cord injury in their lives by complementing professional services provided in acute hospitals, rehabilitation centres and community based health and social service agencies. Trained Peer Support volunteers are people who have experienced a spinal cord injury and family members of persons with a spinal cord injury. By listening, sharing their own experiences and providing practical information, volunteers provide one-to-one support to persons who have sustained an injury and their families.

Lerners has always been a law firm that believes strongly in giving back to the community. This opportunity allows us to once again demonstrate our support for the community and those in need.
