Latest project I was working on for my dear friend in Doha were posters digitally created in Photoshop. They were gifts for teachers and best friends. It was something that I was doing for the first time, but as I am doing a 100 days challenge making surface patterns digitally, it was really enjoyable project.

Group painting and a group exhibition

Last week, my art group had a wonderful idea to meet and paint a big painting together. On the day, the weather was so beautiful, sunny and warm, maybe even too warm and we decided to paint outside. More than ten of us got together and we found a nice spot near Wawel castle under the umbrella of one of the cafe. We painted on the floor a big painting, 1x1,2m big. The painting was finished in about 3 hours and we decided to donate the painting to the IWAK (International Women's Association of Krakow) for the next Christmas Charity Auction.

Here is a glimpse how it was.

On 2nd and 3rd there was an art festival in Osijek, Croatia called ReArt. During the festival, there was many things happening and one of them was an illustrations exhibition called Never ending story. I participated in this group exhibition with one of my illustration "Girl in a field of daisies" and my younger sister, little nephew and niece went to see the exhibition since I was not in Croatia <3.

Done is better than perfect

Hi my dear friend!

My new resolution is "Done i better than perfect" and yesterday was the 50th of 100 days challenge I am doing with other artists around the globe. Each of us is doing their own thing every day for 100 days and I've decided to make surface pattern designs. It is very hard to make one each day but with the new resolution "Done is better than perfect" it works just fine ;)

Last week I was participating in a small bazaar which I organized for the International Women's Association of Krakow. It happened during our usual coffee morning with 10 creative members doing arts and crafts. It was charitable event and 10% of each sale went to the association's charity fond.

Hi my dear friend,

It's been a month since I joined the Make Art That Sells students and alumni in a challenge of making something every day for 100 days. I've decided to make patterns in different techniques. So far I am doing them digitally because it is much faster when you need to make one each day. They are just a quick drawing and than translated and finished in photoshop. I also use Adobe capture to make a new pattern from the existing in just a second.

Personalized children's book

Hi my friend,

it has been awhile since my last post. I have been working on my new website, it is almost done and I will launch it really soon but until than this blog will still be active.

These past few months were very hectic, emotional and busy. We moved to a new apartment this year because of the burglary in our old apartment we were renting. Some of my precious things I got from both of my late grandmothers were stolen which makes me very sad. But life goes on and we need to focus on positive things.

After all those things were over I started working on a great project for a girl who has lived in 5 different counties. I painted 6 small paintings for her, each presenting one city she had lived in. Than I asked her mom to write stories about each city and I designed her a small book.

I also made few toys and a cloud pillow with her favorite pets for her.

Christmas gift for a girl

Christmas is just a few days away... people are thinking about their loved ones, what to buy or make for them as a gift to thank them for being nice to them. Couple of years back my family decided to stop buying gifts so we can enjoy more for being together and not feeling bad if we didn't buy the right gift or we didn't spend enough money on the gift or we spent too much money on gifts... it makes us then sad and uncomfortable...
But little ones are different, my nephew and niece, my babies. For this year, I had so many commissions so I've managed to make only a gift for my niece, my nephew will get something special but not made by me ;)

I bought her a doll pram from Polish company called Bajo and I made a bed linen which I than hand painted. I sent a photo to my friend Paula from Doha and she suggested to personalized the pram as well. Paula has two daughters, always searching for gifts for them and she is full of amazing ideas. Thank you Paula for this advice!!!

Personalized gifts for special occasions

I am really blessed and have a privilege for being asked to create something special and unique for gifts. Usually they are gifts for a newborn, kid's birthday or some special holiday.

Latest projects I was working on were hand painted baby bodysuit and bunting which are going to be used during the photo shooting for a baby boy's 1st birthday.

And these personalized cloud cuddle pillows are specially made for two girls from Doha.

I am working on few projects at the moment, all very fresh and exciting! Can't wait to share them with you!!!

One of my favorite thing is when clients ask me to make something for newborns. I love creating something cute and gentle. Sindy asked me to paint baby bodysuits for 3 arriving babies and they are planing to take a photo for Christmas with babies wearing them. Can't wait to see those photos.

I have to admit I am a bit disorganized and I think the reason why is that I am all the time traveling. After that I need couple of days to settle down and get in a creative mood again. My last short trip was from 8th - 11th September, we went to our dear friends wedding to Cyprus. The celebration was in a small village on the hill called Lofou where we were also accommodated in a beautiful traditional guest house Apokryfo. We had the best 4 days there surrounded by friends and couple's families.

I am back, baby!

I am back from my long vacation and have already started working on commissions. My vacation started with the road trip in California. We traveled from Cracow to San Jose and than San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Santa Barbara and LA. We took Highway 1 from SF to LA and that was amazing, the view is so beautiful. We made few stops to see it better, one was at Ano Nuevo State Park where we saw elephant seals chilling on the beach.

All the cities we saw were special and nice but our trip was too short for fully experiencing California so we need to come back ;)

Second part of our vacation was in Croatia where we spent a week in our town Zagreb and than about 10 days on island Murter. Few days before we left the island we went on a little boat trip to Kornati, that made my vacation magical!

Hi my dear friend!

It was so busy these days over at my studio. I left a big mess which I need to clean now because I am closing the studio for a long holiday season. I know I won't be able to just lay down and do nothing but with lots of traveling I probably won't be able to do much. That is why I had to finish a lot of personalized commissions and I am so happy with all of them.

Fifth year was a year of changes. After 4,5 years of life in the desert in Qatar, I moved together with my husband to Europe. It was not an easy decision but we are happy about it.

Moving to a completely new city, Cracow in Poland at the end of August 2015 where I don't know anybody or anything was a bit stressful. First few months I was pretty sad: no more creative friends, no more markets to attend, no more regular customers. Then little by little I started knowing the city, meeting new people, found some creative people, joined the International Women Association Krakow... started getting orders from their members, also from some of my regular customers who don't care where I am or where I am shipping from :D just care that I am still available to make something unique for them :D bless them!!!

Highlights of the fifth year

In November I made and donated a painting I called "Let's make the world a better place" to the International Women Association (IWAK) for auction and all funds went to "Przedzkole specjalne Nr.100" located in Nowa Huta (it is a special institution dedicated in supporting the development of children with special educational needs -www.wboxi.com/site/przedszkole100.pl

Through IWAK I found out about weekly fashion workshops at Slow Fashion Cafe where I now learn how to make clothes for myself. I also use their sewing machines to work on my own projects like toys and pillows. It was where I met Tamara and we are now making customized hand painted clothes together. She is designing and sewing clothes for kids and women and I am painting them :D

Around Christmas time I participated in 2 markets together with two of my local friends. I presented special Christmas collection of paintings, cards, bookmarks and gift tags and a few hand painted toys. I liked the one called K rakow LAL and would like to participate in it again because it is only for companies who make products for kids so people who come to visit are looking for products for their little ones.

In March I joined the Make Art That Sells Bootcamp for artists 2016 which ends in July. I am trying to keep up with the assignments but with lots of traveling and custom orders I am falling behind. Great thing is that I have all the pdf's for the assignments so I can do them later but pity my work won't be in their monthly online gallery.

On 19th May 2016 I organized a little Spring exhibition with 13 members of the International Women Association Krakow at Sheraton Hotel which was a great success and I am hoping for more events like this. Exhibition was open for IWAK members only.

As I mentioned before, this year included lots of traveling. New Year celebration in New York as well as lots of trips to Croatia, since we are just 9 hours drive from home and our families.

Hand painted white cocktail dress

Hi my dear friend!

I want to share with you my latest project a hand painted white cocktail dress. The dress was made by Tamara Matvisin in Cracow and I painted it with colors for fabric. I also used beads as well as golden thread for some of the details on the dress.
It is so great I have met Tamara, she is so talented and willing to design and make all the things my customers are asking for. They just send me the measurements and with a little bit of magic Tamara turns fabrics into a dresses or skirts... ready for me to paint them. So I don't need to look for clothes and buy them in shops, everything is unique, tailored and made by custom order.

Hand painted keepsakes

Hi my dear friend!

I have to admit last two weeks I had a real fun creating unique pieces for my brilliant customers. I've made more of my hand painted toys and couple of hand painted t-shirts. All of them are going to be presents, toys for arriving babies and t-shirts are wedding favors for kids, how nice! Each of them is one of a kind and totally personalized with words or names.

I have already introduced you little elephant Bibi in my last post and these are puppy Tootie and bear Rony. Puppy Tootie is a cutie with a lovely headband which can be taken off and a bear Rony has a cute little baseball hat and a pompom tail.

Some of the photos of the newest hand painted t-shirts have been already posted on my Instagram and Facebook page and a few people were asking for tutorial on how to paint on clothes.

I use special colors for fabrics which after they dry need to be fixed with the iron so that they don't wash off. One trick I use is also that I first draw on the clothes the image I want to paint with a special marker which evaporates after a while or can be removed with a wet piece of cloth. I sometimes use wet Q-tips for small area I want to clean. After I have the drawing, I use different sizes of brushes I usually use for painting with acrylics on canvas and those special colors for fabrics. My favorite brand so far has been Javana but I use other brands I find in local art supplies shops too. I will for sure make that tutorial and post it everywhere to encourage you to try it :D

Exciting project: a hand painted skirt

Hi my dear friend,

My clients are so inspiring and innovative and I love when they challenge me to do new things.
These last couple of days I was working on a very exciting project, I was painting on a black skirt for the first time. The skirt was made here in Krakow by talented Tamara Matvisin so it was a collaborative work :D
For dark fabrics there are special opak colors to cover the darkness. I had so much fun because although I had in mind what I want to paint (it was an image I created last year for one of the Make Art That Sells Bootcamp assignments) I was changing it on spot and adding more details and things my client had asked for. Also it was a challenge to paint it because it had those two layers of tule on top. I used one of my new canvases and put it under the skirt so that I have a nice surface to paint on and I put cellophane in between so I don't destroy my new canvas.
So here it is!

My "Japanese girl" bookmark was chosen by Uppercase magazine to be inserted in their issue #29 for April-June 2016. I couldn't be more proud and happy :D

Each bookmark has two sides and mine is paired with a gorgeous illustration by Marie Gardeski. I got my Uppercase magazine the other day and I can say it is brilliant and so inspiring. Lots of beautiful work to look at.

I have to admit I was really bad and was not in the mood of writing my usual Wednesday's posts. I was even considering to stop with this blog and make a static web site... and then... this email arrived to my mailbox yesterday:

So, no I am not deleting this blog, I am not making a static web site, I am keeping this blog but will consider to do some changes so I can include my portfolio and display my products a bit better.

I was not active for a really long time so would like to share some of the projects I was working on during this long period.

I was really honored when a girl from a community I was leading while living in Doha - QatART, asked me to create a logo for her small business. She wanted to have an illustration of an animal meerkat and to be cheerful and colorful. So I started with some sketches and once she decided on a sketch and a color palette I made an illustration and hand calligraphy for her logo. She also asked me to design her business cards. So here is my process, hope you will enjoy it :)

Another project were two personalized hand painted cloud pillows, which are great as a decor in a kids rooms.

I couldn't resist to make a little painting for my niece's first birthday, and I've also created a birthday card with that illustration and her older brother (4yo) wrote her name on a piece of paper which I turned into vector and added to the card. After posting the illustration on my social media I was asked to do a toy so I made a toy as well and I love it, I love all about this little unicorn Luci :D

New hand painted cuddle pillow

Hi my friend!

Lots of things are happening in my studio. I am working on several projects including a logo design, a wedding invitation design and a memory album design. I am also working on a new task for the Fritzi Flock community - an illustration on a theme "The early bird catches the worm". Here is my sketch and I am planing to make the painting on canvas with acrylics.

Last week I finished another project - a hand painted cloud cuddle pillow for little Lara and thanks to the Slow Fashion Cafe in Krakow where I go to sew my pillows I managed to finish it on time. I really enjoy going there as the IWAK (International Women Association) Slow Fashion Design Group is meeting there every Tuesday so we can chat and exchange ideas and see what others are working on.

TWO SHOWS

Last weekend I was participating in two shows together with two amazing artisans from Cracow Ewa of Blue Dot and Iza of Nacotopocoto. On Saturday at kids design market called Krakow ŁAŁ at FORUM Przestrzenie and on Sunday at Art&Food Bazar at Pauza in Garden. It was an interesting experience to hear and see the reactions at my work, to meet my potential clients and to interact with other vendors. I had a lovely time at both shows.

Hello!
I had a very productive two weeks and still continuing to work without stopping. It makes me so happy and my days are too short for everything I would like to do and make!!!

Can't wait to show you my latest illustrations I made for my Christmas/Holiday collection. I know I am a bit late and that makes me nervous but hopefully this week everything will be ready and then next week I am participating in an Art and Food Bazaar where I am going to show my work for the first time to Cracow audience :D I am planing to make a collection which will include cards, prints and gift tags.

My client sent me this photo of a bear which is made of her daughter's first clothes including my hand painted body suit I've painted specially for her. The bear is made by Krpancek.

Hello my friend!

I am so happy you came to see what is new with me :D
As I wrote in my previous post, things are turning better and my life in Cracow is becoming easier.
It is thanks to people, lovely women from all around the world. Life of an expat is always hard in the beginning and we need support. So, now I have local friends who are also artists and who are very helpful. Because of them I will be able to showcase my work at two markets next month for which I am preparing some Christmas/Holidays illustrations. Illustrations are still in progress but I want to share few photos with you :D and if you have any comment or idea please share them with me in a comment section bellow this post or write me an email... what ever works for you the best!

Kind words which made my heart melt

I would like to say big huge thank you once again to all my "clients" or better to say friends for the kind and warm words they wrote about my work. They made my heart melt and jump around from all the happiness. It really means a lot, a lot, a lot so I have a big motivation to continue working on my artworks.

I have to admit that the time started to fly and I have so many ideas and few opportunities that came up but they are still just in the air so I don't want to say anything. I also met few great creatives from Krakow and we will try to meet once a week to brainstorm the ideas and motivate each other. How great is that!? I was dreaming about something like this because I had it while I lived in Doha and I missed being surrounded with likeminded people. I also started going to yoga classes in my neighborhood. Things are slowly falling into the place and I am starting to being more relaxed with my new life here.

I am working on ideas for my new edition of Christmas/Holidays paintings and this is a sneak peak :D
