Hello dear friends,
It has been awhile! Hope you have all been well. I have been taking a summer vacation since launching Modern Originals, but I am getting ready to return with new posts and lots of news. Just wanted to let you know about a bit of a change. I will no longer be posting to this site for Pic of the Day. In fact, I have a new website up and will be posting to the Pic of the Day section there from now on. So head over to lesliewilliamson.com and I'll get to posting in a few days. June 21/Los Angeles/Modern Originals booksignings and slideshow

Hey there friends! Just wanted to let you all know about a couple of events coming up in the Los Angeles area this coming Saturday, June 21.
At 2pm I will be signing books the Dwell bookstore by Skylight Books at the Dwell on Design Conference in Downtown LA.
At 7pm I will be over on the west side for a lovely evening book signing and slideshow at General Store in Venice (1801 Lincoln Blvd x Superba). I expect the slideshow will be around 7:45ish. Hope to see you at one of these events!

Hello dear friends! Just wanted to announce that I am doing a book signing and slideshow this Thursday, June 5th, at Heath Ceramics in San Francisco (18th street tile factory. 6h30 to 9pm).
So happy to be home and am planning a special slideshow for my hometown crowd. Please come by, see the slideshow with lots of special hometown tidbits and get your book signed! Yes, you can bring your copy of Handcrafted Modern to be signed. (I'd be happy to!) and pick up your copy of "Modern Orignals: At Home with European Midcentury Designers". They are a happy duo.

Modern Originals Booksigning NYC/the Future Perfect/ Sunday, May 18th/11am

Hello friends! I have just returned to the US after a month of work and book events in Europe and wanted to make sure to share my first Modern Originals book event in the USA!
This Sunday at the Future Perfect in NYC, I will be signing my book and doing a short slideshow as part of TFP's Design Brunch. The address is 55 Great Jones Street and it begins at 11am.
TFP has curated a beautiful installation for NY Design Week of furniture sculpture, art and lighting and I am honored to be among the wonderful designers and artists who have work included. So yes, there are a few of my rare limited edition prints hanging as well - my never seen abstractions. In addition the work of some of my favorite artists are also on view - like Maria Moyer, Ryosuke Yazaki, and Lindsey Adelman.
It will be a feast for the eyes!!! Do come out and say hello this Sunday. I'd love to see you! xx

I've been editing through so many images lately, preparing my new website. It is a bit mind boggling how many images are never seen from a shoot. The "hero" images emerge and they are the ones that speak for the whole experience. And yet there are little moments like this one from my time at Jesse Schlesinger's studio when he was at the Headlands Center for the Arts. Because it was not chosen for the People Watching post for the NYTimes, it fell out of my mind. Editing through all these images feels like meeting friends I haven't seen in a long while. It makes me happy.

I am a sucker for a good chalkboard. This one in is the the private school that Frank Lloyd Wright built in Tokyo - the Jiyu Gakuen Myonichikan. I visited when I was in Tokyo this past November. I wasn't there long but I did shoot a bit and I plan do a proper post on it soon. Until then, lets dream about chalk, erasers, chalk dust and all those other obsolete classroom necessities of the past...

I just posted a couple of limited edition print sets for my Kickstarter supporters today. I love them so much I had to share them here too. And I guess this also qualifies as a tiny sneak preview to Modern Originals which comes out in April. These look so pretty when printed at their larger, 16x20" size...

Just a heads up that I have the honor of being a Pin Pal for Heath Ceramics this week. What is a Pin Pal you ask? Well a guest pinner on Pinterest, of course! Maybe I haven't mentioned this much but I LOVE Pinterest. In fact, my breaks from writing Modern Originals usually consisted of a Pinning session of anything unrelated to my book - mainly quotes. But I digress…this week, in honor of the Heath10 celebration, I have been asked to pin my inspirations to a special guest pinboard. So check out my Pinboard here.
