LPLI warned that in many areas we were already running short of minerals and food stocks and approaching a time when the pressure for these diminished resources would cause life-threatening difficulties for all humans,

It also warned that after-effects of pollution upon our air, food, water and climate would reach levels that were lethal to human life inside of 100 years, and that our own Government was suppressing accurate reporting of these events, as well as ignoring the significance of them.

Less Idiots further warned that the totalitarian government of China was being unsuccessfully appeased and controlled in a fashion similar to how Nazi Germany was dealt with in the period running up to World war II.

If that were not enough, Less Idiots also warned that both major political parties were deliberately polarizing their bases, and were in fact, catering only to those who financed their election campaigns from the business and special interest lobbies. Less Idiots warned this behavior was entrenching itself while both parties were ignoring the erosion of the school systems, infrastructure, and the job base in this country.

This effort met with lackluster results primarily because the overall message was too lengthy and far too complicated to successfully fit on a bumper sticker. Too many messages, too many warnings, and all provided too far in advance to adequately attenuate the proper levels of fear amongst the voters.

There was one success resulting from the two-year effort. Advertisers were peeled away from YouTube in an effort requiring only one full-time, and one part time staff member. Youtube was forced to sell out early and at a lower price to Google because this small team had succeeded in running away most of the revenue that YouTube was receiving from these advertisers. All of this occurred without any support from the Mass media, most of who remained silent as they too were eyeing the purchase of Youtube at the time.

Less Idiots had repeatedly argued that the old democratic process had been too corrupted to allow for solely using the system to correct all of its problems. It was suggested that boycotts coupled with aggressive voting, and constant contact with elected officials would again allow the regular voter to force needed changes. The minimal resources used to pull advertisers from Youtube confirmed that this method could be employed successfully with other issues.

However, the other fatal flaw in Less Idiots message was a failure to realize the low levels of enthusiasm amongst individual voters for accepting more responsibility in assuring beneficial changes. Most voters would rather cast a vote for a party hoping that those they elect will make the required changes for them.

Personal and individual senses of responsibility are no longer predominant in the average voter’s way of thinking. In stark contrast with the 1900’s even a local community’s problems are viewed as something best handled by anyone other than the voter. For example, rather than limit how many miles they drive, most voters would prefer imposed café standards to any form of self-control.

One of the other flaws in Less Idiots system was a reliance by the author that his readers would actually take the time to do proper research on these problems. It was assumed that most would visit governemnt websites, or seek research performed under peer review rather than just take propaganda straight from a blog or on air personality. If anything, most voters are moving further away from reliable sources because of their perceived view of their own pressing time restraints.

What remains from Less Idiots is a clear outline of the problems that we face in our future, and one possible roadmap to solving them। That and few good stories you can read, when you are not too pressed for time:)

Disclaimer: The author of this site never relied upon any information gathered from Al Gore’s “Inconvenient Truth” and in fact, the author frequently made it quite clear in this blog’s posts that data Gore built his suppositions upon was disturbingly old. The author went one step further and stated that we did not have ten more years before the deadline to “turn the clock back on global warming” hit and that the worst conditions would occur well inside of fifty years.

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-39530006272636413762008-03-19T22:32:00.000-07:002008-12-23T19:40:31.678-08:00The Best Of Less IdiotsHumor

Blogsoft® : Blogging made simple.

Nobody likes a smartass

A mercy killing

Sorority sex and Dan Rather

I want my DVD
(Gisher's own personal favorite essay)

It’s a boy, it’s a girl, no it’s a nerd

Ticketmaster reports problems with Rapture tickets.

Wrong Door Blues

Fresh, clean vaginas assured by Homeland Security

A dish best served old

When Spring came early

No Child left behind

Goodbye to the blogosphere part 1

Commentary

You cannot run away from Ann Coulter

Feeling a little crowded?

The fraud of no child left behind

The Grey Eludes You

Gay marriage redux

Come on, eat the fish

You must be taking drugs

Goodbye to the blogosphere part 3

Goodbye to the blogosphere part 4

Finding the conservative in yourself

The real loveshack

River Dance

Don't light a match

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-7494680580784698652007-08-13T19:28:00.000-07:002008-11-13T02:46:02.006-08:00The infinite power of you<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; This particular flaw stands a more than reasonable chance of being the final nail in the coffin that civilization will find itself buried in.

I wanted someone else to take care of the problem for me.

I pestered and badgered the owners of several other blogs whose voices were already being heard by a fair number of readers. I begged them to do my job for me and the only result of my efforts was a complete and total alienation from my freshly minted relationships with these authors.

Soon enough it dawned on me, that if the goal I had set was attainable at all, it was going to be me that was going to do the heavy lifting. Looking back now, idealism was running slightly amuck through the otherwise highly jaded landscape that is my personality.

So I took on the task that others had wisely avoided, because these people were probably aware of what is obviously one of the prime traits of human beings. These sages of the blog must have known that to ask people to help solve their own problems was the equivalent of speaking a foreign language alone by yourself, in the middle of a herd of sheep, somewhere on a planet far removed from this galaxy.

I used humor and parables, I came at you folks straight up, heck I even used very large type and moving pictures; for goodness sake, I tried everything except graphic violence. Perhaps I should have resorted to something just that extreme because the results I achieved could have been accomplished with a test pattern; an ink blot test might have inspired more involvement out of my fellow humans.

Oh there were a few people who actually got motivated enough to tell me they were ready to do the work but they just needed someone to lead them. Cattle need someone to lead them, sheep need someone to lead them, but these guys eventually wind up at the slaughterhouse.

I wonder where humans will wind up?

All of my talk, all of the blah, blah, blah, and the only fact that matters is each and every one of you (individuals) out there are the only ones that will be able to dig humanity out of the mess we are headed towards now. If each of you do not take the initiative, if you are unwilling to make a sacrifice, if you are unable to find your way to a compromise with those that you disagree with, what we call civilization and quite possibly even the human race will no longer exist.

It is not just the fundamentalists who foolishly believe that the government can and will solve all our problems, even though there is only evidence to the contrary. These people have a lot of friends in this country who think just like them, but who rarely if ever, set foot in a church on Sunday.

You expect this sort of thought from people so poorly educated in history that they will look you straight in the eye and tell you that this country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, but there are folks who stayed awake long enough to get a doctoral degree who honestly expect their congressman to solve all of their troubles. People that are highly aware that none of the founding fathers were munching on Gelfite Fish and that most of these known atheists owned black slaves.

The government is not going to adequately lower your carbon footprint, nor is the government going to limit how many children you decide to produce. Either of these steps would be political suicide for whatever party that seriously attempted to achieve these goals.

You may or may not remember when I emailed all of the presidential candidates back in April and asked each of them what they would ask Americans to do for their country in the event they were elected. Well folks, it is August and not a single one of them responded. They all appear to know well enough not to bite the hand that elects them, by asking the voter to get off their ass. Things really have changed since the Kennedy inauguration; actually it’s you good folks that have changed.

It was decades ago when most of us bolted from the cities and moved into suburbs that were largely built upon viable property used primarily for crops and ranches; you know, places that grew food for all of us. With the coming changes in climate, much of the land Americans live on might have been real damn handy when the cropland we still have left is suffering through a blistering drought or heavy floods. Then again, if most of us were still living in the city, how many would care that much about the price of gas when they were walking to work? Hindsight is indeed lovely, but real visionary thought is far more precious don’t you think?

That said, each one of you lowering your own carbon footprint now would go a long way towards limiting our dependence on foreign oil and minimizing the amount of pollutants we dump into our world, it also might help reduce some of the damage caused by global warming. Restricting the number of babies born would lower the total number of mouths we have to feed in a world where our natural fish stocks are dwindling and severe droughts potentially loom in our future.

Our government will become more involved in the fight against global warming. Unfortunately they will only dance to the tune played by the business lobby, who’s own lobbyists will design a global warming policy that they are entirely comfortable with, but a policy that the average voter will not desire in the least.

I might also point out that it is highly likely that our global warming policy may have to be revamped and accelerated when we discover that the business lobby horribly underestimated the size of the problem. (BIG SURPRISE!) My other guess is that a lot of you will continue to buy gigantic sports utility vehicles, regardless of the costs.

This is what’s going to happen because far too many have let someone else take care of our problems.

You still have a chance to turn things around, but that will require effort from each one of you. To be honest, I expect that only when the water, wind, or fire are knocking at your front door will an adequate number of you become engaged enough to fix your problems. (I think they refer to that as a day late and a dollar short.) If the fire, water and wind are knocking at someone’s door in another suburb besides yours, I am quite sure most people will be happy with the fact they still have access to cable television.

I’d also like to point out that I have not even said a word yet about China.

Please be sure to feed the pets and brush your teeth daily.

Goodnight and good luck.

Our future is in your hands now.

I am writing over here now, have a nice day।

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-3580534035544414812007-08-11T17:09:00.000-07:002008-11-13T02:46:02.410-08:00River Dance<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_VNXrGMdlbMg/Rr5P-BbuGkI/AAAAAAAAAHI/DBnAHU8xJ3k/s320/river.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5097599755185166914" />It’s really just dirt, and it provides no obvious indicators that it is ever going to amount to much more than what its modest name would foreshadow. It sits right next to a river, that appears to wander aimlessly, a river which offers no hint of purpose, and at first glance, a river that would not tend to indicate that it might be capable of creating any sort skirmish as a result of its mere existence.

This river and the dirt around it, and for that matter, the carbon based life-forms that scratch out a life within and around it, are at the very least deceptive. This is especially true for any individual who would approach this place with so many fully formed impressions, but without having the benefit of actual first hand knowledge. You know, anyone who approached this place just as I had chosen to do.

I have walked around for most of my natural life, and felt fairly certain that I had managed to avoid maintaining any prejudices. Standing atop this dirt, I finally realized just how easy it is to deceive one's self, even with the best of all possible intentions. Through sheer (and I truly mean), dumb luck, I wound up in a far better place than had I managed to convince myself that I was heading towards. That my friends is no small miracle, and one that will most likely appear on my final record with an asterisk.

Despite the odds against it, this river managed to create one major controversy. It wound up exacting a considerable toll upon on the lives of people that were oblivious to its existence, as well as those people who chose to ignore or devalue it’s true significance. For me personally, that is a demonstration of extreme power and influence.

Everyone now bows to the river, grudgingly or not, and we are now forced to give the river back much of what we have taken from it over the centuries. Just don’t make the mistake of assuming that we are going through these exertions for the sake of the river; we are doing this primarily for people who have never actually seen this river.

My father chose to expend considerable energy working to protect the environment, and fighting for people who were yet to be born. There was rarely a day that would go by during the weeks and months after my father had passed where someone would not approach me, and at some point during the conversation state,

“ I hope you wind up being at least half the man that your father was.”

With the benefit of the perspective that has now simply fallen into my lap, I beg to differ with these well-wishers who would always seem to come up on the short side of encouragement, and to them I say,

No thank you. I want to be more like this river.

You could pick up the rock, and look at it from a differing angle and say that this scenario was an example of how masterfully self-centered human beings have become, and just how far south our respect for the environment has traveled. While it is entirely true that we appear to task ourselves with protecting our environment only when our own behavior, operating in symbiosis with our environment, creates a threat to our own existence or our “perceived” quality of life, I must respond to those who would correctly make this statement by saying,

I still want to be more like this river.

These days, about the only way you can motivate people adequately enough to consider anything other than their own well being is to instill enough fear in them to make them wary of the results of their interactions with you or their environment. The danger must be imminent or already in progress; you cannot provide most humans an advance warning that they will heed. Looking back over the last two years of writing this blog, it is painfully obvious that I have much to learn from this river, and the conclusion that it is time to move on is now inescapable.

The question of why anyone would wish to save a species that has become so profoundly self-absorbed will probably torment me the rest of my days, but I am slowly learning to live without answers to every possible question.

God how I wish I had been more like this river.

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-36599265886195237602007-08-10T09:50:00.000-07:002008-11-13T02:46:02.594-08:00Getting your house in order<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_VNXrGMdlbMg/RryXshbuGjI/AAAAAAAAAHA/sRD5rx6d6gY/s320/house.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5097115669421234738" />Three months is a long time but it seems as though I have traversed it in just a few seconds. Three months would be an adequate amount of time to put an aging parent in a facility and get their house in order, but the truth is that during the last three months, I have put a lot of houses in order.

You could say the realization that what I attempted to do with this blog was failing miserably, actually sank in long before I finished my work with it, and that propelled a tremendous amount of changes, well beyond just properly taking care of my aging parent. I looked at my own situation, and I realized it would not be such a bright idea to return to the Adirondacks, and attempt to live out my quote, unquote, “golden years”.

There is a very real possibility that a natural force known as the Atlantic conveyor belt will shut down in the coming years, and while the results of that may not be as extreme as a full-blown Ice Age, most of the shacks in the Adirondacks would find their way down the mountains courtesy of the activity of small glaciers. Personally I could not responsibly overlook this possibility, despite my unabashed love for that place.

Moving anywhere below the Mason Dixon line was simply out of the question, and considering that most of the Midwest is a suicidal option of a different sort, my list of available square footage to choose from had diminished down to tiny little metaphorical islands of relative safety, amongst the much larger vicious oceans of climatological upheaval that lie waiting ahead.

When you factor in the strong personal desire to live at a respectable distance from large concentrations of humanoids, the list of potential targets shrank even further. Someone might say, “Yo Gisher, don’t you love your fellow human beings?” The answer to that question would be yes I do, but there is a vast difference between the words of love and like. It is almost identical to a sentiment that I used to express constantly to my children, namely:

“I love who you are, but I do not like what you do.”

Those who have read this blog in the past two years know very well just how intensely I have attacked fundamentalists for attempting to change our value systems through the force of law. My constant attacks on these people do not mean that I approve of our contemporary value systems; the attacks merely mean that I have little or no faith in the manner in which these fundamentalists would like to orchestrate such changes. Basically I had to move to some place were the people were already involved in their community, and where most of them believed that changes in value systems had to come from inside the individual, not from any external application of force. Naturally this means my list shrank even smaller.

Finally however I did find a place, and succeeded in moving our little clan in its entirety to our new stomping grounds. This does not mean that we will not be affected by the results of major climate change, nor does this mean that no matter what happens, we will always be entirely safe. All I have successfully managed to do with this move is lower the odds that are stacked against us.

This may shock you, but I have actually listened to the things I have been trying to tell you people for the last two years. There are an awful lot of preachers that will throw you the word, but they limit the amount of involvement of the word within their own lives. Not this Reverend, as I will be walking the walk too, and the walk goes far beyond just recycling and using less energy.

Now I must sit back and close out the blog Less People Less Idiots, which I will do following only two more posts. The first post will adequately explain for those who are not learning impaired, why I have decided to stop working on LPLI. The second and final post will leave the door open for all of you out there, to do what you may need to do looking forward. I can honestly say that I hope that each and every one of you gets your house in order. You may or may not have much of my “like”, but you do have all of my “love”.

The above rating is what happens when you only read one post on a blog and then pass judgment upon it.

This rating came from this page in my archives.

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-83866475253188552082007-07-17T16:26:00.000-07:002008-11-13T02:46:02.768-08:00The real loveshack<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_VNXrGMdlbMg/Rp1QaUK9HLI/AAAAAAAAAG4/TUQK--egy5g/s200/justhowifoundyou.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5088311567020006578" />It was just a little shack, not even a mother-in-law cottage, just four cement block walls, and barely enough room for two adults and their firstborn son. This shack however was home, and as for me, that little cinderblock toilet, with its peeling paint and dirty, well-worn floors, was also my first home. We were so miserably poor we should have been living in the foothills of West Virginia, but instead our home was right smack in the middle of Hurricane Alley.

Many years passed and our growing family found its way to money and vastly larger quarters, and as enough time passed the charming innocence that our little family possessed when we lived back in that little shack somehow managed to convert itself into excessive decadence. The distance between us grew even though we were still in the same room together.

Roughly about four weeks ago, I stood and stared at that humble little shack in abject amazement. Whoever had recently acquired this decrepit dwelling had pumped a ton of money and time into restoring the shack to its original resplendent glory. The shack had managed to do more than just survive; our little mud hut was thriving.

Despite all of the hurricanes this little house endured through the years, the brutal treatment of tenants, and the harsh hands of time, here it stood, strong and beautiful. Well over 60 years after it was first constructed, our little shack was enjoying its finest hour.

It has taken me several weeks to work up the words to say this to you now. I really wanted to wait until the moment where I could encapsulate all of the events from the prior two months, and put some sort of positive spin into the mix for you. As it appears that I am typing this now, I guess that time has arrived.

The greatest lesson I learned during the entire ordeal was to focus on the promise offered by that little house. Not all houses have to sit and rot without a soul to care for them. I am tremendously grateful that I can look at the house I was born into, as well as the house I have built within, and be mostly proud of what I see. I just got lucky, but I suspect sharp people who work towards a similar goal can achieve the same success that I somehow stumbled my way into. I certainly hope all of you do.

Note: I shall return to writing in about three weeks or less. It is one massive example of just how stupid the American voter has become. If you are following the trend, it’s about to dip well below the horizon.

If you had a precious diamond in a 200 million square foot gallery would you guard it by keeping all of your security focused on the diamond, or would you invest all of your security resources in keeping an eye on the streets surrounding the gallery? If you were the American public you would be watching those streets and alleys like your life depended upon it. Sure it would be easier to surround the diamond and ignore the streets, but this is after all, America.

Here we build fences on the border, thousands of miles of border. I guess no one has ever climbed over a fence or dug under it, or quietly rode across the border in a rental truck. We shove all of our personnel forward to keep their eyes on that border. Actually we are not even doing that yet, but you know, we have big plans to do so! Whenever we get enough of our national guardsmen back from our massive battle against global terrorism in Iraq. (Cough!)

Funny thing, these illegal immigrants are here for the diamond, and for them that means jobs. I wonder what would happen if we devoted just one quarter of the resources needed to guard the border into checking on the contract labor that American business hires? Holy cow, maybe we might catch the illegal immigrants working for American business. Since it is against the law to employ illegal immigrants, we could fine these American companies into the ground and deport the illegal aliens they hired.

The only problem with this scenario would be that it would hurt American business and these people fund our politician’s re-election campaigns. Who would step up to the bat and give our elected officials the money they need to stay in office? Think of how many politicians this would kick out on the street, and gosh darn, we would have to pay unemployment for these poor bastards.

On second thought, let’s wait till our boys get back from Iraq, it will happen soon enough as the republicans cannot win in 2008 if we are not drawing our forces down there. Bush has got to be able to claim that it was his idea to bring the troops home so he can save what is left of his legacy, so we will have enough guardsmen next year to guard at least 300 miles of out border with reasonable accuracy. Heck the insurgents, pardon me, the terrorists can’t kill all our young men in just a few months can they? Remember when Dick Cheney told us two years ago the insurgents were in their last throes? If you can’t trust Dick Cheney, who can you trust? He’s the guy I want kissing all of the babies born to lesbians anyway.

Lets face it, American businesses already suffered enough by sending most of our manufacturing jobs overseas; I mean my God, somebody had to stand there and tell American workers “You’re Fired!” and this must have been tremendously difficult for American business to deliver this news to their valued employees. I know I would not want to do it, even if it drastically pumped up my company’s profits.

Let’s remember shareholders are our most important resource, that and our elected officials. Remember it was those shareholders and politicians that built the tanks and planes we used to defeat Germany in World War II. I am quite sure that these guys will encourage China to build all of the weapons we need if we ever go to war against China. So let’s spend ten times as much and build that fence. God knows we all need cheaper drywall, because most of us do not have adequate jobs in this country anymore, so how can we afford to hire Americans to hang it for us?

Let’s wrap this up now so we can get back to more important issues like arguing about Gay parents (ooops!) marriage and picketing abortion clinics.

Note: Special thanks to the always-accurate Lou Dobbs for his inspiration on immigration. Hey Lou, reckon CNN will hire me now even though I implicated CNN in the YouTube Porn Scandal last fall? I am at least as accurate as you are. I won't even talk about the New York Times, as they know people in the Bush administration.

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com21tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-8890635467060841082007-05-28T15:23:00.000-07:002008-11-13T02:46:03.987-08:00Goodbye to the blogosphere part 4<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_VNXrGMdlbMg/RltWe3pvFpI/AAAAAAAAAGA/Pv2JEIgbYco/s320/writing.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5069740893870691986" />Today I take time to say goodbye to the Omnipotent Poobah, and all of the other good people who practice the dying art of writing. The best writing requires a love for the craft, and a love for the reader. It is impossible to tell a good fictional story without possessing a deep and profound love for the characters you create, even if the character is largely the most vile of creatures.

When writing first originated, it was actually a power that was possessed only by the elite, as a majority of the general population were incapable of both writing and reading. This control was maintained for thousands of years and it is only scarcely little more than one century ago, that writing and reading became widely available to the commoners.

Both writing and reading have been on a steady decline during the last thirty years, and this is a direct result of the proliferation of video technology. A human’s involvement with video imagery, is a far more passive engagement, than reading a book. One does not need an imagination to watch a video, as all details have been fleshed out for you; rather than imagine what something looks like, video shows you. Reading was one of the first interactive art mediums, however video only requires that you keep your eyes and ears open. Rather than achieving some sort of symbiosis with the material, with video, the viewer is little more than a human sponge.

Whereas it took thousands of years for most humans to obtain the ability to write and read, it has taken little less than three decades to begin to turn the tide back around to the point where illiteracy is once again on the rise. Thanks in part to the enabling of the No Child Left Behind Act, our schools no longer place great emphasis on writing and reading, and instead focus entirely on passing multiple-choice tests. A student is only required to be able to read adequately enough to work their way through a federally mandated test.

When these same children arrive at home at the end of the day rarely is there a book awaiting them; most often, it is some form of audiovisual experience. Instead of allowing their imagination to grow, their cerebral cortex is bombarded by countless gigabytes per minute of audiovisual material, effectively turning most of their brains into mush.

Our leaders far more easily control a population that lacks imagination as well as the ability to read and comprehend the written word, than a population where the literacy rate is high. I do not have adequate proof to submit to you that the increasing rate of literacy is a result of some grand design by the powers that be to gain additional control over the populace. There is however, more than adequate evidence that these same leaders are more than willing to take advantage of the current trend.

To give you an idea of just how pervasive this trend is, this blog has received just over 100,000 visitors in little less than one year and nine months. My videos on Google Video, have received over 10 million visitors in less than 10 months. I did not advertise to draw attention to my videos as there was no need to do so; quite simply there is that much traffic seeking audiovisual content. If you do the math, it is obvious that not only are reading and writing on the decline, both disciplines are facing their last gasp. As reading and writing have grown in direct proportion to the advance of civilization, the steady lack of interest in both reading and writing may very well indicate that the decline of civilization is already well under way.

They say that you never know what you had until you have lost it, but with regards to illiteracy, one is not even remotely aware of what they had, and therefore is oblivious to what they have lost.

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-51728676249416796412007-05-28T07:50:00.001-07:002008-11-13T02:46:04.212-08:00More than a paradeMy grandfather gave his all in World War II; he was permanently injured and driven into insanity, and eventually the stress of the war caught up with him and killed him. He fought for his country, and he fought for his constitution, and he reminded me constantly that piece of paper was more than just a piece of paper; it was the foundation that our freedoms were built upon.

His war was legitimate, as if any war could be legitimate, but with his war our country had been attacked. Our troops, who fought and died in Afghanistan, fought and died for a legitimate cause, because our country had been attacked. The war in Vietnam and the war in Iraq never possessed a claim to legitimacy, but this only elevates the contributions of the soldiers who fought and died in these conflicts.

It is never easy to give your life, but to me the greatest valor is found in the loyalty of those men who fought in Vietnam, and those who fight in Iraq today. These men follow orders, and they have taken an oath to do so on the behalf of their country. They are required to execute orders without regard to the validity of the cause that they are undertaking. Over 50,000 men lost their lives in Vietnam, and nearly 3500 men have lost their lives in Iraq.

All of the men and women, who have died in service to their country, are granted today a moment where we pause and remember their contribution. We have been observing this day as long as I have been alive, but now more than ever, we are approaching the point where all of these men may have died in vain. These men made the highest sacrifice, and as long as the rest of us uphold the Constitution that they fought for, we have upheld our part of the bargain.

Unfortunately we are not upholding our part of the bargain. Our Constitution is being attacked by our leaders, and ignored by a majority of the population. Laws have been passed, and decisions have been rendered from the benches, that have effectively begun to remove the protections that the Constitution provides all Americans. On one day the assault comes from the pen of a president, and on the next day the assault comes from the ruling of an appellate court judge.

Many Americans are well aware of these crimes against the Constitution, but yet they stand silent and watch the continuing erosion of our constitutional protections. Many of these same Americans bring their flags and show up at parades on Memorial Day, assuming that they have paid their respects. All of these men who have died in the service of their country deserve more than just a parade. These men deserve a crescendo of American voices speaking out to their leaders, telling them they will not accept the destruction of our Constitution.

All of our soldiers deserve so much more than we give them, but most importantly they deserve the one thing that they themselves are unable to provide. Speak out Americans, speak out for these men who no longer can, and do so before the time comes where you are unable to exercise that right.

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-7965885445334113852007-05-23T14:51:00.000-07:002008-11-13T02:46:04.465-08:00The war on Americans
“I believe I crossed the line, but I didn’t mean to,”...

(Monica Goodling, who was Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' senior counsel and White House liaison)

Gosh darn, poor Monica committed a crime, but did not mean to, and I am crying crocodile tears for her. The next time the police are arresting you, which the way things are going, may be sooner rather than later, try telling the police you didn’t mean to commit the crime. See if that keeps you out of jail, or Guantánamo Bay, whatever your destination.

Fortunately for Monica, she was given immunity from prosecution, so she won’t go to jail for committing a crime. Just in case you did not know, Monica admitted that she had hired judges and attorneys based on political considerations, which if you’re working in the Justice Department, is a clear violation of federal laws.

I took the time yet again from my goodbye series, to write on this matter, because I feel Monica’s testimony finally closes a loop. Without question George Bush, when he ordered the NSA to wiretap Americans without a warrant, not only violated the Constitution, but he also broke the law. There are quite a few people that wanted to look the other way because we were at war with the terrorists. This is not the first time that Americans have lost their minds during wartime. Does anyone remember what happened to the Japanese Americans during World War II?

Then there’s the incident involving Andrew Card and Alberto Gonzales, where both of them attempted to coerce John Ashcroft into signing off on the NSA wiretapping, while Ashcroft was in the hospital for surgery. Both of these men were aware that Ashcroft had legally handed his powers over to his second-in-command. Both were keenly aware that had Ashcroft signed off on the wiretapping, the signature would be invalid, because Ashcroft no longer held the reins of power for the Justice Department. Guess what, they did it anyway. I hate to annoy anyone, but this is conspiracy to commit a crime, and this was obviously requested by George Bush, unless you would like to think that Alberto Gonzales and Andrew Card were running the country themselves when they did this.

As a rule I tend not to point to an administration, and call of them criminals, until there is a clear pattern of criminal behavior. Well folks, with just what I mentioned above, there is a clear pattern of criminal behavior and intent.

Let me remind you that president Richard Milhouse Nixon, was tossed out of office, and had to be granted a pardon to keep him out of jail. All poor little Richard did, was order a wiretap on the DNC, and then he covered it up. That’s it, that’s all he did, and we sent Richard Nixon packing.

George W. Bush ordered a wiretap for all of the American public, and stood there in 2005 and told all of us that in order to wiretap the American public, you still had to get a judge’s order, knowing full well that was not true, knowing full well, he was the one who ordered it. If memory serves, the Republicans went after Clinton for lying about a blowjob. Frankly they should have, because perjury is a crime. I don’t see anyone going after Bush, and I doubt seriously that they ever will.

I just mentioned all of this to annoy you people, and remind you an American is no longer a country where the rule of law applies. I host the rough equivalent of a seminar every week with people of all ages in the real world, and I have spent a fair amount of time working with children trying to educate them about their obligations to the planet and their fellow man. Those who are like mattandriver spend gargantuan amounts of time working with children doing the very same thing. These people nurture young minds when their parents have abandoned the obligation.

In order to turn humanity back from the brink of the abyss, millions of mattandrivers need to be found, and encouraged, but all journeys begin with the first step, and the first step for humanity needs to be the involvement of adults. We need people who can vote right now for changes, and it’s going to be a good eight to ten years before the children Matt and I work with are old enough to vote. We need people who can roll up their sleeves right now and began making the changes that are required in all of our personal lives, that are needed to gain traction against the problems that confront us.

For example, adults need to become more conscious of their need to conserve energy. Instead of buying that Escalade, perhaps you can spend a little less money and purchase a hybrid car. Take the time to recycle your trash instead of throwing out valuable items that can be reused. When you purchase something, think about not only the consequences of your acquisition of that item, but think about the consequences of millions of others purchasing the same item along with you. What effect will that have on the environment?

There are many other areas and many other ways that adults need to become involved in our future, and the above focus on the environment is indeed an important one, but only one of many. Where this post started, which was with the children, is yet another area where we have dropped the ball, and need to focus as much of our energy as possible upon. If you are looking at the complications we are facing from the lack of adequate parenting, it is entirely fair to say that we have as many problems as we have people.

I have truly failed in my endeavor with this blog. The easy part was getting people to admit that we had massive problems in front of us. The hard part was getting them to do something about it. Just last week I had a gun rights activist who allocates tremendous amounts of time, as do other gun rights activists, to protecting the right to bear arms, whimp out on a post of mine. These guys have been so successful, and so well organized, that they recently were able to shoot down legislation that primarily attempted to prevent terrorists from obtaining guns in this country. Despite the obvious example of their success with gun rights, I actually had this gun rights activist tell me, no plea with me, “that one man cannot solve all our problems”.

To the mattandrivers of the world I sincerely apologize, as I was never able to encourage any of these activists, no matter what the cause, to abandon their particular special interest, and come over to the side of fighting for the survival of humanity. Perhaps the mattandrivers of the world are the only hope the future of humanity, and while I fear that we do not have ten years left before we must begin the fight, I thoroughly appreciate the contribution the mattandrivers are making. I can only wonder what the world would look like now if all of us were doing the job twenty years ago, that mattandriver is doing now.

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-61836349655239967642007-05-19T16:59:00.000-07:002008-11-13T02:46:04.599-08:00Holy hypocrites Batman<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_VNXrGMdlbMg/Rk-PkXpvFmI/AAAAAAAAAFo/vsShErCWsFY/s320/popester.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5066425960802227810" />Sorry to interrupt my little “good-byes” series, but the Roman Catholic Church just preempted the series with yet another fine example of just how far up the holy father’s fanny, the Vatican’s head is. Newspaper Avvenire, the Vatican’s own personal mullet wrapper has blasted a BBC documentary that examined what it described as a secret document written in 1962 that set out a procedure for dealing with child sexual abuse within the Church.

Perhaps the BBC’s report was not based on any factual evidence, and it is entirely possible that there never was a secret document written that lay out a procedure for dealing with child sexual abuse perpetrated by priests within the Catholic Church. That said, Catholic priests have committed child abuse, and instead of being handed over to the police, these priests were quietly moved to another diocese where they could further practice their perversions. Precisely because of this behavior, the Catholic Church has paid out millions upon millions of dollars to the victims of these pedophiles who also preach.

If that is not a cover-up, then Alberto Gonzalez is the most honorable Attorney General the United States has ever seen. Fact is, whether or not a secret paper was written in 1962, the Roman Catholic Church has covered up sexual abuse of children. If the Roman Catholic Church has not covered up child sexual abuse, then they are free to sue me for every penny I’ve got. Not only do I doubt that that will ever happen, because the church did in fact sweep all of this under the carpet, but I doubt the church will ever sue me, because that would mean less money in the collection plate, and more money for Vatican lawyers.

I might also add that as a Catholic, I am thoroughly angered by the fact that the Vatican is well aware of the stresses that overpopulation is placing on our resources, but has decided to gamble that technology will save us, therefore they continue to mandate forced breeding without birth control. This dependence on technology to save us is highly irresponsible and callous, and yet another similarity that the Vatican has with the Bush administration.

Finally I would like to remind the Vatican that they get my money every year, and it’s about time they started spending it wisely, as I can stop writing the checks anytime I so desire.

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-19937420966987525412007-05-15T16:55:00.000-07:002008-11-13T02:46:04.765-08:00Goodbye to the blogosphere part 2<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_VNXrGMdlbMg/RkpIhxtthfI/AAAAAAAAAFg/1n86yi0kcGo/s320/nuge.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5064940476049491442" />In my last post, I said goodbye to the conspiracy theorists, and in this one I will say bon voyage to yet another “slightly” paranoid group, gun rights advocates. I actually tried to reach out to this group when I first cranked up this blog, but most of the “Amendment 2” crowd were beyond cautious with me and received me as though I was some sort of anti-gun mole trying to infiltrate their ranks.

Several of these guys (they are mostly guys), seriously requested a picture of yours truly toting my guns as though this were proof I was one of their tribe. I was tempted to ask if they would accept some type of “bullet-cam” photo, where you could watch as the bullet traveled through some little old lady’s head in slow motion, ripping chunks of brain out as it whizzed through her skull.

Needless to say, I was never accepted into this “tightly woven” group, as apparently, I did not smell crazy enough for their personal tastes. This is despite the fact that I own more guns than most of them do, and have always been an ardent supporter of the constitution, which means I support the right to bear arms. I guess they did not like the fact that I also support the right to arm bears. Now that we have cleared that up, here’s my fare thee well to the NRA:

Well folks, I still have my guns, and I have kept them because I am well aware that fundamentalists do not recognize protections afforded to me by the First Amendment, you know, the one that comes before the amendment you have mounted and framed over your bed? On the day when the fundamentalists attempt to drag me out of the house and forcibly baptize me, I am taking a bunch of those damned “Zombies for Jesus” out with me. It is what John Wayne would’ve done.

I do not hunt anymore, as several years ago, I simultaneously shot two squirrels, that to my surprise were engaged in the act of “squirrel lovemaking” and they fell to the ground still solidly coupled. Seeing them lying there on the ground lifeless, yet still quite, ah erect, I could not help but to place myself in their little squirrel shoes, and I spent the rest of the day calling myself “Son of Sam”, and as a result, I never fired upon a living creature again. Needless to say I could not eat them either, but I am quite sure Ted Nugent would have had no trouble consuming them raw, without bothering to separate them.

I still feel so manly whenever I hold my guns, I mean after all; they are kind of penis-like. It’s a long barrel that shoots stuff out the tip. You cannot get more penis-like than a gun. In fact, on my trips out to the target range, I could not help but feel I was attending some sort of metaphorical circle-jerk, only we weren’t going for distance, just accuracy. I must insist though that I read my outdoor magazines for the articles, and not the pictures.

Honestly I feel safe with my guns; it’s the rest of you that have guns that scare the hell out of me. If it did not violate the second amendment, I’d be all for a law that allowed only me to own guns. I would certainly feel safer than I do now. I never really know when some lunatic is going to open fire on people in a public place and I will find myself caught in the crossfire. I know, you guys say if we all carry guns, we could just shoot that lunatic and stop him before he killed more people.

I must mention that we still haven’t figured out how to conduct warfare without receiving casualties as a result of friendly fire, and soldiers are supposedly highly trained and proficient with their weapons; something the average citizen is not. I cannot help but point out that we might wind up with just as many people dead after all of us attempted to open fire on the gun-toting lunatic. Worse, if all of us have guns and are shooting, how will we know which one of us is the gun-toting lunatic? Perhaps it might be all of us.

I do not own my guns with the expectation that they will protect me when civilization finally falls. Bullets cannot stop global warming, and they cannot kill diminishing resources. They cannot stop someone from firing a nuclear missile at this country, as bullets cannot make it that far across the ocean.

Bullets cannot stop a drought or a flood, and they cannot kill a virus that is causing a pandemic. You might be able to shoot holes in the smog, but you cannot stop the effects of toxic pollution, no matter how many times you bust a cap in toxic pollution’s ass.

Even though you tell yourself that your guns protect you from your own government, you are no match for Blackhawk helicopters and tanks. You cannot shoot down a stealth bomber, nor can you sink an aircraft carrier with your guns.

I keep my guns for just one reason, and one reason only. On the day when the crap hits the fan, I will grab my gun and point it at my head, and then I will squeeze off a round. The thought of starving to death, suffocating, or being slowly poisoned to death has no appeal to me whatsoever. How about you fellas, do you like a slow painful death or a quick one? You might want to hold on to your guns since we don’t seem to be able to work together to fix any of our problems.

Maybe that is because our agendas are more important than the survival of the human race.

Special news note: Rev. Jerry Falwell has been punished by God and died in his office today. Apparently, God became frustrated with Falwell's inability to rid America of faggots, so God iced the sucker. It is not known whether or not in his final moments if the reverend lived up to his name.

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-6846526974446767692007-05-13T19:13:00.000-07:002008-11-13T02:46:04.945-08:00Goodbye to the blogosphere part 1<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_VNXrGMdlbMg/RkfF6xttheI/AAAAAAAAAFY/25NP66Yv4Rs/s320/tinhats.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5064233919569561058" />Before my final Dear John letter to the American public is drafted, I wanted to individually say goodbye to several niche groups that are near or at least dear to my heart. I thought I would start out with conspiracy theorists first, because I have to actually make an attempt to get serious with the other niche groups, and these guys are quite accustomed to being received lightly.

Before I get to my actual goodbye message to these slightly paranoid individuals, I thought I would add a few twisted insights and semi-plausible facts to their regular menu of quiet hysteria. These contributions are the result of years of research, and one night spent consuming an entire bottle of Tequila:

Bullwinkle was gay, but really butch, President Eisenhower was really a space alien, but was in fact designed by German geneticists, in a failed attempt to cure pattern baldness. President Kennedy was actually shot, but it was all a plot hatched by the Trilateral Commission, and a special commando unit of the Shriners, working in conjunction with the Free Masons (which is redundant as aren’t all Trilateral Commission members also Free Masons?) to allow Kennedy to go into early retirement in the Virgin Islands, and allow Jackie Onassis the divorce Joe Kennedy and the Catholic Church would not grant her.

Hugh Hefner is in reality an agent for the Southern Baptist Convention, and planted amongst the heathens in an effort to deduce exactly how they were going to brainwash Americans using the Public Broadcasting System. Pat Robertson and James Dobson are actually double agents for the Jack Daniels corporation’s marketing division. It was calculated that anytime either one of them spoke, millions of Americans would consume large quanities alcohol in an effort to block out the memory of hearing them.

The attacks on September 11, 2001 were planned in advance, but were in fact initiated by several Americans who had lost their luggage on previous transcontinental flights. They flew into the World Trade Center by accident, primarily because they did not have the foresight to take advanced flight training courses before they hijacked the planes, and their intended destination was actually LAX, where most baggage gets lost anyway. That Arabs were on the plane was purely a coincidence, as all were headed to a QuickMart franchise owners convention. The box cutters were only employed to scratch off lottery tickets.

In closing, you guys can stop digging so deep for hidden secrets and just read the daily news now. Our leaders no longer care about concealing their evil acts, and will perform them right in front of the camera. There are no real conspiracies anymore, and the word conspiracy has been changed to “The Headlines”.

Stop working yourselves to death guys, just watch Fox News.

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-85650648771480850132007-05-07T17:29:00.000-07:002008-11-13T02:46:05.074-08:00Iraq: Game over, enough B.S.<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_VNXrGMdlbMg/Rj_EaRtthdI/AAAAAAAAAFQ/bmN7f_xOsLc/s320/dipsunni.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5061980461898499538" />I will repost the piece about e-mailing every announced candidate, in a few days, as so far, I am only being spammed with campaign e-mails by John Edwards and Barack Obama, and no one as of yet has seriously responded to my request.

I am posting this piece on Iraq, because frankly it’s gotten ridiculous, no actually it got ridiculous a long time ago, but it just got even more ridiculous. In case you did not know, Iraq's top Sunni official has set a May 15 deadline for pulling his entire bloc out of the government. You know, that bogus government we forced upon them that has not been working for almost 4 years now?

I am quite sure that the loyal 28%, including the monstrously intelligent, but thoroughly in denial Dennis Miller, will find yet another way to spin this pullout by the Sunnis into a positive event. If one cannot look at the basic statement that the Sunnis just made and have the lightbulb go off over your head, then I guess nothing will ever sink into your thick skull. So I will just leave this here for you to read and ignore, presuming you are one of that group of loyal, and highly stubborn 28 percenters.

Instead, I just thought I’d make a little comment about the pathetically limp argument from the 28%, that if we pulled out of Iraq, the terrorists would follow us home. My first question for you is just what exactly do we spend billions on the Department of Homeland Defense for? My next question is do you actually presume that there are not any terrorists here now?

Following your logic, we need to keep our troops in Iraq forever, unless we plan on nuking every single country in the Middle East. If we leave Iraq 20 years from now, well then gosh darn, those dad gum terrorists will follow us home 20 years from now. So either we need to nuke every single Arab, or we have to leave the troops in Iraq all the way through to the end times, because if we don’t, the terrorists are just going to follow us home. Since our Homeland Security Department is such an abject failure, that no one trusts them enough to protect us, (that is in the event we bring our boys home from Iraq now), we really don’t have any other choice do we?

Actually there is another choice, which is for the 72% of the rest of us, to realize that the 28% that still support this war, long ago wandered far away from sanity. If you think that the 28% are not coming to grips with reality, I say the passive stance of the 72% of you who are willing to just sit there and stare at this mess, is an even stronger indication that the 72% have themselves, wandered away from sanity.

100% of you morons have a nice day.

P.S. I forgot to mention that the first time terrorists try and attack us here while the troops are still in Iraq, the last shakey leg falls out from under this stupid arguement. OOOPS! It already happened.

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com33tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-84616313412644635482007-04-29T18:22:00.000-07:002007-05-04T16:57:03.830-07:00The last duty callsBefore I take the sword and place it back in the scabbard on this blog, I have one final task to complete. It has been planned for some time now, and I would not feel right about packing the luggage without following through with this project.

I will be sending e-mails to every announced candidate for the 2008 presidential elections. I am also including anyone who has formed an exploratory committee, as they may be jumping into the race at any time. Personally, I expect only those candidates whose odds of winning the presidency mirror Dick Cheney’s chances of being struck by a meteorite, to actually respond to my request. This is because the question that I will be asking them is directly related to why all of my efforts with this blog were doomed to failure from the very beginning.

If any candidate is brave enough to actually respond to my request, I will publish their response in its entirety, right here where all of you can read it, and react as you see fit. I’ll also be publishing copies from my sent e-mail files to prove that those who have not responded were in fact e-mailed, using the proper address. With all the trouble that Karl Rove seems to have maintaining copies of his e-mails, I felt this was the prudent thing to do.

I will be e-mailing each of the following candidates:

* Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas (contacted 05/3/o7)
* John H. Cox of Illinois (contacted 04/30/o7)
* Former Governor Jim Gilmore of Virginia (contacted 05/3/o7)
* Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani of New York (contacted 04/30/o7)
* Representative Duncan Hunter of California (contacted 04/30/o7)
* Senator John McCain of Arizona (contacted 05/3/o7)
* Representative Ron Paul of Texas (contacted 05/3/o7)
* Former Governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts (contacted 04/30/o7)
* Representative Tom Tancredo of Colorado (contacted 04/30/o7)
* Former Governor Tommy Thompson of Wisconsin (contacted 04/30/o7)
* Mike Jingozian of Oregon
* Bob Jackson of Michigan
* Steve Kubby of California
* George Phillies of Massachusetts
* Christine Smith of Colorado
* James Gilchrist of California
* Dale Thompson of Kentucky
* Elaine Brown of Georgia
* Kent Mesplay of California
* Kat Swift, co-chair of Texas Green Party
* James H. Mccall of Ohio
* Donald K. Allen of Ohio
* Steve Adams of Kentucky
* David Koch of Utah
* Senator Joe Biden of Delaware (contacted 04/30/o7)
* Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York (contacted 04/30/o7)
* Senator Christopher Dodd of Connecticut (contacted 05/3/o7)
* Former Senator John Edwards of North Carolina (contacted 04/30/o7)
* Former Senator Mike Gravel of Alaska (contacted 04/30/o7)
* Representative Dennis Kucinich of Ohio (contacted 04/30/o7)
* Senator Barack Obama of Illinois (contacted 05/3/o7)
* Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico (contacted 05/3/o7)

This is the template copy that will be sent to each of the candidates:

Dear candidate,

My name is the Reverend Billy Bob Gisher, and I am a writer for several different blogs. I am e-mailing each and every candidate for the 2008 presidential elections, who has either announced their candidacy, or formed an exploratory committee. Each candidate will be receiving the same question that you have received today from me, and each candidate will be offered the opportunity to provide a response, which I will publish in its entirety. The question is as follows:

Once you are elected president of the United States of America, please list all of the things that you will be asking all Americans to do for their country, in an effort to confront potential threats against us, and to correct problems that currently besiege us, as well as improving the quality of life in this country.

Please avoid listing payment of taxes, voting during elections, reporting suspicious activity, and observing all known US laws. I also highly advise you to avoid requesting that all Americans shop, and continue to do so, as President Bush requested in response to the September 11, 2001 attack upon our country. I am looking for what you will ask Americans to do beyond these most basic of expectations.

Thank you very much for your time, and I eagerly await your response.

Sincerely.

Reverend Billy Bob Gisher

I will be mailing each of them during the following week and will post the date and time they are mailed next to their name on the list above.

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-44638283917566911382007-04-24T15:42:00.000-07:002008-11-13T02:46:05.501-08:00Can we just fire Imus again?I recently ran a story regarding the sharp increase of incidents similar to the shootings at Virginia Tech. America received this post in a fashion similar to what you would expect from a person who had just found a turd in their cereal bowl.

So I thought I would learn a lesson from our politicians and back up and try to explain Virginia Tech in a way that everyone would receive warmly. I know this possibly means lying to each one of my fellow Americans but I just so want to be loved by all, so what the heck I’ll do it.

So I looked at my figures again and Europe was still there on the page with the lowest numbers of Christians anywhere in the modern world, and the lowest rates of homicide.

I couldn’t possibly suggest that we put all of the Christians on boats and ship them back to Africa. First of all, there are a lot of Christians in America, and I’m supposed to make everyone happy with my analysis, not the opposite. I also don’t think that would be fair to Africa.

So I looked at another set of statistics on Europe again, showing where they have the lowest rate of gun ownership anywhere in the modern world, so low that in effect, the only people that have guns are the criminals. The NRA has already told us that if you get rid of all the guns in America, only the criminals are going to have guns, so this idea isn’t going to work either. I certainly don’t want to upset all of those NRA members, as everyone has to be happy when I’m finished. I also don’t want to get rid of my guns either because all of those Christians are going to be staying in this country.

Then I thought about violent video games and violent movies. Hey, maybe if we ban all of those and instead ran reruns of “Father Knows Best” on a continuous cycle, and replaced all of the videogames with hula-hoops, we could finally stop the violence. Then I realized that if we did that I would have millions of kids angry with me, and most of their parents would be as well. The kids would get bored with “Father Knows Best” and the hula hoops real fast, and then the parents would be forced to actually pay attention to their children. Nobody would like this arrangement, and everyone would hate me, so I had to think of something else.

The only thing left appeared to be the nuts, you know the lunatics. If we just got rid of all of the crazy people that would surely end the violence in this country. So I started counting up the numbers, utilizing examples of irrational behavior, and cloudy, illogical thought processes, and then suddenly realized that this would leave only twenty-seven people in America, with the bulk of them in retirement homes.

Twenty-seven people would not be enough to keep my grocery store stocked, my cable company functioning, or the gas station running. This would piss off those remaining twenty-seven people so badly that they would hate me forever, even though I was no longer in the country.

Well you don’t seriously expect me to suggest that we improve mental health in this country do you? That would go over about as well is my suggestion on the previous post that we improve our parenting skills. Most Americans will tell you they are just fine and everyone else is nuts. So ultimately I have run out solutions.

I guess we all just have to get used to the steady sounds of gunfire coming from out of the halls of our kindergartens and elementary schools, as well as our Post Office. The only thing I can advise you to do is buy earplugs* so the ringing in your ears will stop. Hey I tried people, but it just seems that you can’t solve all of our problems and still have everyone love you.

*Credit for the inspiration for this line goes to Dr. Freud and Mr. Bunny

Editor's note: Anyone heard anything from Al Sharpton on his progress in cleaning up rap music?

And for the low growth potential set, today's anti-Gisher alternative moment:

Giving America what it truly craves and deserves.

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-25764629192660893252007-04-23T18:33:00.000-07:002008-11-13T02:46:05.660-08:00I support the Constitution<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_VNXrGMdlbMg/Ri1egp0WHYI/AAAAAAAAAE0/nxiKAsTMS5s/s320/garbagecanpusher.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5056801871681166722" />I support the troops in Iraq, I think these young Americans are brave and talented and do whatever they are asked or ordered to do. You can put all those signs, and those doll babies strung from a noose back in the storage box, because we done up and fixed abortion for you. Could someone please tell Gloria Steinem to turn out the lights when she leaves?

You can read the entire post and accompanying 14,000 mile-long comment box right here if you choose, or you can stick around on this page for the summary version if you’re one of those people that has the attention span of a gnat riddled with ADHD.

You heard me right, we fixed abortion, little old me and a bunch of people who are a whole lot smarter than I. I am the dummy that they put out front to bring you the news, just like the author for the majority opinion in a supreme court ruling. We too, put the dimmest bulb out front while the rest are checking the values of their portfolios with their online brokers. It was quite simple actually, and it boils down to this:

It is completely impossible to ban all abortions in all 50 states. Ever.

That’s right folks, if you toss Roe versus Wade in the same trash can we throw babies in, you still have 50 states out in front of you left to deal with. I will go ahead and concede the Pro-lifers the state of Alabama, you can consider that prize all sewed up. The poor toothless women of Alabama will either have to run around barefoot and pregnant, or get in their car and drive barefoot across a state line or two to jam their babies into the equivalent of a Cuisinart.

Just do a headcount people and focus on just the states where the Evangelical population has a clear majority. If you are having any difficulties, just contact the offices of Karl Rove, I think he has both a map and a template that you can use. In these states, the Evangelicals pretty much have the entire fetus deal wrapped up in the collection plate, but keep a close eye on the ones where they do not have a majority. For example, flip California over to the pro-life side guys, go ahead, I will sit and watch. It would certainly be entertaining to watch you attempt to flip New York over to the pro-life side as well. We could probably get that on pay-for-view.

That’s right campers, nobody loses the right to use abortion as another form of birth control. Some of them may have to fill a few extra tanks of gas to get one, but they will still be able to ditch the baby and hang out at Motel 6 that evening. Maybe you can get Motel 6 banned; as I for one am quite disgusted with Motel 6 for the lack of viable breakfast options, and overly spongy beds. I might add that nobody beats up little Lucinda, or tosses her into the streets without getting tossed into a nice gang-rape at jail, as we like, have laws against that. Lucinda gets to stay safely at home with her typically dysfunctional American family, who will then have the added bonus of another mouth to feed. Yet another Norman Rockwell moment.

Now of course if you Evangelicals want to waste the energy to bring the battle to that point, you go ahead and lose the valuable time you could be spending in front of the tube. There you could be watching Fox news reruns of your favorite war in the Middle East, and you most certainly would miss out on the execution by lethal injection of another retarded death row inmate in Texas. These are the bonus thrills available now to Pro-lifers. Hey it’s your time, do what you will.

You Pro-choicers can continue the fight to save Roe versus Wade if you despise the thought of driving couple hundred miles from Alabama in an attempt to get your family jewels up close and personal with the equivalent of a Hoover vacuum. I would bet that most of you heathens are using birth control anyway because you guys understand that you’re responsible for your own actions right? So most of you won’t have to drive anywhere other than your local drugstore to buy more birth control. I hear the lemon flavored French ticklers are delightful. That said, if you choose to do so, go and knock yourself out fighting for Roe versus Wade.

The ones I feel most sorry for, are the politicians, because after I run my story on gay marriage, how are politicians from both sides going to be able to rally their bases in the next election? It’s been an awful long time since any politician had to promise Americans more jobs, and I’m not sure that any of these guys know how to do that. Even for them though, there’s still social security that can be used as a bogeyman to scare the hell out of their bases, so their cupboards are not entirely empty, unless all the old geezers die before the elections.

All of you may wish to pause for just a moment first, and consider repealing the privacy laws we have on minors. That way, each of you can properly raise your own children as you see fit, instead of having the government keep their behavior secret in a noble attempt to protect your own children from you. But hey if you value your kid’s privacy that much, you can overlook this suggestion as well. I just hope you don’t mind if we continue to have more incidents like what just happened with Virginia Tech.

I will leave everyone with the advice Grandma Gisher gave me many years ago:

“A fetus in the hand, is always better than two in the bush.”

Y’all have a nice day now.

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-92219859401280969892007-04-20T09:05:00.000-07:002008-11-13T02:46:06.050-08:00Abortion: I’m Pro-logic<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_VNXrGMdlbMg/Rijk6J0WHVI/AAAAAAAAAEc/7svLWO10dQ8/s320/morons.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5055542269442399570" />If the Supreme Court ever gets around to abolishing the right to abortions, many who support women’s right to choose will find themselves understandably bent out of shape. That is because the people of the United States will be telling them what they can and cannot do with a baby in their wombs. I have never supported repealing Roe versus Wade because frankly I think it’s delusional, (and the evidence supports me) to think that this will bring all abortions to a grinding halt. I also believe that the sheer numbers of abortions performed is evidence that we have abdicated the personal responsibility of birth control. That said, in a weird way, I find myself almost looking forward to the moment when pro-abortion supporters are forced to stand in the shoes of right-wing Christian fundamentalists. How could this possibly be you say?

For decades, the child of a Christian fundamentalist, (actually everyone’s child) has had the ability to obtain an abortion without requiring the permission, or even the notification of their parents regarding the procedure. Any female under the age of 18 has been able to waltz right down to an abortion clinic, receive her abortion, and her Mom and Dad were not allowed by law to be notified.

Most fundamentalist Christians have the belief that abortion is wrong, that it is against the rules of their religion. In most cases these Christians are allowed by law to raise their children whatever way they see fit, as long as they do not physically or sexually abuse them, and the child receives a proper education. Not so with an abortion, as this decision has been taken out of their hands.

Personally, I do not think that most young ladies under the age of 18 are ready for the responsibility of raising a child. I also do not think that we do the child any service by forcing these young girls to raise them. I would be the first person to advise their parents that their daughter should be utilizing some form of birth control, however for many Christian fundamentalists, using birth control is also against their religion.

If Roe versus Wade is overturned, and an abortion supporter’s daughter becomes pregnant, let’s say at age 14, the law will then tell this young lady’s parents, that she is not allowed to receive an abortion. The people of the United States will be telling both the parent and daughter, what she can and cannot do with a baby in her womb. This is an invasion of that parent’s right to raise their child whatever way they see fit. It is also not one bit different than what our laws now tell the Christian fundamentalists. We flatly tell them they have no right to be involved in their under-aged daughter's decision. We go even further by insisting that they do not have a right to be informed that their daughter is either pregnant, has had an abortion, and they are not allowed to be informed if she is using birth control.

I do not blame abortion supporters for being bent out of shape over the fact that they will not be able to raise their young daughters in the manner that they personally approve of. That said, I doubt seriously that any of these pro-abortion supporters had ever considered that we have totally removed Christian parent's right to make their own decisions regarding how their daughter should be raised. If they had ever considered this, perhaps they would have understood the frustration that has quite obviously compelled religious fundamentalist’s rabid attempts to overturn Roe versus Wade.

There is a tendency by human beings to ignore the encroachment of rights of other people, but very carefully scrutinize any such encroachments upon their own rights. You can call it what you want, but I consider this to be purely myopic, and I see this behavior coming from both sides in the abortion argument.

The fundamental question is, do parents have the right to decide how to raise their children? I personally think those who are in favor of abortion, and those who are against abortion each have the right to raise their child what ever way they see fit, so long as the child is not abused, properly educated, and cared for. This is not the behavior that abortion supporters have shown the Christian right. Abortion supporters have not allowed Christian parents to raise their children the way they see fit. If Roe versus Wade is overturned, then abortion supporters will find themselves standing in the shoes of Christian fundamentalists.

Personally I think the pendulum will swing back and forth on this issue forever, because I think both sides approach this issue from an entirely self-centered perspective. I think the pendulum that is known as our courts, will continue to swing back and forth on this issue till humanity has been wiped from the face of the earth; as soon as one side takes power, the other side loses, and vice versa. This is why I am Pro-logic.

It may be possible that if a majority of Americans felt as I do on the matter, this issue would’ve gone away from the radar screens a long time ago and our energies could be invested into other pressing matters. Too bad, but for now, I will just sit back and watch all of you idiots knock the snot out of each other. As far as I’m concerned you are reaping what you have sown. Literally.

Have a nice day dimdodes.

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17076602.post-35901532111836540502007-04-17T11:28:00.000-07:002008-11-13T02:46:06.277-08:00Same post: just changing the title.<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_VNXrGMdlbMg/RiUR5gjGspI/AAAAAAAAAEU/0yUp6SYjwQQ/s320/hope.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5054465836480639634" />Yesterday in my post on the Virginia Tech shootings, I drew a line between several of our largest social problems and stretched it all the way back to a lack of respect for life. I inadvertently drew another line to something else that is also a major contributor to most of our problems today:

Too little reliance on individual involvement, and too much reliance on government.

Greed has always wormed its way through the heart of humanity or I would add it to the list with these other two culprits, as our top three contributors for most all of our current problems. The other two contributors are in fact the conditions that have changed most prominently during the last century, and for that reason I will focus on these two, starting with the lack of respect for life.

You do not need to be a Christian to respect life; you need only not to be a living breathing sociopath. Most atheists and agnostics will tell you that their respect for life is their highest priority. So with the majority Americans clearly stating that they hold life to be of the utmost value, how did we arrive at a point where so many clearly demonstrate a lack of appreciation for it? Look at the problem through the eyes of a child to find the answer.

For starters, look at abortion through those eyes. Let me first state that I have argued numerous times against the futility of making abortions illegal, but let’s stop for just a moment and look at what a child sees when they look at abortion.

They see a country where rather than placing a high priority on preventing pregnancy, and thus eliminating the majority of abortions, we legally rip millions of babies, the seeds of our future, out of their mother’s wombs. Tell me that is a positive influence upon children, I dare you.

Next we have millions of parents who allow their children to watch violent programming unsupervised, programming that is most suitably viewed by adults. These same adults allow millions of children to play violent video games, again with little or no supervision. The majority of these children receive no counseling on what they are seeing and thus no counterpoint to the violence in front of them.

Most of these children manage to avoid bringing this violence into the real world, but obviously a few of them find great difficulty separating the real from the imagined. All of these children are desensitized however, and it is their parents that allow this to happen, not the producers of the content.

Then we have most Christian children who were taught the lessons of Jesus, and quite specifically, that they are to turn the other cheek. Jesus never turned upon his attackers, and forcefully instructed his followers to do the same. Sadly, unless these Christian children’s parents are Amish, what they witness from a majority of their parents, is entirely contradictory to the instructions of Jesus.

Far too many of these children observe their parents supporting and encouraging wars. Wars where humans are killed and sometimes the body counts number in the millions. What kind of message are these kids receiving? We now know that the primary influence on children is the behavior of their parents, not the words of their parents, the behavior of their parents. What kind of influence is aggressively supporting warfare in front of Christian children?

Surrounding all our children, is a complete lack of evidence for any respect of life, and everywhere they turn, this is what they witness. What on earth do you think we are telling these children by our actions? We can tell them that we value life, but what do our actions actually demonstrate for them?

If you want our values to return to the place they were over 60 years ago, you need to go beyond throwing a Bible at them, and well beyond just the words that you spew. Look closely at your actions; in fact, look closely at all of our actions, because this is the primary influence upon our children.

Next: Dependence upon government.

rev. billy bob gisher ©2008noreply@blogger.com6
