Happy Monday! Check out this wonderful house located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The waterfall house was conceived by the request of a young business man in a closed neighborhood. The particularities and requisites of the client, among with the lot's characteristics, established the path to follow in the design process. The borders of the small lot we are referring to, seem to disappear in the predominant visuals: the lake. The surrounding houses, the sun's path and the visual were needed to understand the emplacement. At the back of the lot, at the ground level the lake has a shy presence. So it was considered to raise up to get a better look at the lake. This is the reason why it was decided to place the social area in the upper level, conquering the panoramic views to the lake during the day. It is there where the water shows up. Unexpected at that height, it embraces the architecture and paints it with reflections, bringing life and movement.Appearing and disappearing to the eyes of the user, relaxing with it's sound, dazzling with reflects, going through a path that stimulates the senses. The shallow pool expands the house limits, making them infinite. It erases the line between natural and artificial, inside and outside. The elevated water falls, as a waterfall, over the swimming pool in the lower floor, refreshing the rooms and providing privacy at the same time. Happy Friday! Check out this wonderful house in Bukit Timah, Singapore. This house comprises of three volumes positioned around a central courtyard such that they interact, whilst each wing remains distinct enough to be viewed as an independent entity. The home’s interiors and outdoor areas are configured with flexibility of space in mind so that the house can be adapted to suit a broad spectrum of homeowners. A balance is struck between the man-made spaces and the natural ones, with the building formed from basic elemental shapes with raw-finished materials, such as fair-faced concrete, stone, mild steel, tropical wood and clear glass. The owner’s love of glass fuelled their brief to construct a beautifully simple sculptural glass staircase and a contemporary glass extension, situated at the rear of the property in the space created by the ‘C’ shape of the building, which would open itself up to the garden. The couple approached AR Design Studio Chartered Architects because of their experience in dealing with glass architecture and their interest in how this material can be used to create seamless relationships between inside and outside space, between the man-made and nature. Hidden from view behind the buildings traditional façade, the finished extension is an elegant piece of modern contemporary glass architecture. It completely reinvents the feel and atmosphere of the previously dark and cramped servants’ quarters; all within the rich and poignant historical context of the site. Bedroom Storage For Summer 2013 – What Do I Need To Consider?

Winter is finally behind us and summer is on its way. Whilst you might not mind being surrounded by your odds and ends during the cold months, as soon as spring is here you want your house to be crisp, clean and clutter-free. Your bedroom is a sanctuary, so don't treat it like a junkyard. There are all sorts of clever storage solutions that you could be taking advantage of to ensure that your living quarters are looking fit and healthy throughout the summer. Create a list Before you can really design your bedroom you need to figure out your storage needs. Start by de-cluttering your drawers and wardrobes to find out what you can get rid of (try and donate to charity where possible) and what can be put away until next winter. Vacuum packing In terms of your clothing, the transition from winter to spring/summer is a big one; it means all the thick woolly jumpers, jackets, coats and shoes can be stored away for at least six months. You might just move these to the back of your wardrobe, but the best way to maximise storage space is to vacuum pack them and store them in the attic or under the bed out of the way. By vacuum packing your clothes, all the air is removed, leaving you with a much smaller volume. Use vertical space In our bedrooms, we usually keep everything at one height. Aside from your wardrobes, nothing else is likely to be above head height. Just think about all that wall space that is going to waste! You could utilise those walls with floor to ceiling shelving. End-of-bed storage Adding a chest of drawers at the foot of the bed can provide much-needed additional space, without taking up too much room. These are often ideal for bulkier items, such as duvets and linen. Utilise under the bed Most bed frames are at least a foot off the ground, with ample space underneath, so don't let this forgotten area go to waste. You can utilise it with drawers, storage boxes or baskets. Other beds, such as divan beds and lift-up beds have storage built-in, so make sure you use it. Fitted bedrooms By avoiding free-standing wardrobes, you are automatically giving yourself more space in the room as well as ensuring that you have plenty of storage. You can actually make a feature wall out of your wardrobes, so that they are stylish as well as practical. Fitted bedrooms can solve the problem of awkward corners, wonky walls and uneven flooring, ensuring that you are able to make the most of all the space in the room.
