Let me tell you about this

The elder scrolls online teaser trailer

2012-05-04T23:51:00.002+02:00

Hey people...

It isn't a secret to you anymore that I'm quite a fan of the elder scrolls series... And that I was quite fond of the last game, skyrim... Well, I just encountered something so unbelievable that I just needed to share it with you...

A teaser for an MMORPG in the world of the elder scrolls...
Is this something to be happy about? I'm not sure... I wouldn't like to see the genre run upon its end with a way too expensive massive multiplayer game... But on the other side it would be very cool to explore the vast world of morrowind, skyrim and all the others with your friends online... And even though I cannot decide about whether I like this or not, I am very sure about one thing: I am VERY VERY fond of the new teaser trailer which Bethesda released...
See it for yourself!

What do you think about it? could it be a succes, or do you fear for the worst? Please let me know in the comments!

See you guys later

Guest post: A replacement to the university?

2012-04-30T06:42:00.002+02:00

Hello people,

today I'm doing something which I've never done before: a guest post. Recently I've been contacted by the people of WallstreetOasis with the request of featuring one of their posts on this blog to follow up the online education post which I made in the past (if you have no idea what I'm talking about you can check it out HERE)
Well I've read their article and I thought it would be well worth sharing it with all of you so prepare for the first guest post ever on this blog:

A REPLACEMENT TO THE UNIVERSITY?

"The cost of post-secondary education is relevant to many users on this board. Those not in school are likely paying off loans or considering a graduate degree.

There have been several attempts to open elite educational institutions to the masses, most notably MITs OpenCourseWare. The problem is you can't exactly use it to qualify for a job like a degree.
You might have done the work, but can't prove it.

The NYT ran an article discussing the possible of online certificate programs. Free courses with paid exams, so as to discourage cheating. Could these certifications eventually replace a college degree for many jobs that don't really need a degree? (Does my postman need 4 years of college?)

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/05/education/moocs-large-courses-open-to-all-topple-campus-walls.html?src=me&ref=general

Of course, you can cheat on these exams, but cheating in college is also possible. More broadly, could we move from general BAs to specialized certificate programs? MSFT has done a great job with their certifications- you can get a good IT job without paying for a degree, and the certifications actually do demonstrate knowledge Are these tailored certificates a way to end the educational arms race?"

If you liked the approach of this article and wish to discuss it with others who are interested you can follow the source link to their forum and discuss the matter there, or alternatively you can also just post your opinion in here, right on this blog... The choice is yours to make!

Thanks to the people from wallstreetoasis for this opportunity and I hope you enjoyed the reading... I certainly did!

See you next time!

Man sticks hand in beehive... Madness!

2012-04-23T23:27:00.000+02:00

What's up people,

Today I watched a viral video where a man literally sticks his hand inside a pack of bees, without any protection... Yes, he holds hundreds of bees in his bare hands, no protection...
Just watch for yourself:

I was amazed about how this was possible and I have a theory of my own, that is is some kind of stray colony of bees. And since bees only attack when either the honey in danger, and because there isn't any honey in this situation, that it's safe... I'm not sure about this though... They might also have been sedated by some thing, it's all possible... If anyone has an idea about this, please share it, because I'm very curious about it...

Well, that will bee all for today, i look forward to reading the comments... See you next time!

Men in black 3 trailer... And I'm liking it!

2012-03-29T23:29:00.001+02:00

Hey there!

It's about time that I shared something with you guys again... And boy it's amazing... Well, it is to me...
Today I saw another trailer which made my inner child scream AWWW YEAH!

The trailer I watched was the one of men in black III. Yes, they decided to make a third movie, so prepare yourself because Will smith is coming back, in black... to protect earth from the alien scum out there...
Here's the trailer:

The movie will appear in theaters 25th of may and I'm sure I will be watching it on the day of release.
Some other info about the movie: besides Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones will also appear in this movie as agent K. And apparently, the role of the young agent K will also be played by Josh Brolin... Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I'm not pretty sure... what do you think yourself? Please let me know in the comments!

Angry tunes: Angry birds-speakers

2012-03-14T03:07:00.000+01:00

What up people,

Time for another gadget review:

On today's schedule is: the angry birds speakers produced by gear4.

This is the ideal gadget for those of you who can't get enough of the birds and pigs of Rovio's massive hit game: "angry birds", and love fancy looking ipod speakers. Perfect for geeks and nerds who want to fill up their collection of crazy game gadgets. But it's also a great hit for those of you who don't want to be super geeky, yet original...
Admit it, they look awesome and funny. And best thing about it is that the quality of these speakers is pretty good too. (that's what's most important, ain't is). The people from gear4 certainly put their effort into making these, so that the sound quality is crystal clear and just perfect for in house use.
The docking stations on these speakers are only I-thing compatible, but there's also a 3.5mm cord included, so you can connect just about any other mp3 player out there, great isn't it? Well I think it is. They're goofy, geeky, stylish, silly... The only downside is the price you have to pay for these designer speakers. Red bird will cost you 50 pounds which is about 80 pounds. Not too much for a decent speaker, but there's still cheaper solutions. Of course those won't make your inner nerd giggle like a small child...

So what do you think about these? Is it something you'd buy? Maybe you want to gift it to someone? Or do you think it is purely money-milking?
Let me know in the comments!

Marvel, I love you!

2012-02-08T06:58:00.001+01:00

As promised! Exams are done, I'm fully recovered, and I'm back to blog =)

Today I saw the recently released trailer for the new spiderman movie, and man I can tell you, I'm looking forward to seeing it!
It looks like they are going the way they did with batman and the dark knight, making the story much darker and intenser... I also like the cast, actually I like every thing I've seen up till now about this movie... The original 3 movies were good and somewhat satisfying but never gave me the "wow" feeling; let's hope this one can...

Extra: the recent trailer I spoke of earlier, enjoy

Catch ya later!

Posting delay, rebirth is near...

2012-01-31T04:24:00.001+01:00

January was one sad month for the blogger inside of me... Yes, a month full of exams isn't the best time to blog for me... As much as I wanted to, I'd have to make up the content really quick and hurried, and I just don't feel like presenting something that isn't fully worth it... That's why there's been a (long) silence. But fear not, as I just entered the last week of exams, you can expect new posts, gadgets, music, games and even more... There's even a little surprise about a side project of mine, but that's for the future...

All I can say now is: hold on a little more and don't forget to come back soon to find the content you've been waiting for!

Catch you later!

World's craziest record holders

2011-12-02T02:58:00.001+01:00

Hey all,

Today I came across a copy of the book of Guinness world records and I must say, there are quite a lot weird record holders out there... Nevertheless, they all have a record for an amazing feat, and I'm sure they are very proud of it... So let's get rolling, here they come:

Cathie Jung, with a waist of 38cm, she's officially the woman with the thinnest waist... She all achieved this by wearing corsets... Amazing or crazy?

Next is Stephen Taylor. This brittish lad has the biggest tongue in the world, with a piece of meat measuring 9,5 cm...

No this isn't wolverine's mother, this is Lee Redmond and as you can see she has the worlds longest nails... She hasn't clipped them since 1979 and the result is 8,65 metres of glory...

No, this man doesn't have a banana in his ear. He's got hair, and quite a lot of it too... With a length og 25 cm Radhakant Baijpai has the longest ear hairs in the world!

This is Svetlana Pankratova, and even though she might not be the tallest woman in the world (which is De-Fen Yao) She still has the longest female legs; with a length of 1,32 metres and a shoe size of 46 she easily beats even most men.

In contrast to Svetlana, you can see He Pingping, who is the smallest man on the world (who is capable of walking). I'm afraid he won't be allowed on many theme park rides with his 73 cm length...

The complete contrast to pingping is the worlds largest man, the Ukraïnian Leonid Stadnyk. A humongous 2,57 metres makes him a real giant.

We've seen the longest ear hair, well this is the longest normal scalp hair. It belongs to Xie Qiuping and hasn't been cut for the last 47 years... Her hair is actually longer than she is with an amazing 5,6 metres in total

You might have seen this spectacular picture... These eyes belong to Kim Goodman, and as you can see she can pop her eyes out of their sockets... How far? Well, 12 mm...

And last but not least, the longest female beard. This beauty listens to the name Vivian Wheeler and is very proud of her facial hair. The beard itself measures 28 cm, which is even impressive for some men among us!

So, that's them... 10 people who have an amazing body, and aren't afraid to show it to the world... They might be called freaks or weird by some but they carry their title of record holder with pride...

Skyrim Soundtrack: Dovahkiin

2011-11-19T23:57:00.001+01:00

To stay in the line of my last post, I'll share something more about skyrim...

Yes, the game got to me and is taking up quite a lot of my time, which sadly enough is also the reason for the lack of updates here, sorry!

Anyways, here is what I wanted to share, the theme song of the game. It has a northern mountain king like feeling, and it's absolutely epic... Even though I can't understand the lyrics, they couldn't be any more perfect...
For those who didn't see it yet, I am in love with this game...

Now make sure to listen, because you're missing out big if you don't...

See you later!

Skyrim released, goodbye social life

2011-11-12T05:29:00.001+01:00

Hello everyone!

If you're even a little bit into rpg games you will know the elder scroll series. If that doesn't ring a bell, try oblivion, which was the latest title of the series a little while ago... But not anymore!
Yes, a new game in the elder scroll series has arrived, and I have waited so long for it: Skyrim is it's name...
Yes people, skyrim was released yesterday and I got myself a midnight launch edition! This is super because I happen to have 5 school-free days, which I can now spend with this beauty!

If you are just as exited about this game as I am, but you can't get it yet; or those who don't know a lot about it, I'm afraid that I won't be able to help you with that; but what I can do is sharing a review about it, that sums up the game pretty good, and gives a little bit of that elder scroll magic feeling...

Enjoy, I'm sure you will!

The Horribly Slow Murderer with the Extremely Inefficient Weapon

2011-10-31T20:01:00.003+01:00

Hello Everyone!

First of all, happy halloween!

Everyone knows what halloween is all about, right?
Watching movies in the dark, all night with as few people as possible... Amazing fun... But there's also trick or treating, or going out to costume parties, or doing spooky stuff like walking on the cemetery, or playing Ouija... Do you get what I am saying? There's so much to do on this night, that it's possible that you won't find space for even 1 good horror movie...

Especially for those of you who fit this category, I've decided to put up this post... It's not about some big ass Hollywood production costing thousands of dollars, nope... This is about a fan created movie, it is supposed to act as a trailer for a fictional upcoming movie. It isn't that scary either, it's rather hilarious if you ask me... The plot in a nutshell? A man is hounded, assumedly for eons, by a mysterious pale specter ceaselessly attacking him in the most horrible, and annoying way you can think of... with a spoon...

I know it may sound crazy, but this 10 minute movie is really fun to watch, even though the joke of "taking long, very long" might get annoying after a while... Nevertheless, this is definitely worth watching, so what are you waiting for, just hit that play button!

Happy Halloween!

One person disney movie... Amazingly talented singer

2011-10-28T03:21:00.001+02:00

Hey everyone!

You might have noticed in some of my previous posts, but I am a huge Disney fan! Not only because of the beautiful stories, but also by the amazing songs...

And well, today I found another video which touched my heart... It's truly mad, amazing, cool and epic...
It's about a guy who sings... Yes, he sings lots of disney songs... Still not that special, but he also kind of forms them into 1 story... I loved the way he connects all of the songs.

And his voice is another amazing thing... I mean it, this man really has talent. He does every voice by himself in a kind of acapella setup... Male, female, nice, evil, he does them all! I enjoyed this so much I couldn't do anything but share it with you =D

Enjoy! I know you will ^^

Do you want to hear more of this voice? Then I suggest checking out his youtube channel!

USB Film roll: thousands of pictures on one roll

2011-10-19T23:26:00.000+02:00

Hey everyone,

Remember those good old times where you had to put a film roll into your camera, and rotate a wheel manually to make a new picture... Well if you do, and you miss the feeling of carrying those film rolls around everywhere for the occasion the one you're using gets full, then I've got the ultimate gadget!

Well, gadget, it's actually another fancy USB stick... But this one comes with an original photo roll housing! They come in the versions of kodak and fujifilm, and offer 4 gigabytes of space, so you can fit all of your photos on it for a little while...

You can get yours at photojojo for about 17 euros, which is about 22$. The only thing is that you don't know which one you will get when you order it, so that's an extra surprise!

I'm always amazed by all the new designs people come up with for usb sticks and other things like it... So, what's next? An external hard disc covered in a VHS tape? A smartphone in a radio tape? Everything is possible...

See you!

Mouse belt buckle, ultimate geek fashion

2011-10-17T23:13:00.001+02:00

Hello everyone

Today I feel like making a fashion/gadget post... I'm writing about the mouse belt buckle. What is it? Well, the concept is very simple and very geeky. You take an old school mouse, you remove the electronics from the inside. You mix it up with a belt, and bingo you've got yourself the geekiest belt around. Those 2 button mouses aren't completely your thing? Well then even for you there's a mouse buckle available, created from old apple mouses...

Is this something for you? Well than don't hesitate and take a look at Etsy, where you can get yours for about 15-20$...

Steve Jobs dies at age 56... RIP

2011-10-06T03:07:00.001+02:00

My god... I knew this day would come but I didn't know it'd come so fast...
Yes, I am very saddened. Because Steve Jobs, the mastermind behind apple has died on 05/10/2011... This is awful news... I might not be a super mac fan, but this death is a great loss to modern society.
Steve Jobs had been fighting against different forms of cancer for many years and had also undergone a liver transplantation... The founding father of Apple, and of technology as we know it, is no more... Steve, Rest In Peace, we will all miss you!

Here is a video from abcnews which gives a summary of his life... Do watch it (It won't be embedded so I needed to give a link)

Getting up with Wakemate

2011-10-02T22:33:00.000+02:00

Hey everyone,

Another day, another post, another gadget... This time I'm talking about: wakemate

You probably know the scenario, even when getting a fair amount of sleep, some days you just wake up feeling like a zombie, while you are fresh as a daisy on another day with the same number of hours of sleep... The explanation for this lies within our body programming and our sleep cycles...

When we sleep, we go through different stages of sleep. Together all these phases of sleep create our sleeping cycle, and it is about 90 minutes in length. Normally you wake up at the end of a cycle, but when you need to get up at a certain hour it's possible that you're still in the middle of one. This causes you to feel exhausted and zombie like.

To avoid feeling like this the wakemate was created. It's a simple wrist band which you put on when going to bed. During your sleep this band analyses different parameters and it decided whether you are sleeping firm or light.
On itself this wristband is pretty useless, as it only registers. But when you connect it to your smartphone using a special app, your phone can decide when you are ready to be awoken.
The rest is fairly simple, just enter around when you want to get up and your phone wakes you when it fits best... This ought to solve some of the "I can't get out of bed" problems.

This gadget can be bought at the products website http://wakemate.com/ for the price of 60$

Something for you?
Let me know =D

This is madness!

2011-09-29T22:38:00.001+02:00

You all know these words:

"This is madness"

"Madness?"

"This is Sparta!"

If they don't sound familiar to you either you probably haven't been on the internet for a while... This fragment was made famous by an awesome movie... Have a look for yourself to see what I mean:

Now, I didn't tell you what movie it came from, well in case you don't know, this comes from the movie 300... Now, if you think that this post will be about 300 you're correct, but it's not about the movie... It's about the number of subscribers this blog has reached!

Yes indeed I have reached the number of 300 yesterday and I couldn't think of a better way to announce this than the power of leonidas!

So there you go... 300... An awesome number which I honestly didn't really expect! Thanks to all of you who are following me, I couldn't have gotten here without the support of you guys... Really, thank you very much for reading my writings and supporting my actions!!!

Does this mean that my goal is reached? Not really, I will certainly keep going and one day I hope to gather as much as 500 followers on this blog, but until that day comes I will keep busting my ass of for you people!

Are you sober enough?: Breathalyze Watch

2011-09-27T12:00:00.000+02:00

Hey everyone,

This gadget watch doesn't only tell you the time, you can also see the amount of ethanol (alcohol) in your breath (and by that in your blood). Yes this gadget actually tells you how drunk you are! This is also very useful for knowing whether you are capable of driving a car without getting yourself in problems with the police...

It works like the average breath detector: You simply blow into a small hole and the watch does the rest: it analyses your sample and shows the resukls in a clear and simple way, by colors and bars.

The only bad thing for now that this watch is only a prototype, so you won't be able to find it in stores soon. But id you are interested in this concept and you would like to follow any news about this, I suggest you to visit the developers website: TokyoFlash.

By the way, even if you aren't interested in this watch, Tokyoflash has lots of other awesome looking watches and very innovative designs... Best of all: the price is very decent!

That's it for this gadget, what's your opinion about it? Let me know!

Youtuber featured: Yourfavoritemartian

2011-09-25T21:53:00.000+02:00

Hey everyone!

This youtuber featured today is Yourfavorite martian. This guy makes songs and some cartoons to go along with them. The subjects the songs are about don't always make sense but that's one thing I like about his songs, they don't have any message, they don't need you to be super attentive to the lyrics, they're just goofy...
The themes range from dating with a zombie, his balls being the size of the moon, a grandmother on facebook. The songs also feature more popular references from time to time like games, movies... The cartoons always feature the same guy who looks like waldo from the where's Waldo books, and they are done very well in my opinion since they have the same goofy touch as the songs.
The one I like the most is the stereotypes song, which gave me a good laugh, not only because of the lyrics, but also because you know all of these stereotypes and that the song and more the cartoon perfectly depict them!

Another one I really like is 8-bit world, again because it is recognizable... And that aside, it just sounds very good.

There are many more where those 2 came from but if I'd put them all up then this post would probably be pages long...

If you like any these songs, they are available on itunes where you can download them for a dollar or less. And I do encourage you to buy them because supporting smaller artists is great and can help them grow!

That's all of it for today, see you later!

Ipad Dj'ing like a pro: iDJ Live

2011-09-23T16:52:00.000+02:00

Hey everyone!

In my last post I talked about the appBlaster gadget which transforms your favorite apple device into a real life shooter. Today I'm back with yet another gadget to get more out of your Ipad/phone/pod!
This is a gadget for those who like to make their own mix once in a while and want to go a little more pro than the standard apps out there.

The iDJ Live is a small mixing table onto which you can connect your Ipad, Ipod touch and Iphone. It features every thing a starting (and even more advanced) DJ needs, so that you can scratch, crossfade, cue and mix all you want. The iDJ works with the popular app Djay by Algoriddim, which allows you to use all of your favorite MP3's from your itunes library for your mixing pleasure. The standard package also includes an audio cable so that you can hook your setting up to the speaker of your choice.

Always wanted to give Dj'ing a chance, or maybe are you in need of new gear, well then head over to Numarks website and get this baby for the price of 99€ (= about 135$). The Djay app itself costs about 20$, which isn't exactly super cheap, but it definitely is worth the money in the end!

See you later, when I tell you about something else

Augmented reality Iphone gun

2011-09-21T12:00:00.000+02:00

Hey everyone!
Meet the appBlaster, a new gadget for those who want to give a new dimension to iphone gaming.
The gun itself is made out of plastic and requires no batteries at all, which is always good. So how does it work then? Well, first you put your Iphone (or Ipod touch) in the docking station, next you download the Alien attack application (for free!) and you're off! Shooting the alien scum in your own living room, or wherever you want!
When you pull the trigger you move 2 fingerlike extensions, which press against your iphone, resulting in ingame shooting. The movements you make are registered by the Ipone itself, so you can actually duck away to avoid enemy attacks! According to users, this gun isn't only fun to use, but will also give you extra movement while playing, much like WII fit and others.

Interested? You can make the gun yours for about 30$ at the online store Red5 , and as mentioned earlier the application itself is free in the appstore, the publishers also announced that they will release another 3 games compatible with this gun, for even more fun!

The best reality show exit ever: Jonny the werewolf

2011-09-19T12:00:00.000+02:00

Hello everyone!

Today I want to share a video which totally cracked me up... It's a video from the reality show "Ton of cash", and it features the exit of Jonny Sarhanis. In this show the contestants have to bring one million dollars from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, and they have to eliminate a contestant each week.
Jonny wasn't sad that he had to leave, instead he wanted to share some wisdom in his last moments... He decided to make a famous rocky quote.
There's nothing wrong with that, it is somewhat unusual but it isn't out of the ordinary... But what he does after that IS out of the ordinary, I guess he tries to imitate a growling animal or a werewolf or something like that, but all that comes out is a HNNGH-like sound... It is hilarious how he does it and that he probably is dead serious too... see it for yourself:

If you listen good you can also hear the director shouting CUT! CUT! while Jonny does his "sounds". I can imagine that the other contestants had a hard time not bursting into laughing, because I sure would laugh a hell of a lot!

That's it for today, see you later!

Zelda lost woods dubstep remix

2011-09-18T12:00:00.000+02:00

Hey everyone!
Today's post will be about something I thought I would never feature: Dubstep.
Why wouldn't I feature it? I don't really know, it's not like that I hate it or something... But it just doesn't appeal to me like it does to so many others... Then again I didn't really do any effort at all to find the better dubstep songs...
But here in the blogging world I frequently come across dubstep and some times I listen to a song or 2 and some of them are really good...

And recently a friend of mine linked me to a song of a DJ called Ephixa. It's a remix of the zelda lost woods song... Now, it might be because I am a huge zelda fan, but I really like this song despite it being a dubstep remix.
Here's a youtube link to the song itself :)

I also listened to some Ephixa's other songs and I must say that he makes some good music! Just look at his youtube channel and I'm sure you'll find something that will appeal to you :) (since it even appealed to me, a guy who doesn't listen to dubstep at all)

That's all for today, let me know what you think about it!

See you later
