Spiral Island adalah sebuah pulau terapung buatan di Puerto Aventuras, perairan Karibia. Pulau ini dibangun di pantai laut Meksiko, bagian selatan Cancun. Dibangun oleh seorang tukang kayu berkebangsaan Inggris, Richart (disebut juga "Rishi") Sowa, pada awal tahun 1998. Pondasi pulau ini adalah berupa bambu dan papan yang diatur sedemikian rupa, dengan karung jaring yang diisi dengan botol-botol plastik bekas. Richart menimbun pasir, dan menanam banyak pepohonan pada permukaan pulau ini, termasuk pohon bakau. Pada tahun 2005, pulau ini dihancurkan oleh angin topan Emily. Sowa membangun 'pulau' baruya di Isla Mujeres, Mexico.

Pulau aslinya memiliki rumah berlantai dua, lengkap dengan toilet, dan 3 buah pantai. 250,000 botol bekas yang Sowa kumpulkan, berhasil membangun pulau sebesar 230m² (20m x 16m). Pohon bakau ditanam agar pulau ini tetap sejuk, bahkan beberapa pohon tersebut tumbuh hingga mencapai ketinggian 5 meter.

Sowa adalah seorang pemusik, artis, dan tukang kayu.

Buku tentang perjuangannya membangun pulau dan filosofi-filosofinya yang berjudul "Spirologically Speaking" - ditulis oleh seorang penulis Jerman, Tanja Samed dengan Rishi sendiri - dirilis pada tahun 2008.

Pulau ini telah banyak diliput di koran dari berbagai negara, dan juga pernah ditampilkan dalam acara TV Ripley's Believe It or Not!.

"Jika Anda tidak mampu membeli pulau impian anda, mengapa tidak membangunnya sendiri?" itulah yang menjadi tujuan Richie Sowa membangun pulau buatan ini pada tahun 1998. Berbekal lebih dari 1/4 juta botol plastik bekas ia mulai membangun pulau impiannya yang dinamakannya Spiral Island, namun pada tahun 2005 pulau tersebut dihancurkan oleh topan emily.

Hancurnya spiral island tidak menghentikan niat Richie untuk kembali membangun pulau impiannya, pasca hancurnya spiral island pertama ia kembali mengumpulkan botol-botol bekas selama 2 tahun dan kemudian mulai membangun kembali Spiral Island 2 nya di mexico pada tahun 2007.

Dengan bambu dan papan triplek yang menjadi landasannya, ia juga membangun rumah 2 lantai dan juga menanam pohon-pohon di atasnya. Pada tanggal 7 September 2007, Spiral Islander social network utility sebuah situs jejaring sosial yang dibuat untuk orang-orang yang ingin mengetahui tentang Spiral Island baik dari sejarahnya, opini, saran, bahkan untuk mengunjungi pulau tersebut.

Usaha Richie Sowa tidak berhenti sampai disini karena setiap hari dia berusaha terus menambahkan luas pulau mengapung ini dan berharap suatu saat pulau ini dapat mengarungi samudra.

Robert "Bob" Nesta Marley was born on February 6, 1945, at Rhoden Hall in St. Ann, Jamaica.

As a child, he lived at Nine Miles in St. Ann, but moved to Kingston with his mother while still in his early teens.
They lived in the Trench Town area and he attended several primary schools. Bob was sent to learn welding at the age of fifteen but gave this up for music, which he dearly loved.

In 1964 Bob teamed up with Neville Livingston (Bunny Wailer) and Winston McIntosh (Peter Tosh) to form the "Wailing Wailers".

The group experienced many difficulties and membership changes, but eventually settled and called themselves the "Wailers". They formed Tuff Gong Label in 1970, which marked a turning point in their career. Soon the Wailers' reputation had spread outside Jamaica.

After the breakdown of the group in 1974, Bob formed his own group "Bob Marley and the Wailers". His success was Phenomenal and he was acknowledged internationally as the world's best reggae music exponent.

At the peak of his career, and with many hits to his credit, Bob succumbed to cancer and died on May 11, 1981. Shortly before his death, the government of Jamaica awarded him the Order of Merit in recognition of his contribution to Jamaican music.

Seorang gadis berusia 11 Tahun asal Amerika Serikat baru-baru ini melahirkan seorang bayi laki-laki."Putriku dan bayi baik-baik saja, dan bayi benar-benar tampan," kata ibu dari gadis kecil itu. Nama gadis kecil dan keluarganya dirahasiakan untuk melindungi privasi mereka.

Menurut Dr Manny Alvarez, editor kesehatan FoxNews.com, usia semuda gadis dapat menyebabkan bahaya yang signifikan(dalam melahirkan).

Sebuah laporan yang di publikasikan oleh Guttmacher Institute, kehamilan pada remaja di AS meningkat 3% pada tahun 2006. "Tapi kasus ini bukan hanya tentang kehamilan pada seorang remaja" kata Dr Abdulla Al-Khan, seorang dokter kandungan terkemuka "tapi ini tentang pra-remaja yang tubuhnya belum pada saatnya untuk mengandung bayi".

"Tubuhnya jelas belum mampu untuk menanggung sebuah kehamilan dengan perawakannya yang masih kecil," tambah Al-Khan. "Payudaranya secara ekstensif belum berkembang untuk menyusui, tulang-tulangnya belum cukup kuat untuk menanggung beban tubuh kandungan, dan kemungkinan terburuk bahwa hal ini dapat menghentikan pertumbuhan ibu 'muda' tersebut."

"Pikirkan tentang betapa sulitnya kehamilan untuk seseorang berusia 20-an atau 30-an ... sakit, nyeri, dan kurang tidur," Al-Khan. "Sekarang bayangkan hal itu terjadi pada anak kecil."

Belum lagi masalah-masalah psikologis yang terkait dengan pra-kehamilan remaja karena hamil pada usia 10 tahun secara mental belum siap untuk melahirkan, Al-Khan. Gadis itu masih bergantung pada keluarganya sendiri untuk mengurus dirinya, namun dia kini memiliki seorang anak yang bergantung pada dirinya. "Dia punya rencana hidupnya sendiri, dan belum ada kehidupan lain yang harus didahulukan," kata Ablow.

Menurut Institut Guttmacher, hampir setengah dari semua anak-anak usia 15-19 tahun di Amerika Serikat telah berhubungan seks setidaknya satu kali. Pada tahun 2002, sekitar 13 persen perempuan yang belum menikah usia 15-19 telah berhubungan seks sebelum usia 15, menurut penelitian think tank.

Al-Khan mengatakan, kemungkinan besar tindakan aborsi akan muncul dalam kasus ini, karena menjalani sebuah kehamilan beresiko lebih besar daripada melakukan aborsi.

Usia termuda pada kasus kehamilan anak terjadi pada tahun 1939 di Lima, Peru, Lina Medina berusia enam tahun saat ia hamil dan melahirkan seorang bayi.

Narita, Jepang - Seorang aktivis kemanusiaan asal Cina menghabiskan lebih dari tiga bulan tinggal di bandara internasional Tokyo mengatakan bahwa akhirnya pemerintah Cina memberinya izin untuk kembali pulang pada hari ini selasa(02/02/2010) .

Feng Zhenghu telah "menginap" di Bandar Udara Internasional Narita sejak awal November untuk memprotes penolakan pemerintah Cina untuk membiarkan dia pulang ke tanah airnya. Feng telah membuat marah pemerintah Cina dengan tulisan-tulisannya tentang dugaan pelanggaran oleh pemerintah lokal dan karena mendukung aksi-aksi protes mahasiswa.

Feng mengumumkan pada hari minggu bahwa ia memutuskan untuk mengakhiri protesnya setelah bertemu dengan para pejabat dari Kedutaan Cina minggu lalu. Tapi keputusan pulang/tidak itu belum pasti sampai keputusan itu dibuat pada hari selasa ini - permintaannya pernah ditolak delapan kali sejak bulan Juni.

"Para pejabat Cina mengatakan kepada saya bahwa mereka memberi saya izin untuk kembali ke Shanghai," Feng, 55, kepada wartawan di terminal bandara Narita

Feng mengatakan bahwa Selasa ini ia yakin bahwa usaha ini untuk kembali ke rumah akan berhasil.

"Aku tidak akan ditolak lagi. Itu akan sangat mustahil," katanya. "Kalau itu terjadi, itu bukan masalah saya. Ini adalah masalah pemerintah Cina."

Pada usaha terakhirnya untuk pulang, ia sempat sampai di bandara Pudong Shanghai, namun para pejabat Cina memaksanya untuk kembali naik pesawat ke Tokyo, dan tiba "kembali" ke Jepang pada 4 November 2009.

Meskipun memegang paspor Cina yang valid dan visa untuk memasuki Jepang, Feng menolak untuk melewati proses di dinas imigrasi sebagai protes terhadap pemerintah Cina. Dia menggunakan sebuah laptop dan ponsel untuk berbicara dengan pendukung dan posting di blog dan situs jaringan sosial seperti Twitter.

Amnesty International menggambarkan Feng, yang pernah menghabiskan waktu tiga tahun di penjara, sebagai seorang pembela HAM.

Berita tentang Feng menyebar, ia mendadak menjadi seperti selebriti, dengan situasi yang sama dengan peran yang dimainkan oleh Tom Hanks yang terjebak di bandara dalam film "The Terminal."

Tinggal di area terbatas didekat kantor badan imigrasi airport, Feng tidak punya akses untuk membeli makanan dan minuman, ia bertahan hidup dengan makanan dan pakaian yang diberikan oleh turis yang lewat. Dia menggunakan wastafel di dalam toilet untuk membersihkan diri.

"Setelah tinggal di sini selama lebih dari 90 hari, aku akan merindukan tempat ini," kata Feng. Tapi sekarang dia sudah siap untuk pergi, Feng berkata.

"Aku mau mandi," katanya. "Itulah yang ingin saya lakukan segera setelah aku pergi dari sini."

Kebahagiaan masa kanak-kanak Zara Hartshorn telah dirampas. Ibunya mengeluarkannya dari sekolah karena caci maki teman sebayanya. Baru-baru ini seorang sopir bus tertawa kepadanya ketika dia membayar ongkos bus dengan tarif anak-anak. Orang-orang melihatnya dengan tatapan aneh dan seringkali ia menjadi pusat perhatian di jalan. Anak-anak menyebutnya "nenek," "monyet" dan "keriput"

Zara masih berumur 13 tahun namun memiliki kondisi genetik langka yang membuatnya tampak jauh lebih tua dari usianya. Dia memiliki wajah seorang wanita dewasa, kurus dan keriput. Namun sebenarnya dia hanya seorang gadis remaja yang ketakutan.

Ibunda Zara, Tracey Pollard merasakan perasaan yang sama dengan Zara karena dia juga dilahirkan dengan mengidap lipodystrophy. Ia melihat tanda-tanda lipodystrophy di wajah Zara saat lahir, "Aku sangat sedih melihat anakku melalui hal-hal yang sama dalam kehidupan yang pernah aku lewati," katanya.

Lipodystrophy adalah penyakit genetik. Melalui garis keturunan. Lipodystrophy menghilangkan/mengurangi kemampuan tubuh untuk memproduksi sel-sel lemak di bawah kulit. Lipodystrophy dapat juga membawa/mengakibatkan diabetes, penyakit jantung, stroke dan gangguan liver. Tidak/belum ada obat yang dapat menyembuhkan pengidap lipodystrophy.

Masuk Penjara Gara-Gara "Google Camera"

Forget about all of those ubiquitous police surveillance cameras in your city: the new sheriff in town is that shifty Google Maps camera wheeling through your neighborhood.

Recently, a property owner in Canada was charged with illegal removal of trees after a Google camera helped capture the evidence, according to CanWest News Service.

Last May in Vancouver, Margaret Burnyeat allegedly hired a company to remove 23 cedar, cypress and evergreen trees from two adjacent lots she owned. Neighbors alerted the police, who found some stumps that hadn’t yet been removed.

Luckily for the city, one of Google’s Street View cameras — strapped to cars and driven through neighborhoods to photograph high-resolution, 360-degree images that are then linked to Google’s online mapping tool — caught some of the culprits in action.

The Google camera just happened to be passing through the neighborhood when the axing occurred and caught a truck on the site, as well as workmen and a row of fresh tree stumps.

Authorities say they’re uncertain whether they’ll use the Google image in their prosecution.

“Our city’s legal department is aware of that. How they will use that as evidence, I’m not clear. But it is an interesting new dimension, perhaps, of legal evidence,” a city spokeswoman told the news service.

The property was later listed for sale in September for $1,648,000, with a notation that there were “no big trees” on the lots. Burnyeat, her daughter and the tree cutter they hired have all been charged with violating the city’s tree law.

The law requires a permit to remove any tree above a certain size. Burnyeat had obtained a permit to remove only two of the 23 trees. The fine for illegal removal ranges between $500 and $20,000 per tree.

Ironically, Canadian authorities have been some of the most resistant to the presence of Google’s controversial cameras in streets. The company launched its Street View service in parts of the U.S. and Canada in 2007 and have since expanded to 12 other countries.

But after the Canadian privacy commissioner and others raised questions about whether the roaming cameras were legal, because Google collected identifiable images of people without their consent, the company implemented an automated feature that blurs faces and license plates. The company will also consider removing some images from its service upon request from the public or governments.

Peraturan Pemda setempat yang melarang penduduk untuk melakukan penebangan pohon baik di properti milik sendiri maupun umum tanpa seizin Pemda berujung ditangkapnya oknum yang melanggar peraturan tersebut dengan hasil jepretan google camera sebagai alat bukti.

Wah-wah, barusan abis ngulik-ngulik koleksi mp3 eh ktemu beberapa koleksi lama. Pure Saturday, salah satu virus yang nyetanin gw jadi suka Indie pop/Britpop. Sayang koleksi-koleksi lama kebanyakan dari kaset, malah banyak juga yang kaset hasil ngerekam ulang..sampe-sampe ngerekam dari siaran radio(Niat!!)hehe. Gak kerasa cepet juga umur gw nambah, dari jaman kaset sampe jaman blueray :P

I've been addicted to Punk Rock music since i was very young, i still remember when i started to play guitar with only 3 chords and never get bored with those 3 chords-ability punk rock songs. Camera Obscura is an indie pop band which formed in 1996 in Glasgow, Scotland. Currently the band consists of Tracyanne Campbell (vocals, guitar), Kenny McKeeve (guitar), Carey Lander (keyboards), Gavin Dunbar (bass) and Lee Thomson (drums).

The band was formed in 1996 by Tracyanne Campbell, John Henderson, and Gavin Dunbar and released their debut album Biggest Bluest Hi-Fi in 2001. Camera Obscura released a second album, Underachievers Please Try Harder, the following year, and in September, 2005, the band started recording their next album, named Let’s Get out of This Country, with producer Jari Haapalainen. This album was released on June 06, 2006 and appeared high up in many critical lists of the ‘best albums of 2006’.

In November 2008, the band announced that they have completed recording the follow-up to Let’s Get Out of This Country, and that the new album would be released in 2009. In February 2009, it was announced that the band had signed to the label 4AD, who released their fourth album, called My Maudlin Career, on April 20, 2009.

Akhirnya salah satu band indie pop asal skotlandia favorit gw ini akan melangsungkan konsernya di Indonesia. Mereka akan menjadi pengisi pentolannya event LA Lights Indiefest selama 2 hari di Bandung dan Jogjakarta, Tapi sedikit disayangkan karena mereka hadir bukan untuk konser solo mereka, tapi tetep gak nurunin semangat gw bwt hadir memeriahkan sekaligus mendukung band-band indie lokal kita nanti.

Band yang berhasil bikin gw jatuh hati gara-gara single "Lloyd, I'm Ready to Be Heartbroken" yang merupakan lagu "balasan" dari lagu Lloyd Cole and the Commotions' song "Are You Ready to Be Heartbroken?" ini hadir dalam rangka promosi album terakhir mereka yang berjudul "My Maudlin Career" yang di rilis oleh label baru mereka yaitu 4AD. Yang dimana Materi-materi lagu yang di tampilkan masih dengan ciri khas mereka dengan nada-nada chilloutnya yang paling enak didenger kalo lagi kesel di marahin dosen pembimbing (hehe).

Buat yang pengen dateng nanti ke acara LA Lights Indiefest nanti jangan lupa buat hapalin lagu-lagunya dulu biar bisa nyanyi bareng. Karena gw orangnya baik (:P) makanya gw kasih link download albumnya nih dan buat yg mau sekedar streaming juga nih.

The camera obscura (Latin for "dark room"; "darkened chamber") is an optical device that projects an image of its surroundings on a screen. It is used in drawing and for entertainment, and was one of the inventions that led to photography. The device consists of a box or room with a hole in one side. Light from an external scene passes through the hole and strikes a surface inside where it is reproduced, upside-down, but with color and perspective preserved. The image can be projected onto paper, and can then be traced to produce a highly accurate representation.

Using mirrors, as in the 18th century overhead version (illustrated in the Discovery and Origins section below), it is possible to project a right-side-up image. Another more portable type is a box with an angled mirror projecting onto tracing paper placed on the glass top, the image being upright as viewed from the back.

As a pinhole is made smaller, the image gets sharper, but the projected image becomes dimmer. With too small a pinhole the sharpness again becomes worse due to diffraction. Some practical camera obscuras use a lens rather than a pinhole because it allows a larger aperture, giving a usable brightness while maintaining focus. Originating from Bandung, West Java, Burgerkill were formed in 1995 and have been continually shaping the underground metal scene in Indonesia ever since. For 14 years Burgerkill have consistently been in the spotlight as a force to be reckoned with in Indonesian metal, from writing compositions for movie soundtracks to the successful publication of autobiographic novels. Charles Milles Manson (lahir 12 November 1934) adalah seorang narapidana yang pernah memimpin Manson Family yaitu sebuah kelompok Hippies yang lahir di California pada akhir tahun 1960-an yang hampir semua anggotanya merupakan wanita. Charles Manson didakwa bersalah atas dalang konspirasi pembunuhan Tate/LaBianca yang dilakukan oleh anggota kelompoknya melalui instruksi Manson.

Manson sering dikaitkan dengan kata "Helter Skelter", sebuah istilah yang diambil dari lagu The Beatles. Lagu The Beatles tersebut(helter skelter) menjadi inspirasi nya untuk mendoktrin anggota Manson Family dengan teori/skenario Utopia Paranoia-nya, ia menjelaskan bahwa helter skelter adalah pertanda akan datangnya perang ras antara kulit putih dan kulit hitam dimana peperangan akan dimenangkan oleh ras kulit hitam dan Manson lah yang akan menjadi penyelamat rasnya/keluarganya yang memang saat itu sedang gencar terjadi pergerakan kaum kulit hitam di amerika untuk persamaan ras atas hak sipil (afro-american civil right movement). Hal ini juga yang menjadi motivasi terjadinya pembunuhan aktris terkenal tahun 60an Sharon Tate dan pasangan suami istri LaBianca dengan alasan untuk mempercepat terjadinya helter skelter.

Pada saat Manson Family terbentuk, Manson baru saja dilepas dari penjara dimana ia telah menghabiskan lebih dari separuh hidupnya di lembaga pemasyarakatan. Sebelum melakukan pembunuhan, ia berhubungan erat dengan industri musik kalifornia terutama karena ia dekat dengan personil "The Beach Boy" Dennis Wilson. Charles Manson sendiri adalah seorang musisi dan pencipta lagu amatir, The Beach Boys sendiri pernah merilis salah satu lagu ciptaan Manson yaitu "Never Learn Not To Love", meskipun tanpa kredit untuk Manson. Baru-baru ini, artis seperti Guns N' Roses dan Marilyn Manson telah meng-cover lagu-lagu ciptaan Manson.

Alkaline Trio is a punk rock band from Chicago, Illinois consisting of Matt Skiba (guitar/vocals), Dan Andriano (bass/vocals), and Derek Grant (drums/backing vocals). Their music is characterized by dark lyrics, catchy hooks, fast tempos and recurring subjects of alcoholism, depression, shattered relationships, drugs and death.

The band formed in December of 1996, originally consisting of Skiba, Rob Doran (bass/vocals), and Glenn Porter (drums/vocals). 1997 saw the release of the band’s first EP, Sundials. This was followed shortly after by the departure of Doran. He was replaced by Andriano, who had been the singer for Tuesday and bassist for the ska band Slapstick. The band released their second EP, entitled For Your Lungs Only, in 1998, which began to build them a sizable fan base in the American Midwest. Later that year, they released their first full-length album, Goddamnit, followed by Maybe I’ll Catch Fire in 2000. Both were released on Asian Man Records. Also in 2000, the band released a collection of their previously-released EPs on a self-titled album.

Following the success of their Asian Man releases, Alkaline Trio signed to Vagrant. Joined by new drummer Mike Felumlee (previously of the Smoking Popes), From Here To Infirmary was released in 2001. It was their first album to see any interest from alternative radio and the mainstream media, with the semi-hit punk single “Stupid Kid” and the inclusion of the song “Armageddon” on the Tony Hawk’s Underground video game.

Seperti model NIN dan Radiohead waktu ngeluarin album "Ghosts I–IV"-nya NIN dan "In Rainbows"-nya Radiohead yang "cuma" melakukan join venture dengan ex-label mereka dalam hal distribusi tapi produksi melalui record sendiri.

Dan enggak terikat sama produser-produser epitaph yang terlalu sell out(imho). Awas We Go is an up and coming band from the heart of Las Vegas and are well on their way to the top. Though it is hard to classify them to an exact genre, they are easy on the ears and all generations can listen to them. They first originated in the summer of 2007, and the scene had no idea what they were in store for. "From their touching lyrics to their charming melodies, it's impossible not to like them." Says a local fan, "... not to mention the unique instrumentals." No need to worry though theres more where that came from. They hang like hangers and show on shelves, but they are a priceless item!

After several transitional periods, they found the perfect collaboration. Within all of the members is an unquenchable thirst of perfection. Their dream is, and always will be writing, performing, entertaining their fans, and challenging themselves.

Just when you think they are at their peak, they exceed all expectations. Constantly maturing in mind, body, and sound, they are relentless, and judging by their self critique, you would think they are restless. No sleeve is long enough to cover all of their tricks.

But these bad boys (and girl) have a soft side! While one day they volunteered to perform at the "Stop The Violence" Campaign, they also prepared for the XPOZ Battle Of The Bands show, supporting a smoke and tobacco free environment.

Away We Go! is full of surprises and start each day off by talking to their fans. Whether its their band or personal myspaces, which all five members are constantly cycling in and out of, cell phones, or simply attending shows to support fellow local bands, theyre communicating! Band asal kota judi nomor wahid ini merilis album EP nya melalui itunes pada tanggal 28 agustus 2009, dan kurang dari seminggu setelah merilis EP-nya mereka resmi menyatakan vakum alias hiatus sampai waktu yang belum ditentukan(pastinya). Padahal materi album mereka cukup bagus dengan mengusung aliran powerpop dan telah memiliki fans base yang lumayan di kota asal mereka karena sebelumnya mereka cukup aktif manggung di local scene sana. Kalau kalian suka tipe-tipe band macam paramore dengan vokalis wanita dengan alunan nada yang lumayan catchy, mungkin Away We Go dapat sedikit memenuhi kebutuhan konsumsi kuping kalian(halah).

This story started in 2002. When four 3th grade students, including Putra and Dhana, intend to form a band covering 311 songs, they also invited Angga a.k.a. Mankgo, to join as bassist. Then they asked their junior, Ndit, to join immediately, as the 2nd vocalist. Alter Ego eventually formed, with the initial formation of: Dhana (vocal), Ndit (vocal), Putra (guitar), Dedo (guitar), Dimsex (drums), and Mankgo (bass).

After a long journey, on July 2005 Alter Ego is reborn as Karnatra, and they started creating their own songs, and seize the opportunity to perform in a fairly prestigious event, A-Mild Live Soundrenaline: Reborn Republic, Prambors Nubuzz, and other events.

KarnaTra are combination of two words: 'Karna' means 'ear'. and 'Trah' means 'lineage' atau 'clan'/'wangsa'. 'Karna' also a character in Mahabharata Story "the archer-king," is son of Surya, god of the sun

Emirates is a indie band from Jakarta city based on west jakarta,that formed in 2006. The personel Oky, Nuki, Bayhaqi, Ade and Eko try to make a different way in music. The name of Emirates was taken from the miserable t-shirt which always wear by one of the Emirates member who dont want his name to be publicized. We are all agreed to use Emirates as the name of the band, because of Emirates identical with a multiculture country and we guess that we don’t have any option.Their music consists of distinctively emotional Sound and strong lyrics..but in early 2009 Oky has left the band and after view month Radith ( from hardcore band hell awaits and inside today) changes his position as lead vocal...and a new story has begin..

Salah satu Band Indie asal Jakarta, Jakarta Barat tepatnya. Dengan karya-karyanya yang bergenre Indie Rock Ambient dan Shoegaze hasil perkawinan silang antara Mew, Weezer dan Death Cab.

Wih ampir aja lupa sama band satu ini yang tanggal 8 Januari kemarin baru ngeluarin album ke-2 nya. Tapi sebenernya si rada2 sedikit kecewa sm band beraliran indie afropop ini di album barunya, jujur aja sih emang lebih catchy album pertamanya dan album ini kurang bertenaga.

Tapi bukan berarti nih album jelek, buktinya albumnya langsung nemplok di tangga billboard peringkat 1 di billboard top 200 dan ngejual 28.000 kopi di minggu pertamanya dan sekarang penjualannya kurang lebih dah 498.000 kopi, jumlah yang fantastis bwt band yang ttp konsisten melangkah di jalur independent label asal inggris yaitu XL record.

Wabah demam facebook memang semakin menggila. Kegiatan yang belakangan ini telah menjadi pola hidup sebagian besar masyarakat terutama masyarakat di kota-kota besar. Setiap hari disekeliling kita dapat menyaksikan sendiri orang-orang sibuk memencet-mencet tombol handphone/Blackberry/iphone untuk saling berkomen ria dan mengupdate statusnya apalagi sekarang ini internet semakin terjangkau bahkan dengan handphone "sangat" low end sekalipun.

Belakangan ini muncul trend baru yang cukup unik di kalangan pengguna facebook terutama wanita-wanita barat yang mengupdate status facebooknya tentang warna bra yang dikenakannya. Tidak ada yang tahu bagaimana dan siapa yang memulai trend ini.

Seorang Blogger asal Detroit mengakui bahwa "color update craze" ini pertama kali dilakukan oleh seorang wanita asal Detroit yang saat itu dia hendak menghimbau masyarakat melalui status facebooknya terhadap bahaya kanker payudara pada saat hari kanker payudara pada bulan oktober dan sejak saat itu wanita-wanita lainnya ikut mengupdate statusnya dengan warna bra yang di kenakannya.

hMayday Parade is an alternative rock band from Tallahassee, Florida. They formed when members of Kid Named Chicago and Defining Moment converged in 2006. Their debut EP Tales Told by Dead Friends was released in 2006 and sold over 20,000 copies without support. On July 10, 2007, Mayday Parade released their debut album A Lesson in Romantics. A Few Unique Ingredients To Make a Cosmetic Product

Make-up and common cosmetics have been around for centuries. In the old days cosmetics were at times, very dangerous, and could be fatal. Egyptian women would use kohl as a method to line and darken the eyes. Women throughout the 19th century would often use lead oxide and carbonate as a way to create whiter skin. Others used belladonna in their eyes in order to create a sparkle.

While cosmetics are meant to enhance beauty and make one prettier, the ingredients used aren’t always the prettiest. Some of these are very common while others are used far and between. However, it’s safe to say that these ingredients aren’t ones you’d probably think are in your cosmetics bag.

Scientists and cosmetic lines have found out that by using waste cooking oil, a certain type of surfactant is created which is then put into cosmetics. So what’s it do to make you a little bit prettier? Supposedly, the surfactant helps to regenerate damaged skin. Many of these companies will get the waste oil from fast food restaurants and cafés. A little gross but if you can put something to good use, do it!

If you’re a police officer or someone who requires some painful self-defense, you may know what Oleoresin Capsicum is. Better known as “OC spray” or just “pepper spray,” this substance is widely used in sprays by police men, law enforcement, and often hikers who may encounter dangerous animals. It’s definitely known for being painful, and even able to cause temporary blindness when it makes contact with the eye. However, the substance, usually extracted as capsaicin from chilies, is also used in cosmetics. If you’ve ever used a lipstick or lipgloss, or some other cosmetic that has a “tingly” feel to it, you can rest assured that it’s the oleoresin capsicum giving you that feeling. And no, shoving your lipstick in the eye of your ex boyfriend won’t keep him away.

Chicken bone marrow is just one of the many animal parts used in the making of cosmetics. It is said that chicken bone marrow is full of glucosamine, which is great to use on the skin as it promotes new healthy growth for a youthful look. Chicken bone marrow is also considered to be an anti-inflammatory. You’d more than likely find this product in moisturizers as well as face creams.

Ever used any type of cosmetic that had a shimmer to it? Maybe lotion, nail polish, or lipstick? If you have, that lovely shimmer you wore more than likely came from the use of fish scales. Pearlescence, as it’s called, is the silver shiny substance found in fish scales that is often used in cosmetics to give them that glow and shimmer. Herring is mainly used to obtain the pearlescence and today it is one of the most supplemented fish by-products in the world.

While you’re not likely to find cochineal dye listed as an ingredient in your cosmetics, you just may find carmine, cochineal, or carminic acid. If you find any of these ingredients listed, you probably are using a cosmetic that has some sort of red hue to it, such as lipstick. Though it seems pretty harmless, this dye used in a lot of cosmetics comes from cochineal beetles. The bugs are drowned in hot water, dried, and then ground to a fine powder. The crimson red dye is then extracted and used in whatever beauty product you can imagine. It’s also used in food products as well, such as gelatins, juices, and even candy.

As surprising as it seems, using semen in cosmetics didn’t just start. It’s been a long-time tradition to use cod sperm in lotions as it provides a quality that binds water. However, most recently, some companies and salons have begun to use nothing other than bull semen. According to a U.K. salon, bull semen provides any type of hair with a brilliant sheen that no other substance can match. The salon, known as Hari’s Salon, uses bull semen mixed with katria root, to neutralize the odor, and viola, shiny hair. If you’re up for some semen in your hair, take a trip to the U.K. with $90 in hand. Maybe the cowboys know something we don’t.

Looking for the fountain of youth? Look no further than foreskin. It probably sounds a little bit gross, and probably a little bit unethical to some, but human foreskin is actually used by numerous cosmetic companies around the world. In the medical field, human foreskin has been used for years as a method to cultivate new skin growth, instead of performing skin graphs on burn patients. It’s been proven to work much more effectively. The same method is also used in the cosmetics world. Companies, the most notable being SkinMedica, use foreskin fibroblasts in cosmetic creams and collagens, especially those made to reduce wrinkles. It is said that one piece of foreskin from a baby boy can be used to create about 4 acres of new skin.

3. Ambergris

Ambergris; sounds like something nice, maybe pretty, however, it’s everything but that. It’s actually a gray or black substance that is found in the digestive system of sperm whales, we’ll just call it bile, or “whale by-product,” both work. Despite its dark color and waxy texture, ambergris is said to have a very earthy and sweet smell to it. The substance was widely used in cosmetics, especially perfumes because of its smell. However, not many companies use it today as synthetic scents have become much more popular. Whoever decided to smell this definitely has some guts!

Who knew urine contained something cosmetic companies would flip over? Urea, a chief waste product of our body as well as from animals, is used in antiperspirants, moisturizers, mouthwashes, deodorants, and shampoos. That’s right; you’re getting all beautified with the help of an organic compound in urine! Urea is used because it is known to absorb, attract and retain water, and contains vitamins A, D, E, and K. Not only does it work wonders on sweat and moisturizing, it is also a great anti-inflammatory as well as a sun protection. Thankfully, most companies now use synthetic urea instead of extracting it from a horse.

If you’re Tom Cruise, a mom, or a father brave enough to stay in the delivery room, you probably know what a placenta is, and I doubt it’s something you want to remember knowing about or even seeing. Despite how disgusting they look, some people have actually found a new use for them: cosmetics. The company Plazan has created and manufactured an entire line of cosmetics made with human placenta. Why placenta? Apparently cosmetics that use hormones extracted from the placenta, such as Hyaluronic Acid and Protein Hydrolysate, help to promote tissue growth, which is very effective in removing wrinkles. As if it’s any better, our bodies don’t become reliant upon products with human placenta because it’s made with our biological structure, both those products that use animal placenta are another story.

Now, do you still wanna use that thick ass makeup on ur face again? lol

Queensland, Australia oleh seorang ibu yang sedang mengambil gambar anak perempuannya yang remaja makam. Tidak ada orang satupun pada saat itu, tetapi ketika gambar diproses muncul gambar seorang anak

Diambil pada tahun 1995 pada saat terjadi kebakaran di balai kota di Shropshire, Inggris. Difoto dari seberang jalan oleh seorang fotografer lokal, tidak ada yang aneh pada waktu foto di ambil tetapi saat negatif foto dicetak ia melihat ada penampakan seorang gadis muda berdiri di pintu masuk gedung yang terbakar. Petugas pemadam kebakaran melihat foto tersebut hingga mencari-cari sisa abu kebakaran untuk mencari sisa-sisa tubuh gadis tersebut, tetapi tidak menemukan apa-apa, semua orang bertanya-tanya siapa gadis di foto itu. Ada cerita rakyat lokal yang mengklaim bahwa dulu ada seorang gadis muda bernama Jane Churm yang secara tidak sengaja membakar balai kota pada 1677 ketika ia menjatuhkan lilin, dan sejak itu rohnya menghantui balai kota Wem selama bertahun-tahun.

Ketika mengunjungi makam ibunya pada tahun 1959, Mrs Mabel Chinnery memutuskan untuk menghabiskan gulungan film dengan mengambil gambar suaminya duduk di dalam mobil. Ketika negatif film dicetak, seorang sosok wanita muncul, duduk di kursi belakang. Weezer Sell Out Too Fvckin' much!!!

Pertama kali mendengar dan langsung menyukai Weezer pada akhir tahun 90an (Pinkerton), waktu jaman2nya gw suka banget sama band-band punk kyk Greenday, NoFx, The Queers, etc. Pertama denger lagunya yang El Scorcho di salah satu radio Jakarta, "Lucu jg nih lagu" dalam hati gw, berhubung gw emang suka banget catchy tunes di lagu2 gk pake lama langsung suka sama tuh band dan bsknya langsung minta duit sm nyokap ke toko kaset (jaman2nya kaset :P).

Saat itu weezer baru punya 2 album (Blue + Pinkerton). Selidik punya selidik setelah pny albumnya ternyata mereka gk jauh2 dari model2 lagu punk yang sebelumnya gw suka bgt(sampe skrg c :P). lagu mereka jg simpel (syarat penting di kuping gw) dan solo gitar yang lucu2.

Setiap doi ngeluarin album dan gonta ganti bassist gw pasti beli albumnya seenggaknya bajakannya (jaman cd bajakan mulai bny :P). Tp sedikit sedih gara2 matt sharp keluar dr band, jadi berasa kurang "ngegigit" di album2 sesudah pinkerton, dan gw juga suka sm band nya matt sharp yaitu The Rentals dengan catchy tunes-nya jg pastinya.

Namun setelah beberapa album yang gw beli, kok makin terasa klo weezer makin berubah dan terkesan sell out bgt. Album terakhir yang "masih" gw suka Make Believe (2005), setelah itu alur musik weezer makin gk jelas. Punya jg sih album2nya yang terakhir2, tp cm jadi pajangan di mp3 folder gw.

Jelas dan sangat di sayangkan bgt menurut gw dan ANEH, Rap2 gk jelas, R n B bleketek, ngejam sm rapper2, lirik yang norak2 banget. dan intinya weezer is selling out too much!. Walaupun secara finansial mereka lebih untung dengan album2 yang sekarang2 ini sejak Make Believe, tp gw merasa weezer bukan bwt konsumsi kuping gw lg (wedeh).
