Here's an easy way to install lxml on a shared WebFaction server:

mkdir $HOME/tmp

export TEMP=$HOME/tmp

CFLAGS="$CFLAGS -lgcrypt -fPIC" STATIC_DEPS=true easy_install-2.6 lxml

There used to be a Google Data APIs blog but they integrated with the Google Code blog at the start of the year.

I'm not seeing any mention there of recent changes to Picasa, though. No sign of a change log on the Code page for Picasa's API either, just a vague overview of differences between major releases.

Have to agree with you, this is pretty disheartening :(

Brandon,

As I'm sure you're aware, the Python Magazine site has been down for months. Is there any other place where the content from this article is available? I'd like to send some professors a link to both that article and your related editorial.

Thanks!

Thanks for the tip. I mount windows shares at work every day and never liked the root requirement. Can't wait to play with this.

An Ode to Forking

Linux is forking goodAnd Windows is forking not

I'm speaking of course, of a call in the sourceJust one of them has got

If you need your code to go down both roadsWhen choice becomes a Y

Then Linux is better, the one to get herforking, day and night.

Fork, fork, fork, forkFork, fork, fork forkForkety-fork,Fork-fork-fork.

If I were you I'd try testing under wine. It'd definitely be nice if there was an option built in for this though.

I was one of those Georgia Tech students that asked about DFS and BFS, and it was my friend that recorded the video and my brother standing to the left as the video pans.

Talking to you about Python was one of the highlights of our experience at Atlanta Linux Fest, especially how you went on to demo the Python to C interface and knew the timing libraries to test their relative speeds. Thanks for sharing your passion for Python with us!
