It's Been A While...but We've Got New Products!!!

Wow...it's been a while since I've updated the blog. With closing the large store, moving to the Treasure Chest, working on my final dissertation draft, family, illness and holidays...the blog just moved to the bottom of my priority list. Now, I have some new things to blog about, including new products. The store started as an aromatherapy and natural products store and I'm happy to say that we are adding back those products to our online offerings. I'm starting with bath & body products but soon I'll have an entire line of essential oils and other natural and organic offerings.

To start with, I have one of my favorite items that I want to feature, which is the Air Freshening Spritzer. The great thing about this spritzer is that it doesn't contain Phthalates, which is a chemical that can alter natural hormones. In a study conducted by NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), they found that many of the air fresheners found in stores, contain phthalates. For more on phthalates, check out WebMD.

How to Lead a Charmed Life!

I am so excited about the new items that we will soon be offering. I have been talking with our distributor about some of the unique ways that we can continue to build charm bracelets. One of the reasons that I can offer .925 Sterling Silver less than where you will find it elsewhere is that I deal directly with the jewelry distributor, so by removing the middle man, I am able to offer you fabulous jewelry at lower prices.

Some of the new items that we will be listing on our website is a new spin on the traditional charm bracelet. By using split rings (these are similar to a key ring, where you thread your key on the key ring), you can thread these around the charms and hang them on almost anything without sautering the charm, creating a unique bracelet that you can mix, match and change your look! You can hang them on charm bracelets, necklaces, the cuff bracelet for the Story Beads or even the Add a Charm Stopper Bead from Story Beads! This is such a great spin on a traditional concept. I have placed a few items on the website as I am preparing all of the information to post all of the new items. Message Beads from Story Beads

The message bead group is such a neat group of beads. It's a fantastic way to have a reminder on your bracelet for encouragement and support. There are 10 beads in the message bead group with sayings such as Faith, Trust, Believe, Love, Peace, Hope and more. What a very neat way to express yourself with a bead as a resolution.

These beads are 10mm .925 sterling silver and cost $21.99. These would make a great gift to someone to help them start a bracelet.

Still Telling a Story

This week, I received a new order of the wax seal charms and earrings from the Story Bead Collection. I really like the wax seal charms because you can do a couple of things with them, hang them from a necklace for an elegant look or hang them from a bracelet. These Victorian Wax Seal charms have an emblem stamped on them and a gemstone such as a pearl, peridot, onyx, amethyst, garnet and smoky quartz.

This seal, Forget Me Not, has a flower and a pearl and would make a very special gift to someone or to receive yourself. The matching earrings also have a pearl and the same flower. Tell Your Story!

The more I work with Story Beads, the more I really like the way these beads come together to create a unique story. This week I put two bracelets together for our two big college teams here in Alabama and they looked so cute! I will have them displayed at The Treasure Chest on Tuesday and available to purchase there and both online and phone orders as well. I have more tigers and elephants on order that we will have at The Treasure Chest too!

Another item that turned out really cute was this "Mom" necklace with the Mom charms, the two children and other pretty beads.

That's the cool thing about these Story Beads, you can make great looking necklaces as well. The boy/girl charm (51083) and the mother holding a baby charm (51079) are both only $18.00.

The Story Continues...

he Story Bead line continues to grow and I love how the manufacturer introduces new beads. Unlike waiting until Spring/Fall, Story Beads releases a nice "handfull" of beads every month and the line continues to grow! I need to update the website with some of the new styles that just came out on Thursday [yesterday] and plan to do that on Sunday. My online sales are really picking up and this is becoming a very cute way to build a charm bracelet. With all of the style choices that Story Beads offers, you can have something fun or something elegant.

The cuff bracelet is selling well, that's the only style that has sold so far online...which is a good thing. I will tell you, I really like how their stopper beads work. Story Beads at Two Sisters Gallery

WOW...I cannot believe it has been since May since I have written on the blog. The sign of a VERY busy woman. We've had a lot going on with our business including the *going out of business* sale to reduce inventory at our location on 231 S. and moving over to The Treasure Chest this week. I've missed writing the blog and am happy that I have things all sorted out now so that I am "back in business" both online and in a new location! I never really dreamed of being a retailer but the bug has set in and I just cannot give it up.

As many of you know, we started carrying Pandora Jewelry in our store in 2005, before it was even popular, and I worked diligently to spread the "Pandora word" selling charm bracelets. I have always thought that I was strictly a Pandora girl and with the five bracelets that I have built over the years; I still think it's a great line. Unfortunately, due to my work demands, we made a decision to stop selling Pandora and we knew that closing the location on 231 S, was inevitable since I have finished my doctorate (I haven't finished my dissertation yet) and started working with a university full-time in January. I just couldn't keep up with the demands of the retail store.

Anyway, I came across a line called Story Beads that I have absolutely fallen in love with, much like I did when I first saw Pandora. I think it's the whole concept of charm bracelets. I remember my mother had a charm bracelet when I was a child, with the children *heads* and other charms that had to be sautered on. That's what I loved about Pandora, the fact that you could create a charm bracelet and change it up, you weren't stuck with what you put on there originally, you could actually create something that could be modified.

There are plenty of other similar lines and while Story Beads is similar, it's different. It is .925 silver, it's less expensive and while some of the charms are similar, they are also very different. The coolest thing to me is their earring concept. I love that you can buy sterling silver hoops, that you can wear alone OR you can put Story Bead charms on them to create a different look. I LOVE the Story Bead earrings and when we were at the old location, I could not keep them in stock.

Are these not just the CUTEST earrings, ever? Before you have a chance to mentally say yes, I'm going to say...yes they are!

I'm so thrilled about the flexibility to be able to giveaway Story Beads to promote them, something that I was unable to do wih Pandora, I had a cuff bracelet with the "Believe" charm on it for the Facebook Friday giveaway to start off. In fact, I am so enamored with Story Beads, I am going to give away a charm for the next six weeks!

Keyfinders for your Cell Phone

I've not been able to be as on top of things as I like to be since I broke my ankle so I'm not at the store as often as I normally am, hence the reason I'm writing the blog today instead of on Friday. The upside to this great weather that we are having is that with my convertible, I can more easily grab my knee scooter out of the backseat of my car instead of wresting it out from the back seat when the top is up. Plus, I get to ride with the top down...boy do I love that!!! But, I digress. Today I am in the store doing some fill in orders for that great product line that we carry, Keyfinders...the fabulous way to always find your keys...have a cell phone finder! I am going to be ordering those today along with my keyfinder order.

Summertime is Coming!!!

Oh boy...it's warm here in Alabama and summer isn't coming, it's already here for us! I'm not complaining, well a little, since I still have a broken ankle and not able to enjoy the beautiful weather but only a couple of more weeks left in this crazy cast! I'm missing my flip flops since I need to wear something with a little more support on my left foot when I'm able to get around. We have so many great shoe styles at the store that I'm waiting eagerly to put on one of the new pairs of OkaBs and the newest Emma style shoes from Switchflops. We are getting new straps in every week to make your Switchflops "match" your outfit.

Finding Shoes That Love Your Feet!

I'm so excited that we got new styles of shoes in this week from OkaB shoes. We've been carrying OkaB for our third season now and I am huge fan of these shoes. There are a number of reasons that make these shoes so great, aside from being one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes I have, they are made here in the US in Georgia! The reflexology designed shoe developed using MicroPlast technology is a comfortable, fun shoe in lots of different styles and colors. OkaB shoes are vegan friendly and many are top-rack dishwasher safe, if they need a little "cleaning" up. You know what else? Once you are done with them, return them to OkaB to recycle! These are truly Shoes That Love You!!!

When I got the new catalog it was so, so hard to choose the ones I wanted to bring in to the store for our spring/summer season so I narrowed it down to two new styles and a favorite from last season. We have the Malia in Copper (I have this one and I love it and it's shown left), the Lucy in Pearl and Slate with shell flowers and the new Vivienne with a cloth Tahitian flower and a small heel to make this a perfect dress shoe. We have all three styles on our website for purchase and of course, in the store. If you have never worn OkaB shoes, you will not be disappointed in the style and feel of this fabulous shoe!

Celebrating Earth Day!

I've been a little lax in my marketing both on Facebook and the blog. I broke my ankle a week and 1/2 ago and have had other problems stemming from the broken ankle. I haven't had a lot of luck with crutches, so I've been ina wheelchair, which has kept me out of the shop more than I prefer to be. Five weeks and counting until I'm FREE again! Anyway...Earth Day is coming up on April 22 and it's always good to pick one thing that you might not be doing to start on Earth Day. Every little thing that we can do to help our planet can ensure that our grandchildren and children are able to live in a world with resources, including water!

I've had a project on the backburner for a while...offering organic seasonings and other organic products on our website. I would love to have fan feedback on whether you would consider shopping online with us for these products. Since summer is coming up, I thought I would share a great recipe for your feet...an organic way to keep your feet and heels soft:

Heel Softener

If you’re inclined to run around barefoot, chances are your heels tell the story. Use this mixture regularly, along with a pumice stone, to transform those rough, dry heels.

1 tablespoon cocoa butter
1 tablespoon marshmallow root powder
1 teaspoon beeswax
1 teaspoon avocado oil

Place all ingredients together in a non-metal pot. Warm until all ingredients are melted together. Whisk. Remove from heat and store in a jar, covered.

Saying Goodbye to Pandora!

Well...we're winding down our Pandora sales, Saturday will be the last day to purchase in the store and Sunday evening will be the last day to purchase from the online store! This is a very bittersweet time for me, I love Pandora but things change in our lives and we must do what we need to do for ourselves. I remember the first time I saw Pandora, it was about this time of the year because I remember my sister had my nieces at the beach for Spring break! I called her and told her there was a store in Destin, FL she had to go by to look at this Pandora line. So, she took a look and said, yes, let's have the Pandora rep come by and have a look. The Pandora rep for the Alabama region came in with this great, cool line for charm bracelets. I'll be honest, I've never been a charm bracelet fan, personally, but this Pandora stuff was tres chic! We ordered, on the spot, and decided right then and there that Gold Retailer status was the ONLY way to go. I have been a Pandora fan ever since the day I built my first bracelet for myself. The most fun I had was designing bracelets to display in the store AND I created my own Pandora catalog with photos of bracelets and photos of the charms so my customers would be able to see everything in one book and get ideas. I remember the rep commenting on how smart I was to have created such a great looking catalog...so I would like to think that Pandora took a page from my book when they started creating their own catalogs. I know they didn't, but it makes me feel good to think they did! ;-)

As I bag up that last Pandora charm on Monday as we get ready to send our stock back, I will remember all of the folks who have made Pandora a success for us over the years, because Pandora has been a very successful line and has continued to grow over the years. Thank you to our in-store customers and our online customers who we have had the opportunity to service and for making this such a wonderful experience. We could not have done this without you!!!

It's just time to move some things out to get ready for Spring...sort of like Spring cleaning! So, earlier this week, I went through the store and decided what need to be refreshed and found so many great items that I have decided to put on sale. While we do not carry everything online that we have on sale, many items we do have online.

One of my favorite items is the PuddleJumper gym bag by Lug. This bag is probably one of the most versatile bags and don't let the name fool you! NEW!!! Beanpod Candle Reed Diffusers

I love reed diffusers. I think they are stylish, contemporary and add continued subtle fragrance to the air. Since I only carry all natural products, sometimes it has been a struggle to find diffusers where the oils are 100% natural, meaning essential oils. I found K. Hall but learned that someone else in town was carrying that brand and since I refuse to carry anything anyone else has, unless I had it first and it is one of my top items, I generally won't re-order. The other problem I had was trying to find reed diffusers that weren't ridiculously priced. While I love the brand I had AND they came with 8 oz. of oil (that's a lot of oil), those retailed for $42.95...yes, there was a lot of flinching at the price of those but they were the least expense ones I could find that were all natural. Finally my wish came true, Beanpod introduced their new reed diffusers for the spring this year. Not only are they fresh and contemporary, they retail for $18.99...yes!!!! Since I already carry Beanpod Candles, it was just a matter of ordering them...they arrived on Thursday, just in time for spring.

They also fit into my natural product criteria as well since the sticks are made from natural reeds generated from palm trees, the porous fibers disperse our fragrances more effectively, enhancing your home.Available in Lilac, Aloe Vera, and Earthly Embrace.

Pandora Jewelry Price Increase & New Pendants

Well, all good things must change. Pandora Jewelry will be increasing prices on the charms starting March 1, 2010. We had been told it was March 8 but received an email today notifying us that information was incorrect and that it was actually March 1 when the new prices go into effect. Additionally, they are also retiring a LOT of charms in preparation for the Spring collection that will be coming in late spring. I plan to have everything moved over to the retired section by March 1 and will not raise the prices on any retired charm until the end of March, when they become more difficult for me to get.

Speaking of Pandora, I just received our new Winter release, which are the pendants that match the Mix & Match earrings. Pandora has loads of great new necklaces to put those on in 14K, Sterling Silver and colored cords. There are so very pretty pieces in the pendant group and I'm already eyeing a few myself!!! Here's a few to show...

What is interesting about these is that you can hang them on an existing necklace or even your Pandora bracelet. How cool is that! We'll have what we have in stock up on the website the early part of next week so you can see all of the styles.

New Lake Items!

As many of you know, we live in a the beautiful Logan Martin Lake community here in our area. Yesterday, we got some great lake items in to add to our current lake items for Logan Martin Lake. Many of you have oooohed and aaaahed over the 3-D wood carved pictures of the lake map but the price for these customized pieces can be a little pricey. I'm pleased to receive a smaller version of the map, 8 x 10 and framed, that is single dimension and cannot be customized but it's still a beautiful piece to hang in your house and very affordable at $58.99. We also received a new, larger clock that is a very nice piece as well.

For all of you lake dwellers who don't live in our community, we can offer you our catalogs via email and have items drop shipped to you, we have such a large collection of items, particularly our vintage walls signs too. These can be easily customized with your family name and body of water that you live on to give you a fabulous custom piece for your home on the water or at the beach!

I've got the Summertime Blues!

Yes, I have the summertime blues. I'm so tired of the cold weather here in Alabama that I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of warmer weather. I suspect that many of you northerners are definitely ready for some of the snow to thaw and give you some relief from all of the cold. I have the summertime blues so badly that I went ahead and ordered Switchflops to ensure I had them ready and in stock when the weather does warm up. We have a new style of shoes in, the Marie shoe, and dozens of new straps!

New Switchflops!!!

I got my new catalog and placed our spring order for Switchflops. It's hard to get into the *Spring* of things when it's so cold but those warmer months aren't too far ahead. With the new styles of Switchflops coming out, I just had to get a good jump on my ordering before the Dallas show next week so I would be guaranteed the arrival of everything I ordered. Here's a sneak peak at three of the new shoe styles:

The first shoe has an interchangeable snap, the second shoe comes in cork style as well and the third shoe comes in black. Aside from new shoes, as always, there are new style straps coming in as well. I'm excited about receiving all of these great new shoes from Switchflops and Lindsay Phillips!
