CBS has also chosen to retool the schedule, creating a 2 hour comedy block on Thursdays and moving Person of Interest to Tuesdays. The Person of Interest and Elementary combo on Thursday nights has made it the night I look forward to the most this season, so I’m not too happy that they are splitting up the dramas.

NBC has released the first trailer for The Michael J. Fox show. I’m a huge fan of Fox so this comedy is on the top of my watch list this fall.

The semi-biographical show centers around Michael J. Fox playing Michael Henry, one of New York’s most beloved news anchors, who puts his career on hold to spend more time with his family (his wife played by Breaking Bad’s Betsy Brandt) and focus on his health after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. But five years later, with the kids busy growing up and Mike growing restless, it just might be time for him to get back to work. Having never wanted Mike to leave in the first place, his old boss Harris Green (Wendell Pierce, The Wire, Treme) jumped at the chance to get him back on TV. The trick, as it’s always been, was to make Mike think it was his idea.

Now the plan is in motion and Mike will be back to juggling home, family, and career – just like the old days, but only better.

Writer Sam Laybourne (Cougar Town), director Will Gluck (Easy A, Friends with Benefits) and Fox serve as executive producers. The Michael J. Fox Show is a production of Sony Pictures Television and Olive Bridge Entertainment.

The Michael J. Fox Show is set to air Thursdays at 9:30 eastern.

The trailer makes the show look promising. It has a mockumentary feel, similar to shows like The Office, Parks and Recreation and Modern Family, which I think will suit this show quite well.

TV Line is reporting that Carell will not have a major appearance in the finale, but only a cameo. Carell’s reps are denying any involvement.

The finale, which airs on May 16th, has also just been given an extra 15 minutes to the original hour-long runtime.

The episode will take place several months after the airing of the Dunder Mifflin documentary has been shooting for nine seasons.

Dunder Mifflin’s past and present employees will come together for a wedding and a final round of interviews.

Mindy Kaling, Rachael Harris, Joan Cusack, Malcolm Barrett, Mike Schur, Bobby Ray Shafer, Andy Buckley, Matt Jones, Ed Begley, Jr., Dakota Johnson, and B.J. Novak, have all been confirmed as guest stars.

This isn’t the first time Leno left The Tonight Show. Conan O’Brien took over the show for a brief period in 2009-2010 before leaving the show. Leno, who felt forced out of the show, was given a prime time talk show that was mostly panned by critics. O’Brien went on a nationwide tour before starting his own late night show on TBS called Conan.

Personally, I still think Conan is the right person for The Tonight Show. Fallon, who has really good sketches on Late Night, just doesn’t seem ready to take on the big show. He can come across quite nervous at times, but I think if he is allowed to do the show like he does Late Night (including keeping house band The Roots), I think he can succeed, but will viewers tune in to see him over Letterman? That remains to be seen. As for what’s next for Late Night? Rumor has that the Lorne Michaels produced show will be hosted by SNL’s Seth Meyers.

Hosted by comedian Aisha Tyler, Whose Line Is It Anyway? will also feature the return of cast members Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie, who along with a special guest each episode, must put their comedic skills to the test through a series of spontaneous improv games,prompted only by random ideas supplied by the studio audience.

Smith, whose contract as the Doctor ends in November, is said to be setting his sites on Hollywood. He will be appearing in the upcoming Ryan Gosling film How To Catch A Monster. Smith will also be appearing in the upcoming 50th Anniversary Doctor Who special, which will air in November, as well as the current Who season that premiered on March 30th in the US.

Smith has grown to be my favorite Doctor. His energy and humor brought a great deal of fun to the character. His fourth year as the Doctor saw some major changes to the show. Last year saw the departure of his 3 year long companionship with Rory and Amy and this year saw the introduction of new companion Clara Oswald, portrayed by Jenna-Louise Coleman, as well as a brand new interior for the Tardis.

Producers of the show reportedly have some idea of who they want to replace Smith.
