(source: wacy archives)

The world of the rich and famous is fascinating for many of us. They lead the life many of us want and they do what we only dream of us. Being a food fanatic, this time we’ll have a look at the most expensive foods in the world, most expensive drinks, deserts or spices.

1. Saffron, a spice grown worldwide, is derived from the saffron crocus flower. A pound of dry saffron (0.45 kg) requires 50,000–75,000 flowers to make, meaning an entire football field of these flowers. Requiring so much resources and labor, prices for the spice go around US$500/pound to US$5,000/pound (US$1100–US$11,000 per kilogram).

2. The most expensive nut in the world is the Macadamia nut. The macadamia tree produces nuts only after it’s 7-10 years old, requiring fertile soil and heavy rainfall. These nuts have a very hard seed, but once it’s open it reveals a creamy white kernel containing up to 80% oil and 4% sugar. The cost of a kilogram of these nuts exceeds 30$.

3. The most expensive caviar in the world is not the black one, but the almas caviar! The word ‘almas’ is Iranian for diamond. Beluga caviar comes from a fish over 100 years old, that is virtually unchanged for 120 million years. The luxurious caviar comes from the oldest survivor of the Dinosaur era. Beluga caviar ranges in price from more than $5,000 per kilogram in the United States

4. The most expensive mushroom in the world is the white truffle. The mushroom has its origins in the Langhe area of the Piedmont region in northern Italy, it can reach 12 cm diameter and 500g. 5. The most expensive potato in the world is a French one, “La Bonnotte”. Annually, only 100 tons of this top quality potato are cultivated and collected only on the island Noirmoutier. The potato fields require to be fertilized only with seaweed in a climate shaped by the nearby sea. The cost of one single kilogram can reach €500 since this type of potato is almost extinct.

6. The most expensive beef in the world is the type of beef coming from the Wagyu cows. These Japanese cows are fed the best grass and provided the best treatment. That is why the meat is especially tender and particularly expensive. 200 grams of a fillet cost in Europe more than 100 dollars.

7. The most expensive sandwich in the world is the club sandwich from Essen aka von Essen Platinum Club Sandwich. This triple-decker delicacy contains the finest chicken, ham, hard-boiled quails’ eggs and white truffles and it’s currently sold at Cliveden, Berkshire. The chicken (poulet de Bresse) is referred to as the ‘fourth gastronomic wonder of the world served with a topping of white truffles, sold at over a thousands ponds a month. At 1,182 calories, with 1.8oz of fat, it’s not the healthiest dish but certainly one of the most expensive. Costing 100 pounds (almost 200 dollars), this is a must-try for the food fanatics.

10. Off to something sweet now with one of the most expensive deserts in the world, served at Serendipity 3, a popular restaurant in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The $1000 sundae was introduced in 2004 and was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most expensive dessert. It’s made up of 5 scoops of the richest Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream, Madagascar vanilla, 23K edible gold leaf and one of the most expensive chocolates in the world, Amedei Porceleana.

World Fastest Internet Connection Computer !

Sigbritt Löthberg, 75, Karlstad Sweden has a 40 gigabits per second connection ,which is the first time ever that a home user had such bandwidth to play with.

With a 40gbps line, about 1,500 high definition HDTV channels can be simultaneously delivered or a full high definition DVD can be downloaded in just two seconds !

This ultra-fast connection is made possible, thanks to a modulation technique which allows data to be transferred directly between two routers up to 2,000 kilometers apart, without a need for intermediary transponders.

Sigbritt, who had never even had a personal computer till now, is no ordinary elderly woman. She is the mother of Swedish internet legend Peter Löthberg.

Strangely Colored Beaches !

noreply@blogger.com (AMTRBZ) — Sun, 18 Jan 2009 03:20:00 +0000

SoMe Strangely Colored Beaches !

Unless you're lucky enough to have visited some of the unique shorelines below you'll probably be used to seeing - at best - golden beaches on your travels. In fact a lot of people believe golden sands to be the only option when it comes to beaches. To prove otherwise, and to show off a few of the world's most uniquely coloured stretches of sand, we present the following selection....

Punalu'u Beach

Punalu'u Beach is the most visited of the few black sand beaches on Hawaii 's Big Island and the stunningly black sand is actually volcanic rock, deposited as lava and subsequently cooled when met by the ocean. Apparently to take any of the sand home would result in you being cursed by a volcano goddess by the name of Pele.

Papakolea Beach

One of only 2 green sand beaches in the world, the truly magnificent sight of Papakolea Beach can be experienced by travelling to Hawaii 's Ka'u district. Again, the unique colour of its sand can be attributed to volcanic activity - specifically, the green hue belongs to the abundance of olivine crystals which have been produced as a result of a nearby cinder cone erupting and eroding.

See the beach on Google Maps.

Hyams Beach

You may need to wear your shades when visiting Hyams Beach in New South Wales , Australia , but not just due to the sun. It's not surprising after looking at photos but this sublime stretch of beach is home to the whitest sand in the world, an honour awarded by the Guinness Book of R eco rds.

Pfeiffer Beach

The hills surrounding Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur , California , are rich in Manganese Garnet. A result of this being washed down onto the beach is the colour scheme you can see above - the entire stretch of sand has b eco me a shifting, pink and purple canvas. Although it's probably inedible, I can't help picturing a bowl of Raspberry Ripple ice-cream every time I see it.

Kaihalulu

You won't find many beaches elsewhere in the world with sand as red as this one. Kaihalulu, or Red Sand Beach , is situated on the island of Maui and can thank the neighbouring cindercone hill for its intensely deep red appearance.

Some MosT Expensive Gadgets !

noreply@blogger.com (AMTRBZ) — Sun, 18 Jan 2009 02:55:00 +0000

Expensive Gadgets

This is the i.Beat organix Gold, a unique MP3 player created exclusively for Russian-Canadian billionaire Alex Shnaider. Dubbed "the most expensive MP3 player in the world", it has an 18 carat gold casing, studded with 63 diamonds.

However, it has only 2GB storage space, which doesn't seem much given the stellar price tag.

Cost: $20,000 (£13,250)
Total spend: £13,250

If you want to buy a gadget that just screams “BLING!” at anyone who enters your living room, there’s only one choice.

The name of the Yalos Diamonds LCD television is a bit of a giveaway, its frame is studded with 160 of those sparklies. Diamonds not your bag? Yalos also does a version with 155 rubies.

Cost: $130,000 (£86,000)
Total spend: £99,250

The Moon Rider watch might not look all that flash, but it has a secret. It's made from moon dust. Real, proper moon dust, from the actual Moon.

That goes into making the face of the watch, while the casing is created using metal from the Apollo XI and Soyuz spacecrafts. Just for good measure, the strap is made using fibres from old spacesuits. While prices start at 15,000 Swiss francs, a unique version will set you back 500,000 Swiss francs.

Its maker, Swiss jewellery firm Romain Jerome, is well known for creating unusual watches. It previously made a range of timepieces from metal recovered from the Titanic

Cost: 500,000 Swiss francs (£275,000)
Total spend: £374,250

Memory costs are dropping through the floor, which means any old Tom, Dick or Harry can wander around with 16GB of solid storage in their back pocket.

If you want your USB stick to stand out from the crowd, you're going to have to be a little more creative. That's where this tasteful little number comes in.

Its case is made of 14 carat gold and is studded with five polished diamonds. You can get a cheaper version without the gems, but when you're spending this kind of money on a memory stick why cut corners?

Cost: £2,950
Total spend: £377,200

With property prices collapsing around our ears, why not put your money in something more rewarding? This pair of Kharma Grand Exquisite speakers will cost about the same as a four-bedroom semi in Watford, but have the added bonus of making your music sound just peachy.

Cost: £266,500
Total spend: £643,700

Less of an iPhone more of a me!me!me!Phone, the Vertu Signature is the kind of mobile that would make footballers jealous of your wealth.

The gemstone encrusted phone is available in three different casings. Budget conscious shoppers will opt for the stainless steel model at €9,500 (£8,000), but those with a bit more cash to splash can go for the white gold version at €29,000 (£22,000).

Each has a "sea of sapphire" face that can only be cut or scratched with a diamond. So don't leave the phone in the same pocket as your golden USB stick.

Cost: €29,000 (£22,000)
Total spend: £665,700

There are plenty of expensive headphones around that are covered with all kinds of precious jewels, but these cans are all about the sound quality.

The Ultrasone Edition 9 headphones will sting you for a grand, but they use S-Logic natural surround, so the sound appears to be coming from the room around you.

Oh, and the ear pads are made from Ethiopian sheep leather.

Cost: $1,500 (£1,000)
Total spend: £666,700

Ego laptops are exclusive pieces of kit - the standard Tulip model goes for $5,000 (£3,250).

But if you want to really stand out, you'll be after the Ego Diamond. It's decorated with white gold, and embossed with 470 diamonds (including those in the tulip motif on the outside of the case).

Cost: $350,000 (£232,000)
Total spend: £898,700

If you're sporting a diamond-speckled laptop, you'll need a mouse to match. The Diamond Flower mouse is cast from 18 carat white gold and set with 59 diamonds - with a price tag to match.

Cost: €18,600 (£16,000)
Total spend: £917,300

There are plenty of music lovers who still consider vinyl to be the peak of sound reproduction. For those, the Continuum Caliburn turntable is the stuff of dreams.

It's a heavy item, with the record sitting on a judder-free platter that weighs 80 lbs. However, you won't have to move it yourself. The purchase price includes the Continuum installation team flying out to wherever you live in the world (they're based in Australia) to help you set up.

Cost: $90,000 (£60,000)
Total spend: £977,300

World Most Creative Buildings !

noreply@blogger.com (AMTRBZ) — Sat, 17 Jan 2009 05:28:00 +0000

World's Most Creative Buildings

The Basket Building (United States)

What started out as a dream by Dave Longaberger, Founder of The Longaberger Company, has been built Home Office into a giant basket to house the entire corporate offices of the company. Dave believed the idea was one of his best and would draw attention to the company, while simultaneously helping to build our brand. However, when he started spreading the idea of building a Home Office that was really a basket, he found that most people just thought that Dave was making a joke as Dave was a notorious practical joker. Not only did the bankers, architects and construction companies not take Dave seriously, neither did many of the employees who worked for The Longaberger Company, but Dave persevered. The dream was achieved on December 17, 1997 when the Home Office that is designed to resemble a basket finally opened for business.

The Dancing House (Czech Republic)

The Dancing House is the nickname given to an office building in downtown Prague, Czech Republic. It was designed by Croatian-born Czech architect Vlado Milunic in co-operation with Canadian architect Frank Gehry on a vacant riverfront plot (where the previous building had been destroyed during the Bombing of Prague in 1945). The construction started in 1994 and was finished in 1996.

The very non-traditional design was controversial at the time. Czech president Vaclav Havel, who lived for decades next to the site, had supported it, hoping that the building would become a center of cultural activity. Originally named Fred and Ginger (after Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers - the house vaguely resembles a pair of dancers) the house stands out among the Neo-Baroque, Neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau buildings for which Prague is famous.

On the roof is a French restaurant with magnificent views of the city. The building's other tenants include several multinational firms. (The plans for a cultural center were not realized.) Because it is situated next to a very busy road it depends on forced air circulation, making the interior somewhat less pleasant for its occupants.

The Piano House (China)

This unique piano house was built recently in An Hui Province, China. Inside of the violin is the escalator to the building. The building displays various city plans and development prospects in an effort to draw interest into the recently developed area.

Kansas City Library (United States)

Kansas City Library has one seriously cool facade. Local residents were asked to nominate influential books that represent Kansas city, humongous versions of the winning nominations were then used as the exterior of the library car-park.

The Robot Building (Thailand)

The Robot Building, located in the Sathorn business district of Bangkok, Thailand, houses United Overseas Banks Bangkok headquarters. It was designed for the Bank of Asia by Sumet Jumsai to reflect the computerization of banking; its architecture is a reaction against neoclassical and high-tech postmodern architecture.

The building's features, such as progressively receding walls, antennae, and eyes, contribute to its robotic appearance and to its practical function. Completed in 1986, the building is one of the last examples of modern architecture in Bangkok and has garnered international critical acclaim.

The Blue Building (Netherlands)

The borough of Delfshaven, Rotterdam, asked Schildersbedrijf N&F Hijnen to come up with a plan for a block of derelict buildings, which will eventually be demolished. The agreement with the neighbourhood is that the block will remain blue as long as there isn't a new plan for the area.

This was once one of the most unseen blocks of houses in Rotterdam, and by applying a layer of only 2 micron of blue paint onto it, it became Rotterdam's most photographed one.

The Astra House (Germany)

The strange building is actually a brewery in Hamburg, Germany. The floors can move up or down on it's skinny column core. As of now, the unique building has been destroyed. One of it's more famous beer brands was recently bought by a big refreshment corporation. And that beer brand was called Astra.

The Crooked House (Poland)

Polish architect of the Crooked House, Szotynscy Zaleski, was inspired by the fairytale illustrations of Jan Marcin Szancer and the drawings of the Swedish artist and Sopot resident Per Dahlberg. The most photographed building in Poland, the 4,000 square meter house is located in Rezydent shopping center in Sopot, Poland.

Sam Kee Building: six feet deep, world's thinnest (Canada)

The Sam Kee building is situated at 8 West Pender Street. It runs from the corner of Pender and Carral to the lane at the halfway point of the block. It is two storeys tall and 1.5 meters (six feet) deep. The story behind the building is as exotic as the structure with several intriguing twists and turns included in its telling. The City of Vancouver provided the original owner, Chang Toy, with a challenge when it expropriated all but two meters of his property as part of an expansion of Pender Street. No compensation was provided to its owner who was left with what most believed to be a useless property. In a creative turn of events fuelled by spite and some say a bet an architect was hired to design a building to fit the remaining property. The rest is history in more ways than one.

This building was home to 13 businesses at one time. It was the only place in Chinatown for residents to enjoy hot baths. There is a tunnel beneath the building that was used as an escape route from raids on Opium dens situated on neighboring Shanghai Alley. The building is also fronted by the only remaining glass sidewalk in Chinatown. As part of the ongoing history of this structure, issues still arise between the owners and the city with respect to encroachment and overhangs. In spite of each side having an element of right it seems to boil down to the proverbial "tit for tat". It makes for an interesting study in civics.

Buster Martin, United Kingdom's Oldest Employee at 102 Years Old

Still alive and kicking at 102 years old, Pierre Jean "Buster" Martin is considered the United Kingdom's oldest employee. He retired at the age of 96 and returned to work at the age of 99 because of boredom of retirement. He is still very active and works in a plumbing company as a van cleaner. He evenruns in marathon for the charity. Making him also the world's oldest marathon runner.
Buster, a father of 17, was born on September 1, 1906 and has been working for over 90 years. At a young age, he joined the British Army as a Physical training instructor. He is a veteran of the World War II having served in the British Armed Forces and retired in 1955.
He says, he still smokes and drink to this day having been started the vice at age of 7. (I thought it's bad for the health)
Buster Martin was born in France but, as a result of his teenage mother's illegitimate pregnancy or death, was sent to a Cornish orphanage, when he was three months old. Martin says that he picked up his nickname "Buster" at age three for "whacking a priest on the nose". Martin was thrown out of the orphanage at the age of ten "for eating too much and growing too fast". He travelled to London, and found work running errands for stallholders in the Brixton market, the beginning of nearly 90 years of work.

Mary Tilly and Evelyn Hodge, World's Longest Neighbours at 72 Years

Mary Tilly and Evelyn Hodge were recognized by Guinness Book of Records as the world's longest neighbors. The two have been neighbors for 72 years, and still counting.
"We have seen many changes during our lives together as neighbours – but fundamentally our homes are still the same as they were when we both came to live here." Mrs Tilley added: "I'm blessed to have Evelyn."

Robert Wadlow, World's Tallest Man in Medical History at 2.72 Meter

At 2.72 Meter or 8 feet 11.1 inches, Robert Wadlow is the world's tallest man in medical history. He was born on February 22, 1918 and died on July 15, 1940 at a young age of 22. He weighed 490 pounds at the time of his death.
The Alton Giant's size, as he was also called, was due to hypertrophy of his pituitary gland which results in an abnormally high level of human growth hormone. He showed no indication of an end to his growth even at the time of his death.
Wadlow's size began to take its toll: he required leg braces to walk, and had little feeling in his legs and feet. On June 27, 1940 (eighteen days before his death), he was measured at 8 feet 11.1 inches (2.72 m) by doctors C. M. Charles and Cyril MacBryde of Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
In his time, Wadlow was among the most popular of American celebrities; he was well-known due to his 1936 U.S. tour with the Ringling Brothers Circus and his 1938 promotional tour with the INTERCO. He continued participating in various tours and public appearances.

Tree of Ténéré, World's Most Isolated Tree

The Tree of Ténéré was once considered the world's most isolated tree before it was knocked down by an allegedly drunk Libyan truck driver in 1973. It was the only acacia tree within 250 miles and it served as a landmark on caravan routes through the Ténéré region of the Sahara in northeast Niger.
It was the last surviving tree of a group of trees that grew when the desert was less parched than it is today. The tree had stood alone for decades. During the winter of 1938–1939 a well was dug near the tree and it was found that the roots of the tree reached the water table 33–36 meters below the surface.

Songbirds' Throat Muscles, World's Fastest Muscle

Scientist have recently found that the songbirds' throat muscles is the world's fastest muscle. It can move a hundred times faster than the blink of an eye.
"[Pigeons] have really boring, slow songs, and it made me wonder what the muscles in songbirds were like, so I decided to find out."
What Elemans and colleagues discovered is that zebra finches and European starlings can change their tunes at frequencies as high as 250 hertz via direct muscle control.
This means that they are moving their muscles a hundred times faster than a blink of the human eye.

Salamander Tongue, World's Most Explosive Muscle

The giant Palm Salamander's tongue is the world's most explosive muscle. This Central American reptile's tongue muscles has explosive tongue thrust that releases over 18,000 watts of power per kilogram of muscle. Enough to catch even the most elusive insect.
Stephen Deban of the University of South Florida in Tampa said the secret to the tiny salamander's strength lies in its "ballistic" tongue-firing mechanism.
His team used high-speed video and implanted electrodes to study the prey-catching behavior of several related salamander species.
Much like an arrow shot from a bow, Deban said, the giant palm salamander's bony tongue is launched with an initial burst of energy and flies forward under its own momentum.
The "bow" is provided by elastic fibers in the salamander's mouth that stretch to store muscular energy and then release it all at once.

Erik Nordenankar's Self Portrait, World's Biggest Drawing

Swedish artist Erik Nordenankar claims his self portrait drawing is the world's biggest drawing. It was done using a GPS device stuffed inside a briefcase which he sent around the globe via DHL, with exact co-ordinates to draw the figure. When the package returned after 55-day journey around the world, he downloaded the GPS's route to produce the gigantic drawing which is composed of a single 110,00km long line that passes through six continents and 62 countries.
"In order to make the drawing that I wanted, I developed a GPS device with extended tracklog and battery time," Nordenankar claims. As "evidence" of his achievement he has posted the picture, his complete delivery instructions to DHL, two photos of his GPS suitcase and a photo of a wad of DHL delivery notes onto his website.

Hercules, World's Largest Lion-Tiger Breed at 900 Lbs

Hercules is the world's largest Lion-Tiger breed or Liger at 900 lbs and still growing. He can stands 10 feet tall when standing on his back legs.
He looks like something from a prehistoric age or a fantastic creation from Hollywood . But Hercules is very much living flesh and blood - as he proves every time he opens his gigantic mouth to roar. Called a liger, in reference to his crossbreed parentage, he is the largest of all the cat species. On a typical day he will devour 20lb of meat, usually beef or chicken, and is capable of eating 100lb at a single setting. At just three years old, Hercules already weighs half a ton.

Min Bahadur Sherchan, Oldest Man to Climb Mount Everest at 76

At 76 years old and 25 days away from his 77th birthday, Nepalese man Min Bahadur Sherchan becaming the oldest man to climb the 29,035-foot Mount Everest. He reached the summit of on the 25th of May 2008 and became the oldest person to climb the world's highest mountain.
He beat the record set last year by Japanese climber Katsusuke Yanagisawa, who scaled the peak at age 71. Sherchan was in good health and was descending from the summit, Chetri said.
The former soldier climbed smaller mountains before Everest and has been an active sportsman, Chetri said.
He said about a dozen climbers scaled Everest on Sunday following one of the busiest weeks in the mountain's climbing season.

World's Largest and Heaviest Emerald

The world's largest and heaviest emerald was displayed in Hong Kong. It weighed 536 kg and 125 cm in lenght, 55 cm in height and 78 cm in depth.

Manuel Uribe of Mexico, World's Heaviest Living Man at 1,200 Lbs

At top of his weight of more than 1,200 lbs, 42-year-old Manuel Uribe from Monterrey, was considered the world's heaviest living man in medical history. He is currently on The Zone diet under supervision of doctors and nutritionist, and is now slowly losing weight. He do exercise on his bed by doing dancing-like motion to speed up his metabolism.
Uribe is beyond the kind of overweight that comes from fast food and lack of exercise. Doctors call it morbid obesity.
According to the National Institutes of Health, obesity means weighing 20 percent or more than your ideal body weight, and it's a health risk.
Morbid obesity is altogether different. Sometimes called "clinically severe obesity," it means you're 100 pounds or more over ideal body weight, with a body mass index of 40 or higher.
Uribe doesn't gain weight like the rest of us. Brain chemistry, genetic mutation, addiction, psychological pain -- or an unhappy combination of all of them -- makes morbid obesity one of the biggest mysteries of medicine.

World’s Smallest Bowl of Ramen at 1 Micron in Width

This world’s smallest bowl of ramen at 1 Micron in width (1/100th the width of a human hair), contains dozens of 20-nanometer (1/50,000-mm) thick noodles. It was created by University of Tokyo professor Masayuki Nakao by using a metal particle beam to carve the bowl from silicon, and a mixed of soup of ethanol and catalyst inside the bowl to form the carbon nanotube "noodles".

Math Interesting Stuff !

noreply@blogger.com (AMTRBZ) — Thu, 15 Jan 2009 03:38:00 +0000

Math can be terrifying for many people. This list will hopefully improve your general knowledge of mathematical tricks and your speed when you need to do math in your head.

1. The 11 Times Trick

We all know the trick when multiplying by ten - add 0 to the end of the number, but did you know there is an equally easy trick for multiplying a two digit number by 11? This is it:

Take the original number and imagine a space between the two digits (in this example we will use 52:

5_2

Now add the two numbers together and put them in the middle:

5_(5+2)_2

That is it - you have the answer: 572.

If the numbers in the middle add up to a 2 digit number, just insert the second number and add 1 to the first:

9_(9+9)_9

(9+1)_8_9

10_8_9

1089 - It works every time.

2. Quick Square

If you need to square a 2 digit number ending in 5, you can do so very easily with this trick. Mulitply the first digit by itself + 1, and put 25 on the end. That is all!

25^2 = (2x(2+1)) & 25

2 x 3 = 6

625

3. Multiply by 5

Most people memorize the 5 times tables very easily, but when you get in to larger numbers it gets more complex - or does it? This trick is super easy.

Take any number, then divide it by 2 (in other words, halve the number). If the result is whole, add a 0 at the end. If it is not, ignore the remainder and add a 5 at the end. It works everytime:

2682 x 5 = (2682 / 2) & 5 or 0

2682 / 2 = 1341 (whole number so add 0)

13410

Let’s try another:

5887 x 5

2943.5 (fractional number (ignore remainder, add 5)

29435

4. Multiply by 9

This one is simple - to multiple any number between 1 and 9 by 9 hold both hands in front of your face - drop the finger that corresponds to the number you are multiplying (for example 9×3 - drop your third finger) - count the fingers before the dropped finger (in the case of 9×3 it is 2) then count the numbers after (in this case 7) - the answer is 27.

5. Multiply by 4

This is a very simple trick which may appear obvious to some, but to others it is not. The trick is to simply multiply by two, then multiply by two again:

58 x 4 = (58 x 2) + (58 x 2) = (116) + (116) = 232

6. Calculate a Tip

If you need to leave a 15% tip, here is the easy way to do it. Work out 10% (divide the number by 10) - then add that number to half its value and you have your answer:

15% of $25 = (10% of 25) + ((10% of 25) / 2)

$2.50 + $1.25 = $3.75

7. Tough Multiplication

If you have a large number to multiply and one of the numbers is even, you can easily subdivide to get to the answer:

32 x 125, is the same as:
16 x 250 is the same as:
8 x 500 is the same as:
4 x 1000 = 4,000

8. Dividing by 5

Dividing a large number by five is actually very simple. All you do is multiply by 2 and move the decimal point:

195 / 5

Step1: 195 * 2 = 390
Step2: Move the decimal: 39.0 or just 39

2978 / 5

step 1: 2978 * 2 = 5956
Step2: 595.6

9. Subtracting from 1,000

To subtract a large number from 1,000 you can use this basic rule: subtract all but the last number from 9, then subtract the last number from 10:

1000
-648

step1: subtract 6 from 9 = 3
step2: subtract 4 from 9 = 5
step3: subtract 8 from 10 = 2

answer: 352

10. Assorted Multiplication Rules

Multiply by 5: Multiply by 10 and divide by 2.
Multiply by 6: Sometimes multiplying by 3 and then 2 is easy.
Multiply by 9: Multiply by 10 and subtract the original number.
Multiply by 12: Multiply by 10 and add twice the original number.
Multiply by 13: Multiply by 3 and add 10 times original number.
Multiply by 14: Multiply by 7 and then multiply by 2
Multiply by 15: Multiply by 10 and add 5 times the original number, as above.
Multiply by 16: You can double four times, if you want to. Or you can multiply by 8 and then by 2.
Multiply by 17: Multiply by 7 and add 10 times original number.
Multiply by 18: Multiply by 20 and subtract twice the original number (which is obvious from the first step).
Multiply by 19: Multiply by 20 and subtract the original number.
Multiply by 24: Multiply by 8 and then multiply by 3.
Multiply by 27: Multiply by 30 and subtract 3 times the original number (which is obvious from the first step).
Multiply by 45: Multiply by 50 and subtract 5 times the original number (which is obvious from the first step).
Multiply by 90: Multiply by 9 (as above) and put a zero on the right.
Multiply by 98: Multiply by 100 and subtract twice the original number.
Multiply by 99: Multiply by 100 and subtract the original number.

Bonus: Percentages

Find 7 % of 300. Sound Difficult?

Percents: First of all you need to understand the word “Percent.” The first part is PER , as in 10 tricks per listverse page. PER = FOR EACH. The second part of the word is CENT, as in 100. Like Century = 100 years. 100 CENTS in 1 dollar… etc. Ok… so PERCENT = For Each 100.

So, it follows that 7 PERCENT of 100, is 7. (7 for each hundred, of only 1 hundred).
8 % of 100 = 8. 35.73% of 100 = 35.73
But how is that useful??

Back to the 7% of 300 question. 7% of the first hundred is 7. 7% of 2nd hundred is also 7, and yep, 7% of the 3rd hundred is also 7. So 7+7+7 = 21.

If 8 % of 100 is 8, it follows that 8% of 50 is half of 8 , or 4.

Break down every number that’s asked into questions of 100, if the number is less then 100, then move the decimal point accordingly.

EXAMPLES:
8%200 = ? 8 + 8 = 16.
8%250 = ? 8 + 8 + 4 = 20.
8%25 = 2.0 (Moving the decimal back).
15%300 = 15+15+15 =45.
15%350 = 15+15+15+7.5 = 52.5

Also it’s usefull to know that you can always flip percents, like 3% of 100 is the same as 100% of 3.

35% of 8 is the same as 8% of 35.

Some Great Pickup Linez !

noreply@blogger.com (AMTRBZ) — Thu, 15 Jan 2009 03:21:00 +0000

I'm standing at the Crossroads of My Life,
and I don't know where to go !!!

SOME GREAT PICKUP LINEZ !

I'm not drunk, I'm just intoxicated by you.

I was so enchanted by your beauty that I ran into that wall over there. So I am going to need your name and number for insurance purposes.

If beauty were time, you'd be eternity.

If I were a stop light, I'd turn red everytime you passed by, just so I could stare at you a bit longer.

Babe, your beauty makes the morning sun look like the dull glimmer of the moon.

You'd better direct that beauty somewhere else, you'll set the carpet on fire.

If I received a nickel for everytime I saw someone as beautiful as you, I'd have five cents.

For a moment I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Now I see that I am very much alive, and heaven has been brought to me.

Sorry, but you owe me a drink. [Why?] Because when I looked at you, I dropped mine.

You look cold. Want to use me as a blanket?

Can I have directions? [To where?] To your heart.

Do you have a BandAid? I just scraped my knee falling for you.

Be unique and different, say yes.

Do you have a map? I'm getting lost in your eyes.

Fascinating. I've been looking at your eyes all night long, 'cause I've never seen such dark eyes with so much light in them.

Most people like to watch the Olympics, because they only happens once every 4 years, but I'd rather talk to you cause the chance of meeting someone so special only happens once in a lifetime.

You're so beautiful that you made me forget my pickup line.

You shouldn't wear makeup. It's messing with perfection!

If I had a star for every time you brightened my day, I'd have a galaxy in my hand.

If a thousand painters worked for a thousand years, they could not create a work of art as beautiful as you.

You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.

Damn, if being sexy was a crime, you'd be guilty as charged!

I was wondering if you had an extra heart mine seems to have been stolen

There isn't a word in the dictionary for how good you look.

Me without you is like a nerd without braces, A shoe without laces, aSentenceWithoutSpaces

Is there an airport nearby or is that just my heart taking off?

When I'm older, I'll look back at all of my crowning memories, and I'll think of the day my children were born, the day I got married, and the day that I met you.

Are you from Tennessee? Because you're the only ten I see!

I must be a snowflake, because I've fallen for you.

Are you an interior decorator? When i saw you the room became beautiful.

There is something wrong with my cell phone. It doesn't have your number in it.

Baby, if you were words on a page, you'd be what they call FINE PRINT!

You must be a hell of a thief because you stole my heart from across the room.

Do you have a twin sister? Then you must be the most beautiful girl in the world!

You look beautiful today, just like every other day.

Excuse me, but I think I dropped something. MY JAW!

If you were a booger I'd pick you first.

Do you know what I did last night? I looked up at the stars, and matched each one with a reason why I love you.

Excuse me, I think you have something in your eye. Oh wait, it's just a sparkle.

If this bar is a meat market, you must be the prime rib.

Are you lost ma'am? Because heaven is a long way from here.

I'm fighting the urge to make you the happiest woman on earth tonight.

My love for you is like diarrhea, I just can't hold it in.

Hello, I'm a thief, and I'm here to steal your heart.

Hey baby you're so fine you make me stutter, wha-wha-what's your name?

I bet you $20 you're gonna turn me down.

I'm not actually this tall. I'm sitting on my wallet.

Do you have the time? [Tells you the time] No, the time to write down my number?

Would you grab my arm so I can tell my friends I've been touched by an angel?

Hey... Didn't I see your name in the dictionary under "Shazaam!"?

Rejection can lead to emotional stress for both parties involved and emotional stress can lead to physical complications such as headaches, ulcers, cancerous tumors, and even death! So for my health and yours, JUST SAY YES!

I seem to have lost my phone number. Can I have yours?

Hello are you married? [Yes] Well I didn't hear you say "happily".

You are like a candy bar: half sweet and half nuts.

Excuse me, but does this smell like chloroform to you?

Hello how are you? [Fine] Hey, I didn't ask you how you looked!

Did you clean your pants with Windex? I can practically see myself in them.

How was heaven when you left it?

Did you fart, cause you blew me away.

I don't have a library card, but do you mind if I check you out?

Hey...somebody farted. Let's get out of here.

I didn't know that angels could fly so low!

There must be something wrong with my eyes, I can't take them off you.

You are so fine, I wish I could plant you and grow a whole field of you!

Is your last name Gillette? Because you are the best a man can get.

Is your name "swiffer"? 'Cause you just swept me off my feet.

Excuse me, but you dropped something back there" (What?) "This conversation, lets pick it up later tonight.

Are you going to kiss me or do I have to lie to my diary?

Are you cold? You look like you could use some hot chocolate... Well, here I am!

If stars would fall everytime I would think of you, the sky would soon be empty.

Damn, if being sexy was a crime, you'd be guilty as charged!

You know, Dr. Phil says I'm afraid of commitment...Want to help prove him wrong?

Your lips look so lonely.... Would they like to meet mine?

Baby, you're so sweet, you put Hershey's outta business.

Can I buy you a drink or do you just want the money?

Did the sun come out or did you just smile at me?

So there you are! I've been looking all over for YOU, the woman of my dreams!

Do you believe in love at first sight, or should I walk by again?

Inheriting eighty million bucks doesn't mean much when you have a weak heart.

You see my friend over there? [Point to friend] He wants to know if YOU think I'M cute.

The only thing your eyes haven't told me is your name.

Excuse me, I just noticed you noticing me and I just wanted to give you notice that I noticed you too.

(As she is leaving) Hey aren't you forgetting something? (What?) Me!

Somebody better call God, cuz heaven's missing an angel!

Can I borrow a quarter? ["What for?"] I want to call my mom and tell her I just met the man/woman of my dreams.

Did it hurt? (Did what hurt?) When you fell out of heaven?

I'm sorry, were you talking to me? [No] Well then, please start.

I know milk does a body good, but baby, how much have you been drinking?

I play the field, and it looks like I just hit a home run with you.

I'm new in town. Could you give me directions to your apartment?

If I could rearrange the alphabet, I would put 'U' and 'I' together.

If you were a tear in my eye I would not cry for fear of losing you.

My lenses turn dark in the sunshine of your love.

Was you father an alien? Because there's nothing else like you on Earth!

What time do you have to be back in heaven?

Baby, I'm no Fred Flintstone, but I can make your Bedrock!

Wouldn't we look cute on a wedding cake together?

Your daddy must have been a baker, because you've got a nice set of buns.

Your legs must be tired because you've been running through my mind all night.

[Point at her ass] Pardon me, is this seat taken?

Was your father a thief? 'Cause someone stole the stars from the sky and put them in your eyes.

[Look at her shirt label.] When they say, "What are you doing?" You respond: "Yep! Made in heaven!"

Your eyes are blue, like the ocean. And baby, I'm lost at sea.

You know how they say skin is the largest organ on the human body? Not in my case.

My name isn't Elmo, but you can tickle me any time you want to.

You be the Dairy Queen and I'll be your Burger King: You treat me right, and I'll do it your way.

(Ask a person for the time) 9:15? So today is May 1, 2008, at 9:15 PM, thanks I just wanted to be able to remember the exact moment that I met the woman of my dreams.

Pinch me. [Why?] You're so fine I must be dreaming.

Ouch! My tooth hurts! [Why?] Because you are soooo sweet!

You must be from Pearl Harbor, because baby, you're the bomb.

You must be Jamaican, because Jamaican me crazy.

Do you know karate? Because your body is really kickin'.

When God made you, he was showing off.

You must be a Snickers, because you satisfy me.

Are you a parking ticket? 'Cause you've got fine written all over you.

Is your dad a terrorist? Because you are the bomb.

Are you religious? Cause you are the answers to all my prayers.

You're like a dictionary, you add meaning to my life!

Baby, you are so fine I could put you on a plate and sop you up with a biscuit.

Is there a rainbow today? I just found the treasure I've been searching for!

You remind me of a magnet, because you sure are attracting me over here!

Hey, is it just me, or are we destined to be married?

Hello. Are you taking any applications for a boy/girlfriend?

I have an "owie" on my lip. Will you kiss it and make it better?

Let's make like a fabric softener and 'Snuggle

I didn't see any stars in the sky tonight, the most heavenly body was standing right next to me.

Hi, my name is Doug. That's "god" spelled backwards with a little bit of you wrapped up in it.

If I could reach out and hold a star for everytime you've made me smile, I'd hold the sky in the palm of my hand.

Well, here I am. What were your other two wishes?

(Put your fingers on the other's nipples) Hey, here's (name), comin' at you with the weather. Can I be your warm front?

How much does a polar bear weigh? [How much?] Enough to break the ice... Hi, I'm (insert name here).

Well, I AM telepathic, and I can tell that you love me. Right? [NO!] Darn, I always get "love" and "lust" mixed up.

Should I smile because we are friends, or cry because I know that is what we will ever be?

When I look into your eyes, it is like a gateway into the world of which I want to be a part.

Hey baby. You got a jersey? [A jersey?...Why?] Because I need your name and number.

Hello, I'm doing a survey of what people think are the cheesiest pickup lines. So, do you pick 'Do you come here often?', 'What's your sign?', or 'Hello, I'm doing a survey of what people think are the cheesiest pickup lines.'?

(hold out hand) Would you hold this for me while I go for a walk?

This time next year let’s be laughing together.

Didn't I see you on the cover of Vogue?

Excuse me, I don't want you to think I'm ridiculous or anything, but you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. I just felt like I had to tell you.

Have you always been this cute, or did you have to work at it?

Hey baby, you must be a light switch, cuz every time I see you, you turn me on!

Hey, don't I know you? Yeah, you're the girl with the beautiful smile.

Was your father a mechanic? Then how did you get such a finely tuned body?

I have had a really bad day and it always makes me feel better to see a pretty girl smile. So, would you smile for me?

I hope you know CPR, cuz you take my breath away!

I just had to come talk with you. Sweetness is my weakness.

I think I can die happy now, cause I've just seen a piece of heaven.

Apart from being sexy, what do you do for a living?

If I told you that you had a great body, would you hold it against me?

I sneezed because God blessed me with you.

Is it hot in here or is it just you?

Nice to meet you, I'm (your name) and you are...gorgeous!

So, what do you do for a living besides always making all the men excited and warm all over?

Was your dad king for a day? He must have been to make a princess like you.

Were you arrested earlier? It's gotta be illegal to look that good.

Were your parents Greek Gods, 'cause it takes two gods to make a goddess.

What does it feel like to be the most beautiful girl in this room?

What's that on your face? Oh, must just be beauty. Here, let me get it off. Hey, it's not coming off!

Wow! Are those real?

Ya know, you look really hot! You must be real reason for global warming.

You are the reason men fall in love.

You know the more I drink, the prettier you get!

You know, I would die happy if I saw you naked just once!

You know, you might be asked to leave soon. You're making the other women look really bad.

You look like my third wife. [how many time have you been married?] Twice.

You make me melt like hot fudge on a sundae.

You should be someone's wife.

Were you in Boy Scouts? Because you sure have tied my heart in a knot.

Are you as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside?

I want to be your tear drop, so I could be born in your eyes, live on your cheeks, and die on your lips.

Babe! you look so fine I could drink your bath water!

You're so hot you would make the devil sweat.

If I had a rose for every time I thought of you, I would be walking through my garden forever.

Excuse me.....Hi, i'm writing a term paper on the finer things in life, and i was wondering if i could interview you...

If god made any thing better than you he keep it for him self.

Girl, if I were a fly, I'd be all over you, because you're the shit!

There must be a lightswitch on my forehead because everytime I see you, you turn me on!

Hey, how did you do that? (What?) Look so good?

Damn girl, you have more curves than a race track.

If you stood in front of a mirror and help up 11 roses, you would see 12 of the most beautiful things in the world.

If God made anything more pretty, I'm sure he'd keep it for himself.

You are so beautiful that I would marry your brother just to get into your family.

You look like a cool glass of refreshing water, and I am the thirstiest man in the world.

Are you a tamale? 'Cause you're hot.

You are so beautiful that you give the sun a reason to shine.

Do you want to see a picture of a beautiful person? (hold up a mirror)

Do you bleach your teeth? 'Cause your smile lights up the entire room like a candle in the dark. Let's go prove it.

Your ass is so nice that it is a shame that you have to sit on it.

Someone should call the police, because you just stole my heart!

Stop, drop, and roll, baby. You are on fire.

Baby, you're so hot, you make the equator look like the north pole.

Come live in my heart, and pay no rent.

If it weren't for that DAMNED sun, you'd be the hottest thing ever created.

How is your fever? [What fever?] Oh... you just look hot to me.

I just got dumped, and I think that you could make me feel better.

(Walk up to someone and bite them anywhere) Sorry, taking a bite out of crime. [WHAT?] Well it has to be illegal to look that good!

You are a 9 - you'd be a perfect 10 if you were with me.

Excuse me, I'd like to have kids someday, and I wanted to know how your parents created such a beautiful creature.

You're so hot, I bet you could light a candle at 10 paces.

My buddies over there said that I wouldn't be able to start a conversation with the most beautiful girl in the bar. Wanna buy some drinks with some of their money?

I can't believe I've been hear the entire evening with all these beautiful people and the moment I find 'The One', all I have time to say is "good bye".

Hey baby, you've got somthing on your butt: my eyes.

This isn't a beer belly, It'a a fuel tank for a love machine.

I don't know you, but I think I love you already.

You know I'd like to invite you over, but I'm afraid you're so hot you'll skyrocket my air-conditioning bill.

Here's the key to my house, my car... and my heart.

if we shared a garden, I'd put my tulips and your tulips together. (tulips = two lips)

Is your name Summer? 'Cause you are as hot as hell.

If I had to choose between one night with you or winning the lottery...I would chose winning the lottery...but it would be close...real close...

Do you have any sunscreen? 'Cause you are burning me up!

See these keys? I wish I had the one to your heart.

Stare at girl . ("What're you staring at?")
You, Before I Wake Up From this Dream.

You're hotter than donut grease.

Your eyes are as blue as window cleaner.

Are your parents retarded, 'cause you sure are special.

If you could put a price tag on beauty you'd be worth more than Fort Knox.

I must be dancing with the devil, because you're hot as hell.

I never need to see the sun again because your eyes light up my world.

If you were a steak you would be well done.

It's dark in here. Wait! It's because all of the light is shining on you.

Can you pull this heart-shaped arrow out of my butt? A damn little kid with wings shot me.

Hello. Cupid called. He says to tell you that he needs my heart back.

Beyblade The Movie - Fierce Battle

Screenshot

Description: The Blade Breakers (including their mechanic Kenny and Hilary Tachibana) go on vacation, but are followed by an annoying kid named Daichi who wants a rematch from a humiliating defeat earlier. Pokémon: Mewtwo Returns

Screenshot

Description: A while passes, and a now physical, but young, Mewtwo rests in an unconscious slumber of development inside a containment cell, next to a cell containing the glowing conscience of a cloned Amber. Mewtwo stirs in mind and begins to communicate with the artificial conscience of Ambertwo in a plane of limbo, and the two entities grow a personal bond. This exchange is tragically short-lived, however, as the inability of human science to recreate the human soul catches up with the project, and Ambertwo’s conscious fades into the darkness forever, but she leaves the traumatized Mewtwo with the advice that life is wonderful, and to be alive is the greatest gift he has. Mewtwo, confused by her departure, succumbs to grief and desperately calls out for Amber telepathically, and his brainwaves nearly overload the lab’s systems. Fuji immediately administers a hundred doses of serum, forcing Mewtwo to be subdued into an artificial state of calmness and ignorance of what just transpired. Fuji, emotionally broken by the now permanent loss of his daughter, is now intent on ensuring that Mewtwo, his brainchild, survives.

Teen Titan Trouble In Tokyo

Screenshot

Description: The Teen Titans spring into action when a new threat, the dichromatic ninja Saico-Tek, appears in their city. A chase across the city ensues, ending at Titans Tower. Saico-Tek is interrogated by Robin with the aid of a translation program, and reveals the identity of the one who sent him. The ninja then escapes his bonds and vanishes after destroying a fire sprinkler, and the Titans' only lead is to head to Japan and search for his mysterious master - the shadowy figure known as Brushogun.

Beast Boy is overjoyed to finally get a vacation, but once the Titans are in Tokyo, the language barrier poses some trouble until Starfire uses her inherent skill to absorb language by kissing a passer-by (much to the shock of her team-mates (not really Raven), especially Robin). With directions to Shinjuku thus acquired, the team heads off, but they don't get very far before trouble shows up in the form of "Gorgo," a gigantic reptilian monster that is tearing its way through the city. The monster shares the regenerative powers of Saico-Tek, and the Titans' abilities have no effect on it; thankfully, Tokyo's own super-normal defence force - the Tokyo Troopers, led by Commander Uehara Daizo - arrives to stop the beast in its tracks with an energy cage.

Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie

Screenshot

Description: The events of Battle City have just concluded, and Yugi now owns all three Egyptian God Cards. Seto Kaiba longs to finally defeat him, and he suspects that since Maximillion Pegasus created the Egyptian God Cards, he would have also created a way to beat them. Kaiba heads off to Pegasus' retirement castle, and challenges him to a duel, wagering his Blue-Eyes White Dragons for Pegasus' card that can beat the Egyptian Gods. Kaiba wins, and searches Pegasus' deck, finding two cards, despite Pegasus' assertions that there should have only been one. Meanwhile, Yugi, Téa, and Grandpa, seeking refuge from a mob of duelists wanting to duel Yugi for the Egyptian Gods, stumble into Domino Museum. They discover a new attraction on display, the Pyramid of Light, which resembles the Millennium Puzzle. Once Grandpa reads an inscription on the side of a sarcophagus, also part of the exhibit, Yugi has a strange vision about Kaiba. They wake up to find the pyramid stolen, the sarcophagus empty, and Mokuba standing outside. Mokuba says that Kaiba wants Yugi to come to the KaibaCorp Duel Dome immediately. Yugi does so, transforming into the Pharaoh on the way, and finds Kaiba ready to duel. He seals all the exits, forcing Yugi to duel him.
