Angel's Ashes - My Film

A year ago if anyone had told me I would be a published poet, the owner of a LBTQ entertainment website and the screenwriter and producer of a short film. I would have told them to go #$@!themselves, but that is the case and in less than two months my first film will be released.

My production company, ChinaDolly Production in partnership with Formless Film is producing Angel's Ashes, which is a action, drama short. It was written by me, Tamara Spicer and directed by my film-making partner, Lucky Cha. The cast is made of Sam Novak, Bonnie Owen, Kayla Navin and Chen Xiong and others.

Angel's Ashes is a story of love and survival of spirit and body. Five years ago after being honorably dismissed from the army, Max had come home to reconcile with her family when evil stepped into their lives in an evening she will never forget and changed her forever. Now love has once again beckoned, can she forget what once was and prepare for what life can be?

Angel's Ashes is currently in post production and will be released in part on YouTube and other video sharing sites, however the full film will be available for sale on it's website and other locals to be mentioned.

You may ask what the hell is PNT Tv? So I'll tell you simply that it's a lesbian, bi-sexual, transgendered and queer Entertainment and Lifestyle website. It is our mission to promote, display and share all Entertainment, News, Sports, Art and Music from the LBTQ community from around the world.

We feature lesbian vloggers and vlogs, popular LBTQ webseries, podcast shows and as well as lesbian radio and a battalion of international columnists. We have entire site together but apart from us called PNT TV2 or P2, which allows members to post pictures, videos, watch films and write whatever is on their minds without being censored.

PNT Tv's team of vloggers and bloggers spread across the world on 4 of the 5 continents on earth. We try to cover all topics as it relates to us and I think have so far been successful at that...we however are still looking for two persons to handle both a Literature and lesbian and lesbian-themed Couple's Fandom series. As you've probably guessed, I love all topics pertaining to or involving the LGBTQ communities of the world, especially my sisters and brothers being repressed and/or being subjected to varying degrees of oppression.In countries that refuse to recognize them and give them their basic human rights, I find it appalling...

Now that isn't to say that my own country has yet to follow the example of countries such as South Africa, The Netherlands, Sweden, Canada and three other countries that have passed Same-sex marriage laws. Although I am sure my country's breeder population is more tolerant than some, I still find it intolerable.

So if you are one of the fore mentioned or more precise a lesbian, welcome children. For this blog is the gateway to LINAB my blog solely about us, our music, our cinema and maybe, I can broaden your knowledge and re-envisage that you are not alone and that your world is alot bigger than you thought or were ever allowed to believe.

OK..Ladies have I got an article for you! One of my new favorite lesbian sites, Autostraddle, started their new Calender Girls collection at the beginning of the year, so we have a lot to catch up on. Julia Osen Averill (Broadway Star)

Julia Averill was raised in the hills of Oregon, where she busied herself with violin, ballet, Our Bodies Ourselves, reading every lesbian YA novel ever published and, obvs, theater. After a year at American Musical and Dramatic Academy Los Angeles and another at AMDA NYC, she settled in New York where she currently lives in an outer neighborhood of an outer borough but has a super-cute spiral staircase.
Currently Julia aspires to be a Broadway star while starring in productions at The Atlantic Theater Company and NYU’s Gallitan Festival, among others. She’s also taking more classes at The New School b/c she loves learning.
She likes eating miniature candy bars, singing all the time, Buffy, Masterpiece Theater, going to museums and “gaining as much experience and knowledge as possible.”

Carmen (Stand-up Comic)

Carmen is an Ohio native and Marymount Manhattan grad who does stand-up comedy all over the city. Carmen also enjoys eating pizza, reading, sleeping to dream, and writing a lot. Other passions include “erotic looking/tasting fruit,” Zen, truth, fishing, sweet wine, brunch, the color turquoise and fantasising about one day getting to do paintballing. Until her paint-balling dreams are realized, Carmen has settled for lazer-tag and other activities that spark & delight her youthful soul.

Also, she can be seen in the hit lesbian comedy, "Flick's Chicks." (as seen on PNT) But lord save me, she looks damn good in boyshorts, huh! Sarah also plays rugby and wants to be an activist for reals reals.

Allison (writer)

Alison is a 23-year-old aspiring writer who recently graduated from smartie school Stanford in California, where she majored in Film Studies and Spanish. As if that useful degree wasn’t enough, Alison is now applying to MFA creative writing programs to pursue her dreams of writing graphic novels & queer girl movies/tevee shows that don’t suck. Yup, Alison is our first Calendar girl who’s not some kind of model/actress, but clearly she’s a natural at looking good in her underpants. Presently Alison working for a non-profit in her hometown of Washington DC, where she writes for a science blog that aims to make all that complicated stuff like Nuclear Fusion more accessible for kiddos.

When she’s not making lusty facial expressions in the shower, Alison enjoys running, swimming, shopping, watching anything by Joss Whedon, and dancing around her room to Metric and/or Lil’ Wayne. Also, she’s single, and therefore we assume she is also prepared to mingle.

Nicole Pacent (actress)

In fact, she is slated to play a feature role in Mel Robertson’s Queens of the World (along with Elizabeth Keener, Tanya Roberts, Michelle Clunie, Meghan Hall & Autostraddle’s Nat Garcia), and the first season of the critical acclaimed webseries is out on DVD. check Amazon.
Nicole grew up in Connecticut and later earned her BFA in Drama at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she minored in English. She confesses to being a bit of a geek, she likes fantasy novels and Star Wars. A LOT!
Nicole recently posed for the cover of BOUND magazine as “the next Angelina Jolie,” was nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in the 2010 Indie Soap Awards, was the first runner-up for SheWired’s 2009 Gay Woman of the Year and obviously was a shoo-in for AfterEllen’s Hot 100.
For Nicole, “coming out” was never a question — she’s been honest about it from the get-go, and had her first serious girlfriend in high school. When not campaigning for LGBT Rights or tutoring kids in Harlem, she’s doing other swoon-worthy things like last October when she put together Relief Through Rock: Chicks for a Cure, a fundraiser for the American Association for Cancer Research.
She’s going to be super-mega-famous one day basically, so your calendar is going to be worth millions. Just saying.
THREE THINGS SHE'D LIKE TO CHANGE ABOUT THE WORLD:
I'd like there to be a cure for cancer so that it stop affecting millions of people every year; I'd like to put an end to intolerance and hatred that leads to racism, homophobia, and ill-acceptance in general; and I'd like to see abolished every city parking department in the nation. The first single off her new album, which was released on the 15th of this month. After taking four years off to raise her two small children, Sarah McLachlan is back with "Laws of Illusion".

Sarah back with a new batch of songs, the revival of her Lilith tour, and a fresh confidence to be even more emotionally honest in her music, she calls 'Loving You Is Easy,' "a real departure for me because it's so light and effervescent and frothy.... It's that delicious feeling of the possibilities of lust and passion and love. It's like being in high school."

She recently sat down for a video interview with Billboard.com.

The album is only one of the boxes checked off on McLachlan's summer to-do list. Her Lilith tour, the woman-oriented music fest she famously fronted in the late '90s, comes back from dormancy starting on June 27 featuring a lineup that includes a range of female artists from Erykah Badu to Colbie Caillat to Carly Simon.

The great news for Lezzies who love to love lezzy musicians, is that this time around there is a prolific number of queer women among the artist confirmed to perform. Out artiste like Tegan and Sara, Indigo Girls, Gossip, Brandi Carlile and Sia to name a few. All of whom number much more than was present in the original line-up.
"There are women in every genre (and sexuality, lol) having a lot of success," McLachlan says. "Why not celebrate that?"

This is just Sia's new song 'My Love' that's on the Eclipse soundtrack. Remember her album 'We Are Born', came out on the 7th of June. One month before the previously announced date.

THE OFFICIAL TRAILER OF 4.3.2.1

The movie "4.3.2.1", isn't exactly a LGBTQ movie but one of it's main characters Kerrys is a lesbian and from the trailer it looks like her love scenes are very visible.. which on any level is always good, especially if its depicted in a good way.

BIOGRAPHY

Sarah Bettens (born September 23, 1972, Kapellen, Belgium) is the lead singer of the Belgian band K's Choice. Sarah and her brother Gert Bettens, are the two popular faces of the band. She is known for her enigmatic, smoky voice. The band is popular in Belgium, the Netherlands and France, and had toured in the U.S. with The Verve Rope, Tonic, Alanis Morissette and the Indigo Girls, as well as on their own in the late ‘90s. Sarah has maintained a successful solo career as well by providing vocals for music soundtracks, including Underworld, Wild Things, Zus and Zo and more recently Leef! Sarah has had a large lesbian fan base since the beginning of her career with K's Choice, but it wasn't until May 2002 that she officially came out to the public.

MUSIC HISTORY

In 2003 K's Choice decided to split up, with siblings Gert and Sarah exploring solo projects. Sarah made a mini-album of her own, called Go. Her first full-length solo album, Scream, was released in Europe on March 14, 2005, and in the USA on August 23, 2005. K's Choice reformed in 2010.

In March 2007 she released an EP through online music label Fuzz. Her second full-length album, Shine, including new mixes of the tracks from the Fuzz EP, was released in 2007. It was produced by Brad Wood. The full CD was distributed for free with the October 13 edition of the Flemish newspaper De Morgen in Belgium, which sold 180,000 copies. Normally this newspaper sells 95,000 copies

In late 2008 Sarah released the album Never Say Goodbye, consisting of recordings of live performances of old K's Choice and Sarah Bettens songs, covers, and new songs which had been played during previous tours. The album is only available at concerts and from her online shop.

There were plans to license the single Come Over Here from her LP Scream for episode 409 of the American series The L Word. However, the plans fell through due to problems involving the songs' co-writer and record label. The song also appears on the premier Music with a Twist compilation (Sony).

After having played Michigan Woman's Music Festival in 2006 solo, she organized an all female band for a performance in 2007.

Sarah currently lives in Tennessee, USA.

The minute I saw this video on ESPN:60 I knew I had to see this again and too share it in my blog. The piece itself was very well done but the subject matter was what that captured my humanity and so I had to share it on my blog. As a woman and a lesbian it breaks my heart that the one country I knew that would have understood prejudice of all kinds, would have been South Africa, turned out to be a bad miss on my part. The plight of women, especially lesbian women are so demoralizing to me in that country. To know that South African men simply dismiss the pain felt by these women because they feel that lesbians want to be a man. So any crime perpetuated upon them they think is well deserved.. I would ask my blogs to please watch the entire film and comment on it, because I would love to hear what you all have to say about it. The subject matter is very sensitive but it has be brought up and I applaud ESPN for its work by bring this too the mainstream. The entire article can be viewed at ESPN.com

The interview was done in a five-part video blog by FaceCulture. At the end of the interview is a wonderful treat, for hearing Sierra and Bianca Casady is a lyrical journey into freakaville; Their live performance of “Fairy Paradise”.
I often wonder if they are on the edge of madness or they’re are more brilliant than even I have suspected. I personally think that Bianca is a genius and she is the driving force behind their encumbering artistry.
In fact I know it to be true because in this very said interview Sierra said as much, that her inspiration for the lyrics stem from the musicality of Bianca’s paintings. I‘ll let you watch for yourselves.

Biography

CocoRosie are two American-born sisters, Sierra and Bianca, who started making music together in Paris in 2003.
Sierra Casady was born in Iowa, and Bianca was born in Hawaii. When Sierra was about 5 years old and Bianca 3, their parents separated. The girls lived with their mother, Christina Chalmers, an artist and singer of Native American and Syrian ancestry who grew up in Iowa. They moved to new towns almost every year, living in Hawaii, California, New Mexico, and Arizona. Because their mother believed that the girls would learn more doing art in the "real world" than in school, neither sister finished high school. Chalmers nicknamed her daughters "Rosie" (Sierra) and "Coco" (Bianca), from which the musical act takes its name.
In 1998, at about age 18, Sierra moved to New York City. Two years later, she moved into a tiny apartment in the Montmartre district in Paris, France, to pursue a career as an opera singer, studying at the Conservatoire de Paris. During this period, Sierra lost contact with Bianca, who was living in New York City. Bianca studied linguistics and sociology, and pursued her passion of visual arts and writing. She also collected a variety of tattoos, and was known to attend controversially "ironic," white-held "Kill Whitey" parties in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
In 2003, Bianca was growing restless and decided it was time for a change. She left her apartment in Brooklyn to travel the world. Unexpectedly, she showed up at Sierra's apartment in Paris. Over the course of the next two months, the women spent nearly every waking hour in Sierra's bathroom, chosen as the most acoustic and isolated room in the apartment. Soon, they had completed their debut album La Maison DE Mon Rêve.
Originally, La Maison DE Mon Rêve was only intended to be distributed among a close circle of friends. However, by 2004 the lo-fi album was released on independent label Touch and Go Records, who had obtained a copy of the CD and had uncharacteristically, pursued signing the artists. Since the creation of their first album, the Casady sisters have been virtually inseparable.

Their latest, ‘Grey Oceans’ dropped today, 03/05/10, in Europe but is slated for a May 11th release in the US and the UK. This is the band's Sub Pop Records debut since their departure from Touch and Go Records. You can hear contribution of jazz pianist Gael Rakotondrabe on some of the songs. I loved the new CocoRosie completely.
Undertaker is one of the best songs they've ever created, It’s like a "Tekno Love Song". "The Moon Asked the Crow" proves that they love every style in music, as hunting lyrics and stunning instruments go by you find yourself in some other place dreaming.
