As I speak to you tonight, the fate of a proud and ancient nationhangs in the balance. For a thousand years, Christmas has beencelebrated in Poland, a land of deep religious faith, but thisChristmas brings little joy to the courageous Polish people. They have been betrayed by their own government.

I urge the Polish government and its allies to consider the consequences of their actions. How can they possibly justify using naked force to crush a people who ask for nothing more than the right to lead their own lives in freedom and dignity? Brute force may intimidate, but it cannot form the basis of an enduring society, and the ailing Polish economy cannot be rebuilt with terror tactics.

Ambassador Spasowski requestedthat on Christmas Eve a lighted candle will burn in the White Housewindow as a small but certain beacon of our solidarity with the Polishpeople. I urge all of you to do the same tomorrow night, on ChristmasEve, as a personal statement of your commitment to the steps we’retaking to support the brave people of Poland in their time of troubles.

Once, earlier in this century, an evil influence threatened that the lights were going out all over the world. Letthe light of millions of candles in American homes give notice that thelight of freedom is not going to be extinguished. We are blessed with afreedom and abundance denied to so many. Let those candles remind usthat these blessings bring with them a solid obligation, an obligationto the God who guides us, an obligation to the heritage of liberty anddignity handed down to us by our forefathers and an obligation to thechildren of the world, whose future will be shaped by the way we liveour lives today.

We are asking all whosee this to light a red candle or a red Christmas tree type bulb in acandlestick and place it in your front window so indeed all can seethat the light of freedom is not going to be extinguished in America.Please pass this along to everyone you know and perhaps some you don't know. Keep the candles burninguntil November 2, 2010 and take some time to think about the future of our nation.

Candidate questionnaire- please comment

The following questions for candidates were developed recently by a group of people. Please look them over and add any you think should be asked.

1. Do you believe the Constitution is the governing document for the US government detailing the powers and limitations of the executive, judicial and legislative branches? Y or N

Welcome to the Liberty 2010 website. This is a conservative politically oriented website based in Tallahassee, Florida. It is expressly non-partisan and non-profit. Everyone is welcome to visit and join.

Are you a conservative? If you're unsure, maybe this will help you decide. Do you agree with the following?

These are the nine principles from the 9-12 project.

Speaking of 9-12:

A "circular firing squad" is where you end up shooting each other. No one wins in a situation like that. We have found in many races that there are several conservative candidates running that agree 100% on the core principles of conservatism such as slowing and reversing the size of the government and fiscal responsibility. These candidates end up working against each other, and the non-conservative candidate reaps the benefit. The concept we are proposing is to "leave your ego at the door" and work together to determine who is the best candidate for an office. This may mean a Republican gets behind a Democrat, or a Democrat supports a third party candidate. We think the purpose of an election is to elect the candidate best-suited for the job of representing their constituents.

The idea here is a very simple one- we want Liberty in 2010. To accomplish this goal, we as voters must elect representatives that will be not only responsive to our input and concerns, but also responsible with our money. Since this has not happened in some time, we must educate ourselves about the candidates that will be running for office, be they incumbents or new to the political world. In order for candidates to effectively run for office, they should have a neutral meeting place where they and their supporters can discuss issues with each other as well as with others.

In order to allow for a real-time free flow of information, this website will host a message board forum. Registration is required for posting and is free. The rules are also simple:
