General Colin Powell is concerned. Apparently he is taken aback by the flurry and “number of programs that are being presented, the bills associated with these programs and the additional government that will be needed to execute them.” (Source). Mr. Powell is showing that his judgment is seriously in question with such comments about the man he supported for President, one Barack Obama.

It is not like Obama’s penchant for spending money hand over fist was unknown in the run up to the 2008 election. It is also not like Obama’s quest for more government control was a mystery either. Yet Colin Powell supported him anyway. Which of course has to beg the question as to why, if all these things were well known, exactly why he supported Obama in the first place if such things concern him? I hate to suggest that Colin Powell might be one of those voters who voted based solely on race, but the more he speaks, the more it seems that he doesn’t agree with much of Obama’s tax and spend politics and that starts to leave only superficial reasons like this one.

Powell actually had some cogent things to say such as admitting that the liberals he supported are basically drowning us in debt.

“And we can’t pay for it all,” said Mr. Powell, who was the first black man to serve as secretary of state, under President George W. Bush.

Welcome to the party Mr. Powell. Ready to admit that you made a mistake yet? No? I didn’t think so.

But for every enlightened point like this, Mr. Powell also rambled incoherently too:

“I don’t like slogans anymore like ‘limited government.’ That’s not the right answer. The right answer is: Give me a government that works,” he said. “Keep it as small as possible. Keep the tax burden on the American people as small as possible. But at the same time, have government that is solving the problems of the people.”

Hey, goober, “limited” and “small” are synonyms you doofus! So to say you don’t like terms like “limited government” but want “small” government just makes your intelligence come even more into question as you attempt to spin your inability to justify how if you support “small” government you would have supported Obama. Because he certainly doesn’t believe in such things. Plus it is not the government’s job to “solve the problems of the people.” You might know that if you get your head out of the sand. The government’s job is to defend and protect our liberties.

Just admit that you made a mistake Mr. Powell. You are embarrassing yourself.

Cynical as they are, the left is waiting with baited breath in the wake of Governor Sarah Palin suddenly announcing that she is stepping down from her post in Alaska. They are waiting because they are sure that despite the numerous attempts by a handful of opponents in the State to slap her with a scandalous tag, nothing has come … yet. But liberals are sure that something big must be coming down the pipe. Because no one would ever willingly walk away from power right?

Time will tell. But by all indications it looks like there is nothing except perhaps more frivolous claims and partisan attacks to come. And with Sarah Palin no longer an elected official the ability of her opponents to use the courts and state ethics boards as a way to distract her is dwindling. Now every time former governor Palin leaves the state to promote Alaska and the principles that got her elected there can be no more claims that she is not serving the State of Alaska. Such tactics are humorous as their fellow travelers in Illinois never once filled such complaints against then Senator Barack Obama as he was gallivanting around the country seeking the Presidency and promoting himself.

Don’t get me wrong. Sarah Palin is far from perfect. She has, at times, done things that I disagree with and her State has received a lot of unconstitutional money which she has not spoken out against at some times. But as far as potential candidates for future Presidents that the Republican Party has she is among the top ones. She is, yes, even ahead of Mitt Romney whose liberal progressive streak is showing the world how much socialized medicine fails as the Massachusetts system he helped implement is sinking like a stone.

I said yesterday that the left got their wish. Sarah Palin is no longer going to be governor of the great State of Alaska. But she is leaving on her own terms and not as a disgraced politician which is more than many can say. She has the left perplexed as their own corrupt politicians from Charles Rangel to William Jefferson to Nancy Pelosi continue to serve despite being proven crooks and liars and cannot bring themselves to just let go of power.

But on this Fourth of July it appears that Sarah Palin has been reborn and she has done what only a few great leaders have ever done – left power on the table when they did not have to. George Washington did this and stunned many people too because they had been so used to those who gain power clinging to it with every ounce of their strength.

It was a shot fired across the bow of the left today as Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin shocked the world by announcing that she was stepping down as Governor for no apparent real reason. The Governor has been dogged by ethics complaints filed repeatedly by her political enemies which have been an admitted distraction but also at the same time repeatedly found to be frivolous and completly dismissed when they got their day in court. Let’s admit it; the left hates Sarah Palin and they have been trying to drive her from office and the Governor has racked up huge legal expenses for someone not born with a silver spoon in their mouth like many politicians.

Well, the left may have gotten their wish, but not gotten their wish at the same time today

Yes, they may have succeeded in getting her out of office but not the way they wanted as a disgraced and convicted criminal. Rather she is leaving on her own terms it seems and with what appears to be a fire in her eyes that will scare her political enemies witless.

“I never believed that I nor anyone else needs a title to do this, to make a difference. I’m determined to take the right path for Alaska, even though it is unconventional and it’s not so comfortable,” Governor Palin said hinting that she is shedding what she sees as political baggage of being a sitting governor with children nipping at her heals and constantly badgering her to be free to pursue other interests without her political enemies being able to use the system against her without themselves being held accountable.

The inevitable attacks from the left have begun too now with this news complaining that Gov. Palin does not have what it takes to be a political animal. However we must go back to her time as a Vice Presidential candidate to see how well she handled the arena and that was pretty well. In the end this looks like nothing more than the lipstick wearing pit bull taking away an arrow from the quiver of those that will do anything to destroy people who are not wed to the idea of a socialist America.

The left is shaking wondering how they will take on a now private citizen browbeating them over the head and without being able to use their standard political tricks.

Psst. Here’s a secret that lawymakers do not want to you know about. They are spending your money to take trips and doing so in greater amounts than ever before!

In fact, although even under Republican control of Congress such spending increased as well (and as we all know most Republicans are fairly liberal too) it has gone completely bonkers since the Democrats took over in 2006. The Wall Street Journal reports:

The spending on overseas travel is up almost tenfold since 1995, and has nearly tripled since 2001, according to the Journal analysis of 60,000 travel records. Hundreds of lawmakers traveled overseas in 2008 at a cost of about $13 million. That’s a 50% jump since Democrats took control of Congress two years ago.

The cost of so-called congressional delegations, known among lawmakers as “codels,” has risen nearly 70% since 2005, when an influence-peddling scandal led to a ban on travel funded by lobbyists, according to the data.

Lawmakers say that the trips are a good use of government funds because they allow members of Congress and their staff members to learn more about the world, inspect U.S. assets abroad and forge better working relationships with each other. The travel, for example, includes official visits to American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Members of Congress are not the Commander in Chief so justifying visits to the troops on the taxpayer dime is a bit of stretch don’t you think? Likewise, inspecting assets would also be an Executive Branch function one would think. So what is the real purpose of these trips? You know what they are … sightseeing and vacationing on the backs of working Americans.

Yet you cannot get Congressmen and women to read a 1,300 page bill on the topic of Cap and Trade? Or the “Stimulus” bill before that? Or “TARP” before that? None of which should have even been passed because the authority for such things even in the Constitution? Perish the thought! They are too busy rushing off to work on their tans to be bothered with actually doing their jobs! Besides they have slaves … I mean peons … I mean staffers who will tell them all about it right?

Now where’s that mojito? Hey! Is that a conga line? Wooo hoooo! PAAAAARTAAAAYYYYY!

Senator Bobby Casey has taken it upon himself to determine that I am interested in receiving emails from him about what he thinks are important things. Liberals seem to have this habit of just adding me to their mailing lists like this and imposing themselves into my daily life so why should Senator Casey be any different I suppose.

Anyway, Mr. Casey, whom I hesitate to call Senator because that is a title reserved for smart men of honor serving the people of these United States, sent me his latest little email news blast titled: “Barack & Bob” subtitled: “5 months of progress.” Hey, no one ever said liberals could tell the truth.

In it Mr. Casey promotes what he calls progress but what is actually typical liberal extra-constitutional “accomplishments” that destroy limited government and increase power over the people. But to him this is what he, as a liberal, calls “progress.”

He highlights “accomplishments” since our savior, Barack Obama, became President. These include:

The Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act – This is an unconstitutional impediment in the realm of contracts which impedes the liberty of two private parties to agree to terms both agree is fair or part ways and choose not to do business together. There is no authority for “wage” controls any in the Constitution so don’t ask Mr. Casey to try and defend this action with anything resembling a reasoned thought or facts.

The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act – This is yet another unconstitutional law that “expanded opportunities for volunteerism and national service” and is yet another thing that exists no where within the powers of the federal government to promote or meddle in.

The Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act – This is one of those laws that sounds really swell when it comes out of the mouths of liberals but once again has little real constitutional basis behind it. According to Casey this bill is great because it improves, “enforcement against mortgage fraud, securities and commodities fraud, and financial institution fraud.” The problem is that of course that our federal government has no right to delve into such regulation. Go ahead and look under every article of the Constitution if you like but you won’t find this power listed anywhere.

The Helping Families Save Their Homes Act – It sounds so nice but once again is something that our government has no authority to meddle in. The bill “helps prevent mortgage foreclosures and makes mortgage credit more available to most people.” So it is more of the same that got us into trouble in the first place proving that politicians do not care about reality, just buying votes. Easy mortgages to people that could not afford them was what started all this remember Mr. Casey?

The Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act – Yes, another one of those feel good laws. Unfortunately what this law does is that it meddles with private contracts between two or more parties. Read the Constitution and you will see the founding fathers specifically forbade such interference by the states and never granted the power to the federal government (Article I, Section 10). Senators like Mr. Casey claim that credit card companies were acting “unfairly” when all they were doing was abiding by their own contracts which each of us agree to when we sign up for those little pieces of plastic. We may not like the terms but we often agree to them. And if you are like me, you just stop using the card that has ticked you off by increasing your rate in favor of another one. But apparently some people are not able to adopt a simple free market solution and prefer government interference beyond their Constitutional powers.

The Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act – I don’t smoke beyond a cigar every couple of months but even I am offended by the government and Mr. Casey trying to promote this as a good thing. Of course the myth that smoking “causes” cancer (although it does increase the risk of it) has been readily debunked except in the eyes all but the anti-smoking zealots. All this law is is nothing more than another unconstitutional power grab. Go ahead and show me where in the Constitution the federal government is given the right to regulate a product like tobacco.

And then of course Mr. Casey is salivating over his chance to show his ignorance over the myth of manmade global warming!

American Clean Energy and Security Act – Which Mr. Casey boldly promotes as, “a bill to reduce global warming pollution and transition to a clean energy economy. The Senate will be considering similar legislation in the coming months.” Uh, anyone want to point out where in the Constitution Congress has any authority to determine what products and services Americans use and where they are given power to “transition” the economy to what they think it should be? It is not bad enough I suppose that the myth of manmade global warming has been utterly debunked except to the disciples of Al Gore either.

In conclusion, Bobby Casey continues to prove that he is a boy among the men of the world. He continues to act counter to liberty and promotes government intervention beyond the powers of our Constitution for his own betterment and security in his seat of power by spending us into oblivion. But he will be re-elected time and again by the people of Pennsylvania because he has a (D) next to his name. His actually qualifications and ability to uphold the Constitution and promote liberty be damned. Yet he boldly sits there from on high and brags about his heinous acts against this Republic.

Now where’s this hand basket headed again?

It is also about the same percentage of Americans that actually think America is on the right track according to another Rasmussen poll. The left is orgasmic about her nomination and know that she will continue to take America where they want it to go. As for the rest of America however? Well, despite a lot of people who voted for Obama, once again we see that his decisions are not very popular at all.

But hey, that is what you get for voting for a man just to be part of history!

The Banana Republics of America, who call themselves the Organization of American States, have already sided with Hugo Chavez wannabe and now ex-president Jose Manuel Zelaya Rosales demanding he be reinstated in Honduras within 72 hours or else Honduras will be barred from the group. The OAS contains states lead by the Castro Boys (Cuba), Hugo Chavez (Venezuela) and other assorted thugs. It also includes the United States.

Recap of events:

Ex-President Rosales tried to illegally call for a referendum that would rewrite the country’s constitution.
The Supreme Court ruled the act illegal (citing the Honduras Constituition which places such power only within the hands of their equivalent to our Congress) and ordered the military to arrest anyone carrying out the illegal vote.
Ex-President Rosales in a typical left wing hissy fit removed the general from power.
The Supreme Court reinstated him.
The ex-president tried to storm the location where the ballots were being stored with his own version of ACORN.
He was arrested in accordance with the order and deported.

Which brings us to today and the OAS as well as the UN (and the United States) actually supporting the deposed wanna-be tyrant who acted unconstitutionally!

Fact, there was no “military coup” as has been repeated by left wing hacks and the Obama Media. The Military of Honduras never took control of the country and immediately after the ex-president was rightfully deposed for his illegal acts the Honduras congress, in accordance with the law, temprorarily placed their President into power while maintaining this November’s elections for President as scheduled. Everything actually went very smoothly although you have Rosales lackies and goons attempting to cause problems at the moment because, as is always the case with the left, they are upset they were not allowed to just do whatever they wanted to do.

Yet here we are, united as a world almost universally condemning a nation defending its own laws and founding documents? Are we insane? The answer is yes.

Fight on brave people of Honduras! Even though we may have differences of opinions as to whether or not all of your country’s laws are correct but on this issue many of us around the world stand with you. Even if our leaders are spineless cowards who really are just condemning you because they fear their own people will one day rise up against their own illegal actions.

Yes, Al-Qaeda is pissed off thanks to French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s recent remarks about the burqa not being welcome in his country. Now, I have already talked about this and spoken my piece about my thoughts on that pronouncement and that as a blanket statement it is pretty silly and not something a government should be involved in making policy.

However, as we all know this was bound to offend radical Muslims as talking about the burqa not being welcome is indeed item number 234,506 on the list of 1,452,121 things that drive radical Muslims completely insane. Thus we have a statement from the nut balls:

“Yesterday was the hijab (the Islamic headscarf long banned in French schools) and today, it is the niqab (the full veil),” Abu Musab Abdul Wadud, head of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb was quoted as saying.

“We will take revenge for the honour of our daughters and sisters against France and against its interests by every means at our disposal.“

No response yet as to whether or not the French have decided to surrender based on this strongly worded condemnation.

I hear it all the time when I talk about needing to get tough on Iran. And I mean really tough like kick their ass kind of tough not the, “Now you naughty boys stop that or we will sanction you,” pansy kind of tough. Yep, the do nothing whiners always come back with, “Oh Jeff, there you again with your hawkish blood thirst! Does it know no bounds? Why would you want to attack a country that is not attacking us?”

This is the response I get from the left who have never been shy about fighting a war and killing people when their power is at risk and the liberaltarians who fancy themselves as libertarians but are really not. The fact is that Iran is attacking us as the top US commander in Iraq points out:

BAGHDAD (AP) – The top U.S. military commander in Iraq on Tuesday accused Iran of continuing to support and train militants who are carrying out attacks, including most of the ones in Baghdad.

Gen. Ray Odierno said the attacks have fallen in number but are still a problem. He made the comments just after the U.S. relinquished security for Baghdad and other urban areas to Iraqi forces, part of a security agreement that will see all American soldiers out of the country by the end of 2011.

“Iran is still supporting, funding and training surrogates who operate inside of Iraq. They have not stopped and I don’t think they will stop,” Odierno told reporters at the U.S. military headquarters outside Baghdad. “I think many of the attacks in Baghdad are from individuals that have been in fact funded or trained by the Iranians.”

So spare me the lies about that peaceful little country known as Iran that is no threat despite threatening repeatedly to wipe Israel off the map and funding terrorists. You can keep your head in the sand, but eventually the truth will bite you in the ass you have sticking up into the air!

You can keep coming up with excuses and whining but the truth is that you are just part of the problem as long as you do this. We didn’t get into this hand basket and start our journey to Hell recently. We’ve been in it for a long time and traveling merrily along. But now that we are close to the gates and can feel the heat we are starting to take notice.

So, do we stand up to evil or do we let it burn us? Right now we are letting it burn us.

You've got to love polls like this one regarding support for Obamacare by Rasmussen:

You’ve got to love polls like this one regarding support for Obamacare by Rasmussen:

Voters remain closely divided over the health care reform plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats, with a high level of intensity on both sides of the issue.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 50% of U.S. voters at least somewhat favor the Democrats’ health care reform plan, while 45% are at least somewhat opposed.

But one thing about Scott Rasmussen and his crew, at least they will admit when something may not be as it seems. See, the poll was worded like this:

“Do you strongly favor, somewhat favor, somewhat oppose or strongly oppose the health care reform plan proposed by President Obama and the congressional Democrats?”

No where in the poll was the plan’s details described (and since it is not finalized they could not be) and no where was the question asked if whether or not those polled understood what was in the bill.

The question did not in any way describe the plan as it stands to date. It was simply presented as the health care reform proposed by President Obama and Congressional Democrats.

How much do you want to bet that 90% of those in this poll have no idea what Obamacare actually is? So the purpose of this poll is somewhat unclear considering that it was so vague. Right now everyone is inserting their own hopes and dreams into what the plan will entail. It is sort of like that mythical “generic ballot” question so often asked which changes dramatically once names are actually inserted in place of “Democrat” or “Republican.”

Here is really what is startling too and this goes back to my most Americans are too dumb to vote and should voluntarily stay home theory. Only a small minority actually think their care will get better under Obamacare as they envision it to be!

Among all voters, just 12% think their health care coverage will get better if the plan is passed while 37% expect it will worsen. Thirty-seven percent (37%) expect their coverage to stay about the same if the plan proposed by the president and congressional Democrats becomes law.

Yep, a plan that supposedly has 50% support has only 12% that think it will improve their standard of care? You other 38% who “support” this plan are actually saying that you either think your care will stay the same or get worse and you still support it? And for those of you who actually think it will get better have you seen the VA Hospital System or dealt with Medicare recently?
