The Connecticut Library Consortium (CLC) is seeking someone who is creative, dynamic, and articulate to serve as its Director. CLC's mission is to serve as a statewide membership collaborative serving all types of Connecticut libraries by initiating and facilitating cost-effective services to strengthen their ability to serve their users. Responsibilities: Establishing and coordinating organizational goals, program directions, and services; developing and cultivating partnerships with other statewide non-library groups; monitoring actions of the state legislature that may impact upon CLC and serving as its advocate; engaging in budget planning and oversight; hiring and managing all staff and supervising all operations; coordinating membership communications; and marketing CLC to its constituencies. Required qualifications: ALA-accredited graduate degree and five years library administrative experience. Preferred qualifications: Experience in program and fiscal management and in working collaboratively with libraries and governmental boards; fundraising and grant writing expertise; skills in human resource management, leadership, communication, and analyzing data; ability to multitask and set priorities; customer service orientation; understanding of the role of technology in the library environment; and a willingness to travel, particularly within Connecticut. Salary: $55,000 to $65,000 with excellent benefits. Early Intervention Clearinghouse Librarian

The Early Childhood and Parenting (ECAP) Collaborative at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is seeking a librarian (75% - 100%) for the Illinois Early Intervention (EI) Clearinghouse, which is funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services. The librarian will be responsible for working with subject experts in the areas of early intervention, child development, and early care and education on collection development; managing technical services, including working with Lincoln Trail Libraries System to maintain the EI Clearinghouse online catalog; managing public services and circulation; helping prepare materials for the Web site; and making the EI Clearinghouse a welcoming space for families and professionals involved in early intervention.
Required: MS in Library and Information Science or MLS from an accredited institution, strong writing and communication skills, strong interest in and commitment to providing information to parents of young children with special needs and early intervention professionals, and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Recommended: experience in a public library or a special library serving a diverse public; coursework or experience in early intervention, special education, child development, or early care and education, or related fields. Salary commensurate with experience. This is a visiting 75 – 100% - 12 month appointment. Proposed start date is as soon as possible after closing date.

Learning Resource Center Librarian Needed

Kankakee Community College is nestled on the banks of the Kankakee
River, 60 miles south of Chicago. The College serves approximately 3,200
credit students each semester and is dedicated to the mission of
enhancing quality of life through learning. Though KCC is located in a
growing tri-city metropolitan area, the college serves a largely rural
district. The college boasts a 177-acre beautifully landscaped,
tree-filled campus with more than 50 acres of buildings, parking, roads
and athletic fields as well as 125 acres of open area and farmland.

Duties include providing reference services; bibliographic instruction
and orientations; Interlibrary Loan; material selection; and
collaboration with faculty for collection development; as well as,
assisting with cataloging and circulation services; LRC displays;
developing and staffing reference desk schedule including training,
writing grants, and maintaining appropriate records and reports.

Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited
program or pursuing MLS and nearing completion required. At least three
to five years of related work experience required; academic library
experience preferred. Collection development experience in a variety of
subjects desirable. Computer experience using Microsoft Office or
comparable applications required. Experience with electronic
information retrieval systems and automated library systems required;
Voyager experience preferred. Excellent oral and written communication
skills required; ability to communicate in other languages desirable.
