Web of Knowledge- Maintenance Alert

We have just been informed that the provider of Web of Knowledge will be doing some maintenance work on Sunday 6 May from 12 pm onwards. The maintenance will be expected to last approximately 12 hours.

There may be disruption of service and access during this time.

Library computer system upgrades complete

The recent system upgrade activity in the Library has now almost completed. This process was neccessary both to make the library issue and catalogue system more robust and reliable over the next few years, and to address some potential hardware and security problems that had arisen.

Unfortunately, the need to deal with these matters as soon as possible meant we had to undertake the work over the Easter period. We appreciate your patience during the upgrade process, and hope that it did not cause you too many problems.

More Library system downtime

We are upgrading our Library catalogue and circulation system overnight this week between Wednesday11th and Friday 13th April. The upgrade planned for last week was, unfortunately, unsuccessful for technical reasons.

This means that there will be no access to the Library catalogue during the upgrade from Wednesday afternoon, so searching, reservations and online renewals via the catalogue will not be available. Access to e-books will be only available through the E-library section of the Portal. Fine payments and account queries, telephone- and in-person renewals will also be unavailable until the sytem upgrade is complete.

It is hoped that the systems will be restored during Friday 13th April.

We are upgrading our Library catalogue and circulation system overnight next week on Wednesday4th/Thursday 5th April.

It is hoped that the systems will be restored during Thursday 5th April.

New Electronic Resource – Brill Journal Archive Online – Full Collection

We now have a new e-resource- Brill Journal Archive Online that has 174 titles and available via IngentaConnect platform.

“Brill Journal Archive Online provides access to over fifty thousand articles from more than eighty journals published by Brill before 2000. Titles include one of the world’s oldest academic journals on Chinese studies, T’oung Pao.”

We have updated our full text titles on IngentaConnect.

We now have 398 titles including Journal of Experimental Child Psychology.

New Electronic Resource – Carl Giles Digital Archive

We now have a new e-resource, Carl Giles Digital Archive which is British Cartoon Archive that contains national collection of cartoons of political and social comment published in British newspapers and magazines.

You don’t need to register to use it however, if you would like to create groups of cartoons for various purposes ie. grouping the favourite ones or grouping the ones with the similar topic, you would need to register. You could find further information here about creating groups.

SwetsWise FullText Titles have been updated

We have updated our electronic journals that we subscribe through SwetsWise.

We now have 953 titles in total and we are waiting few more titles to be added to the Electronic Journals A-to-Z by the provider.
