Family Picnic @ Bamboo Camp & Resort, Pangsun

This is long past due kinda post (well... most of my post are. hey I ain't getting any younger. lesser time do do random rambles here...huhu).

School holidays and it is family time. Last year kat Janda Baik. This year... we go to Pangsun. Location: Bamboo Camp & Resort Pangsun. Klu datang sini, atas sikit je dr Lubuk Manggis. Sebelah kiri, ada jalan ke Sg. Lopo (ooo sini best. cuma nak p waterfall yg air sejuk baq ang tu kena hike like 2 hours...). Bamboo Camp & Resort tu jalan ke kanan.

Kat sini tempatnya lebih privasi, di mana kita kena booking terlebih dahulu. Ada beberapa chalet, pondok, dan dorm gak disediakan. Ada dewan makan, bilik mandi dan surau. Kata makcik Nani yang menguruskan tempat ni, kadang2 ada je sekolah2 buat program kat sini. Dia sediakan sekali pakej dengan makanan etc.

Since haritu book 2 chalet, kitorg dapat yang paling hujung. besar sikit lah. Ok gak chalet nye. bersih. Siap kipas. Satu bilik tu kosong, satu lagi siap de katil yg cm bunk bed tu. Tapi kene bawak toto dan bantal sendiri okeh.

Oh noes...

My blog have been very 'dusty'. It is not the matter I do not write anymore, it is just I rarely get the 'feeling' to write. Not like before Summore, there are photos meant for my blog, but my external HD went kaput *sigh* and cannot be recovered *double sigh* [including my birthday lunch at PickNik, Publika]. Nonetheless, I am free tonite. Nothing good on TV.

This post was long overdue! So so sorry!

Well, what is it about then? It was #twimc birthday in January and it is my turn to give birthday treat.
I just don't know where to go, so I asked my aunt whom also went to this place with another aunt.

Dolly Dim Sum.

Where? Avenue K. Opposite Wondermama.

I love how spacious and cozy the place is. Maybe because of the windows?

The food was awesome. Lunch for two with different type of dim sums and one small plate of Fried Rice, we are full, Alhamdulillah. The only thing is... can you have the picture of each dimsum on the menu?

I suggested the place to some friends and relatives. My cousin in law brought her hubby there, and later she brought her SIL. Haha...

By the way, I can't remember most of the names. But all tasted delish!

Finally my youngest bro completed his secondary school end November. Balik2 abis SPM trus me bawak him cuti-cuti Malaysia. Kebetulan my BFF is getting married that week.

On the way down south mmg hujan selebat-lebatnya. Stayed comfortably at Kings Hotel (opposite Pantai Hospital). Sampai2 just get ready for the wedding located at MITC Hall B.

My BFF is a Chinese married and Indian...satu Malaysia sungguh!

The reception is simple but meriah. Congrats Tracy and AB. May your marriage be blessed with lots of love and happiness. Be strong for each other coz more things are coming .

Next day, run-run at Taman Botani Ayer Keroh. Tempat tu dulu2 masa MMU tempat program Ice breaking persatuan. Pastu masa stress or frust about something, p jalan2 tgk alam kat situ gak.

Before balik KL, lalu jap kat my alma mater dan for lunch harus singgah makan asam pedas. Igt nak pi kat kedai air tebu bukit katil but lil bro nk jalan2 Dataran Pahlawan, so..gi la kat Restoran Asam Pedas Selera Kampung (or zaman study dulu Asam Pedas Pokok Mangga). Kat ne? Sebelah Mahkota Parade :) Kedai ni sangat femes! penuh manjang! Murah rezeki owner kedai ni. Korang wajib try!

Review: Mee Tarik Warisan Asli

Dah lama nak makan Mee Tarik. Sebelum ni try kat Oasis Food Court Midvalley (berdekatan dengan Kamdar). Bila Googling, mesti jumpa Mee Tarik Warisan Asli.

Kebetulan haritu Mama dan kawan2 sekolah gi situ. Then Mama decide to ajak makan sana with Baba.

The first outlet we went was at Lake Fields, Sungai Besi. Kat mana Lake Fields? Tau LRT Sg Besi kan. Sebelum balai polis ada traffic light, buat U-turn dan naik flyover. Mcm2 kedai ada situ.

Kedai dia takdela besar mana, just 2 shop lots. Tapi ramainya lah orang! Full house. rezeki kami la dapat tmpt.

Serius tak ingat nama menu. Tapi my fave kat sana is Bo Bao Tea. Dia cam Chrysanthemum tea yang ada mcm2 bahan dlm tu yg elok utk kesihatan mcm wolfberry la, longan, red dates. One thing yang susah sikit komunikasi la sbb pekerja dia ramai dari China kan. Hehe.. overall, I like the noodles. Springy gitu.

Then, we got to know that Mee Tarik Warisan Asli bukak kat Bangi. Kat mana? Bangi Sentral - opposite O'Grills :)

Difference is...yang cawangan Bangi ni staff dia mostly Bangladeshi. ek? Two shoplots and still fullhouse!

Sedap juga... kalau makan tengah hujan kan...hirup kuah panas2...sedap!

I went down south. Not Down Under (I wish! p/s - Australia I mean).

I took long break during Deepavali week to go Melaka with parents.

Why?

My youngest brother Form 5 graduation and of course makan la!

Sampai je checked in at Seri Malaysia Hotel. Rehat2 sat...then off to dinner. Selalu orang kalau pi ikan bakar kat Melaka definitely nak gi Umbai. We passed there and Baba decided to go Jeti Anjung Batu (atas sikit je dari Umbai). Ada dua kedai je situ but we often go to the last one. Tak ramai orang, tu yang best. Dah la lapar kan...hehe... Tapi makan seafood kene berjaga now. Uhuhu...

Next day off to Jasin gi sekolah Munir. One whole day there...yeah tiring. Majlis graduasi cam Uni nye lah...tapi smaller. Siap de pembawa cokmar [How come masa zaman me sekolah takde mende2 camni?]. Pagi tu de bacaan Yaasin dan Solat Hajat. Aft lunch baru Majlis Graduasi. After the function ended, baru la bawak Munir gi dinner but he have to return to school by 9.

The lady in the middle is Cikgu Muhibbah, cikgu kat MRSM Jasin which is kawan sekolah Mama masa darjah 6 and they have not met for 41yrs! Allahuakbar... dgn izin Allah mereka bertemu :)

The day before, we passed this one small restaurant so that night we decided to try. Tak ingat nama kedai. Tapi ingat jalan. Kat Bukit Katil, kan ada restoran jual nasi campur tengahari yang de kari kepala ikan dan asam pedas ohsem ... zaman MMU dlu slalu gi situ utk lunch. Air tebu best. Kuih2 pun best. Hehe... Go straight je nnt akan nmpk Masjid belah kiri. Then akan pass by petrol station. 200m dari tu kedai tu sebelah kiri je before traffic light.

Makan pe situ? Hehe, kitorg ternampak kambing golek and ayam atas tempayan. Not bad la. Kambing dia lembut and nasi ayam dia sedap cuma cam pelik tiba2 de combination dgn mash potato. Ohh.. we had dinner with my younger bro's friend who is currently working at Hospital Melaka.

Esoknya...balik KL dgn perut yang senang hati [padahal kan risau sebab sesi penimbangan berat. Haa? timbang ape cer? Nanti I share with you ye!]. Managed to drop some goodies utk cik BFF, Dzullia meskipun dia tiada di tempat kerjanye. Hehe...Cumanya tak dapat jumpe another BFF. Xpela. will be seeing her on her wedding reception nanti.

On Hari Raya AidilAdha itself... that night we had double birthday celebration. Mama on 24th Sept and Munir on 3rd Oct. Since Munir and Munzir were back home, meriah sikit lah. Munzir suggested this cafe - Port. Located next to Bangi Kopitam, Seksyen 8 BB Bangi.

Wide range of food. Local, Western and Arabian. Siang da makan dagin Qurban, so no meat for me that night.

Alhamdulillah... managed to fill my time during Merdeka with majlis ilmu. Kalau boleh nk je gi every month sebab banyak program ilmu yang best. Tapi ada kala tu kekangan waktu maupun kewangan :) Takpe, kalau Allah mengizinkan, insyaAllah sampai la tu.

Review: Bijan Restaurant, Jalan Ceylon

Bijan...or in English is sesame.

A unique name for a restaurant (and also reminded me of my uni mate...which is actually his name is Najib but if you spell it backwards you get Bijan..hehe).

I got a chance by Dineout to make a review for this particular restaurant. and oh..its on weekday..imagine the traffic jam eventhough I left my office a lil bit early. and my GPS is like...not helping *sigh*. Am supposed to meet Jason from Dineout and I brought #twimc along since another food blogger cancelled last minute.

Reached there around 7pm. The place is jampacked. Just like when you go any restaurants during lunchtime.

Bijan offers authentic Malay food with fine dining experience. The last time I had authentic Malay food just like this was at Seri Melayu Restaurant, Jalan Conlay...wayyy wayyy back.

Since it is towards the end of Syawal, the food spread consist of some local Raya delicacies such as all the kuih, cookies, rendang, ketupat and lemang. Entertained with Raya songs while we were there. Others like Grilled Ribs, grilled prawns, Satay. Oh, the beef Satay is a must try! The meat is succulent and marinated perfectly (I stay in Kajang, so yes, I do have Satay once in a while. One of the best Satay stall is Willy Satay at Ramal Junction, keluar gate belakang rumah je..hehe..). They keep refilling it.

How I wish I could taste all, but I did not. My tummy ain't that big! Haha..all food looks delish! I took the ones I rarely see or eat.

The food is awesome but being someone that loves spicy Malay food, I was expecting the rendang and masak lemak to have a lil spicy kick. But I guess, for expatriates or tourist or even locals that often come to Bijan, perhaps they make it less spicy to the tastebuds.

I wanted to try the Mee Kuah but tummy is full!

Oh oh...I do recommend 'the one' dessert. Chocolate Durian cake... to be honest, I don't fancy durian, and one of the staff there insisted me to try the cake (yeah yeah..you may say what-lahhh, nama je Malaysian tapi tak makan durian..duhh..I only eat durian when it is made into serawa [brown gravy that is made from coconut milk, durian and palm sugar] and eaten with pulut/glutinous rice). But their durian cake was awesome. The cake is not that sweet and the durian really complements the choc cake well. and ohhh.. I loveee lovee the Wajik (sweet glutinous rice). Not too sweet nor too chewy!

For my own gastronomic experience, Bijan is one restaurant if you want to enjoy fine dining Malay food. Bring your foreign friends/expats or as locals, you may want to try something new for a change.

Sorry kelewatan nak update. Harini baru leh update. Few days before Unifi connection problem. Katanya de tupai gigit. Harini baru settle, alhamdulillah. Thanks to the technician and contractor in charge.

I have to stay home today sbb tatau contractor mai kul berapa. and now it is raining heavily.

By the way, how's your Syawal so far? Definitely banyak open houses and weddings to attend to kan. Same here... ada few houses and weddings. Ada juga yang tak dapat nak pergi. Rush ke sana ke mari.

Office pun mesti ada wat jamuan Raya tak? Hehe..same to my division. ada la wat kecil2an secara potluck. Mcm2 menu.

Dalam bulan Syawal ni pun dapat celebrate my nephew 1st birthday! Hee cpt je masa berlalu... dah setahun dah dia.

Layankan je ye pics yang ada sepanjang 3 minggu Syawal ni.. next week dah nak masuk Zulkaedah :) Masih sempat lagi pada siapa2 yang nak berpuasa sunat.

Mohon maaf sgt2, dah lama blog ni dibiarkan berdebu bersawang bagai. La ni baru la de kesempatan nk hapdet. Ade ke rasa rindu 200%? (ehhh...kite tgk sebab hero kacak..wahaha)

Dah hari ketiga Syawal baru nk posting eh? Takpela...better than none right?

By the way, how's your Ramadhan? Mine Alhamdulillah, despite ada sedikit rasa tekilan. Harapnye dapat 'perfect'kan lagi jikalau dipanjangkan umur bertemu Ramadhan lagi.

Talking about Ramadhan, cookie biz still going on Alhamdulillah. Allah bg rezeki kat situ kan. This time around bukan cookies je, I joint venture dengan #twimc utk jual Popia Crunch. Cookies are made to order so susah sikit nk ada extra. Alhamdulillah gak ade yang nk post Syawal utk kudap2 sendiri. And since banyak foodies added, so we rebrand ourselves as Toothsome Delectables.

Tahun ni alhamdulillah beraya di KL aje sebab nenek side Mama ade sini. InsyaAllah nenek side Baba dtg next week (Dalam hati meronta jiwa nk lik raya Singapore sebab da lama sgt tak raya sana. InsyaAllah ada rezeki tahun depan..Mudah2an) So saya cuti raya seminggu ni, kendian kerja 3 hari, kendian cuti semula sampai Isnin. yela, adik2 dah balik Melaka dan Kerteh. So yours truly ni la jadi driver.

Adik sorang lagi beraya kat Malaysian Embassy kat Berlin. InsyaAllah hopefully next year beraya di tanah air la yee (doakan dia complete his Masters with flying colours!Aamiin!)

Review: Tokio Kafe, Cyberjaya

I think the last time I went to Cyberjaya was during my MMU convocation.Super serious! Heheh...nowadays dah rajin dah jalan2 sana... and I say..whoa...banyak dah kedai makan kiri dan kanan. Livelier a bit la compared to dolu2... Hehe... Well we have Shaftsbury Square, Neo Cyber, just to name a few.

Cumanya...cam kat Bangi jugala. Bila nak makan tatau nak decide nak makan mana. Hehe...tanye perut lah camtu...

Haritu Baba ajak gi makan luar, kat Cyber. Mula2 nak makan kat Shaftsbury but most shops are closed due to Public Holiday.

Munzir ajak pi Tokio Kafe. I think it is located at Prima Avenue (opposite DHL office, near CIMB bank and next to Padi Restaurant) Hee..da bnyk landmark dah tu.

Well....Tokio Kafe huh? It serves fusion-ised Japanese food that suits to our tastebuds. Ada juga western food if you feel like having one. Munzir being superhungry ordered 2 meals that night...Hahaha..we understand him well.

Review: Wangsa Grill by Chef Zubir

This is the 2nd time I went to Chef Zubir restaurant. The first time was on Mama's birthday at Laman Grill Bangi.

#twimc brought me here after long walk at the Zoo.. yeah Zoo.. hehe...rather than wasting time walking around doin' nothing at shopping malls + money goes off unexpectedly a.k.a shopping nonsense, better go jalan2 tgk nature. By the way, Zoo Negara is in progress to be one of the World's best zoo...but from what I saw, far from it and they definitely need to put in extra2 effort to gain the world's best zoo status. I can't even remember the last time I go to the zoo. Perhaps next we can go to Bird's Park or Butterfly farm ^_^.

Ok back to the food. Well, if you feel like having fine dining food at a reasonable price, this place must be in your 'To Go' list.

The food is simply delicious. Friendly service from the staff. How I wish to meet Chef Zubir in person (actually met him once during iftar with VPC last two years at Le Meridien/Hilton KL)

Farewell to Sis Erna

My sis gonna fly (or by the time I jot this down, she is already a student of Queensland Technology University) doing her Masters.

Managed to meet her up before she left and made her Murtabak Roti. Had a date at Serai, Shaftsbury Square Cyberjaya.

The first time I went to Serai was with my parents at Empire Gallery Subang. I love the food there. They say that it has the awesome-mest pavlova so I wanna try.

Gara-gara tengok iklan KFC (or more likely listen to radio). Never tried it before, so saje je buat pun. Tatau la rasa sama ke tak kan. Tapi yang tu tengok cam pakai breadcrumbs and I am out of it so guna cornflakes je.

Bahan2:
3 Biji kentang, direbus dan dilenyek
3 sudu tepung gandum
Garam dan lada hitam secukup rasa
Keju cheddar blok, dipotong kiub
1 Biji telur
Breadcrumbs/cornflakes yang dah dihancurkan
Minyak untuk menggoreng

Cara2:
1. Dalam mangkuk, campurkan kentang yang dilenyek dan tepung gandum. Masukkan garam dan lada hitam. Kacau rata.
2. Bentukkan bebola dan leperkan, masukkan keju dan bentuk jadi bola
3. Celup dalam telur dan kemudian gaul dalam breadcrumb/cornflakes
4. Goreng sehingga kekuningan
5. Hidang bersama sos cili

Cakap pasal sos, sos Agromas Cili Padi is my current fave now! Siapa yang tahan pedas boleh la try nie.

Surprise Birthday at Flora Kafe Ampwalk

Haritu my birthday dah dapat 2 surprises.... For #twimc birthday which falls on 9th January, I made few surprises (some dia dpt guess...ngee...). First surprise sent to office a day in advance, second one is surprise lunch on 11th. Ha yg ni beliau tak pat guess (coz I'm drivin'!)

Made arrangement a day earlier at Flora Kafe (thank you Mel!). By the way...if you all plan nk wat surprise lunch ke dinner ke, anniversary ke or small party (birthday, bachelorette, baby shower)..Flora Kafe Ampwalk or Flora Terrace Hampshire Place is one awesome spot. The food is delish! Please call up earlier..like a day or two k. They will assist in making special arrangements.

This is my 3rd time to Flora Kafe. Each time I come here, the decoration will be different. And it is lovely.

Fluffy Doughnut

Tetibe kan terasa nak makan donut kampung...not the kind of donut yang cam JCo, Dunkin and Big Apple. This one yang best if makan dgn kopi O panas... terangkat!

Tanye Kak Mazlia for a recipe (Sebab duk tengok member2 ofis duk upload gambar donut je).

Sedap je!! Wat lebih and bagi kat #twimc sikit. Heee....

Bahan2:

i. Untuk doh:
1/2 kg tepung gandum
1/2 paket yis Mauripan
2 sudu besar gula
2 sudu besar marjerin
2 sudu besar susu pekat

ii. Air +sedikit garam

iii. Gula halus/aising

Cara2:

1. Gaul bahan A.
2. Masukkan Bahan B sedikit-sedikit sampai semua bahan kering melekat dan uli sampai menjadi doh.
3. Tutup dengan kain lembab dan biarkan sampai doh naik 2kali ganda. Bentukkan bulat.
4. Biarkan doh naik sikit, buat lubang dan goreng.
5. Gaulkan dengan gula halus/aising sebelum dihidang.

Uhuhu...gebus!

Roast Chicken

Roast Chicken...my style. Heee... easy to make. If ada isi lebih jangan dibuang, leh guna untuk sandwich or salad.

Haritu upload gambar roast chicken dalam IG...ada kawan2 tanye camne nk wat. So step aside food review, this one comes first.

Different people have different way of making roast chicken. Well, up to your own creativity okay. This is my style.

Bahan2:

1 ekor ayam, bersaiz sedang, dibersihkan (jgn buang kulit)

Beberapa biji kentang, dipotong kiub besar (boleh juga ganti dengan lobak atau labu)

Beberapa biji tomato ceri, dibelah separuh

1 biji lemon, hiris nipis (jika mau)

1 bj bawang besar, dipotong bulat2

3 sudu besar minyak zaitun

2 sudu besar thyme kering (in my case Mun guna Palestenian thyme)

4 sudu besar butter

4 sudu besar madu

Garam dan lada hitam secukup rasa

1 sudu besar tepung jagung

1 cawan air

1 sudu besar lada hitam yg ditumbuk

1 sudu besar kicap manis

Cara2:

1. Dalam mangkuk, campurkan minyak zaitun, garam, lada hitam dan thyme. Kacau sebati

2. Dalam dulang pembakar (Mun pakai mama nye Corelle baking dish), masukkan kentang, tomato, lemon dan bawang. Ambil sedikit larutan minyak zaitun dan gaul rata dengan sayuran tadi.

3. Lebihan larutan minyak zaitun diratakan pada ayam dan perap selama 30min-1jam. Sapukan sedikit butter pada bawah kulit ayam.

4. Panaskan oven 200C [by the way, oven mun tak canggih sgt...so guna api bawah dlu..the last 15 mins baru pakai api atas. kang hangus ayam den!] , bakar ayam selama 1 1/2 jam (kalau oven gas mungkin lama sikit).

5. Campurkan madu dan butter. Sapukan pada ayam (cam Mun wat selang 15-20min)

6. Bila ayam da masak dan warna cam coklat kekuningan gitu, asingkan ayam dan sayur. Jus dari ayam jangan dibuang. Baking dish tersebut letak atas api sederhana. Masukkan tepung jagung, air, lada hitam dan kicap manis. Kacau rata sehingga pekat. Tadaa..dapat sos untuk roast chicken kita tadi :)

Mun beli ayam kat Pasar Tani MAEPS. Sedang2 je utk kami 4 beranak makan. Kejap je dah licin. Alhamdulillah. If semua adik2 ada, kene la beli ayam yang besar sikit.

Travelling Tips - I think!

Some points I learned before and during the trip.

Before

1. Baba taught me to have my own travelling list. tak kira la travel dalam ke luar negara. Mesti ada. Bukan apa...nanti tertinggal itu ini, haaa abis! And it has been a habit since then.

2. Make sure you bring your basic medications (batuk, selsema, demam, sakit perut and cirit birit). If you have specific medicine, bring them along.

3. Whether travelling alone or backpacking or with agent, best thing to do is to study about the place that you are going prior to your trip!

4. Money! Plan on the amount to be exchanged, compare prices (normally banks a lil bit expensive) and always leave some RM too, in case!

5. A must have in your handbag/sling bag - wet tissue, lipbalm/lipgloss, small compact powder, book (if you love reading), small notebook, pen and shades.

6. Since most of us are using smartphones and fancy gadgets, if you have powerbank, bring them!

7. Make a copy of your passport details, hotel and all. Keep them in a small pouch. Also to make one copy of logistic/itinerary to your family at home. For emergency purposes.

8. Keep emergency numbers in your mobile

9. Subscribe to travelling insurance. As for me, I took AIA travelling insurance from my agent.

10. Check with your telco on roaming and data services. Jangan terkejut nanti tetibe bill tinggi or kena barred.

11. For ladies, I presume you manage your menstruation cycle. Therefore, if you are travelling during that time of the month, don't forget to bring the-you-know-what.

During

1. Always2 take care of your personal belongings. Even in hotels.

2. Plan your spending. If you want to shop, bargain as much as you can get.

3. Always bring a bottle of water wherever you go

4. If you need to ask the locals, ask nicely and it is no harm to give a smile :)

5. If you think you're gonna walk far, don't bring heels... I just wear sneakers and my pumps/flats

6. Enjoy the scene and have a good time.
