The 28-storey building is Sarawak’s tallest building at the moment, but it will soon be surpassed by the new Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Building at Kuching Waterfront. The Sanyan Building sits majestically in front of Sibu Town Square, the largest town square in Malaysia. The Sibu Town Square had recently played host to the 26th National Chinese Cultural Festival and the 8th Borneo Cultural Festival. These are the 2 pictures I took recently during the cultural festival. Do you notice the swan statue in both the pictures? Swan is the symbol of Sibu, thus Sibu is also sometimes called as Swan City.

Pictures above are the aftermath of a procession, the subject of this week - Garbage. It is a shame to see banners, bottles, papers and paper cups scattering everywhere on the road after the parade. Don’t they have street sweepers to clean up the mess after the event? But there should be no garbage thrown at all in the first place!

This is the picture I took when I was trekking in the Bukit Lima Forest Park. The landscape is quite magnificent, don’t you think so? There is this trunk growing so tall that it stands out from the rest. And there is a blue sky after raining in the background. It is not always we can admire the lush green of forest and listen to the bird chirpings. Spending an hour walking in the forest park from time to time will definitely get you away from the hustle bustle of city life.

Shamefully speaking, I have never been to the Forest Park before. Last weekend, Mother Nature called. For the first time, I went jogging and trekking in Bukit Lima Forest Park. To be surrounded by lush green forest really refreshes one’s mind. If you are unaware, forest is one of the places with high concentration of negative ion. This makes breathing in the forest extremely comfortable and relaxing. Here are a few pictures I took while trekking inside the Bukit Lima Forest Park. Back to the nature, shall we?

I have to dig deep into my album for this week . The other day I went trekking in a forest reserve. And I managed to catch this beautiful moment. A new branch is growing out of the mother tree. The leaves are still pink in color. How nice to see this happening! There should be more of this kind of forest reserve in the country. We should not take everything for granted from our Mother Nature. There should be time when we finally give back and HEAL THE WORLD. R.I.P. Michael Jackson…

This is my first entry under Skywatch Friday. I love to watch the sky, especially when my mind is free and unoccupied. Over the years, as I have more and more commitments in life, I already do not have that luxury of time to watch the sky anymore. Occasionally on the way driving home, the sky is so beautiful above. But heck, you do not bring camera with you all the time, do you? This photo I took in one of the beach resorts when I was holidaying in May this year. Its year round temperature seldom exceeds 25 degrees centigrade and also seldom falls under 12 degrees centigrade. This pleasant temperature has made Cameron Highlands Malaysia’s largest tea producing region as well as major supplier of flowers and vegetables. During my recent visit to Cameron Highlands, I did not have sufficient time to visit either the tea garden or vegetable farm. Fortunately, I did stop by one of the many flower gardens there. These are a few selected photos I took in the flower garden. Don’t you think flowers grow better in the highland region?

Have you seen Sichuan Opera before? I had seen once a couple of years back when I was in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, China. There are many plays in the opera, one of which is depicting the story of “Romance of the Three Kingdoms”. In this play, Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei swore to be brothers in a garden full of peach blossoms. Together, the trio joined forces to fight against the rebels. One could see stage performers swinging flags during the battle. Each of these flags has the surname of 3 generals printed on it as you can see in the picture below. Can you tell which one of the 3 is Liu Bei, Guan Yu or Zhang Fei? The one in the front, wearing blue shirt is a small soldier though.

To me, the most attractive thing Cameron Highlands has to offer is its succulent strawberries! Do not get mistaken, I do not like its sour taste. In fact, most of the strawberries I ate in Cameron Highlands are sour. Only some of them taste a bit sweet. Any idea on how to tell whether a strawberry tastes sweet or not? What makes strawberries so special in Cameron Highlands is the fact that here is the only place in Malaysia that grows and sells strawberries. Correct me if I am wrong. In Cameron Highlands, one can find strawberries in all forms, may it be fresh strawberries from farm, strawberry ice cream, umbrellas with strawberries printed on them, strawberry key chains and many more. Strawberry has become the symbol of Cameron Highlands!

Of course the main attraction of Cactus Valley is cactus. In its brochure, Cactus Valley boasts of having one of the most variety cactus plants in Cameron Highlands. Hence, I paid an entrance fee of RM 4 to see what Cactus Valley has to offer. The walking distance from Brinchang Town to Cactus Valley is only about 5 minutes. It proves to be a pleasant walk as the air is cool refreshing. For your information, Cactus Valley opens daily from 0800 to 1800. Do not miss out visiting Cactus Valley if you happen to be in Cameron Highlands!
