My six-year-old cousin was delighted with her pair of birthday presents this year!

These bunnies were so much fun to make, and the design is adorable.

This was sort of a new thing for me, because I love making plushies but I don’t usually add extras such as fabric.

I used embroidery floss and glue to attach the pieces to the ears and feet. His carrot was made with embroidery floss, and her flower was made with a pretty little scrap of handspun yarn.

I’ve been working with Madelinetosh Light for the very first time, and it’s such a joyful experience. This triangle scarf was quick to stich with only one skein, and is so soft against the skin.

Babies are so fun to crochet for. The hour or so that it takes to finish an adorable and cozy little hat is so worth it, despite the fact that they’ll grow out of it almost as fast.

The first hat and bootie set I made was for a coworker, whose wife was expecting their first. These went to the early - yet healthy and happy - boy born in March.

This shell stitch hat is a free pattern from Anna’s Antics and the booties are a free pattern from Tampa Bay Crochet.

I fell in love right away with the pixie hat, and so I decided to make a few of them with booties to match. I’m working on the fourth set: two cousins and two friends are pregnant.

I don’t know the sex of these babies yet, and at least two of them will be a mystery until they’re born! I think that’s such a fun surprise – and a great way to avoid ending up with a pile of only-pink or only-blue baby gifts!

I’m pretty sure these will look awesome on a little boy or a little girl. The bonnet is a free pattern from Shara Lambeth Designs. I altered it a bit by adding an edging (1 row sc, 1 row reverse sc) and reinforcing the ties with slip stitches. This pattern quickly became a favorite and will be used again and again!

Two years later, I finally got around to spinning it, but I wasn’t very excited about the results.

And so it sat around for another two years while I pondered its fate.

This winter, while looking for a quick and simple project to knock out in between working on larger garments, I found myself yearning for something thick and soft to counter all of the thin, hard lace I’d been working.

My handspun yarn just felt so luscious.

I’m glad that I chose to finally work this yarn up and find its true potential. I fell in love with the fiber again while feeling the yarn through my fingers and watching the colors pop out.

Sometimes you just have to stick with it!

Still plenty of wind and rain around these parts. In the past few months I’ve really fallen in love with wearing scarves and shawls for fashion as well as function.

The bamboo crochet thread I used turned out to be soft, light, and easy to work with. The ribbing took a long time and almost as much yarn as all the motifs.

The ribbing was designed to be knitted, but I used crochet post stitches to imitate the knit look. Visit my project page on Ravelry for more info on how I worked it out.
