Today only, Amazon's knocking a whopping $60 off the price of the surprisingly-great Kindle Fire HD 7, bringing it down to just $79 (or $99 for the 16GB version). That's $30 less than the previous all-time low price, and even $20 less than the Lilliputian Fire HD 6. You could go so far as to call it a <clears throat> "fire sale."

Sony's largest new screens are 75-inches. The X940C is at the top of the pile and costs a magnificent £7499 (the list price is $8000 in the US). This screen, along with the X930C, will support Sony's HDR functionality.

This will be "added" via a firmware update later on in the summer. The X930C comes to the UK in 55- or 65-inches and will cost £2,599 or £3999 depending which you go for. The US only gets the 65-inch model, and it will cost $4,499.

While there's no mention of price yet, Sony's also talking up the X900C, which it claims is the "thinnest LED TV in the world". At 0.2 inches thin it's certainly slighter than most smartphones on the market.

Sony has also made an effort with its picture processing, and is very pleased with the X1, which it says will produce the best pictures of any TV it has produced yet. There will also be Triluminos panels on the X850 and above ranges. This is Sony's way of saying "quantum dot", and offers massive brightness and contrast boosts to TVs. It's also needed for HDR display.

A return to form for Sony

Android TVs - as all Sony's smart models are - also bring with them some great advantages. As well as access to plenty of apps, including PS Now, which gives you access to streaming games for a monthly subscription. This service is due to launch in the UK soon, and will open up a lot of Sony's library of older games, as well as PS3 titles.

Sony has won a lot of love for its TVs in recent years, something that it had lost after the early days of LCDs. It seems now that the brand, which was once synonymous with TVs is back in the game. We'll have reviews as soon as we can lay our hands on samples.

We're also seeing 4K gain a foothold now - something Sony is very invested with, thanks to its film studio and Blu-ray ties. We should see even more come from this in 2015 with the standards now defined for 4K and HDR broadcasts as well as the new Blu-ray format.

Nokia stepped down from making new smartphones after the Microsoft buyout, but thing might be about to change.

According to two different sources speaking with Re/code Nokia is planning to re-enter the mobile phone business, and will make the step forward at some point next year.

Due to the deal where Microsoft bought out Nokia, the Finnish company isn't allowed to use the Nokia brand on new smartphones until Q4 2016.

However, sources suggest Nokia will grab its first chance to re-enter, but will do so differently.

Return of the Noki

The death of the Nokia brand was unmistakably down to a lack of innovation after the smartphone game changed so much, so quickly.

By the time Nokia can re-enter the game it'll be nearly three years since it left, so hopefully that amount of time has allowed the company to re-evaluate its purpose in the market.

It'll need to do something different to the Lumia brand as Microsoft has taken its design ethos, dropped the name and continued creating handsets in that fashion.

The sources also claim Nokia has a series of ambitious technology projects in development including virtual reality. This may be the start of an exciting new Nokia, and it might not be too long before we know what it looks like.

Here's a full rundown of the Nokia and Microsoft buyout.

OnePlus has announced it's killed its invite-to-buy scheme for the OnePlus One, opening up sales of the handset globally for anyone, at any time.

It already made the One available for anyone to buy every Tuesday back in February, but this announcement makes it even easier to get hold of.

Marking a year since the launch of the smartphone which brought us flagship specs at a surprisingly low price, the Chinese firm also had a snippet of information on its next handset.

While it may have killed invites for the One forever, it's confirmed that the OnePlus 2 will initially be an invite-only handset like its predecessor when it launches in the third quarter of this year.

Norway will be the first to kill FM radio

Norway will be the first country to shut off FM radio and make the digital switchover to DAB. Starting on January 11 2017, the switchover is aiming to be complete by December when FM will be no more.

There are a few good reasons to bid adieu to FM, not least because it costs eight times more to run. the switchover is set to save the country around £35 million according to a statement from the Norwegian Ministry Of Culture, notes Radio.no.

The good people of Norway will also be able to listen to more stations on DAB than was possible on FM, too.

It's been 20 years since the country first started using DAB which, let's face it, is fair warning. Norway managed to make it over the digital radio finish line first because it has a relatively low population - it's likely to be a good few years before the UK, US and other larger countries are able to follow suit.

The UK was originally meant to start switching FM transmissions over to DAB this year, but the project has been pushed back until somewhere between 2017 and 2019. It's got its fair share of problems to figure out before then.

LG has revealed when its latest flagship smartphone, the G4, will go on sale - and it's not even officially announced the handset yet.

Writing on its Korean blog, it confirmed the LG G4 release date will be May 31, a month after the official launch of the handset on April 28.

The same post also appears to confirm the LG G4 will pack a 16MP camera on its rear - up from the 13MP sensor on the back of the G3 - which is in line with a host of rumours surrounding the handset.

Say cheese

There's a mention of the front facing camera too, which is said to be rated at 8MP - so expect some focus on selfies during the launch event.

Current reports suggest the LG G4 will also sport a 5.5-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, microSD slot and a leather body.

We'll be reporting live from LG's April 28 event to bring you all the latest on the G4 as it's announced.

You know when someone gets a bee in their bonnet about something and "takes to" Twitter to launch a multi-tweet rant about a small change to the Creme Egg recipe or an imaginary slight they suffered at the hands of a McDonalds employee?

That's what people on Twitter and "the media" have been unofficially calling a Tweetstorm - and now Twitter has paid $975 to trademark the term.

It's not the first time Twitter has taken ownership of something created by mere mortals like you and us - @ replies, hashtags and retweets were all the invention of the Twitter community rather than handed down from on high.

Trademarking the word "Tweetstorm" somehow makes the practice more official - as though going off on a huge, boring tirade that you have to scroll backwards through to work out what it's even about is an acceptable use of Twitter, instead of simply a great reason to unfollow someone.

An Android Port Isn't Impossible

The question of whether or not Cortana will ever make it beyond Windows devices doesn’t have a clear answer, but it turns out Microsoft’s lack of action isn’t enough for some people. Some intrepid hackers have taken it upon themselves to take the Halo-inspired digital assistant and port it over to Android devices.
