It works like this: you keep a vision in your mind of how you want your body to look, and subconsciously you will begin acting in a way that will go in that direction. You become much more positive about your body, more accepting of your diet or fitness regime, and you will reach your weight goals more quickly and easily.

Effecting change through visualizing desired outcomes have become more and more acceptable in recent years. Psychologists do not understand exactly how it works but clearly the mind and body are not as separate as we often believe. It seems that if you truly want something it is more likely to happen - provided of course that it is something that is possible, and within your control. Visualization helps us to truly want to lose weight by creating a clear and happy picture of our fitter bodies. Without this we can often put psychological traps in our own path.

Many people who are overweight believe they cannot lose weight. Sometimes you may say it out loud, or hear friends say it about themselves. For other people this belief stays in the subconscious. But it is sure that it influences our behavior. Someone who believes it is impossible for her to lose weight will be constantly battling her own negativity when she is trying to diet. Her mind will be constantly telling her there is no point dieting, she cannot lose weight so she should just go ahead and eat everything she wants. Visualization is the strongest technique that we can use to overcome these negative thoughts and impulses.

If you are plagued by negativity either from your own mind or from the reactions of friends and family to your diet, go ahead and visualize yourself at your desired weight as often as you can. It works on the same level as all those negative voices and can annihilate their influence like nothing else can.

It is important to practice every day - morning and evening if you can. You just need to take a few minutes in a quiet place and keep an image in your mind of your body at its ideal weight. Some people can do this easily while others need some help. If you have a photograph of yourself at your ideal weight in the past, you may find it easier to look at that. Or use a photo from a magazine but cut off the person's face. You need to visualize your own body, but thinner.

You can also visualize from the inside. Close your eyes and let your awareness focus on a part of your body - for example, your right thigh. Imagine it slowly becoming thinner in your mind's eye. Then move to the other thigh, and on through the body. It may help to start at the feet and move up towards the head, or vice versa.

As you go about your work or daily chores, think of yourself as already at your ideal weight. Create your own affirmations and repeat them often, always in the present tense ("I am glad to be flexible, fit and slim", not "I will ..."). Enjoy the feeling of having a positive self-image. Over time, this will help you to keep to your weight loss plan. You will find that fatty foods are less attractive and exercise is more enjoyable.

While your weight loss will of course be gradual, the wonderful thing about visualization is that it gives you a new body image right away. Use visualization and weight loss to make you happier right now, today!

Have an Amazing Day!

Life Happens.... Make The Best of It. But what happens when there are things that go on in your life that you have no control over? Sometimes we are forced to live a life we don't want to live, face the very things that we fear. Lose something so precious... we feel a part of us has died.

I have gone through that over the last couple of months... and today... my birthday... I finally feel able and ready to write about life again.

Three years ago my father was diagnosed with lung cancer. He was only given months to live. The passion that he had for life gave him the ability to fight this terrible disease... for at least a little longer. His love for his new wife Gail and the desire to spend as much time with his children and grandchildren, his friends and family, gave him the courage to face his fear and fight a very courageous battle.

The last few months have been very tough. I feel very blessed that I was able to spend almost every day with him, taking him for his radiation treatments, spending time with him... in and out of the hospital. I was given the opportunity to share with him my feelings, my love, and my hopes for the future.

Sadly, he passed away on May 4th of this year. I know in my heart that he is in a better place, and free from his pain. However, the grief for our loss still overtakes me. When I think about not hearing his voice, not sharing time with him, knowing that nothing will be the same again, sometimes I break down and cry.

I know that it will take time to heal, and I'm good with that. Today though, is the first day that I have been able to have a sheer sense of happiness. A day that I am actually enjoying, rather than just surviving! Perhaps it helps that my dear hubby (ah he is so sweet to me), brought me flowers, a nice card, my favourite treat (a chocolate bar) and got me that new book that I wanted. (which I will talk about further down). He also took me to lunch today with his Mom and sister. So far today has been enjoyable.

Life for me is about having a sense of purpose. When something happens in my life and I lose that... I am not really living, I am in survival mode. Its time to move past that... and get back my sense of purpose.

Now about this book that I wanted. Last week I was flipping through the channels one afternoon (laying in bed - surviving - well depressed actually, if I am to be completely honest here), and on the screen came Oprah. This day she was interviewing an author Geneen Roth and the topic of conversation was her new book:

Women Food And God

I found this interview so appealing, so captivating, so interesting.. I knew I had to have this book. In fact, I immediately texted my best friend Jen and told her she needed to watch Oprah that day (she pvr's it). I knew she would be interested too.

Well today my hubby presented me with this book, and I am so excited to start reading it. I am hoping that not only will it help me to understand why I turn to food to console myself or when I am bored, but also give me more insight into the other women (and men) that I coach.

Click on the book to see if it is available on Amazon.com

I will keep you updated as I read this book and begin on "An Unexpected Path to Almost Everything"

Have an Amazing Day!
I decided to throw all my remaining chips in. It was the right thing to do. This starting hand is a better than 3 to 1 favourite from any random hand. I got a call from one player who was holding Q8. However, he flopped an 8 and rivered a Queen, which ended my run.

I know that I didn’t go out on a mistake… just luck of the cards!

Now, if I could only convince Poker Pro and fellow Canadian Daniel Negreanu to coach me a little, my dreams of playing in the WSOP might be a little closer to reality… wink wink! ;)

Have an Amazing Day!

The Key To It All!

It's actually a very simple solution: Training!

When you are young and in school and you don't know how to read, what happens? You are taught how! When you don't know math, what happens? You are taught math! When you are a young mother with your first child and you don't have the first clue how to take care of a baby... what happens?

Well for the most part for us... fortunately that comes with instinct, however if you need knowledge on any subject you can find it.... there are a gazillion books out there on parenting... just visit any local Chapters store or do a search online... you'll find it! Again - Training!

Training - the education, instruction, or discipline of a person or thing that is being trained: He's in training for the Olympics. ~ http://www.dictionary.com/

Well, we are not training for the Olympics, but something much easier to attain - Building a Successful Network Marketing Business - Online!

Over the course of the last few years I have bought many information products, spent thousands (and I do mean thousands) of dollars in training. E-books, video courses, regular books, dvds, cds, personal development courses, teleseminar courses, you name it, I've done it. I have even travelled to 3 and 4 day work shops.

Some training is very very good, others.... not so good! Fortunately, you don't have to make the same mistakes I have made, and spend the kind of money that I have. I have gone through the training and I know what works and what absolutely does not work.

I would like to recommend some of the Gemstones (I like to call them) that I have found that have helped me tremendously to build my business completely online, on autopilot! And....... they won't cost you your first born child either!

Recommended Training

In order to get the most out of your business and avoid failure, as a preliminary step I highly recommend you go and download a very valuable, eye opening book from another industry leader (which I'll give you access to for FREE) that exposes some half-truths in network marketing. Do this First! http://www.themlmleadsource.com/

One of the best books I have ever read and it is completely FREE. (Also by Ann Sieg)
If you have ever been confused about where to start when marketing online, or had a hard time getting going... this is absolutely for you! Don't waste another minute going in the wrong direction... Read This!! http://www.attraction-marketing-today.com/

Your Own Web Presence
This is a critical factor in building your own success online. I know that your Network Marketing Company offers you a very attractive Corporate website. It looks beautiful and has all the bells and whistles. However, every other distributor in your company has the exact same website. So what sets you apart? If you have read either of the two reports above, you understand the importance of having your own web presence.

Whether you are a seasoned web designer or a newbie that knows nothing about building a website, this is the solution for you. The only thing you need to know is the topic of your site. SBI takes care of every other detail for you, including optimizing your site for the search engines. Plus: They Understand Network Marketing!! BONUS!

I personally created a site using SBI not too long ago, actually it is a work in progress! But I love the tools and functionality of the SBI Platform! Highly recommend!

Please check back often... as I will be adding resources to this page, but this should get you started in the right direction! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me!
How about a Total Body Cleanse?

Back a while ago I witnessed a friend of mine drop a considerable amount of weight in a short period of time. I was curious to discover his secret as I had been struggling for quite a while to lose the excess fat from my pregnancies (yes plural).

He told me about a body-cleansing program. I said, “Oh a colon cleanse? Yes I have heard of them”. He said no that it was a completely natural total body cleanse.

Why do we need to cleanse?
My first thought was… why the heck do we need that? So I started to study this process of cleansing and detoxifying the body. Here is what I learned:

North – Americans are sicker now then they have ever been. Why? Well for one, we are in a state of nutritional deficiency; just take a look at what we eat. How nutritious is the fast food that we eat? Honestly. Even the food we get in the grocery stores has to be fortified. Our fruits and vegetables are sprayed with pesticides. The meat we eat has been injected with antibiotics.

Additionally, toxins and chemicals in our environment are being linked to diseases. Ongoing studies are linking toxins to diseases like cancer, autoimmune diseases, birth defects, pulmonary disease, cardiovascular diseases and now obesity.

Our convenient lifestyle has come at a cost – our health. Would you have purchased bottled or filtered water ten years ago? Why do we do it now? Is the tap water not safe to drink anymore?

Ok so what is the Total Body Cleansing process?

Also known as detoxification, the body cleansing process is a treatment aimed to rid the body of the harmful impurities and chemicals that we ingest on a daily basis. These built-up impurities can cause your internal organs to slowly clog and deteriorate, and you may not even know it.

While different forms of the detoxification regiment exist, the overall aim is to achieve a chemical-free diet, consisting mainly of foods that are high in vitamins, nutrients, and anti-oxidants. Water and high-fibre foods are also central to the cleansing process, as they increase urination and bowel movements, which are needed to complete the cleansing process.

Cleanse your body internally and nutritionally replenish it so that it can become the miracle that it was intended to be. It seems that we clean and maintain everything about our external body, but what about the inside? When I thought about this it made perfect sense to me, so I decided to give body cleansing a try.

So, does cleansing help you lose weight?
Well, it helped me lose weight, a total of 14 lbs in 30 days. But it also helped me understand the process of why we gain weight, and it taught me how to eat better and make healthier choices for my family.

Why do people gain weight?
Well, we eat too much. We eat the wrong foods, lack of exercise, genetics and stress. We are also learning that chemicals and toxins are contributing to obesity. As toxins enter our bodies, the body’s natural response is to coat these toxins with fat and water… yuck, what a thought! This is our body’s way of protecting our organs from the toxins. As we ingest more toxins, the body creates more fat cells to protect you.

Have you ever tried to lose weight, only to be disappointed? Well perhaps now you know the reason why. Most diets, lotions, pills, potions and powders use unhealthy and potentially dangerous ingredients such as ma haung, ephedra, and caffeine that promise fast weight loss, however the weight loss is primarily water weight and lean muscle. Minimal fat is lost because these products do not address the issue of cleansing the toxins.

But I am Healthy and Lean, do I still need to Cleanse?

No matter what your weight, or physical health, toxins enter your body on a daily basis. Everyone can benefit from the effects of cleansing their bodies. Look at it this way – regardless of whether you drive a Cadillac or a Mini – you need to change the oil in your car. You brush your teeth to keep them clean; you shampoo your hair and wash your skin. Why not clean the inside?

All adults who live with stress, pollution, and incomplete nutrition should cleanse. It can help you regain lost energy, improve athletic performance and help you on the road to an overall healthier lifestyle.

No Time For That!

It happens every year. We hear about it, like its an ailment. The February Blahs... It's cold outside, the wind is howling. The snow has piled up, but it's not pretty anymore, it is dirty from all the salt and sand being thrown around by the plows. Spring still seems such a long way off! This for me would be the ultimate time to get away on a nice warm sunny vacation south!

But There's No Time!

February is one of the busiest months for us. Well the first half anyway. First we have our daughter Chantelle's birthday on the 7th of the month. That does not go by without planning a party and an outing or two. A shopping trip is always in order too!

We just nicely get through that and then our son Cory's birthday arrives on the 13th - the very next week! Another round of party planning, presents to buy, shopping to do.

Right after that - the next day - Valentine's Day! Now there is not much planning for that, but we do treat it as a special occasion. Today, my dear hubby lavished me with a beautiful singing card and a very nice box of chocolates... my absolute obsession!

Thank goodness for Family Day - which arrives on February 15th. This 3 day weekend has a special occasion on each day for us. Busy, yet at the same time, a wonderful time of sharing with family and friends.

So after all of this celebration, you would think that now I could relax a little. This would now be a great time to get away! Are you kidding? After two weekends in a row of parties, cake, and perhaps not eating the best, now it is time to kick into high gear! Have I indulged? Of course!

Now is the time to get back into routine, focus on goals, apirations, fitness, work, and overall health. It is a time to get back into center, to be grateful for everything that I have, and for everything that I am going to achieve now!

February Blahs?
I can only experience them if I allow myself too. I am in control of my thoughts and my emotions. I choose how I approach each day!

"Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens." ~ Carl Jung

Happy Valentines Day!!

It has become one of my favorite topics, because honestly, it has completely changed my health.

Cleansing the inside of your body is actually not some new fad or new diet that has just sprouted up over the last few years. The internal cleansing of the body has been practised throughout history. Cultures from around the world have seen the value in cleansing the body of harmful impurities, so this is actually not something new, but it seems to be more important than ever in today’s modern world.

There are many new products on the market to help aid your cleanse. Indeed, there are many benefits to those who actually use these types of diets properly. Not only can one experience a healthier immune system that will help ward off disease better and more efficiently, but the body will be much better off for undergoing a cleanse (or detox). If you have ever wondered about some of the other benefits that you could gain by cleansing your internal body, here is some food for thought:

Your Colon is CleansedMany people focus on colon cleansing as the absolute source of a detoxification diet. However, the colon is not the only organ that should be focused on during a cleanse but it certainly will help the body in the long run. The main function of the colon is to excrete wastes from the body, but the colon is also used in water absorption. These two functions are crucial to keeping your body healthy. Undergoing a cleansing process helps the colon so that it can function properly. Let’s face it: after years of digesting fatty foods, foreign substances, along with all the toxins that we ingest and inhale from our every day environment, our colon may not be functioning well at all. A good cleansing diet should include natural fruit juices as well as trace minerals, antioxidants and alkaline ingredients like aloe vera and herbal teas.

Your Kidneys are CleanerYour kidneys are like sophisticated filters. They do a terrific job of keeping your entire body and system clean. Every day your kidneys process about 200 quarts of blood and sift out about 2 quarts of waste products and excess water. They also release important hormones that your body needs. So if they do such a great job, why do we need to cleanse them? Same reason for cleansing the colon, years of toxins, impurities and foreign substances that enter our bodies, there is no way that your kidneys are able to filter out every single small harmful particle. Involving your body in a cleanse that includes the kidneys is very beneficial. Not only are the kidneys cleaner, but they will also be able to do their job more properly than before the cleansing process.

Your Liver is Cleansed
The liver has many functions. It produces substances that break down fats, it converts glucose (sugar) to glycogen, it produces urea (the main substance of urine), it makes certain amino acids (the building blocks of proteins), it also filters harmful substances from the blood (like alcohol), it stores vitamins and minerals and it maintains a proper level or glucose in the blood. The liver is also responsible for producing cholesterol. It produces about 80% of the cholesterol in your body. It is a vital but often neglected organ. If you talk to radiologists and gastroenterologists who are looking at people’s livers today, they will tell you that the condition called “Fatty Liver” affects more than 50% of people over the age of 50. Common causes are poor diet, excessive alcohol intake, adverse reactions to prescription drugs and toxic chemicals. Again the same reasons as above for doing a cleanse or detox.

A Healthy Immune System
Of course, there are plenty of other benefits that one can experience by undergoing a complete internal body cleanse, but the major benefit and goal of it all is to have a healthier immune system. Let’s face it: each winter everyone usually experiences nasty bacterial colds, the flu, coughs, sore throats, as well as a variety of other diseases that are not necessary. Even though there is no commercial way to get rid of these diseases, a detoxification is able to help and boost the immune system. When your immune system is healthy these same diseases and ailments just don’t happen!

I haven’t had the flu in more than two years. Do I cleanse? You betcha!

When we consider all the benefits of a total body cleanse, there is much evidence to suggest that we all need to undergo a cleansing process ourselves. And by keeping up with our cleansing lifestyle and making sure that we eat properly we are only making a healthier system for our bodies!

If you would like more information about a complete nutritional cleanse, you can contact me via the Lean and Healthy website.

Hope this helps. Have an Amazing Day!

I arrived at the Toronto General Hospital Special Pregnancy Unit for a consultation at 10 weeks. The doctors suggested that I terminate the pregnancy, because it was so risky for me.

I guess even at that stage a mother’s instinct kicks in. I just knew that everything would be okay. I had this miracle growing inside me, now it was up to God and a special medical team to see it through. I told them that termination was not an option. I would do anything and go through anything to have this child.

Once my doctors knew that I understood the risks, they were more than happy to support me through to the end. I was a challenge for them and they loved it. Dr. Mathew Sermer was my OBGYN and Dr. Jack Colman was my cardiologist. They both had specialities in high risk pregnancies in cardiac patients.

At 20 weeks I was admitted to Hospital where I would stay on bed rest and oxygen therapy for the duration of my pregnancy. That was on Dec 3, 1990. I spent that Christmas in the Hospital.

They told me my baby would be smaller than average.. that I could not sustain a full weight baby because she wasn’t getting enough oxygen and that she would more than likely come early.

They were right. At 26 weeks, I developed a hole in my amniotic sac and starting having contractions. Fortunately the contractions did not turn into full labour. They kept taking me down to the labour and delivery floor, and then back up to my room. This went on for two weeks and I finally said “why don’t you just leave me in the elevator?” LOL!

At the beginning of the third week of Braxton Hicks contractions, they decided to leave me in labour and delivery so that I could have my own nurse. I remember her, her name was Jane. She brought me in a TV from home. I was not to get out of bed except to go to the bathroom.

On Thursday Feb 7th I woke up and had my breakfast. The contractions seemed like they did every other day. I was getting used to them at this point. Dr. Sermer came in that morning to check on me. On that morning he found that I was 3 cm dilated and he could feel the baby’s foot coming out. She was breach. This was a problem. She was too small.

I was only 29 weeks pregnant. She was tiny and hadn’t developed enough to be delivered naturally. Plus they were extremely concerned about me. They initiated an Emergency C- Section to be performed in The Cardiac O/R. (Afterwards I was told there was a team of 30 in the room for this delivery).

Chantelle was born at 10:35 am that morning 19 years ago. She weighed just 2 lbs and she was 13” long. I was put to sleep for the delivery and sent to recovery afterwards. They rushed her to the NICU to prepare her to be taken to Sick Kids across the road.

Before they took her to Sick Kids, they brought her to me in the recovery room. She was in an incubator. She had a little tiny pink hat on… and tubes everywhere… well we both did. But, all I could see was her tiny little pink face, she was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen.

I got to hold her for the first time on Feb 14, 1991.
Valentines Day!

She is our miracle baby! Today she turns 19 and is in her first year of University at Trent. She graduated with honours from Grade 12 last June. I won’t tell you what she weighs now, cause she’d kill me… but needless to say, she has gained a few pounds. LOL. She has played soccer for 10 years and is a very talented writer. Not too bad for such meagre beginnings!

I am always reminding her that “Great Things Come in Tiny Packages”, and she is definitely proof of that!

I have looked in on the classes from a spot out on the gym floor and often wondered if I had the capacity to participate… perhaps I wanted to feel a sense of belonging or just wanting to try new things to change it up a bit, but I never did…. until today!

I always see Jo around the gym. She is one of the fitness instructors there and she has a killer body. I ran into her the other day and asked her about her classes. I explained to her my physical limitations and she encouraged me to try… assuring me that I can stop when I’ve had enough or modify the exercises so they are within my tolerance.

So this morning I went into the class ( I made sure to announce to everyone that I was a newbie – LOL). Of course the only place left for me to set up was front and center of the whole class. I was hoping not everyone’s eyes would be on me. I had no clue what I was doing. The first 30 minutes of the class was called “Step and Sculpt”. Just a small step with a couple of 2 pound hand weights… doesn’t seem so daunting, does it?

A full 30 minutes of constant movement, I was sweating, I was breathing really hard… I did have to stop a few times and catch my breath, but, I got through it, and that made me feel proud of myself.

The next 60 minutes was a Pilates class. Some of the ladies left and I wondered if I should make a dash for the door and call it a day, but I really wanted to try the Pilates, so I stayed. I did however, move my mat to the back of the class.

The Pilates is all about stretching and muscle control. The program focuses on the core postural muscles. These muscles provide support for your spine and help keep your body balanced. Perfect – my core is my weak spot… and I am sure my spine could use some help. (I have scoliosis).

I enjoyed the class, but it wasn’t easy, that is for sure. When you are consistently stretching and moving one area of your body for about 3 to 4 minutes, it really starts to hurt. I kept telling myself “push through the pain Kim, push through the pain”.

In the end, it was totally worth it. I am glad that I went and tried the classes. Will I feel the same way tomorrow? LOL! I will let you know!
Bottom line, if you never step out and try new things, you will never know what you can accomplish. I say “Just Do It!”

I was really happy to see it go back to couples this season. I think having the support of a partner going through the same thing with you would make it easier. It must be difficult to spend that much time away from family and every day life… but I have to commend the contestants that put life on hold to be there and do something for themselves – changing their lives! It would take a lot of courage to expose so much of yourself on National TV.

When I watch a show like this I always end up pulling for certain contestants, simply because of their story or their personality. Last season I was pulling for Abby and Danny, Kevin wanted Danny to win, and he did. He looks absolutely amazing now!

There are also certain contestants that I just don’t like. Last season it was Tracey, this season – Melissa – absolutely can’t stand her. Perhaps I end up not liking them because they are game players – and quite frankly, I feel like, if you are going to the Ranch to change your life.. that should be your number one priority.

I was beside myself last night after the weigh-in and Melissa said “I am disappointed in Lance”. After her losing –1 and +1 the 2nd and 3rd week, while he has been going strong every week… so he had a bad weigh in last night (he lost 4 lbs) … uh it’s going to happen! I think she is just a bitch. Stand by your man, like he stood behind you when you were lying about the game play my dear!

I was happy to see O’Neil and Sunshine earn a spot on campus. They did amazing at home - losing 76 lbs between the two of them in one month! That’s totally awesome. Cherita and Victoria also did amazing at home losing 63 lbs between the two of them in one month. Unfortunately it was not enough to earn their spot back. However, it just goes to show you – if you have determination – you can DO ANYTHING!!

I will continue to watch, and post my thoughts about the shows. For more information about the show you can visit the official website at: http://www.nbc.com/the-biggest-loser/

Are you a Biggest Loser Fan too? Please feel free to leave your comments!

Have an Amazing Day!
We've been taught that performing cardiovascular exercise for 20 to 30 minutes at a target heart rate of 60 to 80 percent is the best way to lose your excess fat. Yes, it can be. But, what do you do when you have hit that weight loss plateau and your cardio workout isn't working any more?

One of the methods I've used to change things up is interval training. I would have to describe Interval training as integrating higher-intensity exercise with lower intensity. This will help spark and speed up your metabolism. Intervals can be applied to any form of cardiovascular exercise. It has been a widely used technique for training athletes since the '50s, but this concept has grown into mainstream fitness in the last 10 years.
The beauty of interval training is that you don't have to work out for long periods. Unless you're training for a competitive event, anything longer than 25 to 35 minutes is not required, and that includes warm up and cool down.

Here is an example of interval training using a treadmill:
Begin with a warm up of five minutes at level 3 intensity (3 mph):
A. On the sixth minute, increase to 4 mph (light jog)
B. On the seventh minute, increase to 5 mph
C. On the eighth minute, increase to level 6.5 or 7 mph
D. For the next two minutes, (minutes nine and ten) return to 3 mph
E. Repeat A-D two additional times, but increase the level of intensity one mile per hour on each phase.
F. Cool down for five minutes at 3 mph
The total workout time including warm up and cool downs is 25 minutes. A-D above represent one cycle. In this example, you perform three cycles of higher-intensity cardio. If you're at a more advanced fitness level, then you'll need to adjust the speeds and times accordingly to make sure the intensity is somewhat demanding at the higher levels.
Hope this helps.
Have an Amazing Day

I do indulge in the Isadelights from Isagenix. They are a 50 calorie very healthy dark chocolate snack. But once in a while I love to have milk chocolate. It is my absolute favourite. So I am always trying new things like the Fibre Plus bars, or the Special K Bars.

Today I came across an article from E-Diets that offers the Top 10 Chocolate Treats (for 100 calories or less), so I thought I would share it with you. Some great ideas that I am sure going to try!
People want to know if those colon cleanses and liver cleanses actually assist with weight loss. There are different views on this topic, but I can only comment from personal experience.

Back when I started on my weight loss journey (a few years after my last child was born) I did all the right things. I joined a gym, and started eating a healthy diet. I paid for a few personal training sessions, and thought that I was well on my way. I did lose some weight, but could not seem to get that last 15 lbs off my body, no matter what I tried.

I resorted to fad diets, and even tried some of those diet pills. Not such a good idea – the harmful stimulants made me nauseous. I stopped taking them.

I came across a nutritional cleansing program – a complete body cleanse. Not just a colon cleanse, but a cleanse at the cellular level. Why did I choose these particular products? Well, I liked the fact that not only would this program help remove the impurities from my body, but my body was also being nourished with the finest vitamins, gentle cleansing herbs and ionic trace minerals, so I was replenishing my body at the same time.

So was this the missing link to my weight loss?

Here are my results…

14 lbs and 15 3/4" in 30 days!

While I was going through my program, I also decided to do a weekly video clip update. I think doing this helped to keep me motivated, as well as to show that my before and after pictures are REAL and have not been “touched up”! You can view my weekly videos on my You Tube Channel

So I guess the answer is an absolute YES! I did find the missing link to my weight loss and I continue to cleanse on a regular basis, because to be honest with you – it makes me feel so good, why would I ever want to stop?

What Cleansing Program did I use?

I started with the Isagenix 30 day Cleansing and Fat Burning System and continue with a daily shake and a deep cleanse twice a month. If you want to know more about Isagenix you can visit my website at http://www.leanandhealthy.ca/ .

So anyway, today, when we were standing in line getting the kids ready to board the bus, and one of the grandparents came up to me and said that she thought my daughter looked like Julia Roberts, and that she was beautiful.

I took that as a real compliment, even though I had never really given it much thought. Cass wasn't sure who Julia Roberts was (she's 9) - so when she got home from school we did a google search for pictures of Julia Roberts.

Just for fun, I took a few snaps of her to compare..... so what do you guys think?

So while we were having this impromptu little photo shoot, the other kids came in and wanted in the pictures too! It turned out to be good fun for all!

Bicycle Maneuver
Studies actually prove this to be one of the most effective.

Starting Position:
Lie on a mat with your lower back in a comfortable position.
Put your hands on either side of your head by your ears.
Bring your knees up to about a 45-degree angle.

Movement:
Slowly go through a bicycle pedaling motion alternating your left elbow to your right knee, then your right elbow to your left knee.

Key Points:
This can be a more advanced exercise. Do not perform this activity if it puts any strain on your lower back.
Do not pull on your head and neck during this exercise.
The lower to the ground your legs bicycle, the harder your abs have to work.

Reverse Trunk Twist

Starting Position:
Lie on the floor with your back relaxed and your arms out to the sides forming a "T" with your body.
Extend your legs straight up in the air so your hips form a 90-degree angle with a slight bend in your knees.

Movement:
Contracting the abdominal and oblique muscles, lower your legs toward one side, keeping your feet together and your back on the floor. Stop at the limits of the strength of your abdominal and oblique muscles.
This may start out as a very small range of motion and gradually increase as you get stronger.
Slowly return to the starting position.
After completing the set on the one side, repeat on the other side.

Key Points:
Exhale while lowering your legs.
Inhale while returning to the starting position.

Ab Crunch

Starting Position:
Lie on a mat on your back.
Make sure that your lower back is relaxed against the mat during this exercise.
Bend your knees until your legs are at a 45-degree angle.
Keep both feet on the floor.
Place both hands behind your head.

Movement:
Contracting the upper abs, raise your head and upper torso off the floor until your shoulders are slightly lifted.
Slowly return to the starting position, stopping just short of your head touching the floor.

Key Points:
Exhale as you contract the abs.
Inhale while returning to the starting position.
Keep your eyes focused on the ceiling to avoid pulling with your neck. Your hands should not be used to lift the head or assist in the movement.

While going through my 30 day cleansing program, I created a weekly video journal to track my progress. If you are interested in seeing how I did, you can click over to my You Tube Channel! Click Here:

I am in the process of amalgamating all of my writing into one blog and organizing it with labels. So, if you happen upon my wordpress blog... it is coming down as soon as I have everything moved over.

Wish me luck....

Yes and no, caffeine may promote weight loss or the opposite. Caffeine may give a boost to your metabolism, but as it’s after effect, it gives you an urge to “pig-out” at mealtime or even in-between-meal snacks. So, gain or lose, it’s up to discipline and self-control.

More input from doctors and clinics:

A few studies indicate that large amounts of caffeine – the equivalent of six cups of coffee a day – may slightly enhance weight loss in people who exercise and maintain a low-fat diet. But no studies indicate that weight loss from large amounts of caffeine is significant or permanent.

There’s also no evidence that increasing caffeine intake alone has any effect on weight loss.Is caffeine an appetite suppressant? Yes, but the effect lasts only a very brief period – not long enough to lead to significant weight loss.

Does caffeine increase your body’s ability to burn calories? Maybe, but again, probably not enough to result in significant weight loss.Caffeine does act as a diuretic, which means it causes an increase in the amount of urine you excrete. This water loss may decrease your body weight, but it doesn’t decrease body fat.

Also, keep in mind that caffeine is a stimulant that can increase your heart rate and blood pressure, interrupt your sleep, and cause nervousness and irritability. Also, many caffeinated beverages are high in calories, which can contribute to unwanted weight gain. - Mayo Clinic Staff.

If your asking, “Does caffeine make you fat?” , the truth is the health effects of caffeine promote insulin secretion once it breaks down in your body. Melting fat without caffeine additives is ideal for overall wellness and weight loss, and the health effects of caffeine are detrimental to your weight loss program. – Dr. Barry Sears.

Caffeine does raise the heart rate and metabolism, however at the same time it dehydrates you. Being dehydrated slows down your metabolism. The assumption is that caffeine aids in weight loss as long as you’re certain to keep yourself extra hydrated every day. In addition, it is frequently reported that drinking two cups of coffee before working out improves results. – Dr. Thomas Yarnell

Caffeine absolutely hinders weight loss for many reasons. It raises cortisol levels. It raises and drops blood sugar making you crave carbs. It actually makes you lethargic after the initial energy boost wears off, therefore making you less likely to exercise. – Johnny Bowden, PhD.

A Swiss study of green tea capsules with 50 mg of caffeine and 90 mg of EGCG per two capsules, versus pure caffeine, showed that green tea helped these subjects burn approximately 800 calories per day more. This suggests both the use of fat as an energy source and the effect being from the natural combination of phytonutrients in the green tea. – Dr. John LaPuma

“The primary effect of carb restriction is to reduce insulin and increase glucagons, creating a favourable environment for fat release and fat burning. The net effect of increasing fat use at the whole-body level? Reduced feeding. Hence, one loses body fat. Depending on the dose, caffeine can add to this effect. Caffeine causes a physiological response that leads to the release of catecholamines, chemical agents that increase metabolism. Caffeine stimulates thermogenesis [heat production or calorie burning] and [increases] the release of fat from the fat cell.” - Gregory Ellis, PhD

I still love my coffee... but keep it to a minimum. I have started to replace my afternoon coffee with a herbal tea. My favourite flavours from Tim Hortons are Peppermint, Apple Cinnamon and honey lemon. I do also like the green tea but it does have some caffeine, although not as much as the coffee. Plus with coffee, I have to add cream and sugar which equals more calories and fat.... but the the teas.. I don't add anything and still enjoy the flavour!

I hope this helps.
Have an Amazing Day!
You have kids to get ready for school, housework, meals, laundry, illnesses, not to mention your job if you work outside the home! “When the heck am I going to have time to workout?” That is a question I hear regularly, and I can relate to that because I am a working mother myself. Sometimes it is just impossible to stick to a regular fitness routine and the preparation of healthy meals.

That being said, I try not to let everyday stress become an excuse to not get my regular exercise in. We all have 24 hours in a day, so we need to find some time during that period for some form of exercise. Part of your daily routine includes a shower and brushing your teeth. You would not go without those, so if you make exercise part of your daily routine too, it will become a habit. A great habit! It is just not right to use lack of time as an excuse to avoid exercise. If you are afraid to get started, or just not sure how, then read on, I think this will help you.

Just remember, even 20 minutes a day is better than nothing at all. Here are five tips to help you get started.

Find a friend to workout with: Working out alone is not always an enjoyable experience. However, if you have a friend workout with you, chances are that you will start loving your workouts because you will also have that social interaction! Also, seeing your friend working out will motivate you to continue with your exercise program. The other benefit that comes with working out with a friend is accountability. If you know your friend is counting on you to meet her at the gym, you are less likely to use the excuse “I don’t feel like it today.”

Workout to Music: Take an IPOD with you whenever you hit the gym. This is a great way of kicking the boredom out of your workout routine! When I work out to music, I find it more enjoyable because I am not really concentrating on how hard I am working, but actually listening to the music. Upbeat music works great when you are doing cardio. Softer music when you are stretching or doing yoga. Most gyms today have TVs too, so if you have headphones you can plug in and watch your favorite TV show while on the treadmill!

Do what you love: It becomes a lot easier when you find certain exercises that you love to do. If there are exercises that you absolutely despise, do not make them part of your routine. You will get bored and quit. Instead, mix it up a bit, but make sure you are working every area of your body.

Start it slow: If you have never exercised in life, it is only natural that you will be afraid to hit the gym. When you first begin to exercise, you do not have to do it daily in order to lose weight. Instead, try to take it easy: start by working out only for fifteen to twenty minutes per day, for two or three days a week. As your body gets accustomed to your new workout routine, you can scale up the intensity of your workouts! Trust me, you will feel so much better when you start to incorporate fitness into your daily routine.

Work out at home: If a gym membership is not in your budget, that’s okay. You can purchase some really good exercise DVDs and get started at home. You can still invite friends over to work out with you for added fun and support. We offer some beginner to advanced DVD choices on our website.

I hope this helps. Thank you for reading. Have an Amazing Day!
Another New Year is here and we are filled with hope. There is a certain excitement about setting new goals and striving for success. Often though, ambitious as we are, setting new habits and sticking with them often fall to the wayside relatively quickly.

Can you remember what your New Year’s Resolutions were for 2009? Are they the same resolutions again? What happened? Why were those resolutions not achieved, so that this year we could start anew?

Weight loss is one of the most common resolutions. In fact a largely disproportionate amount of people resolve to lose weight every New Year. All through the holidays while you were indulging (or overindulging for some of us), you kept thinking in the back of your mind – “Well this all changes come January, I am going to lose this weight.” Trust me I know, I have been there too!

Resolving to make positive changes in our life is a wonderful thing, but it is also easier said than done. Here are ten tips to help you to stick to your resolutions and attain your goals.

Make a List.
Make a List of the goals that you wish to achieve and post them up somewhere so you will see them every morning. The bathroom mirror and the fridge door are good places. J My friend Jen says: “If it’s not on the list, it doesn’t exist.” Make your list!

Have a support system in place.
The key to continued success is to have your own support system. Find a buddy that has similar goals and work together. Having to be accountable to another person or a group often makes you work that little bit harder, just to prove, not only to yourself but also to others that you can do this!

Educate yourself.
If you are starting a new nutrition plan or exercise plan, research and find out everything you can about the subject. If at times you think that you can’t do it, start reading some of the success stories online, find some extra help if you need it and just get started.

Give your goals some meaning.
”I first wanted to lose weight so that I could look better and feel better after my children were born. As the years went by, both my parents started having health challenges. It was then that I realized that I didn’t want to spend my retirement battling health issues that I could avoid if I started a healthier lifestyle now. That gave me a greater desire and drive to accomplish my goals and do it now!”

Try to avoid temptations.
Do not keep food and snacks in the house that you know will only tempt you. When dining at a restaurant, look at the things on the menu that you can eat, rather than the things you can’t. Enjoy what you can have, and remember the greater goals.

Keep a Food Journal.
Keeping track of what you eat can actually increase your weight loss efforts two fold. Keep a daily journal and try to keep it with you so you can write down what you eat right away. Trying to remember everything you ate that day, later on in the evening, you are bound to forget some things. Keeping your food journal also keeps you accountable to yourself. Perhaps if you have to write down that chocolate chip cookie that you had at 2:00 in the afternoon, you might think twice about having it in the first place.

Find Motivation in every small accomplishment.
”The more results I saw, the more I knew I could do it. I started out dedicating 1 month to my 30- day plan. That first 30 days is long over, and I have not looked back. I wouldn’t trade in my new healthier lifestyle now for anything. I know now I could never go back to living the way I was.”Every little bit helps. Cutting out snacking in the evening is a tough thing to do but the more results you see from not doing that, the more you won’t want to!

Set Realistic Goals.
Try setting targets within goals. For example, if your overall goal is to lose 20 lbs, then why not set a target of losing the first 2 to 3 lbs by the end of your first week. Then check it off and set another target. Setting smaller “goals within goals” will make it easier and keep you motivated. If you are setting unrealistic goals, you are setting yourself up for failure indeed.

Don’t Give Up.
Sometimes, it is difficult to keep trying, but each day is a new beginning. If you cheated yesterday and had that sinfully delightful piece of chocolate cake for granny’s birthday, it’s okay! Don’t beat yourself up about it. Take it one day at a time, and one meal at a time. Lean on your friends and family for support. They are there to help you and keep you going.

Encourage People and Teach Others
There is nothing like the feeling of making a difference in someone else’s life! Being supportive of another can give you rewards far greater than ever anticipated. Have you ever heard the saying “It is better to give than to receive”? You can truly bless someone else’s life simply by sharing hints or providing them encouragement.

I hope this helps. Thanks for reading!
Have an Amazing Day!

In today’s competitive environment, it is not at all uncommon to find people working as much as 16-18 hours a day and indulging in our hobbies and interests only on the weekends. So, if we are forced to work for such a long duration in the wrong job, it is bound to lead to health as well as other adverse implications which will permeate into all areas of our lives.

Do you think that if you could turn your passion into a profession that you would be a happier, well adjusted, healthier person?

If we get up every day and go to a job that we hate, or one that we tolerate, just because we need the paycheck, do you honestly believe that you can have complete joy and happiness in your life?

When you can develop an income doing something that you love to do, and that you are absolutely passionate about, it is no longer work!

You do your work by choice, and you do it with pleasure. The key is to choose your career not on the basis of what you know, but by who you are! Ask yourself, is this your life’s work? Is this who you are?

“When your Vocation becomes your Vacation, there is no such thing as hard work! ”
Jimmy (the Butcher) Smith

That is so true. I firmly believe that. I know from experience because I now have the pleasure of doing what I absolutely love to do, and to me, its not work. I wake up every morning with a drive to get right to it… get into my day, and create a difference in the lives of people that I have the privilege of knowing!

How do you find your passion?

The way I define the term passion is something in which I enjoy doing, something I can do all day long, every day, and continuously find happiness doing it. Yet it isn’t even the act of doing it that makes me happy, because just thinking about it can produce feelings of great elation!

So how do I do this?

First you have to set realistic goals. You will never succeed without setting goals. Create a realistic vision for not only the present, but the future as well.

Remember that life is a journey. You may have to take on certain jobs that you may not like, just to get your foot in the door, to work towards your true passion. Perhaps you may need more schooling to realistically be able to achieve your dream profession.

Know that, even though you may have to do things that you don’t prefer, this is not always going to be the case. However, you need to be responsibly providing for your family while creating a plan for your dreams.

Carefully consider what your true passion is, and plan to make it happen!

You need to analyze all the factors before putting your plan into action. Do you need to relocate? Do you need more schooling, an apprenticeship perhaps? All of these factors need to be taken into careful consideration.

The biggest thing you need to have is courage, to put your plan into action so that you can start working towards your dream life. Always believe in yourself, and never let failure be an option for you. Then one day, you will find yourself there – living your dream, not dreading going to work! You have worked for this and it has become real for you because you had courage, vision, and a viable long term plan.

The only way you will ever be truly happy – and successful – is to make your passion your profession!

Thanks for reading.

Back in 1998 my husband and I were fortunate enough to conceive a boy after trying to get pregnant for about 5 years. Unfortunately I did not carry the pregnancy to term. We went in for a check up at 23 weeks to learn that our son had died in-utero. No explanation was given. The doctors simply did not have any answers, other than that my underlying congenital heart condition may have been a factor.

We already had a daughter that was 7 but I was devastated! I wanted to try again, we had tried for so long to get pregnant. Fortunately I went on to conceive a baby girl in 1999 and she was born healthy at full term in 2000.

Eleven months later, we found out I was pregnant again, this time it was a boy. My pregnancy was plagued with complications. I was told that my maternal serum screening came back with high numbers. 1 in 12 chance that our son would have spina bifida. Then later in the pregnancy they were concerned about Dandy – Walker Syndrome. None of what they said mattered. We wanted our son and we would love him no matter what.

Late one night at about 29 weeks into the pregnancy my water broke. My husband rushed me to Mt. Sinai Hospital in Toronto where our specialists were. I didn’t end up going into labour that night, but they kept me in the hospital for the duration. 4 weeks into my hospital stay (33 weeks into the pregnancy) I started bleeding profusely. My placenta had abrupted. I had an Emergency C-Section.

Our son was born 7 weeks premature, weighing 4 lbs 6 oz. Thanks to God that he was okay. The only visible abnormality he had was hypospadia. Surgery just before he turned two corrected that. Today he is 7 and doing quite well.

Today a friend of mine posted this video on face-book. When I watched it I was so moved by the content, I just simply had to share it. People need to be aware of this. Maybe it will answer some questions about why it might be more difficult to conceive a healthy boy in these times.

I became involved with it because I loved the product and I became excited by the idea of building a massive residual income. Many will promise that its a more efficient way to make money, that its easy to find success through friends and family, and that it can be done in a couple hours after your day job. But anyone who has poured countless hours and thousands of dollars chasing the Network Marketing dream knows that its not as simple as uplines, downlines, and growing bank accounts.

It was a rude awakening, as I jumped in only to find that success didn't come as easily as I had been told. I wanted to work hard and was willing to, but the fact of the matter is I couldn't keep my recruits excited. They kept quitting. My friends and family loved the products but not many of them were interested in the business. I didn't know how to "sell" and I didn't want to "sell". I hated the thought of buying and cold calling leads, so it didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped.

As I experienced, there are some serious drawbacks to Network Marketing. If there weren't, every product sold would be through networks, and every distributor involved would be very rich. Not the case. Here's why:

Shockingly, 99% of all MLM distributors lose money. The further down the line you go, the fewer leads there are available. It becomes a principle of scarcity. You quickly come to the end of your "warm market". It then can become difficult to search and track down more people to become involved, either as buyers or downline distributors.

Family and friends are not a reliable base for MLM success. No one wants to be hounded by their distant brother-in-law or old high school teammate to join up in the next big money making scheme or buy whatever wonderful irreplaceable product you happen to be pushing at the moment. Yes, your mother loves you, but she's not going to make you rich.

A successful Network Marketing business takes a lot of time, and a lot of talent. For being the part-time, work-from-home, independent moneymaker it is portrayed to be, any successful distributor must actually spend far more time to make the business viable. Industry "experts" will tell you that every second of the day is a potential time for marketing. No regular hours. No limits. Always be ready with a pitch.

MLM is not your standard make-money-on-the-side job. For many, it becomes a lifestyle. MLM "pep rallies," training seminars, workshops, and retreats are the industry norm. I happen to love my companies conventions and I attend annually. I learn a lot from them, but I am still drawn to working my business online. I feel like I can reach more people with this medium than doing home parties or meetings at my neighbourhood church. But that is what they teach you.

These four drawbacks become serious obstacles on the path to MLM financial success. Most Network Marketing Systems fail for some combination of these dilemmas, and until now, there hasn't been any system that would allow distributors to bypass these hurdles.

However if you could learn how to market your business online, if you could learn how to have leads coming to you, instead of you hounding them... or making endless cold call after cold call... would you be interested?

I have been working on a completely free information site aimed to help network marketers build their MLM businesses online. The site is going to be a community of like-minded people, sharing information, creating excitement and most definitely building residual incomes from home... how does that sound to you?

The site is in the early stages of development right now, but please feel free to drop by anytime:
http://www.mlm-networking-cafe.com/

Learn simple techniques.... with no meetings to attend. No family to chase. Have leads seeking you out with credit cards in hand. Give people what they want, and they will buy it. A sales funnel that does the "selling" for you.

I hope this helps, and thanks for reading.

Have an Amazing Day!
