hey beautiful people, still on make up post,
so today i was a bit lazy to put up a post but i did it after all.

So for my face I used black opal stick foundation all over my face, m.k concealer underneath my eyebags and brows.

My shadows are from my fav. sleek storm pallet and another sleek product that has red (can't remember the name)
I used m.k blush too then I contoured with m.k bronze2 powder (just another try out)

My F.O.T.D is candy lips, hmmm yummy
i got this look by mixing my nude jacqline lipstick and
and my miss rose pink lipstick with a peanut size gloss...yup

Hey hey,so am back to make up posts again. Today's post is on vamp lips, more like purple lips.

So for my face I used black opal stick foundation all over my face, m.k concealer underneath my eyebags and brows.

Vamp lips: line your lips with concealer to define it,mosturize with lip balm and use a lip liner( I used jordanna easyliner for lips (color: carbnet) to line your lips,wipe off any excesses with an earbud. Apply lipstick (purple).

The ''Be Happy'' Project

Much of my fascination with happiness is linked to the fact most people are miserable. I don't think that's a cynical perspective I just think it's a realistic appraisal of reality. Look around you carefully and you'll see a lot of people behaving like they're happy, but genuine happiness eludes them.

Our culture has become so infected by capitalism, many people perversely link their personal happiness to how much wealth, power and respect they accumulate. When in reality these things cannot bring happiness.

Some believe they'll gain happiness when they find true love. "All I really want it to be happy. And to find a man that's mine, it would be so sweet". Really ? I think a mistake a lot of people make is thinking that falling in love is the magic solution. Love comes with its own set of issues and finding "Mr. Right" is no guarantee for happiness. Your happiness levels may increase but eventually they'll fall. Why? Because when all your happiness is dependent on another human being, their fallibility and ability to screw up, will eventually cause you misery. Loving yourself is what brings happiness and cause for others to love you

If happiness isn't found in wealth or finding true love, where can it be located? Religious people contend that true happiness is found in God. The trouble is most religious people are fixated with knowing their religion, rather than knowing God. So ironically most of them are miserable, repressed and jaded.

As far as I'm aware God does not specialise in delivering happiness packages to our doorsteps. Happiness is one of those things that God/whatever you choose to believe in, leaves us to be the custodian of.

Happiness eludes so many of us because we think that it will miraculously occur. Which is rubbish. Happiness doesn't happen by chance, it involves hard work. We must actively seek to cultivate an environment conducive to happiness. Our happiness is our responsibility or as Lincoln put it "most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be"

As happiness, like shoes, is something you can never have too much of, I'd love for you all to join me in my quest for more shoes, I mean happiness. With that aim in mind I'm going to share a very simplified version of my be happy project

"Be Happy"

Step 1
Define Happiness for yourself
At some point in our lives we have to define happiness for ourselves. Finding out,what makes you happy,if its a personal decision or if its dependent on fallible entities.

Step 2
Create a happiness principle and live by it.

My happiness principle is simply:

"Let Go. Hold On"

I believe life's nothing more than what you decide to let go of and what you choose to hold on to. Now everything in my life is placed into one of those two categories; "Let Go" or "Hold On". It's a way of cutting away the bad and cherishing the good.

I found this principle helpful as I'm the type of person that can (over) think themselves into a state of anxiety. Now when I'm feeling worried or fearful I ask myself "Are you going to let go of this thing or hold on to it?"

Step 3
Write your happiness commandments.

"Remember the past but do not dwell there, face the future where all our hopes stand" Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

"Be Kind"

"You are enough"

"Love continuously"

"Eat (more) ice cream without feeling guilty"

Don't starve yourself that plate of abacha

"Seek progress, not perfection"

"Live your dream and wear your passion"

"Forgive"

Since I'm still collecting ideas for my commandments I'd like to ask….

My fortuna insecurity; saved by Confidence...

I haven't been blogging much, but I try to when I can because I don't want it to be a chore, in order to stay interesting so thanks to shirley for enlightening me(www.meek-n-mild.com) Today's post is a must read for everyone, am not much of a reader but I dabble. My journey through the world of insecurity, till I glanced at light that suppressed the darkness,and I basked confidence. According to 'Christina rants' (a blog that inspires me) In Machiavelli's "The Prince" the concept of fortune is personified as an intangible and spiritual being named "Fortuna" Fortuna is a woman and rather volatile. She may work in our favour or against us. Fortuna's existence means we can only control so much. Machiavelli advocates that in order to restrain the power of Fortuna we must seek to become virtuous. Only inner virtue can act as a guard against her caprice. In hindsight I connected with the work of Machiavelli because I had my own personal Fortuna. My Fortuna was insecurity.

My position on the confidence spectrum vacillates. On some days I'm convinced I can do anything and on other days I'm unsure of what I can do or worse still, what I'm supposed to be doing. For a while I wasn't sure of what to post but a friend said ''Haff u tried picking stuff from past experiences,Shake a few tinz up,Pple relate more with personal experiences'' and so I thought to share..

I learnt many things during my crisis of confidence. I learnt it won't certainly be my last. Insecurity is like Fortuna. It cannot be destroyed. It will rear its ugly head when it's most inconvenient. I discovered investing energy into fighting my insecurities is exhausting. I'm battling a force with far more strength and experience than myself. After all insecurity has been screwing with humanity since humans began roaming the earth.

I learnt that we are hardwired to be insecure. To resist insecurity is to resist part of ourselves. It's what makes us greater than animals but less than the Gods. However the acceptance that our insecurities will always be with us doesn't mean we should resign ourselves to being held captive by them.

As I grappled and struggled with my insecurity I learnt something beautiful about confidence. Confidence isn't the absence of insecurity; confidence is choosing to act in spite of its presence. These acts of confidence don't have to be grand. They're normally relatively small. Like choosing to smile at an abrasive stranger. Uploading a blog post that makes you cringe. Wearing an item that accentuates a body part you once tried to conceal. Leaning in for the kiss first.

The only forces that have power in our lives are the things we focus on. Focus on fear and fear will be your master. Focus on love and love will be your friend. Insecurity exerts a disproportionate amount of influence over us only when we give it disproportionate amount of our focus. However if we treat our insecurity as a banal fact and not care as much, its power diminishes,and thus holds no power over us.

We can never completely silence the oppressing voice of insecurity. What we can do is amplify our positive beliefs and thoughts. We must hold on to the belief that in spite of all the things that make us awful, there is much more in us that makes us good. They say faith is the antidote to fear, love is the antidote to hate, I'm not sure if there's an antidote for insecurity, but I do think belief or confidence comes pretty close.

In closing I'll say there is nothing instant about confidence, whether you're trying to maintain it, restore it or find it. Whatever stage you're at it's a gradual process. I wasn't sure how to end this blog post. However there's a Donny Hathaway song called 'Someday We'll All Be Free' that articulates a very important meaning to our everyday life

"Hang onto the world as it spins around Just don't let the spin get you down. Things are moving fast. Hold on tight and you will last. Keep your self-respect your very bright. Get yourself in gear, Keep your stride. Never mind your fears. Brighter days will soon be here. Take it from me someday we'll all be free"

hey hey am so sorry i havent blogged in a loooooooong while,
yes i know, been extremely busy with some exams and i just finished so am back at it
so what have i been up to lately???? after my exams first i cut my hair.
oh yes i did, i was tired of my look and i decided to change it
so i did a mohawk and i dyed my hair to copper red colour.
it didnt really turn out as i wanted it but i tried though.

so this is what it looks like the the copper red colour.

then my friends and i hung out and there was a bit of make up session.....lol we were just,
you know playing and having fun but it turned out pretty well.

I'm inspired a lot by the TV programme I watch like the ladies' I see on there. If I see something and I like it I just go for it. I don't follow fashion, I follow me. Everyone's body is different so I personally think everyone should wear what suits them.

I would say my look is chic with a hint of retro.
My hair also influences the way I dress, I.e if I had my hair up I'd be going for shorts and boots to complete the retro look on the other hand hair down cud mean a more classy look with a dress or skirt. I can be flexible so there's always a mix and match going on with me . :)

Episode 3: Beauty secrets Feet care

Your feet take lots of punishment, and it shows. The rough, calloused skin on the heels needs regular moisturising or it may become dry and cracked. The moist skin between the toes is prone to athlete's foot. Even the skin on the tops of the feet is vulnerable; it can get sunburned if not protected from ultraviolet radiation.

Yet we all want good-looking feet. Fortunately, there are many over-the counter products to soothe, treat and protect your feet.

Regular use of a pumice stone or foot file on damp heels and calluses will keep your feet looking good in open-back shoes.

Soak your feet in water or a footbath for 10 to 15 minutes to help soften the skin. Then gently remove the thickened skin with a pumice stone. Some podiatrist (foot specialist), recommends a warm footbath made of black tea (tannic acid). Tannic acid, he says, is a natural agent that may reduce the chance of getting athlete's foot.

Moisturising foot scrubs made from botanicals such as crushed fruit stones, sugar or chemical exfoliates also help remove dead skin. After you scrub, apply a rich foot cream or balm containing shea butter or cocoa butter. Look for balms or heel creams containing salicylic acid or urea to soften tough calluses.

If your heels become extremely dry and cracked, see a podiatrist (chiropodist) for advice and treatment. If they're not that bad, there are plenty of moisturising products from which to choose. First, you might pick up some medicated heel pads, sold at pharmacies, to soften calluses while you walk. After you've exfoliated the calluses, use a heavy cream to moisturise tough skin on your heel. Look for creams containing petrolatum, an emollient, or a humectant such as lactic acid, which draws moisture into the skin.

Don't forget to protect the skin on the tops of your feet. A broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 should be applied to the feet when you're at the beach or wearing open sandals.

These days, toenails are a fashion accessory for many women. However, it can be a challenge to maintain pretty toenails in our busy lives.

Proper pedicure techniques are important. The leading cause of hangnails and ingrown toenails is clumsy nail trimming. Make sure the nail technician gently pushes back the cuticle rather than cutting it, which may lead to an infection.

If you do your own nails, look for nail 'nippers' that have a curved handle and a cutting jaw shaped to follow the natural curve of nails. You can find them at pharmacies and beauty supply shops.
Our nails naturally become more brittle with age. Ingredients in some nail varnishes and varnish removers can speed the process, drying out our nails. Some manicurists suggest that clients use varnish that is free of formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate, and alcohol-free varnish remover.

To moisturise your toenails, try using a cuticle cream, petroleum jelly or vitamin E oil. Put it over the entire nail, including the cuticle, and gently rub it in.

Things we need: wide tooth comb, small tail comb,flat thong,bendy rollers,hand dryer styling mouse,oil sheen and spritz gell if necessary

1. We start by brushing your hair nice and easy with long strokes with your wide toothed comb
2. Using the small tail combs to part you hair, apply styling mouse to it and roll with bendy rollers.
3. Continue step2 until you have roller your hair completely.
Blow dry your hair or allow to dry naturally.
4. Use a flat iron to flatten stubborn hair.
5.unroll your hair gently and style as preferred.
6. Spray spritz gel to hold if necessary.
And there it is your glam curly hair.

Beauty secrets: Choosing the right foundation(episode1)

Foundation is an essential part of our make up but also optional which is healthy for our skin, so in other to choose one, its better to use one which is the same color as our skin. Here are some things to consider when choosing your foundation.

1. Before you pick the formula, you need to find out the right formulation for your skin. If you're oily, look for words like "oil-free," "oil-control" or "mattifying" on the bottle. Got dry skin? Go for moisturizing foundations with "hydrating" or "moisture-rich" wording on the bottle. Foundations containing glycerin glide on easily. For combination skin, determine if you're more oily or dry and go from there. Cream-to-powder bases work great for combination skin. Mineral foundations work well on all skin types, especially sensitive skin.

2. Consider if you want a light or medium-coverage. If you have good skin, but want to even out a few ruddy areas, consider a light coverage. For women with really uneven skin tone or blemishes, consider a medium-coverage foundation. Some women swear by mineral foundations, so you might want to try these out as well

3. Show up to the makeup counter with a clean, fresh face. It's OK to wear eye makeup or lipstick, even moisturizer on your face, but you don't want to show up already wearing foundation.

4. Select a few colors that seem close to your natural skin tone. Go for the yellow-based foundations, which look most natural on all skin tones. However, if you're very fair, try a pink, cooler shade.

5. Apply a stroke of up to three colors on a cheek (the inner wrist or hand aren't the best spots, contrary to popular belief). The one that disappears is the right shade.

6. Take a good, long look -- near a window. Ask to borrow a hand mirror and stand near a doorway, or step outside, to see which foundation looks best in the natural light. The right shade is one that you can't see because it blends in so well. If you are purchasing from a drugstore, take a couple bottles to a doorway, hold them up to your neck and see which one matches the best or if you have a favorite shade you want to match, match the colors of the bottles, never the swatch on the display.

7. Once you've bought the foundation, take it home and try it out. If you don't like it you can return it. If you're buying from a drugstore, purchase from one with a liberal return policy (like Rite Aid).

Tips:

Try the color out on your jawline, not your wrist or hand
Remember to stand in a doorway or outside to see if the color matches
A foundation with sunscreen is a safe bet, but you will still need to wear sunscreen under your foundation. Also considering skipping foundation and opting for a tinted moisturizer instead.
Believe it or not, today foundation is totally optional. It's healthier for your skin NOT to wear foundation daily. If you have blemishes or pimples, try strategically placed concealer instead.
Go for different looks for evening and day. A light foundation is perfect for work or weekend. While a sexy shimmer is great for evening.
